Re: CFTicket

2007-12-28 Thread Cedric Villat
Michael,

If you are installing the trial, it doesn't work on CF8 as-is. The reason is
that it was compiled under CF7, and it seems as though CF7 compiled files don't
play well with CF8. A few other customers also had this issue, and we have a
special CF8 trial version at:

http://www.cornfeed.com/index.cfm/go/download/file/cfticket_209_trial_cf8

The full version, since it's not encrypted, doesn't have this issue and works
across CF6-CF8.

OT: Application Layout/design

2007-10-23 Thread Cedric Villat
Sorry for the OT topic, but I'm looking for someone who can do css-based web
application layout/design. This is just a small contract job. I'm looking
for something a bit Web2.0'ish (I know that is very generic). If you can
help, or have someone you can recommend, please email off-list.

I haven't gotten any of the CF-Talk digests for the past 2 days or so. Michael,
any changes you made to HOF that would affect the digests going out? Anyone
else seeing this issue, or are others still receiving the digests?

Rob,

Looks like something hit our server Saturday or so, and caused it to become
very slow. Anyway, we are working on it and hopefully it'll be back up later
today or tomorrow. You can email me off-list if you want another link to the
demo which you can try.

Andrew,

We make CFTicket, which is written in ColdFusion and is open source (not free,
but affordable). You can see it at www.cornfeed.com. It sounds like it does
what you want, but you can check it out as there is an online demo you can play
with.

Re: multiple email addresses in cfmail TO attribute.

2006-08-17 Thread Cedric Villat
Andy,

I've always used semi-colons, but I think comma's are the proper way. The
reason I use semi-colons is because email addresses can be in the form of:

"Blow, Joe" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Outlook does this all the time, and if you used a comma, I think things may not
work correctly if you use a comma as a delimiter. I suppose the same problem
would apply for semi-colons, but I've never seen an email address (or name)
with a semi-colon.

Re: Changes to files not taking effect

2006-06-27 Thread Cedric Villat
So after a lot of googling and testing on my computer, I figured out the
problem. It was my copy of ZoneAlarm which was updated and had a bug:

http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/information/zap/releaseHistory.html#6.5.722.000

Apparently, it was preventing the Date Modified from being updated properly,
which was exactly my issue. If anyone is using ZoneAlarm, I really recommend
updating to the latest version so you don't get caught by this bug like I did.
Not only does it affect the files I update, but also all AV programs won't work
well, since they rely on files changing to know when to scan them.

Re: Changes to files not taking effect

2006-06-26 Thread Cedric Villat
I tried using the mapped drive and the path. Same thing. It isn't a novell
network, just a good ol' Windows 2000 server. I'm using Windows XP as my local
machine. I do use versioning, but I end up checking out the code into a web
accessible path on the server, which is where I then edit the files.

Still no luck :( Any other ideas?

Re: Changes to files not taking effect

2006-06-26 Thread Cedric Villat
Well, I've had some luck in figuring this out. It seems that when I update the
file on the mapped drive from my local computer with either Homesite or
Eclipse, the actual timestamp for the file does not get updated, but the file
contents are updated. I assume this is not triggering a File Change
Notification on the server, and thus CF doesn't pick up the new version.

The odd thing is that if I use Notepad on my local machine to save the file,
instead of using Eclipse or Homesite, the file gets correctly updated and the
timestamp is also updated. So it only seems to occur with certain apps on my
local machine.

Does anyone know of any DLL's that control this? Or any apps that might be
causing a conflict? I would appreciate it if anyone had any ideas.

Re: Changes to files not taking effect

2006-06-26 Thread Cedric Villat
Anyone? I've narrowed the problem down a bit. It is very similar to this thread
from a couple weeks ago:
http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/messages.cfm/forumid:4/threadid:46408#243849
 .

Basically, if I edit the file remotely from my machine and save it on the
server (via a mapped drive), the changes do not take effect when I refresh my
browser. If I open the file on the dev server and make a change there, the
changes are reflected when I refresh the browser. Looks like the same sort of
Dreamweaver issue from the above post, except I am using Homesite/Eclipse and
not Dreamweaver.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is there an OS issue or maybe an
issue when using mapped drives?

