Kashmir is part of the mess that Britain left behind

This futile crisis cannot be separated from the 'war' against
terrorism

The prime minister of India warned that, unless Pakistan reined in
its Kashmir guerrillas, there'd be war. The president of Pakistan
solicited the good offices of the US - and sent in his guerrillas
anyway. Bloody miscalculation, bloody incompetence all round. But
that was 1965, number two out of four conflicts that have wracked the
subcontinent since independence. And here (quite possibly) we go
again. Accidents - bloody accidents - keep happening.

Forget the end of history, forget the blah-blah of hope as the year
turns: forget especially any sheeny triumphalism attached to the
war against terrorism. New Delhi and Islamabad seem to have learnt
nothing and forgott
en nothing. They are locked in the time warp of half a century ago. Only the nuclear 
warheads in their arsenals are new.

Kashmir, perhaps even more than the Middle East, is the world's most intractable, most 
punishingly futile crisis. Decade after decade it rumbles insolubly on, claiming dead 
on the battlefield but, beyond that, claiming mi
llions of lives lost to poverty and sickness, people ground down by an obscene weight 
of military spending. The generals and politicians who made the first blunders have 
long since passed away: though the excuses have cha
nged, their heirs perform as though from memory.

Remember Sir Hari Singh, the playboy maharajah of (Hindu) Jammu and (Muslim) Kashmir, 
who paid £50,000 for an imported dancing girl and flip-flopped his misbegotten 
statelet into Delhi's embrace at the last moment of inde
pendence. Remember the referendum India promised and then forgot. Remember the endless 
intrigues that went with the cold war. Remember Nehru's belief in the basic ideal of 
secularism that could not be compromised.

All this is gone now. Messrs Putin and Bush are best buddies. China is coming in from 
the cold. A Hindu nationalist prime minister rules India. What's left is one glorious 
valley where no tourists tread and a desolate, im
poverished slab of rock and ice sustained only by stubbornness. Kashmir's sole 
remaining importance is as a casus belli.

Benign diplomats, left to themselves, would have no difficulty. Set Kashmir in the 
context of a wider Indo- Pakistani settlement, open borders to trade and travel, even 
create a subcontinental common market. Offer Kashmir
 itself (but not lowland Jammu) a measure of independence like Andorra or the Channel 
Islands: neutral, semi-autonomous, free to grow rich on American Express cards. Hold 
your plebiscites and proclaim a victory for pragma
tism. Everyone wins.

But that is not the way of this world. Pakistan, through 50 years of governmental 
failure, has turned the liberation of an Indian Kashmir (which would probably recoil 
from Islamabad's embrace) into a symbol of struggle
that keeps its swollen army - and successive military dictators - in place. Kashmir, 
at least in the rhetoric, is one definition of nationhood. And India, having spent so 
much blood and blood money, responds in kind. If K
ashmir goes, who can say what other fractious state may wish to follow?

Those are mountains of fear, self-interest and pride left to climb. They are also 
mountains of unreality.

What does Mr Vajpayee hope for if his troops move over the Pakistan border? Probably 
(because of superior manpower and equipment) a short, conventional campaign in the 
flatlands of Punjab and Sind that makes General Musha
rraf sue for peace and then topples him. But it's hard, in the miserable pantheon of 
history, to see how this helps. It will be killing business as usual in the hills 
again all too soon. And the parallels with Sharon and
Arafat also operate. India assumes, as Israel assumes, that Musharraf can turn off 
terrorism like a tap. It ain't necessarily so.

Where, since you ask, is Osama bin Laden? Maybe somewhere in Pakistan. General 
Musharraf would love to round him up and hand him over - but he's an Arafat, the 
temporising victim, not the master, of events. His writ barel
y runs through the tribal areas. He doesn't know whether his notoriously flaky secret 
service, the ISI, is for him or against him. Can he click his fingers at Azad Kashmir 
as Taliban remnants trek in? Did he welcome the s
uicide attack on India's parliament, which sparked off this round? Of course not. But 
has he the physical and political clout to track down the perpetrators, close down 
their networks and seem Vajpayee's patsy? No: he's s
tuck, betwixt and between.

Kashmir, in sum, isn't separate from the war against terrorism. It has swiftly 
become an umbilical part of it. Terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed have seen the 
chance of a fruitful mayhem. India has upped the ante i
n the shadow of Sharon. Musharraf, having risked

I guess the author of this article is the type that demands utter perfection
from everyone.  The secretary of defense said that there would be accidents
and that's part of war.

 I say 'uncounted' because nobody in the West seems to have been
 particularly interested in counting them.  It's pretty certain more
 innocent people have died and are still dying in the bombing of
 Afghanistan than on 11 September, but the New York Times doesn't run
 daily biographies of them so they don't count.  Oh, I nearly forgot -
 we've all paid a considerable amount in terms of those precious civil
 liberties and freedoms that make our way of life in the Free World so
 much better than everyone else's.  Bit of a conundrum that.

I haven't given up any freedoms.  I don't travel on airlines, anyway.

 If the objectives of the 'War on Terrorism' were to catch the
 perpetrators of the 11 September attacks, bring them to justice and
 make the world a safer place, so far the score - on all three
 objectives - has been nil.  We're all jumping around scared shitless
 that something similar is going to happen at any moment.

So what if it does?  It just means some of us get a free ride out of here.

 No perpetrators have been caught; no perpetrators have been brought to
 justice.

Well... They've been running and hiding.  What do you expect?

 Mark you, this last is not really surprising.  Just think: if the
 police were setting out to catch a particularly clever and evil
 murderer, would they go around with loud-hailers announcing where they
 were going to look for him, pinpoint the areas they intended to search
 and give him a count of 100 to get away?

Anyone with a police scanner and trunk system is free to hear what steps the
police are taking to catch you in a car chase.  There will be communications
of some form.  Plus, car chases are televised and the people are still caught.

 That's what you do if you're playing hide and seek, not if you want to catch a
 criminal. I rather imagine the police would have gone to work covertly and
 tried to find out where he was without his even knowing they were looking for
 him.

Rght.  You don't ram two jetliners into the two tallest buildings in New
York City and then drop another one on the Pentagon without *somebody*
noticing.  Whoever did this knew that he would be the subject of an intensive
search and destroy mission.  If he thought he could do this and expect
everyone to act like nothing happened, he has a lower IQ than a roach turd.

 But I realise that's not a very American way of going about things.

Not all of us are Ra Ra Ra about war.  The thing about America is that there
are a lot of different types of people with many different opinions.  I used
to think that all British people were polite and intelligent.  Then I realized
it was the accent that made it seem that way.  You people have some real
retards, just like we have over here.  They're all over the world.  The
difference is that your retards sound intelligent because they have a
beautiful accent and ours sound like they live in Arkansas.

 However, finally the 'War on Terrorism' is achieving its policy
 objectives.  Osama bin Laden is looking haggard.  We may not have
 caught him or brought him to justice but, at the cost of thousands of
 innocent Afghan lives, billions of dollars of US citizens' money and
 the civil liberties of the Free World, we have got him looking
 haggard.

 It's a sensational and ground-breaking moment that justifies all the
 news coverage it's been getting.

Nothing can justify all the news coverage this has been getting.  I haven't
really watched the news in several weeks because it's been the same old stuff
day after day and hour after hour.  I've been watching prime time TechTV
instead -- The Screen Savers, Big Thinkers, Silicon Spin, etc

 If Osama bin Laden is looking haggard, that means he's scared - or
 tired or eaten something that disagrees with him - but at least it
 means he's not enjoying himself as he was in his

Some Libertarians favor unlimited immigration (actually more to the
point most libertarians favor unrestricted movement between borders).

However that applies theoratically to a different world then exists
today. Unrestricted border access only is practical between countries
with economies on a equal footing and with similiar population density.

The big problem with unrestricted border access is overpopulation
and density of population. NOTHING contributes to environmental
degradation more then population density. Population density also
encourages statist solutions for population density generated social
problems. Since WWII, the US population has doubled due mainly to
its immigration policies.

Lastly, unrestricted border access and mass immigration acts to preserve
authoritarian oligarchies throughout the world. The US is the safety
valve
for the rich elite that own and run third world nations like their private
piggy bank. If ambitious immigrants could not run away from their
native lands, eventually they would be forced to change the closed
economies and repressive systems. For example, if the US closely
guarded its Southern border, the Mexican Billionaire Elite would quake
in their snakeskin boots.

 The Saudi daily Al-Watan published a two-part article on The Jewish
 Sense of Superiority in the World. The articles were written by
 Abdallah Aal Malhi. Following are excerpts from the article:



 At the end of the last century, the Jewish organizations
 consolidated a hellish plan to take over the world by sparking
 revolutions or taking control of the keys to governments in various
 countries, first and foremost the U.S. and Russia.

 At the beginning of the twentieth century, the goal of the Russians,
 and with them the Jews and their global organizations, was to topple
 Russian imperialism, which they considered antisemitic. To this end,
 the Jewish organizations across the world sought to create a Jewish
 socialist system. Most of this system's leaders were Jews, and they
 financed the Russian Revolution, which if truth be told was more of a
 Jewish revolution than a Russian one. This revolution's main
 financier was the well-known Jewish capitalist Jacob Schiff of New
 York.

 Let us show one example of this first Russian government. It is a
 terrifying example of Jewish hegemony. This [information] can be
 found in the American National Archives [sic]. According to the
 information in these archives, out of the 384 members of the first
 socialist parliament, 13 were Russians; the number of Jews was
 greater than 300. The London Times correspondent in Russia described
 this government as the Jewish conquest of Russia. The American
 ambassador to Russia at that time, David Francis, used the same
 terms, as did American intelligence officers in Russia. Even Winston
 Churchill himself described the Russian Revolution as an occupation
 by t
 he Bolshevist Jews, 'who held capital and became the rulers of a great Russian
 empire.'

 The Jewish sense of superiority is typified by hypocrisy and zeal... The Jews
 are incapable of actualizing their influence and control for a simple reason,
 and that is that they are a demographic minority in every societ
 y in the world. For this reason, the Jews are trying by means of their
 trickery to weaken the national identity [of the non-Jews] and thus take over
 affairs and direct them to serve their interests. This is obvious everyw
 here in the world where there is a large community, both in Arab societies and
 in American society, such as the European-American community or
 African-American and even among the Muslims in the Arab world, where the Jews
 act by means of their control of the media, politics, and the economy in order
 to weaken the non-Jewish groups and bring about their disintegration, in order
 to secure their goals. How is this carried out?

 It is carried out by the principle of 'divide and rule.' The Jewish zealots
 fear, and fight, any racial non-Jewish coalition. In the Western countries,
 the Jews fight all the organizations attempting to safeguard Europea
 n interests and tradition. In the non-European countries, the Jews constantly
 act to fracture and weaken the coalitions and the homogeneity of the main
 racial groups.

 In America, for example, the Jews did not act merely to weaken the
 homogeneity and the coalition of European-Americans, but also fought other
 coalitions, such as the black national movement, the Nation of Islam, and othe
 r movements. All these African-American organizations wanted was to preserve
 the traditions that they had lost in the multicultural society – but the Jews,
 due to their well-known sense of superiority, did not want anyone
 besides themselves to preserve their traditions and collective interests.
 Therefore, they always try to make other societies feel guilty, even about
 their pride in their culture. They present this interest and sense of p
 ride in the culture of those non- Jewish organizations as a racist tendency.

