Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder! I had a documented! Protecto-Plate 1970 SS, and sold it for a good coin and bought a 1968 SS undocumented except for VIN tag. My beleif is a "68" is great because there aren't as many on the road, and I'm not like 3 other Velle's in the subdivision!!! Not chiming in to argue, just voicing what is fact.

The key lesson for us from this post is torespect
another's passion for whatever vehicle spins their wheels. I came of age(turned
sixteen) in 1967. My passion has always been for the cars built between 64/67,
with the 65 being the apple of my eye. I did not care for the change that took
place in the Chevelles in 68. Even today they are somewhat so so to my eye. It's
all in your personal perspective. I have learned to love all the old cars, yes

My sentiments exactly. Lets
get back to talking cars.

EFI update: My EFI system is running
and drivable. I drove my car about 50-60 miles over the weekend with zero
problems. Its not fully tuned, but it starts and drives. Im
stuck with base timing of 10 degrees (no mechical or vacuum advance) for the
time being. My Megasquirt-II processor showed up, which will allow me to
do computer controlled timing too, but something didnt work right and I
had to ship it back.

Its pretty cool when you start the
car from stone cold and it idles perfect :-)

Cloner,

Your opinion attacked someone's project. You also did it in the presence
of your peers, who all share the same interest in Chevelle's and a like.
Some of your peers stepped up, like many would, if a friend was attacked
verbally or physically. You then proceed to call those who stepped up
loser (should have been plural). You say you have 20 years experience
working on Chevelle's, hopefully during that same time you have learned how
to respectively treat people and have acquired the integrity to apologize
for your actions, learn from it and move on. I think you have a pretty
good idea of how the List of your peers expects we treat each other. If
you disagree, perhaps you should find a new list where people like you and
your opinions will be tolerated.

Big stinkin' deal. I know 3 guys that have the same car and unless it has documentation it's considered a CLONE. Besides, everyone knows that 1970 is the best looking and most desirable. Regardless, you're still a dick. Hey, you're the one that says speak the truth, well there it is.

If we all look at your name copo cloner which tells me that you are one
of these people that go around showing off their wears that are not even what
they represent. We have a guy in our club that is extremely arrogant and
constantly lets his mouth over ride his AH and the sad part of it he doesnt
even realize that he is the only one that likes himself. Smarten up and
let people live their own lives and have fun with what they are doing or like
and encourage them or help them when you can and not have to live by the
standards that because they are yours feel everyone should, or has to live by.

You sound more like a Chrysler, Ford, or Riceburner
man.

Sorry, have had several Chrysler and Ford
products myself and was very happy.

I guess I was just trying to make a point
that he doesnt seem to be a very happy nice Chevy type guy. They
always seem nice, willing to help with almost anything, and complement not
degrades others even though it might not be their particular thing. I
guess hes one of the 1-5% you find no matter what you attempt to do, or
be involved in.

Then
why are you insulting people instead of attempting to help them. Dumb
ideas in mind I guess Ford shouldnt have attempted to mass
produce his cars, I am sure a lot of people thought that was a dumb idea at the
time. What is dumb to one person is not necessarily dumb to everyone
else, so maybe if it bothers you, you should just ignore it. I am sorry
we are not all as intelligent as you or have all of the information you do, so
we do have to ask I guess what you are calling stupid questions, but that is
how we learn and why the web sight exists not to tear down and insult people
for asking an honest question to them, but stupid to you. If you want to
help then be nice and help answer the questions being asked.

I admit I do not know everything I need to
know, but because of people like you I do not ask the questions on this sight
that I need to, and have only recently started writing at all mainly to counteract
people like you. Actually a big waste of time and I think I will follow
my own advise in the future and ignore people like you and correspond with the
99% of helpful nice people on this web sight.

the 79 elcamino has very little value, personalI would not look once
at it let alone twice, you might want to rethink, that project. go with a older

throwing your cash out the window. the 60 and 69 years models
with a original big blockengines are your best choose for restoration,

Well it's not your choice so what does it matter to you. Maybe he likes the car. I guess you would have a problem with someone that wants to build a 77 Malibu Classic too. nothing wrong with that car either. Some people are not in it for the investment aspect, just for the fun of it and that is what should be encouraged. Basically you said "that car is a worthless POS". Once again, not your decision to build it. I've been working on/restoring/modifying my 86 Cutlass since I got it back in 1997. I've probably dumped well over $5000 into it between engines, transmission, rears, etc, but guess what, I choose to and it's my business, no one elses. Will I ever get that kind of $$ if I decide to sell it, nope, but I could care less because I don't plan on selling it anytime soon.

I try to stay out of things like this, but
copocloner did come off sounding a bit harsh. The original poster was
just trying to get a recommendation for a local mechanic to fix some carb
issues. Sorry, I dont know any Florida mechanics.

Frankly, Id love to find a good
78-87 Elky for a daily driver. If theres a rust-free one around
for $800, Id buy it. I miss the ease of hauling things I had with
my 72. V8 power, it aint 5000+ lbs like a full-size pickup,
and itll fit in my 20-foot deep garage. Perfect for urban rednecks
like me. :-)
