Re: Nooo! I failed! what now?
Hey Al, It looks to me like you were studying from an older 407 exam prep book. Cisco added quite a few WAN and Switch questions to the 407 test pool late last year. Check the publisher's web site for errata and updates. I got a large Chapter 11 update from the Sybex site for my 407 Study book that had a great deal of WAN stuff in it that the original book did not cover. The errata sheet also had fixes for the review questions that didn't seem quite right. Since it's now after July 31, 2000, you'll have to take the 507 CCNA 2.0 test. You did good to buy the two study books. I would also invest in a Boson practice test. Re: Nooo! I failed! what now?
hey no big deal look at it as $100 invested into the future .. No one said the tests will be easy ( sure few have but many know better) What's the big rush if you pass this week next week or in 10 weeks what is the most important fact about passing.. ? Some silly letters after your name or a strong basic foundation to build more knowledge on. Me thinks the latter is more important. Go get yourself a router to play and you will pass the ios portion and learn some troubleshooting . The more I play with this stuff the more FOR ME I realize that there is NO book in the world going to teach me all of this only just supplement knowledge at best. AN important factor maybe for you to understand why you did not pass . Maybe look at alternate learning methods , maybe you may have the same problem as me read but can't remember so I do it then I remember. Hmm let me re-phrase that I do remember by reading but I remember more by doing .. I have an app lying around somewhere that helps you define which part of your brain you use during the learning process. I will dig it out and throw it on my web site for you. Don;t let this be a problem it's just a fumble in the game the key is to learn from the mistake and go forward . Thats why we have our eyes in the front of our head. A mistake only retains it's status by repetition. .. and I just realized - you really haven't re-scheduled 407 in a week and a half because today is the last day for the test. You may be booked (probably) for the 507 - CCNA 2.0 - which by all accounts is much different. You may want to think twice and find out what's different before taking your second try at it. Is there a reason to rush it now that you have to take the version 2.0 exam?? I missed it also, and that puts us both in the same boat. The 407 was CCNA 1 and now we have to study for the 507 or CCNA 2. Re: Nooo! I failed! what now?
Not getting "personal" here but you do have some pretty low scores in there. Only you know how much self study you put in, at this point I would only ask - how did you verify that what you studied matched the requirements? There could be discussions galore on "practice" exams but I think they're a great tool to show you where you're weak. However, you've seen the exam once and your score indicates where you're weak. A week and a half to go might not be enough - but then you're trying to beat the 31 July deadline aren't you :-) I would get at least one exam from Boson. For $39, it's cheap. Al, You are now in a very powerful position, you HAVE ALREADY SEEN THE TEST! This is practically legalized cheating!