Thanks,

Changes to files not taking effect

2006-06-24 Thread Cedric Villat
Hey everyone.

On my development server, all of a sudden when I make a change to a file and
save it, the changes are not reflected unless I stop and restart the
ColdFusion service. I don't have trusted cache enabled, nor do I have Save
Class files checked. I have tried different web browsers, different
machines, and cleared the cache on the browsers and still my changes are not
seen. This is a CFMX 6.1 server if it helps.

Has anyone seen anything like this before, or what I can do to solve it?

Thanks,

Cedric

rotate 90% in CFMX7? I'm looking for a solution that works in both CFMX6 and
7.1.

cfchart problem

2006-02-28 Thread Cedric Villat
I am seeing some problems with on CFMX7. I have a bar chart that
shows up fine in CFMX6.1, but doesn't work in CFMX7. Here is my code:

The Queues query looks like:

QueueName TicketCount

TestQueue8

The chart just doesn't show up in CFMX7.1. The correct flash code is
embedded in the page, it just appears blank. Can anyone try the above code
on the 2 CFMX's and see if they have the same issue? Or is there a known bug
related to this?

Re: [OT] Future CF Features

2006-02-14 Thread Cedric Villat
Adrian,

I made a custom tag called cf_param that does exactly this. If the type of the
variable does not match, such as your case, the default value is used. You can
get the custom tag at http://www.cornfeed.com. It is a couple years old, but
works just fine, as I use it all over the place.

Re: Strip HTML and display

2006-01-30 Thread Cedric Villat
My desired output didn't show up quite right. Anyway, I'm not trying to get rid
of CR's after tags.

Basically, this text has already been wrapped at some length (65 chars). The
problem is it was wrapped text was wrapped while taking into account the HTML.
I'm trying to "unwrap" the text, then remove the HTML, then re-wrap it so that
the text displays properly.

I have the setdomaincookies set to Yes, and even restarted the server in hopes

Do I need to set this in conjunction with something else? I suppose I can dump

Any other ideas?

Losing session vars

2005-11-13 Thread Cedric Villat
Hey all. I'm having an issue where visitors to my site are losing their
session variables when I transfer them from www.mysite.com
to secure.mysite.com. Basically, all of the
session vars are lost, including the fact that they are logged in, items in
their cart, etc. Short of adding the CFID and CFTOKEN to every link on the
site, is there a way around this? I already have setDomainCookies set in my
cfapplication, hoping that would fix it, but no.

Anyone have any ideas how to solve this issue of losing session vars?

Thanks!

Re: OT: text editor that allow a tab

2005-11-11 Thread Cedric Villat
How about inserting some code behind the scenes yourself?

For example, when they hit the tab key (you can use javascript to catch the tab
key), insert the code and then
afterwards replacing each span with the tab id with a real tab?

I assume these people are submitting the form to make sure the query works, and
then if so, they are given the actual code? Just an idea.

Credit Card processing

2005-10-17 Thread Cedric Villat
I'm looking for a credit card processing company. I know many of you have
different companies, so I want to know what you use.

The volume of sales for the site is fairly low (2-3 transactions per month).
Anyone out there just charge a % of each transaction, vs. paying a monthly
service fee + % of each transaction?

PayPal is not an option at this point, as I have been burned by them in the
past. I know there are some people on this list that work for CC processing
companies, so please speak up.

CFPOP errors

2005-09-28 Thread Cedric Villat
I am getting some errors when using CFPOP to retrieve email. The errors seem to
happen even when I only get the headers. The errors are like:

javax.mail.MessageRemovedException.

or

sun.io.ByteToCharBig5.getIndex1()[S

I tried wrapping the CFPOP in a try/catch block in an attempt to find which
email is causing the problem and delete it, but I just get the regular
ColdFusion error instead of my cfcatch executing. Anyone else every have these
errors? They are occuring very frequently, and are usually because of a
malformed auto-response, or some strange Chinese encodings/emails.

Anyone have any ideas, other than using something other than CFPOP? Yes, I have
the latest JDK installed to, as I followed the instructions from
http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/messages.cfm/forumid:4/threadid:42282 to
no avail.

