Re: Router Error [7:31055]

2002-01-06 Thread George Murphy CCNP, CCDP

Russ, its time to start to sniffing. Find out where all traffic is
coming from. The last time this kind of thing happened to me, it ended
up being a couple of Win2k servers on the campus that were beginning
load balancing and spewing multicasts. There are some easy cheap
sniffers out there or something like NDG's Etherboy will display a quick
and dirty on traffic from hosts and top talkers

Re: Anyone Higher? - FR Uptime [7:30920]

2002-01-04 Thread George Murphy CCNP, CCDP

This is a great topic! I deal with the same type issues regularly and
even in the texas metro areas. I will never forget hearing th old addage
"Frame Relay is considered unreliable". As well, I went to Network
Solutions training held by Global Knowledge in November which covered,
designing service provider networks using ATM, Frame Relay, BGP, MPLS
etc. It gave us a lot of insight into the real scenarios. The instructor
was an older person who was experienced and smart as a tack. I had to
ask him (even with providers in the class) "what the hell's up with
frame relay bouncing around so much?", and he said "They are screwing
with things, making upgrades, etc, but they will never tell you
that" but not to blame the providers, its back to frame relay's need
for maintnance, etc. Since we have had our own ATM cloud, (partial
upgrade for some of our 24 entities) I have noticed the "lack" of issues
compared to those still on frame through a provider. Hope this sheds
light

Re: Need BCRAN latest Dumps! [7:28236]

2001-12-10 Thread George Murphy CCNP, CCDP

I found that in the CCNP track, dumps were not necessary to pass. It was
kind of like a college course with concepts and lots of basic theory
application. You just had to commit to studying the material either way
or you risk failing due to % of possible questions. The materials are
easily learnable and not so in depth, just the beginning brushings of
the deep concepts. In my everyday duties, I find that the things I
"REALLY" run into are what counts. Like multi vendor equipment working
together...etc, real challenges, not "What is the North American ISDN
standard?" type BS and even the CCIE is a 1 product certification. In
essence, its the real world experience that is making the $$$. Anyone
who braindumps though will have a case of "dirt-and-pebble" mouth from
falling on their face anyway. I do have an appreciation for people who
really learn the material, because I have seen them be effective in
situations due to the fact that they were up to date on the current
technologies and "fresh" from their training and studying. These folks
did not have the most experience, but they were good troubleshooters and
well trained.

Just my .02
Cheers!

Re: VPN + 1720 [7:27841]

2001-11-30 Thread George Murphy CCNP, CCDP

Good timing Paul, I just installed a VPN module in a 1720 last week. I
have configured the router (after updating the IOS) to establish a
tunnel as a simple router to router "peer" over the internet, but it is
not complete because the other side is not completely installed yet.
Here are the links I used to get tips. Scroll down to about 1/2 of the
page and you will see examples for several scenarios. They are pretty
handy and should save you some time. There is even a link to enable SSH
on the routerGood Luck!

has said at examnotes.net in the forums it is a wordy exam but I found
it to be fairly easy and passable. Just keep in mind that it is a
"concept" exam and make sure to brush up on all of the areas and you
will do fine. One thing I have done that has always helped is to pool
about 400 questions and go over them each day a week before the exam.

Re: WOULD HAVING MCSE GREATLY HELP CISCO CAREER????? [7:23332]

2001-10-18 Thread George Murphy CCNP, CCDP

Jason, this is one of the best questions I have seen in a while!... The
reason is I do
have my CCNP and CCDP as well as MCSE 4.0 (With Win2k knowledge) and have
been in
countless scenarios where (in my full time job), the things I know about
Microsoft have
led me right to the problem even though they (users, mgrs) all claim
"Network Problem".
Just the other day two load balancing 2k servers were spewing multicasts and
bringing
down network resources like U.S. Jet Fighters on Taliban bunkers. It was
this knowledge
and the sniffer that got the answer and made me look like I was on top. Also
(part time
side job). All of the small business consulting I am doing is requiring the
"Whole
Picture" type consulting. I am able to provide MCSE, CCNP, CCDP and
sometimes A+ type
advice at a pretty penny, and what makes the penny shine most brightly is
the all-in-one
package they experience. Best of luck to you, hope this helps

mostly uptime from the provider but cell is also a driving force. We have
just rolled
ATM out (about 3 months ago) and it seems that I am fielding frame outages
reguarly and
my new ATM sites have been more stable. We are 24x7, so outages are ugly to

Dovelet, is this just happening on off3 and off4?, what are the other
stats for the interface when you show them. How a bout a "show

and then "no shut" on each interface and then watch for a while. What
IOS are you running on that 7200 ?, are there any bugs that could be
fixed by updating the IOS ?, dig around at Cisco's site as well.

In my humble opinion you could pass and I am always impressed by and

better to at least use a simulator or get a hold of a used 2500 series
or something off of e-bay Good luck.

Hi Folks, I am seeking advice on materials for the CCIE written and lab

I thought it was difficult in the broad spectrum that was needed to be
prepared and the
822 score requirement. I failed it the first time by and 803. I then went
through the
CCNP and CCDP passing all the first time and felt each was easier due to the
"one" focus
of each individual exam.

Re: Taking CCNA test tomorrow - any last minute hint [7:14297]

2001-07-30 Thread George Murphy CCNP, CCDP

Get a good nights rest (dont lay there thinking about reviewing). When you
get up in the
morning eat a good breakfast then go over every review question you have at
least twice.
Then go over the www.cramsession.com study guide for CCNA right before the
exam to keep
a fresh perspective on the basics. Last but not least, right before the
exam, close your
eyes and picture the "Congratulations" screen. Good luck, hope my .02 cents
helps.
