Related links CERT information on Melissa virus Microsoft patch The ''Melissa macro'' or W97M_Melissa virus spreads via infected e-mail and attacks computers loaded with Microsoft's widely used Word 97 or Word 2000 programs, according to CERT - or Computer Emergency Response Team - Carnegie Mellon's Department of Defense-funded computer security team. CERT first heard of the virus Friday afternoon and its members worked through the night to analyze the virus and develop a fix, CERT manager Katherine Fithen said. ''We're getting so many reports from across the world, that we know this is going to be a huge problem come Monday,'' Fithen said. She noted that since CERT was founded 10 years ago, this is only the second time it has considered a virus important enough to warrant a public announcement. The first, in 1994, warned of a virus that allowed computer burglars to collect passwords. CERT has not determined where the Melissa virus originated. Fithen said she is not allowed to say whether any governmental agency has suffered a security breach as the result of Melissa. Microsoft spokesman Adam Sohn said company programmers worked with CERT and manufacturers of anti-virus programs to develop an antidote. If a computer user opens an infected Word-format document, the virus propagates itself by reading the user's e-mail address book and sending an infected message to the first 50 entries, CERT said. The message can include the contents of any Word document that is open on the computer, Fithen said. Also, the virus reproduces and sends so much unwanted e-mail that the volume can overload some mail servers, the computers that distribute e-mail. However, it apparently causes no direct damage to a computer's memory or programs. Infected documents are sent as attachments to e-mails most frequently bearing a header: ''Subject: Important Message From'' the name of person whose computer relayed the virus. The body of the message says ''Here is that document you asked for ... don't show it to anyone else ;-).'' By Rob Lemos, ZDNN March 27, 1999 7:13 PM PT Updated 6:00 PM PT The "Melissa" virus continued to spread across the Internet this weekend, causing a growing number of e-mail disruptions and prompting federal law enforcement agencies to issue a special warning. The warning from the FBI and National Infrastructure Protection Center marked the government's first major attempt to prevent a computer disaster. In a statement issued Sunday, the NIPC, a special unit created to protect the nation's information assets, said it had received "widespread reports" that the virus has propagated into commercial, government and military e-mail gateways and systems. Security experts characterized Melissa as the fastest-spreading computer virus they've ever encountered. They reported a mounting number of incidents, even as even e-mail traffic underwent its traditional weekend slowdown. Officials of the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) at Carnegie Mellon University reported that by early Sunday evening more than 100 sites hade been hit by the virus. "These organizations have hundreds and thousands of machines that can't get e-mail," said Jeff Carpenter, the team leader for incident response. But that's nothing compared to what could happen on Monday, said CERT's Carpenter. "When the workforce goes back to work, this is going to be a major problem," he said. How Melissa works The Melissa virus is essentially a simple Word macro, which is a script for automating tasks within Word documents. Have an opinion on this story? In some cases, however, the virus can even spread automatically among those users who have configured their systems not to not notify them when as macro is launched. The macro prompts Microsoft's Outlook e-mail program to send a document to the first 50 addresses in a user's address book, under the subject line "Important Message From" and then the user's name. "Here is the document that you asked for," the text inside the message reads. "Don't show anyone else ;-)." Even people who don't use Outlook are at risk. __ Stratfor's FREE Kosovo Crisis Center - http://www.stratfor.com/KOSOVO/crisis/ The most comprehensive coverage of the Kosovo Crisis anywhere on the Internet __ STRATFOR's Global Intelligence Update March 29, 1999 Kosovo Crisis Points to Global Realignment Summary: Stratfor predicted both the Kosovo crisis and Serb-Iraqi collaboration in our January 1999 Annual Forecast. We also said that the Russians were critical to these situations. Our reasoning: the world is in a massive realignment designed to create an international system that can limit U.S. power. The Kosovo crisis is not so much a Russian trap for the Americans as an American created trap for itself, a gift to those who want to bring the U.S. down several notches. Analysis: On January 4, 1999, our Annual Forecast stated that: "The Serbs, supported by the Russians, will test the United States in Kosovo. There is increasing danger of a simultaneous challenge from Serbia and Iraq, straining U.S. military capabilities dramatically." Then, on January 25, 1999, we wrote the following: "Something odd is going on. The Iraqis are not allowing the latest crisis to die down, but are challenging U.S. aircraft with missiles and are deploying forces southward. Their newspapers are full of threats directed toward Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. At the same time, the Serbs deliberately carried out a massacre that was intended to be detected, and then intentionally