 The Jews also act to weaken loyalties and other coalitions by using an
 expression that has been made familiar by the Jewish media to describe these

 Long before the war in Afghanistan becomes
 just a twinkle in the eye of an old general,
 Aaron McGruder may well be living in exile
 in Canada.

 The 27-year-old creator of the daily hip-
 hop comic The Boondocks [sample attached]
 which features the escapades of a group of
 young African-American kids growing up in
 the almost-all-white suburbs, has wrenched
 the torch of scathing satire from the
 Boomer King of Cartoon Controversy, Garry
 Trudeau, and set off on an Olympic-style
 sprint for infamy.

 Since Sept. 11, McGruder has been setting
 fire to the funny pages with incendiary
 panels of political humor mocking everything
 from Attorney General Ashcroft's anti-
 terrorist dragnet and the public's fear of
 anthrax to FBI wiretaps and the nation's
 ongoing orgy of patriotism.

 McGruder's 4-year-old strip does garner
 laughs, but not without an accompanying
 sting. The point man in the strip is the
 pint-size Black panther-in-spirit Huey
 Freeman, who recently has been as busy as
 an anarchist at a WTO meeting.

 Among his many subversive acts, Freeman has
 called the FBI tip line to report Ronald
 Reagan as aiding and abetting terrorism,
 suggested that the terrorists may be making
 their bucks these days manufacturing flags
 and has pointed out the parallels between
 George W. Bush and Osama bin Laden during
 a Thanksgiving meal prayer. About the only
 thing Huey hasn't done yet is strap on a
 Kalashnikov and set off for Kandahar. But
 now that John Walker's bearded mug is on
 the front page of dailies worldwide,
 anything's possible.

 A number of the 250 publications that carry
 The Boondocks have taken exception to the
 sardonic sedition of McGruder's characters.
 The New York Daily News dropped the strip
 for about a month and a half, Newsday in
 Long Island chose not to run Sept. 11-
 inspired strips the first week they started
 coming out and the Dallas Morning News has
 moved the strip to a separate section
 altogether from other comics. None of this
 fazed McGruder.

 In response, he temporarily replaced the
 strip with The Adventures of Flagee and
 Ribbon, where the two symbols sing the
 National Anthem and talk tough about the
 U.S. kicking tail.

 Angry letter writers have suggested McGruder
 emigrate, and McGruder admits that he's so
 disgusted with his native land he may
 eventually do just that.

 Recently, he tore himself away from ranting
 at the tube in his Los Angeles digs long
 enough to rant to Salon about the state of
 the nation.

 Your strips post-9/11 have touched a raw
 nerve with some folks. Did you anticipate
 all the attention you've gotten because of
 them?

 It's become a story because of timing. You
 know, the New York Daily News temporarily pulls
 the strip, and in the middle of this wartime
 situation, it became a story about freedom of
 speech and all that. The reality is I get
 pulled all the time from various newspapers for
 different reasons. And it's been that way
 since the strip started...

 Why did you decide to target the post-Sept.
 11 displays of patriotism in the strip, and
 essentially mock them with those two
 characters Flagee and Ribbon?

Miles has felt the heat of this situation personally, being one of the few
mainstream AIDS doctors who stood up and resisted the hit-hard-hit-

Just go to the U.S. Public Health Service web site. Under federal law they
have to disclose who they have taken money from. It's right there. Some of
these doctors have taken money from 15 to 20 different companies.



That study was a real red flag, says Rasnick. Cathepsin D is the only
protease I know that is absolutely essential for life, so you'd want to stay
away from it. I remember thinking to myself at the time, thank God we are
not working on aspartyl proteases, or making inhibitors for them.

When Rasnick began hearing stories of the chronic diarrhea and wasting
syndrome that was among many problems to afflict people on the new
protease inhibitors, he had a sinking feeling.

I said, 'Oh shit, it's happening.' You see, there's always crossover. Even

And they're giving people up to seven grams a day of this stuff. I don't
see how anybody can survive that in the long run. I'd love to see some
post-mortems done on these guys who die on cocktails. I'd like to see what

Rasnick believes it was a grave mistake for the FDA ever to approve protease
inhibitors for human use.

I would pull these protease inhibitors off the market based on the Saftig

In 1996 a scientist claimed he'd found a way to defeat AIDS. In the wave of
euphoria that followed, a batch of new drugs flooded the market. Four years
later, those drugs are wreaking unimaginable horror on the patients who
dared to hope. What went wrong?

It's telling, and perfectly symbolic that when AIDS researcher David Ho's
face appeared on the cover of Time as Man of the Year, 1996, you couldn't
see his eyes. Instead, a colorful swirl meant to represent HIV filled his
glasses. George Orwell used precisely this image -- a man whose eyes are
gone, whose glasses have been filled with the refracting light of his
ideology -- to convey the triumph of politics over truth in his famous essay
Politics and the English Language.

Ho, the then newly appointed director of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research
Center in New York, was suddenly catapulted to a degree of fame that no
other AIDS researcher had ever attained, and gave him an oracular power over
the press and the AIDS community. The relentlessly driven son of Chinese
immigrants, he was a man singularly obsessed with HIV, and his vision was to
attack it with a ferocity never before imagined -- to bomb it with not one
drug, or two, but a literal hail. He popularized and largely pioneered the
idea that would make such pharmaceutical bombing seem rational -- that HIV,
far from being the cryptic, latent, quiet virus most researchers thought it
was -- was in fact replicating furiously, from the very moment of
infection. The immune system, he claimed, fought back valiantly, mass
producing immune system cells in an effort to defend itself, but in the end,
the virus would win the battle, and the immune system would collapse.

The only rational attack therefore, was to begin treatment as early as
possible, to defeat the virus. He was a man of simple concepts, and the one
that would alter history went like this: hit hard, hit early.

Ho's seductive experiment, which spread to newspapers around the world
before it was ever completed, was to knock back HIV to the point of being
undetectable, then take the patients off the cocktail of drugs, with
HIV, hopefully, banished for good. His recipe for a cure, a word that was
heavily implied if semantically avoided, was to create a blitzkrieg of

INDIA, PAKISTAN PREPARE FOR WAR

 Pakistan and India are readying their military forces —
including their ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons — for
war, The Washington Times has learned.
 U.S. intelligence officials say
Pakistani military moves include
large-scale troop movements, the
dispersal of fighter aircraft and
preparations for the transportation
of nuclear weapons from storage
sites.
 India also is moving thousands
of its troops near the border with
Pakistan and has dispersed some
aircraft to safer sites away from
border airfields, say officials
familiar with intelligence reports of
the war moves.
 Pakistan is moving the equivalent of two armored brigades
— several thousand troops and hundreds of tanks and
armored vehicles — near the northern part of its border with
India.
 Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy mortar fire
over their border in southern Kashmir today, Agence
France-Presse reported. Five Indian soldiers were seriously
injured in the heaviest shelling in four months, a senior Indian
army official said.
 More than 1,000 villagers were evacuated from their
homes overnight for the operation, according to the report.
 Officials say the most alarming signs are preparations in
both states for the use of nuclear-tipped missiles.
 Intelligence agencies have learned of indications that India
is getting its short-range Prithvi ballistic missiles ready for use.
The missiles are within range of the Pakistani capital,
Islamabad.
 Meanwhile, Pakistan is mobilizing its Chinese-made
mobile M-11 missiles, also known as the Shaheen, which
have been readied for movement from a base near Sargodha,
Pakistan.
 Intelligence reports indicate that India will have all its
forces ready to launch an attack as early as this week, with
Thursday or Friday as possible dates.
 Pakistan could launch its forces before those dates in a
pre-emptive strike.
 Disclosure of the war preparations comes as President
Bush on Saturday telephoned leaders of both nations, urging
them to calm tensions, a sign of administration concern over
the military moves in the region.
 The administration also fears that a conflict between India
and Pakistan would undermine U.S. efforts to find terrorists
in Afghanistan.
 U.S. military forces are heavily reliant on Pakistani
government permission to conduct overflights for bombing
and other aircraft operations into Afghanistan, primarily from
aircraft carriers located in the Arabian Sea.
 With tensions growing between the states, U.S.
intelligence officials are divided over the ultimate meaning of
the indicators of an impending conflict.
 The Pentagon's Joint Staff intelligence division, known as
J-2, late last week had assessed the danger of conflict at
critical levels.
 Other joint intelligence centers outside the Pentagon,
including those supporting the U.S. military forces responsible
for the Asia-Pacific region and for Southwest Asia, assess the
danger of an India-Pakistan war as less than critical but still
serious.
 Intelligence officials are especially worried about
Pakistan's nuclear arsenal because control over the weapons
is decentralized. Even before the latest moves, regional
commanders could order the use of the weapons, which are
based on missiles or fighter-bombers.
 The Prithvi has a range of about 155 miles, and the
Indians are estimated to have some 75 Prithvis in their
arsenal.
 They also are working on longer-range Agni missiles.
 U.S. intelligence officials believe India has about 60
nuclear weapons that can be delivered by missiles or aircraft.
 Its nuclear-capable aircraft include Russian-made
bombers, including 10 Tu-142 Bears and four Tu-22M
Backfires, as well as several hundred MiG-27, MiG-29 and
Su-30 fighter-bombers.
 Pakistan's missile force consists of some 50 M-11s, which
have a range of about 186 miles, enough to hit the Indian
capital of New Delhi. Its medium-range Ghauri missiles have
a range of about 800 miles, enough to hit most parts of India.
 U.S. intelligence agencies have obtained reconnaissance
photographs from one Pakistani missile

 AS PUNDITS MULL whether America's next target in the war on terrorism
should
 be Iraq or a smaller quarry first - such as the Sudan or Somalia - it's
time
 to consider another petri dish of ferocious anti-American hatred and
 terrorist activity. The Bush doctrine is: We are at war not only with the
 terrorists, but also with those who harbor them.

 We've got to attack France.

 Having exhausted itself in a spirited fight with the Nazis in the last
war,
 France cannot work up the energy to oppose terrorism. For decades now,
 France has nurtured, coddled and funded Islamic terrorists. (Moreover, the
 Great Satan is getting a little sick of our McDonald's franchises being
 attacked on behalf of notoriously inefficient French dairy farmers.)

 At the 1972 Olympics, Muslim terrorists assassinated 11 Israeli athletes
and
 one German policeman. Five years later, acting on intelligence from
Israeli
 secret police, French counterespionage agents arrested the reputed
 mastermind of the massacre, Abu Daoud. Both Israel and West Germany sought
 the extradition of Daoud. Afraid of upsetting Muslim terrorists, France
 refused on technical grounds and set him free.

 In 1986, Libyan agents of Moammar Gadhafi planted a bomb in a West Berlin
 discotheque, killing an American serviceman and a Turkish woman. Hundreds
 more were injured. President Reagan retaliated with air strikes against
 Libyan military targets - including Gadhafi's living quarters.

 Quaking in the face of this show of manly force, France denied America the
 use of its airspace. As a consequence, American pilots were required to
 begin their missions from airbases in Britain. When the pilots finally
made
 it to Tripoli, tired from the long flights and showing a puckish sense of
 humor, they bombed the French embassy by mistake. POW! So sorry, our
 mistake.