Re: Mail Management Program

Rey,

This sounds very similar to our product CFTicket. It has threading, keeps
history of customer contacts, allows you to reply/delete/forward all emails
from the server, etc.

You can take a look at it at http://www.cornfeed.com. There is an online demo
that you can try, as well as a trial version (if you have CFMX 7+).

The only problem you may have is that the subjects have some identifying string

cfmail not sending messages

2005-08-31 Thread Cedric Villat
My server is acting strangely today. Whenever I use cfmail to send out some
mail, it goes to the spool folder, but sits there for about 1 minutes and then
goes to the undeliverable folder.

I looked at the CF mail logs, and it showed that an error occured, but the
reason for the error was blank. No nothing, nada. That doesn't help me. There
were some mail server changes recently, but I have no idea how to go about
debugging this issue since there is no error. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Paging through records

2005-08-31 Thread Cedric Villat
Isaac,

This won't work either, because it is possible that some of the ID's between 2
and 52 did not match your original WHERE clause in the first query. Say
qry1.id[1] was 2 and qry1.id[50] was 10,000. Then in your second query, you are
pulling almost 10,000 records, instead of the 50 that you wanted! Again, this
is why my original post used the ID IN () to only get the records you wanted.

I went through this discussion by myself about a year ago when I came up with
this :) Funny to see everyone has sort of the same though process. Also, this
solution works independent of the DB, whether it be Access, MySQL, etc, since
no sub-queries are needed.

Re: Paging through records

2005-08-31 Thread Cedric Villat
Dave,

This approach doesn't work if you have gaps in your keys, such as after you
delete a row. For example, in my case, if your ID's were 1, 51, 101, etc. It
would return the first 50 entries, regardless of what their ID's were. In your
case, the COUNT doesn't tell you the ID's of the records you are looking for.
So if your first query returned 100, and you then queried for records with ID >
50 and ID < 100, you would only get 1 row, instead of the 50.

Unless I missed your point completely :)

Re: Paging through records

2005-08-30 Thread Cedric Villat
What I do, and it seems to scale pretty well, is to run 2 queries. The first
query simply pulls the ID's of the matching rows, and the second query pulls
all of the data only for the ID's that were queried in the first query. Example:

You want to get results 51-100 of your query:

SELECT ID
FROM myTable
WHERE a < 5 and b LIKE '%test%'

SELECT *
FROM myTable
WHERE ID IN (#ArrayToList(toGet)#)

Yes, you do 2 trips to the DB, but the first query is quick and will match all
of your search parameters. Then you just get the ID's that you are interested
in (where in the results the user is). The second query is more time consuming,
but gets only the records you want. This seems to scale well into the hundreds
of thousands of rows, as long your first query doesn't return too many results.

You can obviously make the CF code more efficient, but I just threw this
together.

Re: CFC's and limiting DB queries

2005-06-09 Thread Cedric Villat
Barney,

This is pretty much what I was wanting to do. I think your first post was the
most helpful. I suppose I will implement it right now so that all Person
objects are initialized when the getTeamMembers method is called. If/when the
bottleneck arises, it shouldn't be much more difficult to implement the lazy
loading scheme in the Person object itself.

Thanks for the suggestions, just wondering what other people did.

CFC's and limiting DB queries

2005-06-09 Thread Cedric Villat
There was a post last week about limiting db queries when using CFC's that
return array's of objects, or something to that affect.

My question is, how feasible is this? For example, if I have a Team CFC, which
has a method of getTeamMembers(). I want this method to return of Person
objects. I can then loop through this array and do whatever it is I want to do.

The problem is if the getTeamMembers() method has to initialize each Person
CFC, and the initialize function makes 1 DB call to get that users information,
I could potentially be making 10-20 DB calls just to create my TeamMembers
array. This invariably gets worse if the Person CFC has another method which
runs the init() method of some other CFC.