exacerbated the crisis by trying to expel a senior diplomat. There is now the real possibility that Baghdad and Belgrade are coordinating their actions to simultaneously pose challenges that strain U.S. military capabilities. At the same time, Russia has taken on a much more assertive role, demanding that the U.S. not attack either Iraq or Serbia. The U.S. Post-Cold War coalition has completely broken down. Russia, France and China are all resisting the U.S. A window of opportunity has opened here for the Iraqis and Serbs. We see signs that they are now taking advantage of it, perhaps in concert." Today's British Sunday Telegraph is reporting that Yugoslavia and Iraq in fact signed a secret cooperation treaty. Under the agreement, Iraq would provide Yugoslavia oil and money in return for Yugoslavian help in rebuilding Iraq's air defenses. According to a British Foreign Ministry spokesman quoted by The Telegraph: "We are aware of the reports that there is a connection between the Iraqi and the Serbian regimes. Obviously this is a cause for concern and demonstrates the sort of company that Milosevic is now keeping. The Prime Minister is aware of these reports. Nothing would surprise us about Saddam or Milosevic." In other words, the British are confirming the reports. The point here is not simply to demonstrate how right we were, although we don't mind if anybody notices. Rather, it is to try to demonstrate that things are not as chaotic as they appear. There are broad, global forces at work that have led the world to this current crisis in Yugoslavia and which point the way to events beyond. When we consider why Stratfor reached the conclusions it did in January, it will be easier to understand what these forces are and what they portend. Stratfor has been focusing for several years on the disequilibrium of the international system. Like everything else, the international system seeks equilibrium. Ever since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the system has been unbalanced. The United States was not only overwhelmingly powerful, but no conceivable group of nations could resist the basic thrusts of U.S. policy. Given U.S. political and economic supremacy, virtually all nations, save a small group of "outlaw" nations, were prepared to collaborate with the United States. Put differently, any nation not prepared to collaborate with the United States was, by definition, an outlaw or rogue state. Over time, it was inevitable that other nations would seek to create a counterbalance to the United States designed to create room for maneuver for themselves. Creating such a counterbalance was extremely difficult. The economic advantages of collaboration with the United States were so great, that political or military resistance to American initiatives was irrational. Neither Russia nor China, for example, would collaborate with each other if the consequence of such collaboration would be American economic retribution. Thus, since 1991 an extremely strange and even unnatural disequilibrium dominated the world. The United States presided over a global coalition and isolated any nation that would not participate. The Asian economic crisis and the Russian economic collapse were only barely connected economically. Yet, they were profoundly connected politically. (No draft) No draft except in wartime if we are being attacked, then anyone refusing the draft should be shot or hung, in public. Also the military should not be run by a draft dodger and not be held back by wimpy civilian control like in Korea or Vietnam, if war is declared, then win it, don't pussyfoot. 2. Government should not control radio, TV, the press or the Internet. Yes and the government should not have any secrets. Truth in government for a change. 3. Repeal regulations on sex for consenting adults. Yes as long as it is in the privacy of their home. 4. Drug laws do more harm than good. Repeal them. Yes, all drugs, I don't want to give some rich doctor $50 so he/she can give me a prescription for antibiotics when I have a bad cold and know I need antibiotics. 5. Let peaceful people cross borders freely. No, then we would have half of Mexico wanting to move here. Economic Issues 1. Businesses and farms should operate without govt. subsidies. Yes with no reservations. 2. People are better off with free trade than with tariffs. Tariffs would be better than the current "free trade" which isn't free at all. I could agree if it was real free trade. 3. Minimum wage laws cause unemployment. Repeal them. Undecided, anyone who works for minimum wage would have a hard time surviving in this country, if they made less they might only make enough money to buy a gun and rob people for a living. 4. End taxes. Pay for services with user fees. This sounds like a good idea to me, I don't use the freebies govt. provides. The $14,000 I pay in income taxes would buy me a lot of services. 