 France has repeatedly decried economic sanctions against Iraq and has
 accused the United Nations of manufacturing evidence against Saddam
Hussein.
 The U.N., not even the Great Satan. The French U.N. ambassador dismissed
 aerial photographs of Iraqi military trucks fleeing inspection sites just
 before U.N. weapons inspectors arrived as - quote - perhaps a truckers'
 picnic.

 Along with the rest of the European Union, France sends millions of
dollars
 to the Palestinian Authority every year. Sucking up to the P.A. has really
 paid dividends to the craven butterbellies. While visiting Arafat in Gaza
 last year to announce several million more dollars in aid, Prime Minister
 Lionel Jospin was attacked by angry, stone-throwing Palestinian students.

 Earlier this year, France connived with human-rights champions China and
 Cuba to toss the United States off the U.N. Human Rights Commission. Sudan
 took America's place, and, if its diplomats are not too bogged down with
 human torture and slave trading, they are very much looking forward to
 attending the meetings.

 This summer, Paris made Mumia Abu-Jamal an honorary citizen of Paris. In
 America's cowboy, bloodlust, rush-to-judgment approach to the death
penalty,
 this convicted Philadelphia cop-killer has been sitting on death row - and
 giving radio interviews and college commencement addresses - for 20 years.
 Since Mumia sounds like a Muslim terrorist, Parisians can use the same
 bumper stickers for the war.

 Two weeks into America's war on terrorism, Le Figaro began calling for
 American restraint. In polls, 47 percent of the French said they
believed
 the U.S. military action was failing. Seventeen percent thought it was
 working (which was - admittedly - 17 percent more than on the New York
Times
 editorial page). Flaunting France's well-established reputation as a
 fearsome fighting machine, the French foreign minister, Hubert Vedrine,
 immediately advised the United States to stop bombing Afghanistan.

 The first indictment to come out of the Sept. 11 attacks was of a French
 national, Zacarias Moussaoui. He is believed to be the intended 20th
 hijacker on Bloody Tuesday. France quickly moved to extend consular
 protection for Moussaoui. Intriguingly, French Justice Minister Marylise
 Lebranchu has demanded that Moussaoui not be executed.

 Mlle. Lebranchu seems to have forgotten, but WE ARE THE GREAT SATAN! We
also
 have Moussaoui. It's annoying enough when these celebrated Nazi slayers
 refuse to extradite terrorists on the grounds that America does not
observe
 the pristine judicial formalities of their pals, China, Cuba and the
Sudan.
 But under what zany theory of international law does France think it can
 tell us what to do with a terrorist we caught right here on U.S. soil?

 The Great Satan is wearying of this reverse hegemony, in which little
 pipsqueak nations try to impose their pipsqueak values on us. Aren't we
the
 ones who should be arrogantly oppressing countries that unaccountably do
not
 have the death penalty?

  Something doesn't look right to me about the haggard Bin Laden.  There's

We ?

Who is we ?  We, from where I can imagine you're sitting, is
reposing in a nicely comfortable abode with central heat and hot and
cold running water.  Whether it's dreams of streaking across the sky
over Afghanland or France (as you suggest) or Britland (the more
likely candidate), the we that you so generously use is probably
thinking about what outfit to wear to the next Nouvelle Cuisine
soiree' to reminisce about them good old dayze when Bill Jeff was in
your sights, but not in your clutches.

I notice there's a LOT of use by the mediacracy of the word we.  It

may be used by you or Jonah or some of the other limelit luminaries,
those who probably were never subject to real, actual, physical
inclusion and participation in the military, those who slept with
their deferments under their pillows (if not down their shorts), all
of those who are able boosters, those not quite on the cheerleading
squad nor even close to being on the team.  We is not they.

Of course, I may be wrong: you (collectively if not individually) may

have coerced or co-opted the local recruiter or Department of Offense

bigwig to bestow upon you the unique opportunity to undergo years of
true and committed service to your country.  Then again, I may be
right: that armchair is great for quarterbacking the Redskins or
generalling the armies or admiralling the navies.  The upteenth rerun

of Hanks' pretending to be a captain in a stylised war (replicating
the one that preceded his own lifetime) just gets the mood right.

As for France, it's an easy target of course.  Being the only
European nation that chose to declare its independence from the
continued perpetual occupation by American forces following the
Second Great War, there's a natural tendency to be brusque about its
past actions.  Yet, one cannot avoid the Truth of why the Americans
fought in both the First and Second Great Wars: to perserve France.
Even JP Buchanan recognises that Britland was probably in no danger
to falling to the Germans nor was Russia.

The key was, of course, to perserve the only other truly
revolutionary country in the world, our sibling in the struggle for

the sovereignty of human dignity, the land of true thought, culture,
and the originators of connaisseurs and connaissueses.  The only
danger to these principles has been the existence of Britland, the
most tried and failed of the imperialist colonial empires the world
has ever known.  If you recall American history, it was against this
nation that my forebears fought for their independence.  It was
against this nation that Jeanne d'Arc fought for her peoples'
independence.  The connexion between the far past, the American past
and the present is Britland has essentially the same form of waning,
wasting, and withering government, one that has bestowed upon the
world the blessings of Palestine, Kashmir, Northern Ireland, and
various other political nuts to crack.  This of course, does not
ignore its vast connexions to various groups of extreme vandals,
the sort that perpetrated the events of 9-11.

Again, France has resisted pollution of its heritage and it is in
support of this resistance that Americans have come to her aid!

For those of you holding your breath since last year's list of truly bizarre news 
events, it's finally time to exhale. Once again, WorldNetDaily presents a recap of the 
weirdest, most entertaining stories of the year, all
 in one easy-opening package.

I thought I might not write this article for a time, since Sept. 11 was like a massive 
blow to the solar plexus. But President Bush urged us to get back to work, letting 
freedom ring. So as you read on, keep in mind it's
your patriotic duty to enjoy yourself.



'Maddie' Albright mistaken for hotel maid
When we last met on this subject, then-Secretary of State Maddie Albright had been 
mistaken for a hotel maid by Albanian diplomats and launched into a tirade of 
four-letter words to express her outrage. I suggested she mi
ght seek employment with the likes of Holiday Inn after her government job, but I 
forgot that housekeepers need to demonstrate at least a small degree of courtesy 
before they're hired. I wasn't sure if 2001 could live up
to such silliness, but alas, it has.

Mailman goes poo-stal

Let's begin with the case of the Michigan postal worker who snapped after being fired 
for poor job performance. Thankfully, he didn't return to his office toting firearms. 
Instead, 62-year-old James Beal had a more down-
to-earth arsenal: a couple of buckets filled with porcupine dung and worms. Beal went 
into a fecal frenzy, whipping the dung at his former colleagues.

It was in their pockets, it was in their shoes, Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark 
Courtade told the Grand Rapids Press. At least three people were covered from their 
head all the way down to their feet.

As for Beal, who faces sentencing in March, he said, I let my anger with this, sort 
of, overrule my judgments.

Man's wife is a dog

The courtroom is always a hotbed of bizarre activity, and it doesn't get much more 
bizarre than this. The Bangor Daily News has been covering the case of a man accused 
of trying to kill his grown son due to the son's attr
action to animals, specifically a short-legged, mixed-breed dog named Lady. If that in 
itself is not strange enough, the son wrote the judge a note asking permission for his 
Lady friend to be allowed in the courtroom.

I'd like my significant other to attend by my side if possible as she was present in 
the house during the attack, though not an eyewitness to it, thank goodness, Phillip 
Buble wrote. I've been informed your personal pe
rmission is needed given that my wife is not human, being a dog of about 36 pounds 
weight and very well-behaved.

The request, which carried Buble's signature and a hand-drawn paw print, was denied.

Toyota or toy Yoda?


Yoda: Toy not with the force.
A legal battle that began with selling beer is still brewing in Florida. Jodee Berry 
is a former waitress at a Hooters restaurant in Panama City Beach. She says she was 
promised a new car for winning the company sales com
petition. But instead of a Toyota, her employers gave her a toy Yoda doll from the 
Star Wars collection. Not amused, Berry sued, and a judge has already ruled against 
the company's effort to have the case dismissed. Per
haps her saga should be entitled Episode II: The Waitress Strikes Back.

Breaking news: Court passes on gas

Sometimes, there are news stories some people feel are simply in poor taste, while 
others find them hilarious. Here are a couple of cases to illustrate this.

The Age of Melbourne, Australia, reported that passing gas was ruled an involuntary 
and natural circumstance. While this might seem like an obvious statement of fact, a 
man had actually been convicted of intentional fla
tulence in front of a police officer.

Amid muffled laughter, Judge Leslie Ross was told how David Grixti, 28, walked toward 
the Werribee police station counter and, after being asked if he needed help, poked 
the rear end of his body out and broke wind, the
report said. The judge dismissed the $200 fine, saying just because a person bent over 
to make the situation a little more comfortable, it didn't prove it was deliberate.

I don't believe ... you can turn that particular piece of human behavior on at will, 
Ross said.

'I don't get no respect'


No respect for Rodney Dangerfield.
The other story that seemed to push the bounds of good taste was the on- air bet by 
two Virginia disc jockeys whether comedian Rodney Dangerfield, who was recuperating 
from a mild heart attack, would survive until Christm
as. The wager was made by the same guys who sought to have a hockey team blast pucks 
at a friend's crotch to prevent him from breeding. Thankfully, Dangerfield made it to 
Christmas, and we hope he reaches many more,

Hope you had a merry Christmas – 'cause it's gonna be a Satanic new
year

My last New Year's column contained a statement that stands out, in
retrospect, as a prediction and a warning that, unfortunately, went
unheeded. America, I wrote,

Stands astride the world, a global Gulliver lording it over the
Lilliputians. But at the apogee of its power, the US is subject to
the irony of world hegemony – increased vulnerability.

SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES

Little did I know how vulnerable. Like most Americans, I never imagined that, less 
than a year later, we would all be staring in disbelief at the smoking ruins of the 
Pentagon – and a good part of downtown Manhattan. But
I knew something was amiss: In the coming year, I predicted, the profiteers of 
empire will be especially busy selling the whole panoply of 'good works' the US is 
performing overseas, especially in the Middle East, wh
ere we are ostensibly fighting another bogey of the modern world, 'terrorism.' Whether 
the American people are buying it is another question.

OVER THE HORIZON

Well, if they weren't buying it before, now they certainly are – and with a vengeance. 
As the US goes rampaging through Central Asia in search of Osama bin Laden and his 
Terrorist International, the War Party has been giv
en a blank check – and they're diddling over how much to make it out for. But you 
didn't have to be a certified seer, a Nostradamus or a Jean Dixon, to see what was 
coming over the horizon. Reiterating the Clintonian reco
rd – a new military intervention every few months – I wrote:

These days, the brazen belligerence of the US goes way beyond arrogance and all the 
way to hubris, the old Greek conception of a pride so overweening that it literally 
begs to be toppled, like Icarus felled for daring to
 approach the sun.

ICARUS UNREPENTANT

Yet Icarus hasn't learned his lesson. Still reaching for that bright orb, he doesn't 
realize he's been blinded. Lashing out, he stumbles about in the darkness, bellowing 
like a wounded giant, and wreaking devastation acro
ss the globe. Already the ripple effect caused by the US military campaign has caused 
disruption throughout the region, with India moving quickly to destabilize Pakistan. 
The nutball Hindu nationalists who hold sway in Ne
w Delhi have recently acquired a cache of new weapons from Israel – and don't think 
they won't use them.