Is there a better way to do this? Like only initializing the data when it gets
accessed? Or running a specific query which will populate an array of Person
CFC's so it is only 1 DB hit? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Cedric

Re: Case-sensitive Struct keys

2005-02-22 Thread Cedric Villat
Dave,

Any ideas on how to do this? The reason I originally did it in a struct, was I
could simply find the properties of a word, since it was the key. If I organize
the data as an array of structs and have the word value be a key in my struct,
wouldn't that require more overhead when searching for that word? Do you have
any code that would quickly find a word if this was the case?

Re: Case-sensitive Struct keys

2005-02-21 Thread Cedric Villat
Michael,

The reason for this is because I am implementing a Bayesian filter CFC. In
doing so, I create a hash-table of words and their probability of spam. The
probabilities the words "free" and "FREE" would be different. But when I stick
them in a structure, the values get overwritten. Vince's hashtable is really
what I'm after.

I guess either I can use the java hashtable as the solution, or do as Issac
suggested and hash() the key names myself.

Case-sensitive Struct keys

2005-02-21 Thread Cedric Villat
So I guess CF doesn't support case-sensitive keys in a structure. For
example, given the following code:

test = StructNew();
test.a = 5;
test.A = 10;

I would have hoped that 2 keys would have been made, "a" and "A", but
instead only 1 key is made, and has a value of 10. Is there anyway to have
CF use case-sensitive keys so that I could do something like the above to
get 2 keys?

Thanks,
Cedric

Re: RegEx help

2005-02-21 Thread Cedric Villat
Ben,

That makes sense. I get an error though, as it complains about the ?. What are
they for? I thought the ? was the "0 or 1 occurances" operator.

Also, would this cover things like:

12.2.12.12 ?

I noticed that my current regex of
m = REReplace(m, "([0-9])\.([0-9])", "\1|\2", "ALL");

generate 12|2.12|12. I assume this is because the pointer after the first
replace has passed the single "2". Is there a way around that too?

Thanks!

Re: RegEx help

2005-02-21 Thread Cedric Villat
Ade,

No, 10.24 is ok and the period should stay. The only time the period should be
removed is when it does not appear between 2 numbers. These are examples of
where the period should stay:

5.5
50.50
5.50
50.5
a5.6
5.6a

But the following should be removed:

a.1
1.a
a.a

Anything beyong the immediate characters around the period are not important.

Thanks,
Cedric

RegEx help

2005-02-20 Thread Cedric Villat
I'm trying to create a regex that does the following, with little luck so
far.

I want to remove all periods ( . ) that do not appear between 2 numbers. For
instance, I would want to keep this period:

5.5

But not these:

www.domain.com

I want the periods to be replaces with a space in the second example.
Anyone?

Cheers,
Cedric

Re: form action to CFC problems

2005-02-17 Thread Cedric Villat
Michael,

I changed the form method from "post" to "get" so that it passed the form
fields via the URL and magically it started working. What is interesting is
that I am still running this site on 6.1, but CFMX7 is installed on that
machine on the built-in webserver.

Does it make sense that the behavior of my form/cfc would change when running
on the same CFMX 6.1 instance, just because I installed CFMX7 on that machine?

form action to CFC problems

2005-02-17 Thread Cedric Villat
Something strange has just happened. I have a form where the action points
directly to a CFC. This was working great until today. Now when I submit the
form, the page gets redirected to the Component Browser Login page. The only
thing I can think of is that I installed CFMX7. Has anyone seen this? Anyone
have any idea why this started happening or how to stop it so my CFC responds
normally?

Sorry about our site being down. It should (hopefully) be up by the end of the

Also, you should be able to log support calls by creating tickets manually from

SQL - LIKE vs. =

2005-02-16 Thread Cedric Villat
Ok, so I'm seeing something interesting. I have a field in my MSSQL which is of
type TEXT. I have a query that looks like:

SELECT ThreadID
FROM Threads
WHERE Header LIKE

This query will return 0 results. Now if I change the field in the DB to be of
type VARCHAR and do something like:

SELECT ThreadID
FROM Threads
WHERE Header =

This returns 1 record. The #emails.header# contains some carriage returns. That
is the only thing I can think of that is causing the second query to work and
the first query to fail.

Anyone know for sure if this is the reason, or is there something I'm missing?
In the first query I tried placing the %'s around the var, but that didn't
change anything. How can I compare these values if I want to keep the field as
a TEXT type?