5. All foreign aid should be privately funded. Absolutely, let these other countries fend for themselves. Who do you support in the 2000 U.S. Presidential election? No One, none of them, they are all crooked well, maybe Ron Paul, I haven't heard anything bad about him yet. The way I had to answer the questions, I was rated as a Moderate, leaning toward Libertarian. I think of myself as a conservative, a true conservative, not a right wing type, but thinking more liberal as far as personal freedoms are concerned. When we look at philanthropic foundations in the next volume we shall see the way this has been implemented by private foundation funds. There is not sufficient evidence to argue whether the decline in educational standards is an accidental by-product of this "new educa-. tion" or a deliberate subsidiary policy. In any. event, the Reagan ad- ministration policy of merit pay will compound, not solve, the problem. Recommendations for reform have been forthcoming at intervals since the late 1950s when educational problems first surfaced. At the time of Sputnik there was a hue and cry about the backward nature of U.S. training in mathematics and science, which at the University level are not at all backward. Anyway the educational establishment recognized an opportunity and cried, "more. more money." They got it, and there was a massive expansion in the '60s. But the funds have been poured into social conditioning. Mathematics and sciences have taken back seat in the last 30 years. Then in 1981, James S. Coleman of the University of Chicago pro- duced a study of public schools for the U.S. Department of Education. In this study Coleman used the National Opinion Research Center to contact 58, 728 sophomores and Seniors in 1,016 public, parochial, and private schools across the United States. His findings were: * private and parochial schools provide an education closer to the common school ideal than do public schools, * private school students learned more than public school counterparts, * Coleman wrote it was paradoxical that "catholic schools func- tion much closer to the American ideal of the common school . . . than do public schools." * private schools provide "a safer, more disciplined and more ordered environment" than public schools, * "blacks and Hispanics perform better at private schools." The reason? Private schools are less under the influence of the Dewey educational philosophy. They still have to use accredited teachers, but these teachers - quite bluntly - have been able to sur- vive the teacher training conditioning. Yet the educational establishment does not see the writing on the wall. In Fall 1983 a report by John Goodlad, Dean of the School of Educa- tion at University of Southern California, will be published. John I. Goodlad wrote the Foreword to Schooling For A Global Age (McGraw Hill, 1979) which includes these comments: "Enlightened social engineering is required to face situations that demand global action now" (page xiii). "Parents and the general public must be reached . . . otherwise children and youth enrolled in Globally oriented programs may find themselves in conflict with values assumed in the home." And more. Another 345 pages of globalony follows. Nothing about the child as an individual. Nothing about the child as a repository of talents that need to be encouraged. Nothing about basic education: the 3 R's. Yet this Goodlad report is being pushed in The New York Times (July 19, 1983) as the most "comprehensive report" ever made on American schools. These are some Goodlad proposals: * education should start at 4 years old * schools should be smaller * head teachers with doctorates should have more pay. And this does nothing. of course. to stop what a former Commis- sioner of Education called "a rising tide of mediocrity." If the United States is to survive in the coming technologically inten- sive age, then certain recommendations follow. These are: * the function of the school is to develop individual talent. Social engineering as an objective has to be discarded. * A thorough grounding in the 3 R's is essential for a good education tion. In other words, "content" is all important. * It follows that Schools of Education should be abolished (this is under serious discussion at Duke University and has been pro- posed at University of Michigan and even Cal Berkeley). * Teacher credentials should be based on subject matter entirely, not educational theory. * All restrictions on private schools should be abolished. * Public schools should be returned to l

Overview At approximately 2:00 PM GMT-5 on Friday March 26 1999, we began receiving reports of a Microsoft Word 97 and Word 2000 macro virus which is propagating via email attachments. The number and variety of reports we have received indicate that this is a widespread attack affecting a variety of sites. Our analysis of this macro virus indicates that human action (in the form of a user opening an infected Word document) is required for this virus to propagate. It is possible that under some mailer configurations, a user might automatically open an infected document received in the form of an email attachment. This macro virus is not known to exploit any new vulnerabilities. While the primary transport mechanism of this virus is via email, any way of transferring files can also propagate the virus. Anti-virus software vendors have called this macro virus the Melissa macro or W97M_Melissa virus. I. Description The Melissa macro virus propagates in the form of an email message containing an infected Word document as an attachment. The transport message has most frequently been reported to contain the following Subject header: Subject: Important Message From Where is the full name of the user sending the message. The body of the message is a multipart MIME message containing two sections. The first section of the message (Content-Type: text/plain) contains the following text. Here is that document you asked for ... don't show anyone else ;-) The next section (Content-Type: application/msword) was initially reported to be a document called "list.doc." This document contains