Stus-List 3D File

2018-09-05 Thread Rob Ball via CnC-List
As a new owner of a 34 (38 years old) I want to try to create a 3D file of the
boat . . . . .
Does anyone out there have anything already that is close to a C&C 34 . . . . ?
I can manipulate a different boat if anyone has one that is similar . . . .
I'm using a Program called MicroStation, but I can import most types of 3D
files . . . .

In cleaning out the lazarette recently, I discovered a couple of items that may
be useful to the listers here.

I have an aluminum radar reflector [approx. diameter = 12.5", and in very good
condition] and a I have a new, still-in-the-box VETUS water-lock exhaust
[approx. 8 1/4" H, 4 1/2" W, 14 1/4"L, Intake = 50MM OD, Exit = 45MM OD].

I'm happy to package and ship if the recipient would kindly make a donation to
this list, in the amount of the shipping cost.

Please contact me off list for details, if interested.

2018-09-05 Thread William Hall via CnC-List
Rob,

There are easier and faster ways to do this - but if you come up dry and
want to try to make a 3D model of YOUR boat, and you were able to take
pictures from numerous angles (while out of the water, perhaps - a drone
might be a good way to do this) I'd be happy to run it through a
photogrammetry stack for you. The best results come from photos taken in
overcast conditions to minimize specular reflections, and even then aren't
perfect. But it's still pretty amazing stuff. I think I'll have to try it
with my boat this winter. Probably need about 100 pictures to get good
coverage.

I have A DXF of mine, I can send you. You could scale it down, but not sure
how much of it you could use. But I added all the rigging, sails, etc.

A Friend of mine who taught 3D Modeling and Printing created the hull from
my line drawings. Think he used Pro Engineer, Wildfire.

Another Possibility is Andy Burton, he does half hulls and probably already
has that in his library.

Stus-List Annapolis C&C Rendezvous event schedule

2018-09-05 Thread Dennis C. via CnC-List
There being no seemingly other event schedule, how's this?

Friday 4-7 Arrivals, cocktails, meet & greet on pier, pot luck food
Saturday 1-5 Boat tours, cocktails
5 ish Dinner ashore at McGarvey's (2-3 minute walk walking
distance from City Dock)
Sunday Boats depart

Alternative

Annapolis Performance Sailing would be happy to host a demonstration on
splicing, whatever but stated it would have to be at their store, 20 minute
walk from City Docks. Could schedule so that we eat at Boatyard on way
back instead of McGarvey's.

Some of the participants will have vehicles but transportation for everyone
to APS is unclear.

Need to decide on restaurant so we can reserve space.

There is the option of taking the water taxi from City Dock over to Chart

For those who like or need running rigging, APS has a crazy good

Fawcetts is a 10 minute drive from the dock if anyone needs hardware, or

2018-09-05 Thread Josh Muckley via CnC-List
Looks good by me.

As for pot luck, I have a Pro-Select pressure cooker and have reached out
to Brian Fry who also has one. Brian is giving consideration to pot luck
contributions. I'm intending to demo the pressure cooker by doing a
chicken burrito bowl recipe and maybe a pulled pork (or chicken) barbecue.
I was thinking about also doing marinaded chicken sewers on the grill and
Jalapeno poppers in the oven. We also make a popular guacamole. We'll be
"partying" as long as everyone is still present

I think the wife and I (at least) will be finding time to go tour the Naval
Academy. I didn't know much about the tour but a recent acquaintance
informed me that it was an awesome tour and museum. We'll find time
probably on Sunday.

We just got back from the Kentucky Bourbon Trail earlier this year so we'll
probably bring a wide selection of spirits for everyone to try.

My intention is to arrive sometime on Thursday and leave sometime on Monday
or Tuesday.

We'll have a car parked locally for anyone who needs.

Stus-List C&C 30 Mk1 - Issue at top of mast when Furling

2018-09-05 Thread Wade Harrogate via CnC-List
Hey Everyone,
I have a small problem, hoping someone has seen before. I recently had a piece
of equipment break or fail at the top of my mast. I am pretty sure it was used
to hold the genoa halyard (which is half wire - half rope) against the mast so
that it would not interfere with the rolling or unrolling of the genoa. The
piece broke off and I need to replace it as my furling is constantly getting
caught or hung up now. Is this shackle or guide called a Fairlead? I need to
buy one asap. As I don't know what it looked like, or have a reference to what
I need, any advice would be welcome. Thanks

If the Harken Halyard restrainer is too expensive and/or bulky for your
forestay/mast angle, you can mount as simple bale to the mast that will work as
well.

Without the halyard restrainer the headsail may not furl and unfurl
properly without wrapping the halyard. Did the whole thing come off or
just the sheave and pin? The pin is just held in by cotter pins and if
they wear/fall out then the pin can work free and drop the sheave. Here
are a few pictures that I happen to have of mine. Its the small sheave
that the blue line runs under.
