They also reduce the amount of oxygen in the lab to simulate networking at high altitudes. The proctors stand over your shoulders and scream in your ear just like a military boot camp. You aren't allowed to use the show run command and must type everything exactly right the first time. Seriously You can wear whatever you like. I've worn shorts with a t-shirt and I've noticed candidates in sandals. Just be comfortable. -Original Message- From: Steven A. Do you know any network engineer who goes to work in a suit? ;-) No, you do not have to wear a suit. Dress comfortably, but it won't hurt to dress professionally as well. John >>> "Steven A. Actually, it was a suit but is now even more formal. If you don't a tux rent one.. Preferably one of them nice powder-blue jobs.. They seem to give higher scores based on color coordination as well, so be sure your shoes and socks are in line with the rest. - Original Message - From: "Jim Brown" To: Sent: Tuesday, December 18, 2001 5:14 PM Subject: RE: Proper dress for CCIE lab? If you wore a suit, they would know you weren't a real engineer and flunk you immediately! ;-) (Unless you were Vint Cerf.) You compared it to the Novell instructor test, which is comparing oranges and apples. To become a Cisco instructor, your manners, speech, dress, etc. would be relevant. In that case business clothes would be expected, although not necessarily a suit in this day and age, I would guess. Priscilla >-Original Message- >From: Steven A. RE: Proper dress for CCIE lab? [7:29524]
Steve, You have a couple of options. There have been some good advice on this list about how to prepare for the CCIE lab clothing exam. 1)A good place to start is with the All-in-One suit. This will get your feet wet about what to expect. 2)Suiting for TCPIP vol1 is really good. Great for Internal Suiting Protocols. 3)Khakis,Polos,Sweaters for CCIEs has had great review. This one provides a structured outline of the clothing lab. 4) And don't forget to have a rack of clothes to try on. Either you can rent rack time or build one yourself. Many people opt to build their own. 5)Practice,Practice,Practice!!! You need to make sure that you have extensive hands on. Doesn't mean you have to be Versace or anything, just make sure that you know the basics cold. Things like color and texture will play a key role in your exam. Good luck! -junovtv Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=29558&t=29524 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

To become a Netacad instructor at our college, you must dress slovenly, slur your speach, and show utter disdain for your students. "Cisco" culture does not require you to wear a suit to work. I don't think it would be fair for them to make no-employees pay money to play dress up. Re: Proper dress for CCIE lab? [7:29524]
I was amused by this thread and read most of the other responses. I'd say most of them were right on track (NOT). But they were amusing. I'll add to the amusement. If you wear a proper dress and you're a guy, you'd surely get the proctors' attention. Especially if you shave your legs. You might even scare them into passing you. My experience - dress comfortably. Be prepared for cold. And warm. Be hygienic. (for the real nerds out there, that means take a shower and brush your teeth. and try not to sweat/perspire too profusely) I never did see a sign in there that said "no shoes, no shirt, no service" (oops, is that an NDA violation?) Also, wearing a NerdGear t-shirt with subnets/masks and the Class A B C definitions would probably NOT be recommended. Although I've debated wearing mine on Jan 15th, 2002 just for kicks. However, all this is moot and conjecture until one 1) passes their Written Exam 2) schedules their Lab Exam. 3) actually shows up for their Lab. mirthfully, -e- - Original Message - From: "Steven A. Hwell, I only know one or two of the ladies in person, but you're not necessarily far off. I can think of one Cisco Press author, a thorough expert in her subjects (plural), that is a distance runner and looks...impressive...in her running outfits. Mind you, I've unfortunately lost touch with someone that worked for me as a very competent software developer (CLNP and ISIS conformance testing), and subsequently was an instructor for Synoptics. Her main outside interest was being a cheerleader for the Washington Redskins, and also, I believe, did some fashion modeling. So assumptions and reality may, or may not, be congruent. > >(Note to all the ladies on this list: We know the above isn't true, but >since >most on the list don't know what we look like, why not give their >imaginations >something to work with. [7:29524] I was amused by this thread and read most of the other responses. As a different picture, whenever I've seen Priscilla in formal presentations where casual wasn't appropriate, her business attire is straight from "dress for success." On a different note, I can think of times that I'm not sure my then-female manager dressed to kill, but certainly backstabbed a lot. Ninja outfits would have been a clue. I will say that at Nortel, a general rule was that any female manager had significant clue, where it was fairly random among male managers.