references to pornographic web sites. As this macro virus spreads we are likely to see documents with other names. In fact, under certain conditions the virus may generate attachments with documents created by the victim. When a user opens an infected .doc file with Microsoft Word97 or Word2000, the macro virus is immediately executed if macros are enabled. Upon execution, the virus first lowers the macro security settings to permit all macros to run when documents are opened in the future. Therefore, the user will not be notified when the virus is executed in the future. The macro then checks to see if the registry key: "HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Office\Melissa?" has a value of "... by Kwyjibo." If that registry key does not exist or does not have a value of "... by Kwyjibo," the virus proceeds to propagate itself by sending an email message in the format described above to the first 50 entries in every MAPI address book readable by the user executing the macro. Keep in mind that if any of these email addresses are mailing lists, the message will be delivered to everyone on the mailing lists. In order to successfully propagate, the affected machine must have Microsoft Outlook installed; however, Outlook does not need to be the mailer used to read the message. "On the political front, we are very concerned about the security and stability of the neighboring countries to Yugoslavia, particularly partner countries of this alliance," Jamie Shea, the spokesman, told a news briefing at the NATO headquarters in Brussels. He said NATO chief Javier Solana had long discussions with prime minister of former Yugoslav republic Macedonia, and he also talked yesterday evening with the Albanian prime minister. "With both prime ministers, he discussed deteriorating humanitarian situation in and around Kosovo," he said. Shea said this was the most significant development of the past few days. "Whether we like it or not, we have to recognize that we are on the brink of a major humanitarian disaster in Kosovo, which had not been seen in Europe since the closing stages of World War Two." He also said the estimated number of people who are now displaced from their homes in Kosovo has outnumbered half million mark, which is well in access of 25 percent of total population of Kosovo. Guess I left out of the intro I was married to a physician for 23 yrs & worked in his office, saw his & other hospital patients, etc. My combined experience in three (3) states is that there is terrible undermedication of those in pain, terminal and otherwise. Fix that and it might put people like Dr. Jack out of business. Again, I ask whatever happenedto "First, do no harm." Amelia P.S. Mayve in some cases there is "morphine to spare. It would have to be prescibed by the dr. and then every drop acounted for. Hospitals use unit doese of everything like that. Nurses never have any to "play around" with. Regulations have tightened to the point where red tape discourages using anything controlled except in the most dire circumstances. Hope to have time to read archives but first must finish the excessive, oppressive paperwork to take to my accountant to file my illegal income taxes. 8008 The Secret Society Among Lawmen by Anne-Marie O'Connor and Tina Daunt (Los Angeles Times, March 24, 1999) He is still proud of his tattoo. The somber image of Death's hooded skull and scythe tattooed onto the inside of the deputy's left ankle in 1989 initiated him into a select fraternity called the Grim Reapers. Then a street cop at the Lennox station, this deputy has risen to a key position in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department--along with other members of his "club." The groups--with macho monikers like the Pirates, Vikings, Rattlesnakes and Cavemen--have long been a subculture in the country's largest Sheriff's Department and, in some cases, an inside track to acceptance in the ranks. Senior officers say they began with the creation of the Little Devils at the East Los Angeles station in 1971. Membership swelled in the 1980s at overwhelmingly white sheriff's stations that were islands in black and Latino immigrant communities. A federal judge hearing class-action litigation against the department described the most well-known of the groups, the Lynwood Vikings, as a "neo-Nazi, white supremacist gang" and found that deputies had engaged in racially motivated hostility. The county paid $9 million in fines and training costs to settle the lawsuits in 1996. But today, groups like the Grim Reapers are enjoying renewed popularity among young deputies, who say the groups are fraternities that bond on morale-building values, not race. A new group--the Regulators--has formed at Century station, and even suburban deputies are thinking about getting tattoos. Some senior officers say the groups provide emotional support for deputies who contend with a grueling regimen of violent crime and an 11-to-7 overnight schedule that strains family life. The groups have their detractors. One deputy characterized the Lennox Reapers as "cowboys," and another complained that the Regulators were "acting just like Vikings." Sheriff Lee Baca has long been a critic of the groups, though he believes an outright ban would be unconstitutional. He urges deputies to stay away from the organizations, saying they encourage unprofessional behavior. Critics of the department go even further. They charge that the stations with the department's most troubled records--meaning the most