A WARNING

India and Israel have a lot in common: not only a mutual hatred of Islam, but also an 
expressed willingness to use nuclear weapons. It was not for nothing, after all, that 
Israel recently admitted what it has always offic
ially denied (even though everyone knew the story of Mordecai Vanunu): yes, they have 
nukes. But why admit this now, at the height of the crisis, unless it is meant as a 
warning that they won't hesitate to use them?

THE BRAHMIN BOMB

On the other side of the Middle East, New Delhi's Brahmins are wielding the nuclear 
stick more openly, explicitly threatening Pakistan with the unthinkable. At issue is 
the Vale of Kashmir, a section of Central Asia so mo
untainous and inaccessible that it makes the terrain of Afghanistan look like a golf 
course. India has always claimed it, in spite of its overwhelmingly Muslim population. 
If India allowed a real national referendum, Kash
mir would doubtless go with Pakistan, but New Delhi's Great Power conceit would 
never permit that, and so the region has been in a constant state of war since the 
partition of India and Pakistan more than 50 years ago.

IMPERIAL INDIA

From this lair of Islamic terrorism, various Islamic tribes and groups have 
launched attacks on India proper, and the Brahmins, asserting their regional 
hegemony, have decided to follow the good example of the United St
ates in pursuing terrorism to its source. Since the Indians aver – without offering 
any proof – that the terrorist attacks have been organized and directed by Islamabad, 
and that these groups are little more than proxie
s for Pakistan, in effect a de facto state of war already exists between the two 
nuclear-armed nations. And the conflict is rapidly spreading….

THE RIPPLE EFFECT

The news that China has moved its troops up to the border with India should have hit 
the headlines like a thunderclap. The dominoes are falling fast, and even rippling 
outward to the edge of the world, where North Korea –
 starving, desperate, and demented – teeters on the brink. The mystery ship that 
invaded Japanese waters and was sunk by the Japanese Defense Force sent shockwaves 
through Japan, and globalized this perilous moment.

ON THE BRINK

Are we standing on the brink of World War III? It all depends on just how crazy are 
the Hindu nationalists who rule an increasingly bizarre and militant India. Perhaps 
not all of them are particular devotees

The trouble with multiculturalism

UK home secretary David Blunkett suggests that immigrants should be
required to speak English, and urges ethnic minorities to become
'more British'.

The Home Office-sponsored Cantle report on the riots in Oldham,
Burnley and Bradford, released on 11 December, recommends that all
immigrants be required to swear an 'oath of allegiance' to Britain.
David Ritchie, author of a separate, independent report on the Oldham
riots, published on the same day, criticises the 'self-segregation'
of ethnic minorities, and the failure of ethnic minority leaders to
encourage greater integration.

Blunkett, Ritchie and the authors of the Cantle report all agree that
the problem of race relations in Britain stems from the 'difference'
of ethnic minorities. This belief has been at the heart of policy
debate in Britai
n throughout the postwar period, and is at the heart of the arguments of both 
supporters and opponents of multiculturalism.

In the vociferous debate that has raged in the UK over recent weeks about the merits 
or otherwise of a multicultural society, both sides have very different views of the 
Britain they wish to see. They agree, however, that
 Britain has become a multicultural nation because immigrants (and their children) 
have demanded that their cultural differences be recognised and afforded respect. 
Supporters of multiculturalism urge the state to see suc
h diversity as a public good; opponents use it to make a case against immigration and, 
in some cases, for repatriation.

This view of multiculturalism gets reality upside down. Far from being a response to 
demands from local communities, multiculturalism was imposed from the top, the product 
of policies instituted by national governments an
d local authorities in order to defuse the anger created by racism.

To understand this better, we need to look again at the history of postwar race 
relations policy in Britain. The arrival of large numbers of black immigrants in the 
1950s from India, Pakistan and the Caribbean created con
flicting pressures on policy-makers. While they welcomed the influx of new labour, 
there was at the same time considerable unease about the impact that such immigration 
may have on traditional concepts of Britishness. As
a Colonial Office report of 1955 observed, 'a large coloured community as a noticeable 
feature of our social life would weaken…the concept of England or Britain to which 
people of British stock throughout the Commonwealth
 are attached'.

For the British elite of the time, its sense of self and identity was mediated through 
the concept of race. Britishness was a racial concept and large-scale migration from 
the colonies threatened to disrupt the racialised
 sense of identity. Even in the 1950s, though, it was clear that such a simple notion 
of Britishness could not be sustained for long. It was a form of national identity 
rooted in a Britain and in an Empire that was alread
y crumbling. Moreover, the experience of Nazism and the Holocaust had rendered 
virtually unusable the kind of racial exclusiveness embodied in this notion of 
national identity.

In any case, by the end of the 1950s black immigrants were already a fact of life in 
Britain. Despite the subsequent attempts by politicians from Enoch Powell to Margaret 
Thatcher to Norman Tebbit to formulate a racially
exclusive concept of Britishness, it was already apparent by the end of the 1950s that 
British identity would have to be reformulated to include the presence in this country 
of black citizens.

In the 1960s, therefore, policy-makers embarked on a new 'twin track' strategy in 
response to immigration. On the one hand, they imposed increasingly restrictive 
immigration controls specifically designed to exclude black
 immigrants. On the other, they instituted a framework of legislation aimed at 
outlawing racial discrimination and at facilitating the integration of black 
communities into British society. Labour MP Roy Hattersley's famo
us aphorism that 'Without limitation integration is impossible, without integration 
limitation is inexcusable' pithily summed up the interwoven nature of immigration laws 
and race relations legislation.

The twin-track strategy helped promote the idea of Britain as a tolerant, pluralistic 
nation that was determined to stamp out any trace of discriminatory practice based on 
racial or ethnic difference. Britain, in the word
s of then Labour home secretary Roy Jenkins, set out to create 'cultural diversity, 
coupled with equal opportunity, in an atmosphere of mutual tolerance'.

At the same time, though, the linking of immigration and integration implied that 
social problems arose from the very presence in Britain of culturally distinct

The Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek has gained something of a cult
following for his many writings - including The Ticklish Subject, a
playful critique of the intellectual assault upon human subjectivity
(1).

At the prestigious Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2001, he talked to
Sabine Reul and Thomas Deichmann about subjectivity,
multiculturalism, sex and unfreedom after 11 September.
Has 11 September thrown new light on your diagnosis of what is
happening to the world?
Slavoj Žižek: One of the endlessly repeated phrases we heard in
recent weeks is that nothing will be the same after 11 September. I
wonder if there really is such a substantial change. Certainly, there
is change at the level of perception or publicity, but I don't think
we can yet speak of some fundamental break. Existing attitudes and
fears were confirmed, and what the media were telling us about
terrorism has now really happened.

In my work, I place strong emphasis on what is usually referred to as the 
virtualisation or digitalisation of our environment. We know that 60 percent of the 
people on this Earth have not even made a phone call in their l
ife. But still, 30 percent of us live in a digitalised universe that is artificially 
constructed, manipulated and no longer some natural or traditional one. At all levels 
of our life we seem to live more and more with the
 thing deprived of its substance. You get beer without alcohol, meat without fat, 
coffee without caffeine...and even virtual sex without sex.

Virtual reality to me is the climax of this process: you now get reality without 
reality...or a totally regulated reality. But there is another side to this. 
Throughout the entire twentieth century, I see a counter-tenden
cy, for which my good philosopher friend Alain Badiou invented a nice name: 'La 
passion du réel', the passion of the real. That is to say, precisely because the 
universe in which we live is somehow a universe of dead conv
entions and artificiality, the only authentic real experience must be some extremely 
violent, shattering experience. And this we experience as a sense that now we are back 
in real life.
Do you think that is what we are seeing now?
Slavoj Žižek: I think this may be what defined the twentieth century, which really 
began with the First World War. We all remember the war reports by Ernst Jünger, in 
which he praises this eye-to-eye combat experience as
the authentic one. Or at the level of sex, the archetypal film of the twentieth 
century would be Nagisa Oshima's Ai No Corrida (In The Realm Of The Senses), where the 
idea again is that you become truly radical, and go to
 the end in a sexual encounter, when you practically torture each other to death. 
There must be extreme violence for that encounter to be authentic.

Another emblematic figure in this sense to me is the so-called 'cutter'- a widespread 
pathological phenomenon in the USA. There are two million of them, mostly women, but 
also men, who cut themselves with razors. Why? It
has nothing to do with masochism or suicide. It's simply that they don't feel real as 
persons and the idea is: it's only through this pain and when you feel warm blood that 
you feel reconnected again. So I think that this
 tension is the background against which one should appreciate the effect of the act.
Does that relate to your observations about the demise of subjectivity in The Ticklish 
Subject? You say the problem is what you call 'foreclosure'- that the real or the 
articulation of the subject is foreclosed by the way
 society has evolved in recent years.
Slavoj Žižek: The starting point of my book on the subject is that almost all 
philosophical orientations today, even if they strongly oppose each other, agree on 
some kind of basic anti- subjectivist stance. For example,
Jürgen Habermas and Jacques Derrida would both agree that the Cartesian subject had to 
be deconstructed, or, in the case of Habermas, embedded in a larger inter-subjective 
dialectics. Cognitivists, Hegelians - everybody i
s in agreement here.

I am tempted to say that we must return to the subject - though not a purely rational 
Cartesian one. My idea is that the subject is inherently political, in the sense that 
'subject', to me, denotes a piece of freedom - wh
ere you are no longer rooted in some firm substance, you are in an open situation. 
Today we can no longer simply apply old rules. We are engaged in paradoxes, which 
offer no immediate way out. In this sense, subjectivity
is political.
But this kind of political subjectivity seems to have disappeared. In your books you 
speak of a post-political world.
Slavoj Žižek: When I say we live in a post-political world, I refer to a wrong 
ideological impression. We don't really live in such a world, but the existing 
universe

World Jewish Congress´ future murky
as changes shake up advocacy group.

NEW YORK, Dec. 27 (JTA) — The World Jewish Congress, the aggressive
international organization that led the multibillion-dollar fight for
Holocaust restitution, is undergoing dramatic changes that raise
questions about the future of the group, its mission, and where its
seat of power will be located. For the first time in its 60-year
history the post of secretary-general — the top paid position — will
be based in Jerusalem.

Current New York-based Secretary-General Israel Singer is stepping
down from the post he has held for the last 15 years.

His deputy, Elan Steinberg, who as WJC executive director was the
second- ranking paid professional, is leaving the group after 27
years because, according to sources, he was not tapped to replace
Singer. (Steinberg denies this.)

With billionaire Jewish philanthropist Edgar Bronfman, who has been
WJC president for the last 20 years, the trio has taken on Swiss
banks, the Vatican, the German government and former Austrian
President Kurt Waldheim, on Holocaust-related issues of restitution
and the role of the Catholic Church during World War II.

But Bronfman, 72, who in October was elected to a fifth five-year
term as WJC president, has said he intends to step down in the next
two years, according to several WJC officials. Bronfman originally
had decided not to run again, said several WJC sources, speaking on
condition of anonymity.

