Yes it does in IOS v12.0.

Re: OSPF config line!!!

2000-07-14 Thread Daniel Beynon

I found this is the archives on groupstudy:

The command "ip ospf interface-retry 0" is classed as a bug, DDTS number
CSCdp64394 refers.
It should be a hidden command but has been unhidden due to a non
default setting being coded in. As you can see the default should be
"10" this is fixed in 12.0(9.1)

Customers running OSPF and upgrading to 12.0(8)S will notice the
"ip ospf interface-retry 0" is automatically added to every interface.
This can cause some problems (like interface state being Up, but OSPF
state being Down) in high end routers, with a lot of interfaces.

Workaround:
Configure "ip ospf interface-retry 10" on all interfaces. This will
get nvgen'ed. And is a more appropriate value for this functionality.

Re: Help can not ping accross a Frame Relay link

2000-07-17 Thread Daniel Beynon

Check to ensure that the destination router has a route back
to the subnet configured on the E0 interface. You can perform
a extended ping from the router using the source address from
the E0 interface and see if this works.

Hope this helps,

Re: ip unnumbered??

2000-07-19 Thread Daniel Beynon

Frame-relay providers are not at all concerneted with
your layer 3 addressing (IP). They are strickly involved
with layer2 in this case your DLCI. All routing in their
network is based on the DLCI not the IP. The router in
the customer network will make the IP routing decisions
which in turn are mapped to Frame-relay DLCI's. If using
map commands you can see.

Frame-relay map IP 1.1.1.1 200 broadcast.
(This tells the router that IP address 1.1.1.1/subnet is
mapped to DLCI 200.

The IP unmunbered in this case is taking the same subnet
from E0 and placing it on the frame-circuit (Layer 3). This
cuts down the the number of IP subnets and routing table size
used in a network.

Hope this helps?

Re: two routers & EIGRP

2000-07-24 Thread Daniel Beynon

First off EIGRP uses AS's in the ROUTER EIGRP 10
config line. Are both of your routers in the same AS.

Second, issue the SHOW IP EIGRP INTERFACE and if you do
not see the interface show up, then your network command
is not correct.

Also issue a SHOW IP EIGRP NEIGHBOR to see if anything
shows up.

Please verify above and provide configs if you want to
persue this issue

Hope this helps.

RE: ATM configuration

2000-08-15 Thread Daniel Beynon

Jim,

In configuring LANE the only thing needed on the
LS1010 is the NSAP address on the LECS. This
is done with the following command pointing to the
router that you have chosen to be the LECS.

atm lecs-address-default 47.0091.8100..0050.736f.6a01.00b0.c2e8.bc8f.00
1

Hope that answers your question.

Jim,

The only other config on the LS1010 is the actual NSAP
address. The command is

atm address 47.0091.8100..0050.736f.6a01.0050.736f..00

This is in global config.

Hope this helps,

Re: OT: Justifying CIR Increases

2000-07-05 Thread Daniel Beynon

One quick correction on the reply below. The dropped packet
counter in the "show frame-relay pvc" is defined as the
following:

dropped pkts: Number of incoming and outgoing packets dropped
by the router at the Frame Relay level.

So the counter it is not reflecting the amount of packets
dropped in the Frame-relay cloud, but by the local router.

Also AT&T should be able to provide you with a report for your
port off of their switch. I would contact your sales rep and
demand one.

Re: I have a dumb question

2000-07-06 Thread Daniel Beynon

The said is the following:

The Catalyst 5000 series switch uses the SAID parameter of the set vlan
command to identify each VLAN on an 802.10 trunk. The default
SAID for VLAN 1 is 11, for VLAN 2 is 12, for VLAN 3 is 13, and
so on.

802.10 Protocol on FDDI Ports

VLANs can be extended across an FDDI network by multiplexing switched
packets over a Copper Distributed Data Interface (CDDI)/FDDI
interface using the 802.10 protocol. Using 802.10, Catalyst 5000
CDDI/FDDI interface links can operate as interswitch trunks that
provide broadcast control between configured VLANs. The 802.10
protocol encapsulates a VLAN identifier and packet data according to
the IEEE 802.10 specification. CDDI/FDDI interfaces that support
802.10 make selective forwarding decisions within a network domain
based upon the VLAN identifier.

The VLAN identifier is a user-configurable four-byte SAID. The SAID
identifies traffic as belonging to a particular VLAN. It also
determines which VLAN each packet is switched to the bus.

Hope that answers your question.

The rip routes were learned over a link that was part of the

they were learned over a link that was not part of the same
network they would have the classful mask 255.255.0.0

Re: Route Redistribution

2000-07-10 Thread Daniel Beynon

Darren,

I would use a route-map for this. You could set the map
to permit and deny routes as well as set different metrics.

Here is an example:
200.1.1.0 filter out (Deny)
206.18.135.0 set metric 2000 50 255 1 1500
10.0.0.0 set metric 1 30 255 1 1500
all other routes set metric 1 10 255 1 1500

Access-list 1 permit 200.1.1.0 0.0.0.0

Access-list 2 permit 206.18.135.0 0.0.0.0

Access-list 3 permit 10.0.0.0 0.0.0.0

route-map test deny 10
match ip address 1

route-map test permit 20
match ip address 2
set metric 2000 50 255 1 1500

route-map test permit 30
match ip address 3
set metric 1 30 255 1 1500

route-map test permit 40
set metric 1 10 255 1 1500

router eigrp 100
redistribute static route-map test

Hope this answers your question.

Dan

Richard,

Trunking is only supported in the enterprise image release. You do not
have that image