frequent excessive-force lawsuits and discrimination complaints--are home to the most active deputy groups. And the groups are viewed with mistrust by many in the inner-city communities. "They are generally perceived as rogue cops who have often been accused of acting in very inappropriate ways in the street," said Joe Hicks, executive director of the city's human relations commission. "It doesn't seem to be good for morale or community relations." -Uncovering Evidence- Some of the lawyers now suing the Sheriff's Department on behalf of clients who say they were beaten, shot or harassed have demanded that deputies accused of misconduct roll down their socks and reveal if they have one of the distinguishing tattoos. In one case pending in federal court, attorneys want two deputies who allegedly shot a man to death to show whether their ankles bear the Vikings insignia. Kevin Reed, an attorney with the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People's Legal Defense Fund, who worked on the class-action suit involving the Vikings, thinks the deputy groups encourage a pattern of excessive force. "There is a bond, not just of being a fellow deputy, but being a Viking, that gives you the comfort that no one is going to write the report that will hang you out to dry," Reed said. One Viking tattoo displayed in court bore the number "998"--the code for "officer-involved shooting"--Reed said, giving the impression that such shootings were celebrated as a rite of passage. Former Undersheriff Jerry Harper, who was Baca's boss until he retired after the November sheriff's race, said the 998 tattoos reflect a camaraderie not unlike that of soldiers who have experienced combat for the first time. "It's a mark of pride. They've been in a deputy-involved shooting and they've survived it," he said. "Obviously, it's a lot more serious than getting a Boy Scout patch." But David Lynn, a private investigator who testified on the deputy groups to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission--which is to address the issue in a report due in April--has called for the names of tattooed deputies to be cross-referenced with excessive force allegations. For all his objections, Baca believes such a registry might actually absolve the groups of the most serious suspicions. He thinks many deputies acquired the tattoos for reasons no deeper than peer pressure and heavy drinking. "Many of them regretted it the day after, when they got a little sober," said Baca, "especially when their wife saw the thing and was very upset." His research led him to question its very legality and constitutionality. "All the time I was doing my research, I looked for snags -- looked for things that would prove that everything I was reading and finding out was wrong," Banister told WorldNetDaily. "I had taken this job thinking I'd be wearing the white hat, and I slowly found out I was not wearing the white hat. So something had to change." The change came quickly last month, when the IRS accepted Banister's offer of resignation rather than respond to the questions raised. The action also cost him his $80,000 a year job. Banister, 36, had dreamed that dream for a long time. In 1986, he graduated with a degree in business administration from San Jose State University in the San Francisco Bay area, and for the next three years worked for KPMG Peat Marwick as a senior tax specialist and staff auditor. A gentle, soft-spoken man -- who chooses his words carefully -- he would seem ideally suited to a job dealing with numbers and accounting. Just the kind of job he had, but it wasn't enough. "I wanted to get into law enforcement, but had recently (in 1990) gotten my certified public accountant certificate," he explained. "I wondered if there wasn't some way a CPA could wear a uniform, gun and a badge." A skilled marksman -- Banister has been a member of the National Rifle Association and Gun Owners of America since 1991 and 1992, respectively -- he began exploring the federal law enforcement agencies for employment opportunities. In 1991 he applied for a position at both the FBI and IRS-CID, "in case the FBI job didn't work out." Due to a hiring freeze, the FBI kept him at "in a holding pattern" for two years. It is so regulated, signed and coutersigned and so much trouble that many go without adequate pain medicaton and suffer the literal pains of death with little more than an aspirin. He is a survivor of the Bataan Death March and 3-1/2 years as a POW of the Japanese. He served 32 years in the army before retiring with 100% disability. His decorations include the Silver Star, 2 Brone Stars, 2 Legions of Merit, the Army Commendation Medal and many others. During the Vietnam War, he personally inducted both of his own sons into the service--one for 3 years as a regular army enlisted man, and the other as a commissioned officer (after he had completed ROTC training). Affidavit There have been many unanswered questions as to the circumstances surrounding Bill Clinton's involvement with the ROTC department at the University of Arkansas. Prior to this time I have not felt the necessity for discussing the details. The reason I have not done so before is that my poor physical health (a consequence of participation in the Bataan Death March and the subsequent 3-1/2 years interment in Japanese POW camps) has precluded me from getting into what I felt was unnecessary involvement. However, present polls show that there is imminent danger to our country of a draft dodger