They said Bronfman was persuaded to seek a new term in order to block
the potential candidacy of fellow billionaire Ronald Lauder, the
cosmetics heir and president of the Jewish National Fund who was
lobbying to become the next WJC president.

The sources said Bronfman and some other top WJC officials did not feel Lauder would 
be able to complete to their satisfaction the Holocaust restitution projects that 
Bronfman began.

It´s pretty clear he [Bronfman] did not want to entrust this with Lauder, said a 
source who requested anonymity.

Neither Bronfman nor Lauder could be reached for comment.

Singer declined to discuss the matter.

Meanwhile, the man elected to replace Singer, Avi Beker, WJC´s director of 
international affairs, will be based in Jerusalem.

It was not clear this week whether the WJC will replace Singer or Steinberg in the New 
York office, raising questions about the future of the American section of the WJC, 
which claims to represent Jewish communities in 80
 countries.

I don´t know if there will be a paid professional here, Steinberg said.

It´s too early to tell, said Singer.

One Jewish activist said he was worried about the changes.

For me the biggest concern is what does this mean for the future of the World Jewish 
Congress? said Neal Sher, former head of AIPAC, the nation´s top pro- Israel lobby, 
and former head of the Justice Department´s Nazi-p
rosecuting Office of Special Investigations.

Sher contended that the myriad battles over Holocaust restitution that the WJC has 
fought over the last six years, could only have been done from the United States.

But WJC senior vice president Isidore Leibler hailed the move to Jerusalem because it 
symbolically places Israel front and center in the mission of the worldwide group, 
where, he said, it belongs.

I believe it is highly timely and I hope it will mean the WJC will recognize more 
than in the past the need to back Israel, said Leibler, who moved to Jerusalem some 
years ago from Australia. I hope helping Israel will
 be the major function as opposed to all other things [the group] is involved in … 
because we are going through an existential struggle in Israel.

The WJC, formed in 1936, seeks to intensify bonds of world Jewry with Israel and 
strengthen solidarity of among Jews everywhere and secure their rights, status and 
interests ad individuals and communities, according to
the American Jewish Year Book. Some observers say the last two decades it was largely 
the fiefdom of Bronfman, who revitalized the group founded by Rabbi Stephen Wise and 
Nachum Goldmann. He gave it financial clout and br
ought in Singer and Steinberg to run the operation, which regained headlines with its 
leadership role in the restitution issue after years of back-channel diplomatic work 
in the former Soviet Union and with the Vatican.

Singer told The Jewish Week that the power of the WJC will be split in two: the 
administrative center will be in Jerusalem while the political center will remain in 
the Diaspora, where, it appears, he and Bronfman will
continue to dominate.

Singer said while he is indeed leaving his paid position within
weeks, he expects to still be the No. 2 man at WJC, after

was not pleased with the recently passed foreign aid bill.

Congress approves aid for Israel,
Palestinian people — but not P.A.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 (JTA) — Congress may hope to penalize the
Palestinian Authority for its failure to curb terrorism, but
humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people remains intact in
America´s foreign aid bill.

The House passed the Foreign Operations Appropriation bill Wednesday
evening by a 357 to 66 vote. CThe Senate approved it by unanimous
consent on Thursday.

The United States is expected to send $75 million to the
Palestinians. That would be distributed through the United States
Agency for International Development, and no money would go directly
to the Palestinian Authority.

While many pieces of legislation have threatened to block economic aid from going to 
the Palestinian Authority, none of the bills targets the aid designed to improve 
Palestinian infrastructure and environment.

What we are trying to do is not cut off needed services for the Palestinian people, 
when they are not the ones anyone wants to target, an official with a Jewish 
organization said.

The $15.6 billion foreign aid bill provides $2.7 billion in economic and military aid 
to Israel and close to $2 billion for Egypt.

The bill did not please Sen. Robert Byrd (D.-W. Va.), chair of the Senate´s 
Appropriations Committee, who said the U.S. should use foreign aid as a tool to 
leverage peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

The bill ignores Mideast violence and is a tacit acknowledgment that the United 
States can not end the violence in the region, Byrd said. Yet he said he would not 
object to the bill.

The bill includes a provision urging President Bush to review Palestinian Authority 
compliance with its peace agreements with Israel. The bill also suggests the president 
should impose sanctions on the Palestinian Authori
ty and its president, Yasser Arafat, if he does not rein in Palestinian violence.

That language is a compromise worked out after Sept. 11, when Bush administration 
officials asked Senate leaders to eliminate binding language that would force the 
president to assess Palestinian compliance and impose san
ctions.

The language had passed the House and had strong support in the Senate. However, 
Secretary of State Colin Powell urged lawmakers to abandon it after the Sept. 11 
attacks, saying it was counterproductive to the governmen
t´s efforts to woo Arab states for a coalition against terrorism. The language 
ultimately was changed in conference committee.

Rep. Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) said she preferred the House´s original binding resolution.

The events of recent weeks have made it obvious why Arafat must know that, if he 
reneges on his commitments, his relationship with the United States will suffer, 
Lowey said on the House floor Wednesday. I do believe th
e language in this conference agreement expresses the clear will of Congress on this 
matter, and I have already urged the President to comply.

Congress passed a similar measure earlier this month in the wake of suicide attacks in 
Israel, calling on President Bush to suspend relations with Arafat unless there is a 
concerted effort to fight terrorism. That legisla
tion also was non-binding.

Under the aid bill, Israel will receive the full amount requested from the Bush 
administration — $2.04 billion for military aid and $720 million for economic needs.

That allotment is consistent with a plan to increase military aid to Israel by $60 
million and cut economic aid by $120 million in each of the next 10 years.

The bill does not include $800 million in supplemental aid the United States promised 
after Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon in May 2000.

The foreign operations legislation also included language that would deny funding to 
the International Red Cross unless it recognizes its Israeli counterpart, Magen David 
Adom.

Israel´s humanitarian relief movement uses a red Star of David as its symbol. It is 
barred from the Red Cross movement — which currently recognizes only the cross, 
crescent and Persian emblems — because of pressure from A
rab and Muslim states.

Forgotten Computer Reveals Thinking Behind Four Years Of Al Qaeda Doings

KABUL, Afghanistan -- Last May, someone sat down at an IBM desktop here and
typed out a polite letter to a bitter foe of al Qaeda, the anti-Taliban
leader Ahmed Shah Massoud. The writer tapped at the computer for 97 minutes,
according to its internal record, then printed out the fruit of his labor: a
request for an interview with Mr. Massoud, to be conducted by one of our
best journalists, Mr. Karim Touzani.
On Sept. 9, two men posing as journalists, one carrying a passport in the
name of Karim Touzani, detonated a hidden bomb as they interviewed Mr.
Massoud. The legendary Afghan commander was mortally wounded. Two days later
came the suicide attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
Now, as al Qaeda, the group blamed for all of those lethal attacks, is
uprooted from its Afghan sanctuaries, it is leaving behind
cyber-fingerprints. The letter to Mr. Massoud is one of hundreds of text
documents and video files in a computer evidently used for four years by al
Qaeda chieftains in Kabul. Its hard drive is a repository for correspondence
with militant Muslims around the world, portraying al Qaeda bosses
struggling to administer, inspire and discipline the sprawling global
organization.
Daily Concerns
Dating from early 1997 through this fall, the files paint a picture of both
ghoulish ambitions and quotidian frustrations within an organization that,
despite its medieval zealotry, sometimes mimicked a multinational
corporation. Memos refer to al Qaeda as the company and its leadership as
the general management.
The computer files don't appear to detail the plotting of Sept. 11 or to
contain any clear plans for future attacks. But hundreds of documents,
ranging from the murderous to the mundane, illuminate issues bearing on
America's war on terrorism. Among them:
Files outlining al Qaeda efforts to launch a program of chemical and
biological weapons, code-named al Zabadi, Arabic for curdled milk. As part
of the plan to develop a home-brew nerve gas, members were given a long
reading list that included a study titled Current Concepts: Napalm.
A video file in which Osama bin Laden speaks for 23 minutes, focusing on
what he calls America's anti-Muslim crusade and mentioning the Sept. 11
attacks. Another video shows a top al Qaeda cleric and spokesman, Sheikh Abu
Gaith, appearing to acknowledge al Qaeda responsibility for the strikes.

and make the enemies of God taste what they made our brothers taste.
A letter in which a militant using the name Abu Yaser stresses that hitting
the Americans and Jews is a target of great value and has its rewards in
this life and, God willing, the afterlife. The letter is addressed to top
al Qaeda lieutenant Ayman al-Zawahri and the author says he has written to
Mr. bin Laden separately.
A memo referring to a legal study on the killing of civilians. The
writer, acknowledging this is a sensitive issue, says he has found ways to
keep the enemy from using the killing of civilians, specifically women
and children, to undermine the militants' cause.
Streets of Kabul
How a computer apparently stuffed with al Qaeda secrets came to light
involves a combination of happenstance and the opportunism of war in a
country schooled for 20 years in conflict and chaos. The desktop was
installed in a two-story brick building in Kabul that was used by al Qaeda
as an office, according to a looter who says he grabbed it and a Compaq
laptop from the office. He says he entered the building, which is now
occupied by Northern Alliance soldiers, after a November U.S. bombing raid
killed several senior al Qaeda officials in a nearby property.
As surviving al Qaeda operatives fled Kabul ahead of the city's fall, the
looter offered the computers for sale to a local computer merchant. A Wall
Street Journal reporter acquired them for $1,100, copying hundreds of files
and getting some of them translated from the Arabic. U.S. officials confirm
the authenticity of the files, most protected by passwords, and say they
provide a trove of information about the inner workings of the secretive
organization.
Frequent users of the computer, who left their names or aliases on dozens of
files, appear to include two top lieutenants of Mr. bin Laden: Dr. Zawahri
and Mohammed Atef. Dr. Zawahri is a former Cairo surgeon who merged his own
Egyptian terror outfit with al Qaeda in 1998, and is widely regarded as Mr.
bin Laden's chief strategist. Mr. Atef, killed in a November bombing raid

PAKISTAN'S KASHMIR STRATEGY
Kashmir is unique among all the crisis points along
the Indo-Pakistani border in that a marked escalation
of the fighting -- both insurgency and regular -- is
virtually inevitable before any effort for a peaceful
solution can succeed. The primary reasons is the
extent of the ideological commitment and
self-interests of several of the key players involved.

For Islamabad, the liberation of Kashmir is a sacred
mission, the only task unfulfilled since Muhammad Ali
Jinnah's days. Moreover, a crisis in Kashmir
constitutes an excellent outlet for the frustration at
home, an instrument for the mobilization of the
masses, as well as gaining the support of the Islamist
parties and primarily their loyalists in the military
and the ISI.

The ISI has a major interest to continue the crisis.
Back in the 1970s, Pakistan started to train Sikhs and
other Indian separatist movements as part of Zulfiqar
Ali Bhutto's strategy for forward strategic depth.
Pakistan adopted the sponsorship of terrorism and
subversion as an instrument to substitute for the lack
of strategic depth and early warning capabilities. The
Pakistani sponsored terrorists and the Pakistani
intelligence operatives in their ranks would be able
to warn Pakistan of any impending Indian invasion, and
then launch a guerrilla warfare against the Indian
Army even before it reached the border with Pakistan.
Therefore, sponsoring separatist subversion has become
a crucial component of Islamabad's national military
strategy.