Thanks,
Cedric

Sourceless deployment = EAR/WAR?

2005-02-12 Thread Cedric Villat
Am I right to assume that when I hear abour sourceless deployment in CFMX7,
that that really means creating a EAR/WAR package? The thing is I find it
overkill to distribute an application with basically a fully functional
CFAdmin, etc. Is there just a way to create a sourceless package that people
can use on CFMX7? Something like the old encrypt method for files, but
obviously more secure? I haven't seen any details on if this is possible,
and if it is, how to do it.

Anyone know if this is do-able?

Directory where Application.cfm resides

2004-11-28 Thread Cedric Villat
In my Application.cfm file, before the cfapplication tag is defined, I'm
trying to get the absolute path of where the Application.cfm file sits. So
far I've tried GetBaseTemplatePath, ExpandPath("."), and a few other tags to
get the directory path. I can seem to get the right directory if the calling
page is in the same directory as the Application.cfm. If it is in any
subdirectory, that is where I am getting the problem.

If the structure looks like:

c:\inetpub\wwwroot\Application.cfm
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\file1.cfm
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\directory\file2.cfm

Basically, I want to get c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ BEFORE the cfapplication tag is
defined. This needs to happen to matter what template is called, whether
it's file1.cfm or file2.cfm. Like I said beofre, GetBaseTemplate for
file2.cfm would return c:\inetpub\wwwroot\directory\ not c:\inetpub\wwwroot\
.

Any ideas?

Cedric

Here is the function that the error is thrown in:

<--- ERROR HAPPENS HERE EVEN IF I PUT A HERE.

SELECT	UserID AS ID, FirstName, LastName

Only Username and a Password arguments as you can see. Like I said, if I abort immediately within the function, I still get an error.

Name can't be empty error?

2004-10-07 Thread Cedric Villat
This error has just popped up on a clients machine. They rebooted, and now when logging into their app, they get the following error:

 name can't be empty

The error points to a query inside of a CFC. Though I noticed that if I put a right AFTER the arguments are defined but before the query, the error still occurs. If I put a right before the function is called, no problem. What does this error mean? I assume the problem occurs somewhere between when I call my function, and when the function starts executing.

They have tried restarting the CF server and no luck. Anyone seen this before?

Re: Changing text in undelivrable .cfmail file and resending

2004-10-06 Thread Cedric Villat
The reason this wasn't working is because you are not writing the file back out. After you ReplaceNoCase the mail server, you need to use cffile to write the file back into the undeliverable folder.

Though your solution of creating a new cfmail would be just as easy, if not easier, to implement.

We make a ColdFusion help desk called CFTicket. You can find out more about
it at www.cornfeed.com. This is the second version we have released and
should support most features you can think of. There is a demo on there too
so you can play with it and see if it suits your needs. If you have any
questions, feel free to email me directly.

Re: CFPOP streamlining

2004-06-21 Thread Cedric Villat
One thing that I came upon when using CFPOP and deciding which method to
use, is that if you are using CFMX there is a nasty bug that deals with
encoding. Check out
http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg149313.html for
some information. I know Raymond Camden also wrote about this bug on his
blog. See it here:
http://www.camdenfamily.com/morpheus/blog/index.cfm?mode=entry&entry=437EFED9-B15B-8957-860C45AFE6E30A4D .

Basically, if an email comes in with he unsupported encoding type, anytime
you try to do a GETALL with CFPOP, it will break. The only way to recover is
to delete the offending email some other way. Due to this bug, all of our
CFPOP apps now describe your method of retrieving the headers, and then
downloading each piece of email one at a time.

Difficult SQL Question

2004-06-01 Thread Cedric Villat
Ok, I have a bit of a problem with some SQL I'm trying to build. I have a
table of Tickets, and then a table with a list of "fields" that are
associated with tickets. Here are some values for the "fields" table:

TicketID   FieldID   Value
1   1 Hello
1   2 5
2   1 Hello
2   3 Boo
3   2 5

What I want to do is select the TicketID's that have a "(FieldID = 1 AND
Value LIKE 'Hello') AND (FieldID = 2 AND Value = 5)". In this case I would
want Ticket #1 returned. But obviously, this string does not work in the
WHERE clause of my query. What I'm wanting to create is a search where
people can search different FieldID's and their values, and ONLY those
TicketID's matching ALL of the specified fields/values will be returned. I'm
having no luck doing this as each value/field pair is its own row. Besides
using CF to manipulate the data, can I do this in SQL?