becoming Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States. While it is true, as Mr. Clinton has stated, that there were many others (who) avoided serving their country in the Vietnam War, they are not aspiring to be president of the United States. The tremendous implications of the possibility of his becoming Commander-in-Chief of the United states Armed Forces compels me now to comment on the facts concerning Mr. Clinton's evasion of the draft. This account would not have been imperative had Bill Clinton been completely honest with the American public concerning this matter. But as Mr. Clinton replied on a news conference this evening (Sept. 5) after being asked another particular about his dodging the draft, "Almost everyone concerned with these incidents are dead. I have no more comments to make." Since I may be the only person living who can give a firsthand account of what actually transpired, I am obligated by my love for my country and my sense of duty to divulge what actually happened and make it a matter of record. Bill Clinton came to see me at my home in 1969 to discuss his desire to enroll in the ROTC program at the University of Arkansas. We engaged in an extensive, approximately two (2) hour interview. At no time during this long conversation about his desire to join the program did he inform me of his involvement, participation and actually organizing protests against the United States involvement in South East Asia. He was shrewed (sic) enough to realize that had I been aware of his activities, he would not have been accepted into the ROTC program as a potential officer in the United States Army. The next day I began to receive telephone calls regarding Bill Clinton's draft status. I was informed by the draft board that it was of interest to Senator Fullbright's (sic) office that Bill Clinton, a Rhodes Scholar, should be admitted to the ROTC program. I received several such calls. The general message conveyed by the draft board to me was that Senator Fullbright's (sic) office was putting pressure on them and that they needed my help. I then made the necessary arrangements to enroll Mr. Clinton into the ROTC program at the University of Arkansas. I was not "saving" him from serving his country, as he erroneously thanked me for in his letter from England (dated Dec. 3, 1969). I was making it possible for a Rhodes Scholar to serve in the military as an officer. In retrospect I see that Mr. Clinton had no intention of following through with his agreement to join the Army ROTC program at the University of Arkansas or to attend the University of Arkansas Law School. " Mr. Kubby attracted further official attention to his anti-Drug-War beliefs when he ran for governor of California on the Libertarian Party ticket last year. Both writers were proved prescient when California voters decided in 1996 to legalize the many medical uses of marijuana by a whopping 70-to-30 margin. And that should have been the end of that. Except that the kind of morally atrophied weasels who run our current War on Drugs have made a big mistake since the recent legalization votes in California, Nevada and Arizona. They have allowed two of the most cynical lies of modern politics -- that the government only enforces the will of the majority, and that if you want the law changed all you have to do is convince a majority to side with you at the polls -- to be revealed as just that: two of the biggest steaming piles of diarrheal mendacity that ever brought tears to the eyes and bile to the throats of a free people. McWilliams was busted and imprisoned last July. Late last year, drug agents stormed the Olympic Valley house of Mr. Kubby and his wife Michele, after weeks of surveilling the married couple through their bedroom window -- dragging them away in chains for growing a few hundred marijuana plants for medical use, two years (start ital)after(end ital) the people of California legalized medical marijuana. "If I cannot keep down my life-saving medications, I will die. Medical marijuana, in my case, had been 99.9 percent effective in alleviating nausea for more than two years. ... (CNNS, 03/28/99) -- Bill Clinton, "The Lyin' King," leads us now
into the Kosovo quagmire, called by some the beginning of World
War III, and at least a potential Vietnam War Part 2.
Appearing as a guest panelist on PBS's "McLaughlin Group,"
Danielle Sremic, an expert on Balkan affairs, predicted that,
indeed, Kosovo will turn into a second Vietnam.
As research yields actual facts, the nonsensical nature of the
Spring fireworks display in Yugoslavia is emerging. Reluctantly,
even a few mainstream media voices are timidly asking serious
questions. For example, on ABC's Sunday morning "This Week"
program, it was asked: "If Slobodan Milosevic is Hitler, will we
be negotiating with him at some point?" [1]
It's hard, after all, to negotiate with "Hitler." And since
several experts are now saying the Serbs will never surrender
unless NATO ground troops are deployed into Kosovo, then either
Milosevic is not really "Hitler" or the escalating conflict is
going to get VERY bloody.
Says Richard Jaehne, former commander of the NATO operations
school in Europe, "We're in for a long conflict whatever we're
going to do. It's not going to be quick, it's not going to be
easy, and it's not going to be cheap." [2]
Jaehne says it's not going to be cheap, which means it will cost
lives and money. And even still, days after the bombing blitz,
nary a word in mainstream media outlets on how much $$$ it is
costing and will cost.