During the 1980s, the ISI completed a vast training
and support infrastructure for the Afghan resistance
that was also used for the training and support of
other regional groups. There was a corresponding
ideological development in Indian Kashmir. Since 1984,
virtually suddenly, the prevailing popular sentiments
in Indian Kashmir was that Islam is in Danger, and
that sentiment, rather than nationalism, began
mobilizing the youth.

The timing of the change was not spontaneous. Hashim
Qureshi, the founder of the nationalist JKLF [Jammu
Kashmir Liberation Front] recently recalled how in
1984 ISI Generals and Brigadiers approached me with
the offer: 'get us young people for training from the
Valley so that they could fight India on return.'
When he refused, Qureshi explained, his struggle was
taken over by the ISI who installed Amanullah Khan.
It is tragic that so-called nationalist Amanullah
Khan and some of his supporters started the present
struggle in Kashmir in league with the ISI. A man with
common intelligence can understand that any movement
started in a Muslim majority area with the help of
Pakistani military intelligence will eventually mean
religious struggle. Qureshi stressed that by 1993
Amanullah proved that he was an agent of the ISI
having sacrificed the nationalist liberation struggle
in Kashmir on the altar of Islamist politics. Qureshi
himself had to flee Pakistan and seek political asylum
in Western Europe.

Meanwhile, by the late-1980s, with the war in
Afghanistan slowing down, the vast network of training
camps for Afghan Mujahideen was transformed by the ISI
into a center of Islamist terrorism throughout south
Asia, as well as the melting pot of the world wide
Islamist Jihad. This transformation concurred with an
active ISI program to initiate full-fledged
subversion in Kashmir Valley that is still
escalating. At first, the ISI's assistance to the
Kashmiri Islamists was funnelled through Gulbaddin
Hekmatiyar's Hizb-i Islami, thus providing Islamabad
with deniability.

Islamabad increases its support for Islamist terrorism
in Kashmir because there is a genuine whole hearted
commitment to Jihad among the Kashmiri terrorists and
their international volunteers. Moreover, the ISI
transformed its major paramilitary command into a
major political force as a direct result of their
increase of support for terrorism in India. Presently,
there is a need for a mission use for the ISI's
numerous para-military and Afghan forces, as well as
an institutional interest in preserving the political
clout that comes with these operations. Islamabad
finds a task for the ISI's vast Pakistani and Afghan
cadres previously involved in sponsoring the Jihad in
Afghanistan but who are now no longer needed, that
would keep them away from domestic politics and power
struggles. Indeed, the escalation of terrorism and
subversion since the early 1990s

ISLAMABAD, Dec 29: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has given
deadline of May 31, 2002 to the government to privatize Pakistan
Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and the United Bank
Limited (UBL).

According to the officials concerned, all necessary arrangements
were currently being made to make sure that both PTCL and the UBL
were disinvested by May 31.

A decision has been taken to disinvest 20 to 26 per cent shares of
the PTCL along with transfer of management to a strategic buyer.
The Privatization Commission (PC) is hoping to collect 700 to 900
million dollar by partially privatizing the PTCL which is one of
the major profit making state sector enterprises. Earlier, 10 per
cent shares of the company were sold in early 1990s, which earned
850 million dollar.

Officials said that according to their schedule, PTCL and the UBL
should be privatized in the first quarter of 2002.

So far five Expressions of Interest (EOIs) had been received by the
Privatization Commission for disinvesting the mighty PTCL. But the
officials of the PC were hoping to have two more competitors to
join the race for winning over the PTCL. The decision had
reportedly been taken on December 8 to associate at least two more
UAE-based companies/groups.

Three international companies had been pre-qualified on December 8
to disinvest 49 per cent shares of the UBL along with transfer of
management. And now the process of due diligence of the three
companies was currently being conducted so that their bidding could
take place in time. The Union Bank, a foreign consortium comprising
Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB) and an Abu Dhabi-based company having
joint venture with Best Way Cement is one of the groups that had
been pre-qualified to take part in the bidding of the UBL.
officials said that the UBL transactions would give a big boost to
disinvestment of state enterprises during the next few months.

They said that preparatory steps towards privatizing and
restructuring of state-owned enterprises including launching of the
process of privatization of the telecommunication company, one
major state owned bank and the government interests in nine oil
fields had been initiated with new vigour in order to manage
considerable foreign exchange by disinvesting them as quickly as
possible. Numerous expressions of interest were received in each of
these cases, and closure was envisaged by December 2001.

However, recent events brought the process to a temporary halt. The
drought, oil prices and insufficient tariff adjustments prior to
1999 added to the already deteriorating financial conditions of
Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) andKarachi
Electricity Supply Corporation (KESC).

The process of corporatizing Wapda's successor companies with the
technical support of the World Bank and with the financial support
of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), preparation for the
privatization of the KESC had been launched.

Pricewaterhouse Cooper - the financial adviser of the KESC - had
been appointed jointly by the Privatization Commission and the
Asian Development Bank (ADB) to finalize the deal. The KESC is
almost 99 per cent government-owned company whose most of the debt
had been converted into equity.

The government was also planning to change the law so that future
buyer of the KESC should share its profits with the consumers. The
government intends to prescribe certain limit of profit and if that
limit is exceeded, the new buyer will have to offer certain
percentage of this profit to the electricity consumers.

is the CI (Christian Identity) position of people like John KK Knight
being wheat while the JI (Jewish Identity) position is tares. Neither has
a valid argument to present on Right of Return to the Holy Land. CI's
dogmas are a silly broken record. They claim that JI are non-Shemite
Ashkenaz or Shemite but Edomite Shemites rather than Jacobite Shemite
and that the JI Middle East land grab is a big scam...a conspiracy. Could
they do any better with 3-4,000,000 people on a new site, peaceful or
otherwise? Nobody is stopping them from applying for a Bush

Dec. 28, 2001 (EIRNS)—An array of Zionist Lobby organizations, all deeply tied to Mega and to the remnants of the 1980s "X Committee" of Jonathan Jay Pollard spy fame, are fully activated to bury the story about the Israeli drug and espionage operations against the United States, and their possible links to the events of Sept. 11. EIRNS has confirmed that Camera ("Committee for Accurate Middle East Reporting in America") has launched an e-mail, fax, and phone call campaign, to force Fox TV to drop its probe of the Israeli dope, spy, and terror scandal (indeed, Fox has removed the transcripts of the coverage from its website). 


From Dec. 11-14, Fox TV's Brit Hume Investigative Report had aired four segments on the scandal and the possible links of Israelis arrested in the U.S. to the Sept. 11 attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center, by chief political correspondent Carl Cameron. In addition to the Camera mobilization, Zionist Organization of America head Morton Klein (who attended the July 30, 2001 White House blackmail session with representatives of the evangelical Temple Mount groups of Falwell and Robertson) wrote to Fox executives, and Abe Foxman of the ADL "had conversations" with top officials of the Rupert Murdoch-owned TV network.


The Camera mobilization was, in fact, directed by the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), a group which is at the heart of the Israeli penetration of the U.S. defense and national security establishment. Founded in 1973, in the immediate aftermath of the October Arab-Israeli war, JINSA enticed active-duty and retired American military officers by all-expenses-paid junkets to Israel, where they are indoctrinated to see America's security as identical to Israel's security. The current chairman and CEO of JINSA is David P. Steinmann, who is also a director of Camera, and is the overseer of the family trust of the Rosenwald Family, of Sears Roebuck. Other JINSA directors include Steven Bryen, Richard Perle, James Woolsey, and Ken Timmerman.


On Dec. 12 and 13, 2001, Camera issued bulletins, calling on their supporters to mobilize pressure on Fox TV to kill the story. The first bulletin was titled "Fox News Recycles Bogus Anti-Israel Story," and the next day's bulletin was titled, "Fox News's Carl Cameron Recycles More Rubbish." The two bulletins formed the basis of a news story in the Dec. 21, 2001 issue of the Mega-owned weekly, Forward under the headline "Israel Calls Fox's Spy Reports 'Baseless.' " Forward is owned by former hedge-fund manager Michael Steinhardt, a charter member of the Mega Group, who has recently been involved in launching a major propaganda effort, on behalf of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, under the dubious title "Emet"—the Hebrew word for "truth."


This is a juicy additional dimension to the already gigantic scandal over the detentions of hundreds of Israelis, suspected of engaging in spying and drug trafficking inside the U.S.A. since 1998.

Decoding Minds, Foiling Adversaries

Information warfare is no longer just about machines; it is also about how
users think.

Whether a threat comes from pilot error or enemy aggression, scientists are
finding that multisensor mapping and analysis of the brain lead to systems
with human-machine interfaces that can correct human error, aid
counterintelligence work and guard against attacks.

A technology, known as bio-fusion, combines sensors to examine biological
systems to understand how information and neural structures produce thought
and to display the thought in mathematical terms. By creating an advanced
database containing these terms, researchers now can look at brain activity
and determine if a person is lying, receiving instructions incorrectly or
concentrating on certain thought types that may indicate aggression.

Mapping human brain functions is not new; however, using multiple components
of the electromagnetic spectrum allows investigators to produce a different
snapshot of the brain to gain additional insight.

Dr. John D. Norseen, systems scientist for embedded systems, Lockheed Martin
Aeronautics Company, Marietta, Georgia, is developing the bio-fusion concept
further. If you went into a hospital and had an EEG [electroencephalogram],
it is just telling you if your electrical patterns look fine, but maybe your
magnetic components are not functioning properly, he explains. What I am
encouraging is multisensor analysis of the brain--looking at many areas of
the spectrum to get a different picture.

After the information is placed in a database, a composite model of the
brain 
is created. Now, just by getting an EEG, we can begin to interpolate a
better hyperspectral analysis, Norseen says. The model provides us
amplified information.

Simple interaction with subjects has been used to test the system. A
researcher shows a picture to a person or asks a person to think of a number
between one and nine. Information is gathered and displayed on a monitor
much 
like on a television. It shows that the person is thinking about the number
nine. The researcher then tells the person to say the same number, an action
that appears in another part of the brain, the parietal region. By looking
at the collective data, we know that when this person thinks of the number
nine or says the number nine, this is how it appears in the brain, providing
a fingerprint, or what we call a brainprint, Norseen offers.

We are at the point where this database has been developed enough that we
can use a single electrode or something like an airport security system
where 
there is a dome above your head to get enough information that we can know
the number you're thinking, he adds. If you go to an automatic teller
machine and the sensor system is in place, you could walk away and I would
be 
able to access your personal identification code.

Norseen shares that the defense industry is interested because this type of
data is culturally independent information. Worldwide, most individuals
process certain information in the same regions of the brain.

Brainprints are unique to each person. While the number nine will appear in
the same brain areas of different people, it still occurs as a unique
signature of how a person specifically thinks of the number. Biology has the
tendency to create things that are self-similar, Norseen says. The proteins
that lay down your fingerprints are the same protein materials that lay down
the neurons of the brain, he offers.