Remove multiple carriage returns

2004-05-27 Thread Cedric Villat
I have some text that I need to remove multiple line breaks from. For
example, if my original text is like this:

> Hello

> My text

> goes here

I want the text to be replaced with

> Hello
> My text
> goes here

Basically I want to clean it up so there are no blank lines. Is there a
simple regex or something else to do this? I'm not sure that there will
always be a > in the front, I just want to remove the blank lines.

Re: Softball/Baseball db app? (Maybe OT)

2004-04-20 Thread Cedric Villat
Chris,

I actually just finished doing something like this. It allows for different
divisions (age groups) and then teams in every division. You can create
divisions, teams, and then create games for those teams. You can re-schedule
games, have field information, etc. It will also calculate standings based
upon the results of the game you entered. There was also a bit more for this
site as they wanted it, but the game information could be taken out.

If you want a demo or have questions, email me offlist and I'll do my best.

Parsing HTML Email

2004-02-26 Thread Cedric Villat
So I'm using CFPOP to retrieve email messages and I'm storing the HTML
version of the emails in the database. I'm then parsing the email on
display, but I want to remove any sort of HTML formatting. I've tried 2
methods, and neither seem bulletproof.

First try, I remove all HTML tags from the message using the StripTags udf.
Then I converte all Chr(10)&Chr(13) to for display. This seems ok, but
the StripTags tag seems to remove things BETWEEN tags, so Hello
would actually be removed from the message. Not ideal.

So my second try was to use a RegEx to remove everything contained in a <
and > and also change the carriage returns to 's. Again, this seems ok,
but the output doesn't always come out as desired or the way it *should*
look in plain text.

Is there an easier way to get the plain text version of my stored message?

OT: CFTicket 2.0 Beta Test

2004-02-25 Thread Cedric Villat
Hey Folks,

We just released the first beta of CFTicket 2.0. For those who don't know,
CFTicket is a customer support, trouble ticket application. This new version
uses CFC's and therefore requires CFMX.

We are having an open beta test for anyone who wishes to test. Just
download, install, and presto. We are looking for feedback on features and
any bugs that people find.

You can find more information at http://www.cornfeed.com/beta/ . If anyone
has any other questions or has trouble installing CFTicket 2.0, feel free to
contact me directly off-list.

Thanks,

Getting rid of subquery

2004-01-30 Thread Cedric Villat
Can anyone help me with getting rid of this subquery?

 SELECT  Count(t.Status) AS Count, StatusName
FROM  TicketStatus s LEFT OUTER JOIN
 (SELECT Status
  FROM Tickets t
  WHERE t.Owner = 2) t
 ON t.Status = s.StatusID
 GROUP BY StatusName

Right now, all of the StatusNames are shown, even if their count is 0. I've
tried just about every join I can think of and it always returns the
StatusNames that have a count greater than 0. I want ALL the StatusNames,
even ones with a count of 0. Anyone?

Odd cffile behavior

2004-01-16 Thread Cedric Villat
I'm using cfpop to check mail and download attachments. I'm saving the
attachments cfpop gives me to the GetTempDirectory() value. I'm then trying
to use cffile to move the file where I need it to be. The problem is that I
keep getting this error:

Attribute validation error for tag CFFILE.
The value of the attribute source, which is currently
"C:\CFusionMX\runtime\servers\default\SERVER-INF\temp\wwwroot-tmp\flow3.txt"
, is invalid.

I know the file is there because I can see it, and I also use FileExists on
the same variable that I'm passing to cffile and FileExists says the file is
really there. Has anyone seen this or have any suggestions? This is a local
drive to the server. Anyone?

