Cisco Book, High Availability Networking with Cisco

2001-03-25 Thread AABAN34

I just bought the High Availability Networking with Cisco router and I
must say it's OUTSTANDING. The author goes into many great topic's, that
other books don't. I would encourage everyone to at least look at it.

You can get online or your local book store

Two ISP's

2001-03-12 Thread AABAN34

I have one ISP with 192K going to the Internet and I am using NAT not PAT
to resolve my UN-register to register to the Internet. I now want to add a
differant ISP now to the same router, a full T/1. What are the pro's and
con's to this? I need to keep the 192k for reason's but 100 share the 192K
link and it's slow. I need to setup NAT on T/1 interface I know that? should
I use policy routing coming from my LAN to the T/1? would this work?

ip route 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.255 BRI0 X.X.X.X 200

dividing up the same subnet on 2 diff segments

2000-08-26 Thread AABAN34

  Hi

I have a question? I have two routers okay and I have routing turned on
(EIGRP). lets say I want to use 10.1.1.0 . I want to be able to to split this
subnet into two networks, I know you use IP subnet-zero to do this, I want
address the first router E0 Interface with 10.1.1.1 to 10.1.1.126 and the
second router E0 with the second half 10.1.1.127 to 10.1.1.254 ok. Now I want
to be able to ping each others gateway.
Can I or should I be able to ping each others gateway and have one flat
segment between 2 router Ethernet segments. Do I need to bridge this? I know
this can be done, I was in class a while ago and my teacher explain to me how
this would work, but it was a long time ago.

Proxy-Server over 3 Subnets

2000-08-24 Thread AABAN34

I have this question about proxy-server? I have WIN98SE that has my dial-up
to the Internet and I have proxy-server on this PC too , this is connected to
one of my Cisco routers ; I have 3 router that are connected together running
EIGRP IP only. I have 3 other pc's connected to each one my routers, not
including my proxy-server ( 4 pc's in total) . The pc that is on the same
subnet as the proxy-server works just fine, I had set all the right setting
in my IE 5.0 for proxy-server for all of my pc's, but the other 2 pc's can
not connect to the internet for some reason. I had done traces and pings to
the proxy-server with no replays, but I can ping each other just fine. Does
proxy-server only work on the same subnet as your workstation, that is going
to use the Internet or is their a way for my other 2 pc's can utilize the
proxy-server like the one that is on the same subnet as the proxy-server is?

Loopbacking the Router?

2000-07-27 Thread AABAN34

just to let you know that you can set a loopback on a Cisco router from the
router ?

You must be in the priv mode not user mode to put the router in loopback.

  Router#
  Router#conf ter ( hit enter )
  Router(config)#int s0 ( hit enter )
  Router(config-if)#LOOPBACK (hit enter )
  Router(config-if)#end (hit enter )
Router#sho int s0 ( you will now see the serial interface in loopback)

To remove the loopback from the serial interface just reload the router or
do this:

  Router#
  Router#conf ter ( hit enter )
  Router(config)#int s0 ( hit enter )
  Router(config-if)#NO LOOPBACK (hit enter )
  Router(config-if)#end (hit enter )
Router#sho int s0 ( you will now see the serial interface out of the
loopback)