He also has been asked by military and law enforcement agencies to show how
brainprints can be used to determine probable cause, which could be used for
an anti-terrorism situation. If someone is walking through the airport and
he goes through the security checkpoint and we get a feeling that this
person 
is preoccupied with certain numbers or certain thought types that may
indicate hostility or aggression we could ask him questions and verify the
answers. Then it gives you probable cause to say, 'Sir/Ma'am, may we step
aside with you and ask you additional questions?' It allows you to find a
problem set within a large group. Norseen is confident that if such a
system 
were fully developed it would be accepted if it meant everyone would be
safer 
at the airport gate. The data he collects may not only show probable cause
but also truth verification, he adds. The brain, which uses energy, does not
want to expend it needlessly, he says. If someone is telling the truth, it
is 
kept on the outside portion of the brain in low-energy domain areas of the

Hallucinogenic Mushrooms May Explain Santa's Flying Reindeer

Santa Claus is flying high, all right-he's high on hallucinatory mushrooms!
Such is the claim of Dr. Ian Edwards, head of education at the Royal Botanic
Gardens in Edinburgh.

During a recent seminar, Dr. Edwards recounted to the audience that the
story of flying reindeer originated with the Sami people of Lapland, one of
the oldest indigenous cultures in the world. It later spread south to
Central Europe in the 19th Century and eventually morphed into the tale
small children of the world know so well today.

In the beginning, the story was neither so wholesome nor fit for consumption
by children:

The Sami people used to feed brightly colored red and white fly-argic
mushrooms to their reindeer and then, drink the animal's urine in order to
get a more safe and processed form of the drug into their own systems. The
effect of the fly-argic mushrooms would have been similar to taking LSD.

According to Dr. Edwards, one of the likely effects of taking the drug would
have been for them to believe that they were flying with their reindeer
through space, looking down on the world below. Further, he suggests that
the red coat of Father Christmas himself may well have been inspired by the
bright color of the red mushrooms.

All of this behavior is described in a museum in Lapland and may date back
to pre-Christian times, he said-although he did allow that the practice had
diminished in recent years.

There is no word yet from Santa on how long this theory and the Press he is
giving it will move Dr. Edwards from the naughty to the nice list.

Patriots or Traitors -- That is the question

During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary

KeepAndBearArms.com -- It is commonly thought that this union of states is
one in which the truth is of utmost importance. Justice depends on truth, as
does proper governing. Once lies are entered into the equation, though, the
system breaks down into something other than the American way in which truth
and justice prevail. We are now rapidly sinking into an abyss in which
liberty will be forever lost – that is, if we do not act immediately with
extreme constitutional aggression against those who would subvert the
American Way.

It was hoped that my return from a week long deer hunt would find increased
numbers of American citizens extremely irate over the Bush Administration’s
raping of the US Constitution, that individuals and groups had united in
wiping out actions being taken against the American people and freedom. It
was even hoped that mainstream media would be presenting facts rather than
the fictions perpetrated by the Bush Administration. After all, every action
being taken by the current administration is unconstitutional, from the
military actions in foreign lands to the Patriot Act. Americans can’t remain
forever dumbed-down to this fact, regardless of the efforts by the current
administration and media lackeys of those who intend on destroying the
sovereignty of this nation and of the people themselves through fear
instilled by the government.

One posting has been found that boldly put forward in a manner befitting true
patriotism and the power of the people over the federal government. It did so
at great risk since the Patriot Act has nothing to do with patriotism but
deals instead with the creation of tyrannical control by the government. The
Tennessee League of the South has indirectly proclaimed itself a terrorist
group as now defined by the despicable Act passed recently by Congress and I,
for one, salute this organization.

First, in its 11/10/2001 message from its chairman, the Tennessee League of
the South stated its position clearly with the following:

“The Tennessee League of the South denounces the USA PATRIOT ACT of 2001 as
the worst insult to the US Constitution since the Alien and Sedition Acts of
1798. The Tennessee League of the South also charges President George W. Bush
with being a traitor worse than Benedict Arnold. Arnold attempted to turn a
fort over to the British, President Bush has turned the US Constitution on
its head by violating the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments. Congress has
joined in the treason by voting to enact the USA PATRIOT ACT. Together they
are attacking the 800 year-old heritage of American
liberty rooted in Magna Carta.”

Second, it further called upon the Governor of Tennessee and the Tennessee
legislature to denounce the Act and assert Tennessee’s constitutional
responsibility to protect Tennesseans by expelling from the state any US
official or agent who attempts to enforce any provision of the Act.

With these statements, the League is now classed as being engaged in
“domestic terrorism” since the Act defines “domestic terrorism” as
“activities that involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of
the criminal laws of the United States or of any State” or which “appear to
be intended…to influence the policy of a government.”

Please note that the Act says the “…criminal laws of the United States or of
any State” as this is important in understanding the basis for the states
expelling any US official or agent who attempts to enforce any provision of
the Act. This clearly shows that the United States is separate from the
States, both geographically and in matters of jurisdiction. In other words,
just as has been stated thousands of times by thousands of people well versed
in the Constitution and law, there is federal jurisdiction, there is state
jurisdiction, and never shall the two intertwine.

Also, without getting too complex, the term “State” when used by the
government with the intent of misleading people refers to States of the
United States, which are Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American
Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands or simply to the District of
Columbia. Without the Act to refer to, and the proper definition for State
being applied in this Act, misleading usage will prevail.

Federal jurisdiction is stated in Article I, Section 8, Clause 17. Since the
many states are not listed, nor any clause indicating federal control over
the states, the federal government hasn’t any authority to make any law
concerning the sovereign

One of the crucial elements in the Illuminati global network is, as I have been emphasizing in my books for years, the technique of "compartmentalization".   

The Illuminati structure is one of pyramids within bigger pyramids within still bigger pyramids until you reach the one that encompasses all the others. It is like Russian dolls, one inside the other.   

Look at any organization today, a bank, business, university, government, whatever, and you will see that it is structured as a compartmentalized pyramid. The person who sits behind the counter in a bank will not know what their branch manager is deciding or planning, and the manager, in turn, will not know what is happening at regional level, and they will not know what is being planned at national level, and on it goes.   

The only people who know the true plans and agenda of that bank are the handful at the top of the pyramid who know how all the innocent, individual, contributions by people employed by the bank fit together. The overwhelming majority of employees, including those in agencies like the CIA and FBI, have no idea what the big picture is because they are compartmentalized from what is going on elsewhere at their own level, let alone at higher and higher levels.   

What can seem matter of fact and innocent to an individual within the pyramid can be very much more sinister when put together with everyone else's compartmentalized contributions.   

A "bank" pyramid, for instance, is encompassed by bigger pyramids until you have one that includes the whole global banking system and at the top of that are a handful of interbreeding families going back to the far ancient world who pull the strings of global finance to suit and manipulate their own agenda.   

It is the same with governments, transnational corporations, the global media empires, the secret society network, national "security" agencies like the CIA, and so on. They are each compartmentalized on a "need to know" basis and imprisoned by bigger pyramids and at these higher levels these apparently unconnected institutions, businesses, and agencies are all the SAME organization controlled by the SAME people.   

This Illuminati structure of compartmentalized pyramids allows them to organize horrendous attacks like those in New York and Washington while those who actually hi-jacked the planes have no idea who the ultimate "Mr. Big" really is. For instance, the CIA (a mere tool and often fall guy for higher agencies) provided money and other support to the Afghan rebels and terrorist networks that eventually became the Taliban during the Soviet Union invasion.   

But the money and support was channeled through Pakistan and elsewhere and while some in Afghanistan would have known where it was coming from, the vast majority would not have known the true source, nor the nature of the global game in which they were being used as mere pawns.   

The Illuminati don't control everyone or even nearly everyone in these various organizations, they control those who control the organization. It is through these few key positions of decision-making that everyone else in the organization, the pyramid, is told what they will and will not do. It does not take many people to control the actions and policy of an organization, whatever it may be, if you control the key decision-making positions.   

So in terms of the atrocities in the United States, let's start with those who actually hi-jacked the planes. These could have been directly mind-controlled and programmed to do it, or they could have genuinely believed they were serving their religion. Probably a combination of the two. It matters not to the Illuminati, it is the outcome they are interested in.   

The hi-jackers would have answered to a network or what they believed were the actual organizers. But from that point they would have lost track of the power game that was playing them like a violin. Who controlled what the hi-jackers believed was their support and organizational network? They have no idea.   

The Illuminati do not represent a "side" or a "faction". They CREATE the "sides" and the "factions" and they use them to manipulate the game of divide and rule and centralization of global power. They operate within the Islamic world as they operate within the "western world".   

So as the bigger pyramids envelope the smaller pyramids you reach a point in the structure where the same force is manipulating and organizing the horrors in America while also manipulating and organizing the RESPONSE to those horrors through their puppets such as Bush, Cheney, Powell, and Blair.

So Bill Shannon I have read much on this man from time to time, and I
only know this - to get in the Green Berets, you have to go the
gauntlet.

Think he is getting older, and went through a typicial male mid age
crisis; for where is an older soldier to go?

Look at his medals?   They do not come easy.   My brother in law was
Joint Chief of Staff and CIA (was under Vandenberg first) and he had
many medals which he kept mostly hidden away.   He was one of many
heros.

These men like General Walker and General Robert E Lee, USAF (not the
Civil War General) - some of these men turned sharply to the right for
they knew something was happening from within.

When you hit bird Colonel you keep your mouth shut..Anything under
that, you might be able to express a few views but Lee and Walker got
into trouble and contacted my brother in law for help while he was in
England as Thor Chief - he thought they had mental breakdowns.

If so what caused it for General Lee was often a house guest - and
during that time frame Life Magazine had called him the Air Force most
valuable man..he was much loved.

What was that old line - Old Soldiers Never die they are just supposed
to fade away

What is an old soldier to do these days after he has given all to his
country only to see god damned bastardds like this son of a bitich
Abraham Foxman then dare to downgrade a man like Bo Gritz?

This Foxman is a blackmailer and what amounts to a liar and a thief who
takes bribes and associates with organized crime and he has spread some
stories about Bo Gritz with malicious intent.

Doubt Gritz would give a damn for again this is a real man not a limp

Paris Reporters Say Bush Threatened War Last Summer

Far from the American media machine, two French authors have released a report outlining U.S. attempts to finesse the issue of Osama bin Laden long before Al Qaeda struck on September 11. Based on extensive firsthand reporting, Jean-Charles Brisard and Guillaume Dasquié write in their book, Bin Laden: The Forbidden Truth, that the Bush administration went so far as to consider waging war against Afghanistan's ruling Taliban last summer. Brisard and Dasquié argue the U.S. cared more about getting access to the region's oil than about getting the head of Osama bin Laden. 

Now thousands of U.S. citizens are dead and Al Qaeda is on the run. Dasquié tells the Voice he doubts the group will last "more than a few weeks." The journalist describes bin Laden's military leaders as mostly former members of the Egyptian special forces who joined with the Saudi exile in 1992 and 1993 during fighting in Sudan. Al Qaeda commanders and troops are "the military product of a religious deviance," he says, warning that ending the network "won't solve anything because the Saudi charities and other organizations tied to the clerics will go on pumping out the money. The problem is their fundamentalism." 

Brisard, who has run Vivendi International's economic intelligence service, prepared the West's first report on Al Qaeda back in 1997, at the request of the French government. Along with Dasquié, he now argues the FBI's efforts to get to the bottom of bin Laden's terror outfit—which bombed two American embassies in Africa in 1998—were blocked by the Saudi royal family and the big oil companies, which were hungry for the region's crude reserves. 