I had the same problem with disappearing session vars. Not sure if this
applies to you or not, but I had this same thing happen to me when I had an

As soon as I put something in the src, my disappearing session variables
went away. This may have been 6.0 only, not sure though.

application set up which has been working fine.  Now, out of the blue, the
session variable I use to test whether the user is logged in seems to be
either resetting itself or timing out rapidly.  The result is that I can log
in and see the main menu, but then when I click any other link I'm getting
redirected back to the login page.  This used to work fine, so I would
assume that maybe it's just me...I did just download a new firewall so who
knows.  But, I had the same problem about a month ago on another site---same
user login code I've been using forever, and testing was infuriating because
sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't, or it would work fine for
me but not for someone else; in that case, I thought maybe it was an MX
thing since I had just upgraded, but the site causing me my current problems
is still on 5.0.  I did a Google search and I see other people posting
similar problems with session variables sometimes timing out for no apparent
reason, but no one seemed to post a solution.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Thanks. There was actually a small bug in my code. You are correct though, that outputting the var actually does give you a comma-delimited list, even though there are 2 values in the URL. Something in your post made me realize my problem. Brainfart on a Monday :) Thanks.

Re: Select Multiple and GET forms

2003-12-22 Thread Cedric Villat
Peter,

Yes, I have to use GET since I want the variables in the URL. I know #form.foods# gives me the comma-delimited list, but why doesn't #url.foods#? Any more ideas?

Select Multiple and GET forms

2003-12-22 Thread Cedric Villat
I have a form with a select box that can have multiple selected. The form
method is GET. What is happening is if my select box looks like this:

Pizza
Burger
Salad

If I select Pizza and Burger and submit the form, the url has the following:

foods=Pizza&foods=Burger

If I try and then use #url.foods# all that is returned is 'Burger'. How can
I get these values comma separated, such as foods=Pizza,Burger. I know this
is possible with checkboxes, but what about with a multiple select?

Re: SQL Server 2000 and Pagination

2003-12-22 Thread Cedric Villat
Calvin,

I use a combination of 2 queries, which are VERY fast.

SELECT t.TicketID
  FROM Tickets t
  WHERE 1 = 1 AND whateverelse

then

SELECT t.TicketID, etc.
FROM Tickets t
WHERE 1=1 AND same whatever else from above
AND t.TicketID > #ID["TicketID"][Start]# AND
    t.TicketID < #ID["TicketID"][End]#

Basically, this gets ALL the primary keys from the table I'm grabbing from.
Then the second query grabs only the page you are on. So if you wanted to
grab rows 50-75, the first query would return all rows (can be a lot, but
should be fast), and then the second query would only select the ones where
the ID was greater than the 50th entry of ID's and smaller than the 75th
entry of ID's. This seems to work great for us, and executes in under 1
second for even large queries.

Selecting consecutive records

2003-12-11 Thread Cedric Villat
In MySQL there is a LIMIT function when selecting records. This allows for
an beginning row and then to select the next N rows. Is there an equivalent
function for MSSQL or Access? It LIMIT a standard SQL function? If not, what
is the best way to select, say 10 rows from the middle of a set of records?
Obviously I don't want to select 1,000,000 records if I only want records
100-200. Any ideas?

Stas,

To address Tom's comments, CFTicket does not support attachments. We are working on version 2.0 right now which will allow both the sending and receiving of attachments.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me off-list.

Re:JOIN help

2003-11-15 Thread Cedric Villat
No such luck. I had tried that earlier, but tried again just to make sure. A left and right join just return 1 row:

UserID QueueID    AccessID
2  1  0

I never get the NULL row. Any more ideas?

JOIN help

2003-11-14 Thread Cedric Villat
Ok, I need some help with a join. I'm close to what I need, but its not
exactly there. I have some a table called Queues which is basically an
account. Then I have a Users table with my users. I then have a third table
which allows for Users and Queues to be linked together. Here are sample
tables:

Queues
IDName
1  Queue1
2  Queue2

Users
IDUsername
1  User1
2  User2

UserQueues
UserIDQueueID    AccessID
1 2 0
2 1 2
2 2 1

As you can see, in the UserQueues table, user 1 is only linked to Queue2. He
may not have a link to Queue 1. What I need is to select User 1 and ALL
Queues so I get a result like this:

UserID   QueueID    AccessID
1 2    0
1 1    NULL

Here is my query now, but all it returns are rows in which there are entries
in the UserQueues table.

