For patch7, probably some more thinking is needed. Currently LSB 1.3 states that msgfmt should silently allow duplicate msgid's with --output-file option, but some thinks that current implementation in gettext is better (http://www2.linuxbase.org/talks/sa20030521.html). I also think that allowing duplicate msgid's is not a good thing... Besides, "domain" directive is not ignored as LSB expected. Charles has managed to get gettext build with libtool 1.4. Charles, where's your spec? And I have updated some other things -- fixed up libtool 1.5 so that it won't pick up pre-installed gettext 0.11.5 libraries (I do this because libtool 1.5.x is expected to go into cooker some time later), fixed patch5, and other things. It just put the -L$DESTDIR/usr/lib argument _after_ all other -L arguments, and let libtool re-re-re-re-revert it until it becomes first argument. But somehow some packages still manage to get the library path order wrong. I have made another libtool patch in gettext package below that IMO does the right thing; after all the reverting of arguments is done, it puts -L$DESTDIR/usr/lib unconditionally in front of all other arguments. I've put up another package that corrects other patches and have java stuff splitted. Now only the LSB/Li18nux conformance patch is not integrated. To make msgfmt fully comply with LSB 1.3, some more work is needed. I was trying to make big modification to gettext spec (cleanup, split java subpackage etc), and submit to gc afterwards for review. Gettext package really needs some love now. After sending I realized what was causing this. The gettext.spec runs %configure2_5x --enable-shared --with-included-gettext but it should be %configure2_5x --enable-shared --with-included-gettext --without-java Without that addition at configure, if gcc-java is installed, the default is to build with java which does require that libiconv.so.2 be present.