The FBI press office had no comment on the book, and the State Department has steadily denied having any negotiations with the Taliban, which had no diplomatic standing in the U.S. But the two authors think highly of the FBI agents who were working on counterterrorism, saying they often had excellent informants. 

That's not to say progress was great. When an FBI agent would turn up to do an interview, the Saudis would step in with their own bizarre behavior. "We uncovered incredible things," Dasquié tells the Voice. "Investigators would arrive to find that key witnesses they were about to interrogate had been beheaded the day before." In the end, he says, the West "always considered Saudi Arabia as a partner that we absolutely and systematically had to protect." 

The book also reveals a portrait of U.S. policy toward the Taliban that differs sharply from the one usually held up for the American public but coincides with that of the Taliban's unofficial emissary in the U.S., Laili Helms, the niece of the former CIA head (see "The Accidental Operative," Voice, June 19, 2001). Helms described one incident after another in which, she claimed, the Taliban agreed to give up bin Laden to the U.S., only to be rebuffed by the State Department. On one occasion, she said, the Taliban agreed to give the U.S. coordinates for his campsite, leaving enough time so the Yanks could whack Al Qaeda's leader with a missile before he moved. The proposal, she claims, was nixed. The State Department denied receiving any such offer. 

Helms also related an incident when Prince Turki, then the head of Saudi intelligence, flew to Kabul to negotiate bin Laden's arrest. Turki, according to Helms's account of the story, wanted bin Laden murdered on Afghan soil. If he were killed there, then the Saudi royal family needn't face the embarrassment of airing their dirty linen in an open trial. The Taliban refused, and Turki returned home empty-handed. 

Brisard and Dasquié characterize the U.S. as playing a clumsy footsie with the Taliban, with diplomacy unfolding in a series of bizarre fits and starts. By the late 1990s, the writers claim, diplomacy was run on different levels. One channel went from the UN Security Council to Kabul. Meanwhile, the State Department conducted its own bilateral negotiations. From the start, the U.S. favored a sort of covert support for the Taliban, in hopes that sooner or later the one-eyed Supreme Leader Mullah Mohammed Omar could be prevailed upon to break ties with bin Laden so the West could get on with its pipeline and other business interests. 

However, this approach came to a screaming halt in September 1997, when European Union commissioner Emma Bonino paid an official visit to Kabul, where the Taliban arrested her for filming the conditions in a women's hospital. Their outrageous actions made it difficult for the West to appear at all friendly with the Taliban. In reality, since they had all the power in this Stalinized regime, nobody ever stopped dealing with them. It's just that the trail became more submerged. Hope you had a merry Christmas – 'cause it's gonna be a Satanic new year

My last New Year's column contained a statement that stands out, in retrospect, as a prediction and a warning that, unfortunately, went unheeded. America, I wrote,
"Stands astride the world, a global Gulliver lording it over the Lilliputians. But at the apogee of its power, the US is subject to the irony of world hegemony – increased vulnerability."

SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES

Little did I know how vulnerable. Like most Americans, I never imagined that, less than a year later, we would all be staring in disbelief at the smoking ruins of the Pentagon – and a good part of downtown Manhattan.  But I knew something was amiss: "In the coming year," I predicted, "the profiteers of empire will be especially busy selling the whole panoply of 'good works' the US is performing overseas," especially in "the Middle East, where we are ostensibly fighting another bogey of the modern world, 'terrorism.' Whether the American people are buying it is another question."


OVER THE HORIZON

Well, if they weren't buying it before, now they certainly are – and with a vengeance. As the US goes rampaging through Central Asia in search of Osama bin Laden and his Terrorist International, the War Party has been given a blank check – and they're diddling over how much to make it out for. But you didn't have to be a certified seer, a Nostradamus or a Jean Dixon, to see what was coming over the horizon. Reiterating the Clintonian record – a new military intervention every few months – I wrote:
"These days, the brazen belligerence of the US goes way beyond arrogance and all the way to hubris, the old Greek conception of a pride so overweening that it literally begs to be toppled, like Icarus felled for daring to approach the sun."


ICARUS UNREPENTANT

Yet Icarus hasn't learned his lesson. Still reaching for that bright orb, he doesn't realize he's been blinded. Lashing out, he stumbles about in the darkness, bellowing like a wounded giant, and wreaking devastation across the globe. Already the ripple effect caused by the US military campaign has caused disruption throughout the region, with India moving quickly to destabilize Pakistan. The nutball Hindu nationalists who hold sway in New Delhi have recently acquired a cache of new weapons from Israel – and don't think they won't use them.


A WARNING

India and Israel have a lot in common: not only a mutual hatred of Islam, but also an expressed willingness to use nuclear weapons. It was not for nothing, after all, that Israel recently admitted what it has always officially denied (even though everyone knew the story of Mordecai Vanunu): yes, they have nukes. But why admit this now, at the height of the crisis, unless it is meant as a warning that they won't hesitate to use them?


THE BRAHMIN BOMB

On the other side of the Middle East, New Delhi's Brahmins are wielding the nuclear stick more openly, explicitly threatening Pakistan with the unthinkable. At issue is the Vale of Kashmir, a section of Central Asia so mountainous and inaccessible that it makes the terrain of Afghanistan look like a golf course. India has always claimed it, in spite of its overwhelmingly Muslim population. If India allowed a real national referendum, Kashmir would doubtless go with Pakistan, but New Delhi's "Great Power" conceit would never permit that, and so the region has been in a constant state of war since the partition of India and Pakistan more than 50 years ago.


IMPERIAL INDIA

From this lair of Islamic "terrorism," various Islamic tribes and groups have launched attacks on India proper, and the Brahmins, asserting their regional hegemony, have decided to follow the good example of the United States in pursuing "terrorism" to its source. Since the Indians aver – without offering any proof – that the terrorist attacks have been organized and directed by Islamabad, and that these groups are little more than proxies for Pakistan, in effect a de facto state of war already exists between the two nuclear-armed nations. And the conflict is rapidly spreading….


THE RIPPLE EFFECT

The news that China has moved its troops up to the border with India should have hit the headlines like a thunderclap. The dominoes are falling fast, and even rippling outward to the edge of the world, where North Korea – starving, desperate, and demented – teeters on the brink. The "mystery ship" that invaded Japanese waters and was sunk by the Japanese Defense Force sent shockwaves through Japan, and globalized this perilous moment.


ON THE BRINK

Are we standing on the brink of World War III? It all depends on just how crazy are the Hindu nationalists who rule an increasingly bizarre and militant India. Part 1 The Hypnotic Foot Grenade - Strange Case Of The Loaded Shoe 

Passengers have learned to accept the unorthodox on airliners nowadays, from sky marshals idly twiddling with their Glock semi automatic pistols, to bottles of free champagne designed to restore your good humor if the sky marshal accidentally squeezes the trigger and shoots you instead of a hijacker. But hey, you asked for it really didnít you? Slashing away at your steak on an aircraft with a plastic knife, is nowadays grounds for lawful homicide.

But what if you decide to change your routine for a while, and do something unexpected though perfectly legal. Say, for example, you decide to light a sulfur-based match and wave it around near your own shoe. Remember, lighting a match on an airliner is perfectly legal until the precise point at which the flame comes into contact with a banned and lethal (sic) Lucky Strike or Marlboro cigarette. What then? Will the sky marshal shoot you full of holes on mere suspicion of random guilt, or will you simply be treated like any other bored and eccentric passenger on the flight?

Recent events on American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to Miami indicate that if you try any such thing, you will be beaten to the floor by a bunch of furious passengers, tied to a seat in row 27, then be heavily "sedated" by two doctors who just happen to be on the same American Airlines flight. This is exactly what happened to a man on board Flight 63, despite the fact he did not suddenly shout "I have a bomb and youíre all going to die!" In fact the man did not say anything until long after he was wrestled to the floor, whereupon he apparently muttered "Youíll see. Just you wait and see." Despite the FBI trying to attach all kinds of sinister implications to this statement, a more likely explanation is that the man was probably referring to the legal suit he intended to take out against the barbarians who suddenly mishandled him.

The man, identified far too quickly by the FBI as Richard Colvin Reid a.k.a. Tariq Rajah a.k.a. Abdel Rahim, boarded Flight 63 quietly enough at Paris Charles de Gaulle, took his seat and later ate his in-flight meal. Then Richard (letís call him Richard for now), lit his sulfur-based match and the sky suddenly fell on his head. Why? From the passenger viewpoint there was absolutely no evidence that Richard was a potential "suicide bomber", nor any visible evidence that he was armed with anything more dangerous than a sulfur-based match.

Ask yourself a simple question here. Would you as a normal passenger on a normal airliner recognise a covert terrorist weapon concealed in someone's shoe, then raise the alarm? Of course not. Most airline passengers are not anti-terrorist specialists and would have no idea what they were looking at. Perhaps the man had some chewing gum stuck to the sole of his shoe? Few travellers watching the free in-flight movie would take it any further than that.

We know from his fellow passengers that Richard said nothing at all, which means that in order to generate the required and resulting extreme level of activity and panic, someone else sitting near him must have quietly told the cabin crew that Richard had a bomb. There is no other possible explanation. The next question is whether or not Richard actually knew he had a bomb in his shoe, and whether or not the alleged bomb was actually armed.

Remember, all we know for certain at this stage is that Richard allegedly had a bomb in his shoe, and the FBI has stated that the bomb in question was an "improvised" device consisting of a combination of det cord and C-4 grade plastic explosive, where the det cord was the "fuze" and the C-4 the "main charge". But how could the FBI have possibly known this so quickly? Det cord looks very much like the white plastic washing line you hang in your garden, and C-4 plastic explosive looks and smells very similar to the less powerful C-3 and Semtex varieties. To be sure of the materials, a full chemical analysis would be required, or the FBI must have known the exact chemical composition of the materials in advance of the incident.

The most critical point here is that neither Richard nor his assumed minder had a detonator cap. Thus for the following reasons, there was less than a one-percent chance of the alleged bomb exploding. As already stated, det cord (known to most as "Cordex"), looks like white plastic washing line with a black core. Though a high explosive in its own right, Cordex needs a detonator to initiate an explosion. If you light the end of a piece of Cordex with a match it will start to melt, and eventually drip all over the floor. A welding torch might have more disastrous results, so please do NOT try this at home!

The C-4 plastic explosive, known intimately to everyone who has ever watched a Steven Segal movie, is one of the most overrated explosives of our time. Sure it is far

Sorry guy. He's tied in with the neo-Nazi fascists. I'm Jewish and I don't like his antisemitism which is what New Age --Nazism is about. I know his line which is...it isn't all the Jews, just the Jew who run things...line. He never does explain the dividing line between Jews who run things and Jews in general. Any Christian who belives his line better understand that New Age people hate Christians as much as they hate Jews. They can't bring in the New Age of Aquarius while the Age of Pisces Chrstians and the Age of Aries Jews are still around. Are you so blind that you don't see the parallel between the New Age and Nazi lines that says Jews run everything? 

Once in power, New Age leadership doesn't like those who actually think about what is happening. You, Bill, are someone who challenges establishment. When you are no longer useful, you are toast.