 SELECT Q.QueueID, AccessID, Q.QueueName
 FROM Queues Q
   RIGHT JOIN SecurityXrefUserQueues XUQ
    ON XUQ.QueueID = Q.QueueID
 WHERE XUQ.UserID = #url.uid#

Anyone have any idea how I can get the above result that I need?

SQL Help

2003-10-22 Thread Cedric Villat
I have a database where the day, month, and year are stored as ints. When I
select these 3 columns, I want to make them into a date. Something along
these lines:

SELECT (m_day, m_month, m_year) AS m_date
FROM myTable

Obviously that doesn't work, but is there a way to concatenate the 3 ints to
create a date in the select statement like that?

Re: Legal?

2003-10-08 Thread Cedric Villat
Well, the domain name HE owns. He has since transferred it to a different
host. The website I designed was actually online for a while, but he didn't
pay the host so he was canceled. So all that I did was design the site, for
free, provided I run the site. He is now threatening to sue me, but who
knows. Any ideas? Should I contact a lawyer?

OT: Legal?

2003-10-08 Thread Cedric Villat
Ok, a client of mine has gone nuts. He is an agent for a few celebrities,
and I had offered to create a site for one of his clients free-of-charge
provided I was the one running the site. He has now decided to go to another
designer, and wants me to give him the site, which as I said he has not paid
for.

Now, there is no written contract saying that I would do it for him
free-of-charge, so I guess he has me there. But at the same time, since
there is no contract saying I would do it free-of-charge, since he hasn't
paid me, he is not entitled to the site. I told him if he wanted to pay me
for the work, I would give it to him, but he keeps threatening me of legal
action. Am I wrong here or is he really entitled to the site? Anyone know
anything about the law in this case?

Re:Multilingual site?

Paul,

What is a resource bundle? I'm not familiar with them.

Also, what is the best way to store all the strings needed to display for a particular
language? Should I use a separate table for each language, or just flat text files (I
would assume no, since accents and whatnot may not work)? Any ideas?

Multilingual site?

2003-09-23 Thread Cedric Villat
Ok, so I need to make a site that supports multiple languages. This means
that the db information can be entered in English or French in my case. What
do I need to do so that accents and whatnot are stored and displayed
correctly? Also, I want to keep all the strings used to describe things on
the site in a separate file so that if a person choosed French, then all the
text changes to French. How do people currently do this? If there is some
documentation or something that outlines how to do this, I would appreciate
it.

SOT: Homesite+ docs problem

2003-09-22 Thread Cedric Villat
So I completely re-did my machine this weekend. After reinstalling Homesite+
and updating to 5.2, my Homesite docs are all plain text. For example, if I
go to Help->Open Help References the help files show up fine with the HTML
all intact (Though I couldn't find CF help in there). But, if I go to a tag
in the code and hit F1, the help opens up to the correct tag, but all the
HTML has been stripped. I can see the text, but there are no links, no
nothing as far as HTML goes. Anyone heard of this? I've also updated to the
6.1 tag defs but that didn't fix the problem. Any ideas?

Recursion and Scope problem?

2003-09-18 Thread Cedric Villat
Ok, I'm doing a bit of recursion, and my variables seem to be overwriting
themselves, which makes no sense to me. Here is my code:

In this example, the root_node is "Homer Simpson". He has 3 children Bart,
Lisa, and Maggie. When the function is first run, Arguments.node is "Homer
Simpson". It goes through the code until it gets to the recursive call
getDTreeWidth() which then calls itself for each child. After calling
getDTreeWidth() for Bart, it seems to work. When the function returns a
number and is added to the width, the next time through Homer Simpson's
loop, the root_node is now "Bart Simpson"! How could the recursive call to
Bart Simpson overwrite Homer Simpson's original arguments? Is this a bug or
am I missing something here?

Any help would be appreciated. It may not make sense, so let me know if you
need some more clarification.

Cedric
