Scott, There used to be (probably still is there) a free java based inline HTML editor available on http://javaboutique.internet.com/ I don't know exactly what the name of the tag was. Hi, Now that the Mac IE 5.0 is out has anyone hacked Spectra to recognize this browser to see if the DHTML editor works in it. From what we have seen, it is pretty close to the Win version. RE: Inline html editor
Hey, did a little more digging and found the link to the Java app. I was able to successfully integrate it into a CF content management system, but it has browsers issues as well. From what I recall it worked ok in IE on the PC and Netscape on the Mac, but not Netscape on the PC or IE on the PC. But I was talking to another developer on this list who I think got it working fine for Netscape on the PC... It was developed by some Indian development shop and despite sending a couple of emails inquiring about the applett, I never got any response from them and apparently they have no support page specifically for this applett... The Java one, that's what I want... all the others only seem to work in IE. Thing is that I don't need anywhere near the amount of functionality that some of these programs offer. RE: Inline html editor
There is also a Java Applet which has a limited set of tools, but I don't have the name of it in memory at the moment. As far as Word to html, Andrew, you have gotten me thinking - despite word 2000 putting in all that xml when you save "as html" couldn't you save to RFT and then use a custom tag to covert it - I thought there were more than one out there which dealt with RTF? Or perhaps they are perl scripts? RE: Inline html editor
There are plenty of tags out there that will do the job, however the main problem is that most use functions that will only owrk under Internet Explorer. The method I find the best and I haven't been able to tidy it up to make it into a tag as yet, is to use word and convert it into a html file. Now the major problem here is that Word converts it into xml format so you get a lot of junk that doesn't need to be there as well as not being bale to control the font size etc. So the best method here is to tag what is not needed using regexp. And using the regexp to change the font to friendly fonts and sizes before saving it to the hard drive. At least this way you can overcome the bigger corporations that have departments that dictate what browser you must use. Otherwise I would also suggest ActiveEdit:-) Andrew Scott - Internet Development Totalnet Presence Pty. Ltd. RE: Inline html editor
Hi Chris, We have on at Ektron called eWebEditPro (http://www.ektron.com/products/ewebeditpro.cfm). We have written a tag that replaces the spectra editor tag. We also have our editor working in Netscape but it is still in Alpha. pete, :~~ : From: Peter Tilbrook <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : : The Spectra one doesn't work under Netscape : (apparently) and all sorts of problems occur when : people paste documents from Word into it (I'm sure : you can understand why). :~~ yeah, i can imagine the problems *any* time you paste from word. even if it doesn't work in netscape yet i'd still like to see a demo of it somewhere. sounds quite cool really. anbody? mr. raymond camden? i'm seeing your name on alot of the spectra stuff (ok, so there's not really *that* much) in the tag gallery. thanks, .jeff name://jeff.howden game://web.development http://www.evolt.org/ mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Archives: http://www.eGroups.com/list/cf-talk To Unsubscribe visit http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists&body=lists/cf_talk or send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with 'unsubscribe' in the body.

I dont mumble, I gabble, then ramble on, loosely skirting the relavent subject until finally drawing to a conclusive maybe. the program looks quite good but 800 dollars is a bit steep for something I could write myself in a few days. Inline html editor
OK, here's a stupid idea. We've got a section on one of our sites where people can update the content... sounds bad already yeah? So this is for blocks of text etc. which is good because we don't have to do all of the site content so we can dedicate our time to design etc. But the content involves html, including fonts and breaks.