Some say whatever millions and billions of dollars are being
spent on the boom-booms falling now on Yugoslavia would be better
spent on easing the plight of the homeless in America. Not
understood, though, is that these USA homeless are necessary to
prop up the real estate bubble: were there less-desperate demand
for affordable housing, due to a greater supply of same, the
inflated real estate market would collapse. And that's not good
for landlords.
As usual, independent reporters on the Internet are providing the
most accurate coverage of what is really going on. Thanks to
their help, CNNS can now piece together the following:
(1) Mike Wallace of CBS, notorious already for his fake reports
on the death of Vince Foster, promotes propaganda regarding "Serb
Rape Camps." The History Channel broadcast a program recently,
hosted by Wallace, where the "Rape Camps" story was pushed off
onto viewers. Supposedly, the Serb soldiers had been massively
raping Bosnian women who were their prisoners, and that age made
no difference. Even old ladies, so the story goes, were being
systematically raped by their Serb guards! For refutation of
this twin of an earlier "Iraq incubator babies" story, also shown
now to be a lie, visit the Serb Unity Congress website,

(2) "Ah, but of course the Serbs would deny it!" (That response
is already foreseen.) But the so-called "Racak massacre,"
trigger for the present imbroglio, is denied not just by the
Serbs but questioned by various journalists. *Le Figaro*
(France) doubts the story. *Le Monde* (France) is skeptical.
[3] A team of forensic investigators from Finland, by preliminary
reports, also doubts the "Racak massacre" story. And an article
in Chronicles Magazine disputes the claim of a "Racak massacre."

(3) But even were the "Racak massacre" story true, the deaths of
500,000 innocent children in Iraq, brought on by U.S.-led
sanctions, makes Bill Clinton seem to be, comparatively, the
truer "Hitler."
(4) Protesters throughout the world have been gathering to
denounce the NATO boom-booms in Yugoslavia: In Moscow, thousands
protest; in New York City, thousands protest [4]; in Vancouver,
hundreds protest [5]; in Toronto, protesters firebomb the U.S.
Consulate [6]; in Australia, thousands protest and throw eggs at
police [7].
(5) Strictly speaking, it's still unknown why NATO is bombing
Yugoslavia. Asked John McLaughlin on his PBS broadcast of March
28, 1999: "What's the *real* reason?" If you believe the USA is
spending all this money and manpower due to a sudden idealistic
upsurge in humanitarian feelings, CNNS has some land it would
like to sell you. So then what's the real reason? We still
don't know, but theories include: (a) imperialism; (b) control
of drugs flowing through the region; (c) the corporate war
machine dumps bombs and then we have to pay them to build more
bombs.

-Caveat Lector- I dealt with high power microwave transmission for communications purposes in the USAF for twenty years. This technology has grown literally by powers of ten in the time since I first encountered it. The problem with microwave is that it requires big doses of power to produce the end product... 3kw (kilowatts) in put at 50-60 cycles, 3 phases to get 1kw output at 6-8 gigacycles. The focal point (point of the most concentration of energy) is approximately 400 ft away from the center of an 8 ft parabolic antenna. This is enough energy to fry a bird should it fly through this beam and hover for a few seconds. To be a viable mobile weapon you would need megawatts (millions of watts) to power the equipment... to fry people. One thing it would do is to heat up metal (hand weapons) very fast, possibly exploding the powder in bullets... this would be very possible using larger antennas... higher amplification of the signal (actually higher concentration of the signal). If they have solved the problem of massive power generation, then this would make a formidable weapon... say a 60 ft parabolic (bowl-shaped) ... it would be like having a microwave oven the size of a five story apartment building and you could aim the beam, the focal point would be way off in the distance. The bad part about a parabolic antenna is that a portion of the power goes out the back of the antenna, so you have to be careful about where you aim it. A pigtail (shaped like a spring) antenna is very directional, but has lower gain. EMP (electromagnetic pulse) is caused by gamma(?) rays emitted from an exploding nuclear device. I don't think you can reploduce this from a radio transmitter. Gamma rays are like x-rays... they go through everything unless stopped by lead, or a thick covering of earth, rock etc. These rays literally fry transistors, integrated chips, diodes, anything made of silicon. That is why only radios, TVs, any electronic equipment will be a useless paperweight after a nuclear device is exploded. The only working electronics will be old tube-type devices, but they won't have anything to receive since all radio - TV stations will be down. About the only thing operating will be a few old time ham radios (provided they have their own power generating capability). So, if such a weapon exists... it would be very formidable, putting a halt to communications, transportation, power generation and distribution... everyone would be in the dark. -Caveat Lector- Unfortunately, cooking, freezig, etc. has no effect on this prion. I CAN'T BE KILLED because it is a protein block and is in the basic building block of the meat. You eat the meat, no matter what has been done to it, you get the prion. The book "Deadly Feasts" goes on about this quite a bit. I have forgotten the author's name. Th disease-causing organism is only "alive" is the most basic sense and has been traced to cannibalism in New Zeland. That is what is suspected in livestock, too. Feeding livestock feed with "parts" of slaughtered animals recucled back in to feed. Chickens are also suspect and some antibiotic-resistent strains of bacteria have been found in chicken feed in this country but reported in the Lancet in Britain. "Thorough Cooking" as we have been taught to believe does not always work anymore on these mutated strains. Much as I love meat, I often try to go vegetarian these days. I asked well then, how did they get it - from something they ate. After that, shortly thereafter, a lot of chicken looked skinney and underfed. Dying cattle angers me; in USA we have found mutilted cattle and contribute the cause to UFO.I can only say mutilated cattle in fields - someone is using parts and of the brain too - of the body for experiments. We speak of Jack the Ripper; what about the mutilated cattle; I have a Hogarth print "Ye Old Roast Beef of England"..now, farmers in England must destroy their cattle. -Caveat Lector- Have we become so far removed from what war really is that we expect to fight a war and not have any friendly casualties? One of the reasons that many people are not eager to engage in battle is because of the resulting deaths. However, our current administration has designed war campaigns to eliminate our soldiers deaths. Let me state now that I do not want to see anyone killed on either side. How could I advocate that? My point is that the past couple of "wars" have almost been serial - something one would expect to see in a movie. In fact, without any American deaths to register in our hearts what is actually happening these engagements in many ways can be dismissed as not actually happening, as not being really real? The action was denounced in the Russian parliament, where President Bill Clinton was compared to Hitler, and ministers threatened to send military hardware to aid Belgrade. In Greece, 15,000 people took to the streets on Friday and there were demonstrations of anger yesterday in Britain, Germany and Italy. The full force of Russia's rage at Nato air strikes in the Balkans was on display in the Duma yesterday, with parliamentary leaders calling for the immediate dispatch of arms and volunteers. Gennady Zyuganov, leader of Russia's communists, said: "With its use of force, blackmail and bombs, America has set out on the path of Hitlerism." Igor Ivanov, the Russian foreign minister, said that although Moscow would not allow itself to be dragged into a new Balkan war, it reserved the right to send military equipment to Belgrade if its attempts at ending the hostilities failed. In southern Italy, local communities around the Nato air base in Apulia voiced concern last night at the continued bombing. An anti-war coalition of communists, pacifists, religious groups and trade unions organised protests in towns around the base. Fears about Serb attacks along with a possible huge increase in the number of Kosovar refugees led to calls for a halt to the campaign. In Athens, riot police used tear gas to disperse an estimated 15,000 demonstrators in front of the United States embassy on Friday. Greece has led the dissident wing of Nato, calling for an immediate halt to the bombing and a return to the negotiating table. It has also refused to offer its military forces to join the assault. Last night Terrence Taylor, assistant director at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London, said that cracks were appearing in the Nato alliance. In Berlin, riot police were involved in violent clashes with anti-Nato protesters following a 3,000-strong demonstration yesterday. The protest, organised by former communists in the Party for Democratic Socialism (PDS), was addressed by the party leader Lothar Bisky, who described the air strikes as "criminal". Investigators said videotapes recovered In searches of the men's homes and businesses reveal pregnant women being tortured, children being molested by adults, and child pornography with "Satanic" inferences. The children in the Cape Cod case claim the perpetrators, posing as relatives would take them during school hours to nearby homes where they were sexually abused and filmed engaging in sex acts with other children, adults and animals. Their families, who did not want their names used said they have tried to interest Massachusetts authorities in their case since 1988 but were rebuffed by police, the FBI, the local district attorney's office and U.S. Postal Inspectors. The children were interviewed on several occasions by former Attorney General James Shannon's office but their case was never officially investigated. "When we first started on this, we had no idea law enforcement would be this way. While I understand your position on this I do not agree with it. I do not believe that the Lord sends people to hell for wanting to be out of agony. My God is a kind and understanding God. I am a Christian and not once in the Bible does it ever mention suicide or killing yourself. I don't know where you get your info from but it is not the bible.
