Possibly so. Phil Zimmermann, of course, still claims that it would take
supercomputers several months to crack the code, but after I heard about
that new computer that was built to run atmospheric simulations, I'm
starting to wonder what actually defines a supercomputer. Compared to my
old TRS-80 Color Computer with 16k of RAM, this Athlon 1200 MHz with 256
megs of RAM is a supercomputer. Over in Europe, Sun Microsystems built a
computer with the RAM that equates to 11,000 CD-ROM's. Nearly 7 Terabytes
of RAM, that is. This computer is going to be used to try to figure out
exactly what happened in the process of evolution.

As for this atmospheric meteorlogical simulator, I don't remember how much
RAM it has -- I think they said 11 Terabytes, or they packed enough CPU's in
it to make it run at a clock speed of 11 Terahertz. I watch TechTV all the
time, so when I see the report again, I'll respond here and update the
thread.

Anyway, seems like with a computer that fast, it wouldn't take very long to
crack a PGP key. And I think all these new versions of PGP probaby have a
master key held by the government. I remember a few years back, the
government was S concerned about people encrypting the e-mail they were
probably reading left and right, so they came up with this plan to have all
PGP users private keys held in escrow and with a court order, the FBI and
other law enforcement agencies could use a warrant to obtain a copy of your
private key and decrypt your e-mails. Needless to say, privacy advocates
and PGP users were in an uproar.

Now notice that recently they relaxed the laws against exporting encryption
technologies outside the United States. Why? I imagine that not only do
they now have all our private keys, not even held in escrow, but sitting on
their hard drives so they can access our e-mail without probably cause, but
they also have a computer fast enough to crack PGP encryption keys in a
matter of minutes.

Phil Zimmermann says that we can always increase the encryption strength of
our keys, which is a lot easier and cheaper to do than building a more
powerful computer to crack it. But even in 1994 we had 2048-bit keys, and
maybe even earlier. Nowadays the most I've heard of is 4096-bit keys. In
1993 about the fastest consumer-grade PC you could buy was something like a
Pentium 60 and maybe a Pentium 75. Now you can get a Pentium IV running at
1800 MHz. We should be using at LEAST 131,072-bit keys to keep the same
relative strength of encryption that we had back then. But while computer
speeds have increased nearly 20-fold, our PGP keys are only twice as strong.

Yep... it's been cracked. Privacy is an illusion.

[CTRL] Privacy Not

2001-07-31 Thread tribalzidane

Perhaps with all the concerns about wiretaps, e-mail snooping and the like,
this might be a nice place to encourage the use of PGP encryption. It would
be kind of like sticking our e-mails in a lockbox that only we can open.
Only thing is... how do we know an "informant" is not among us. I dunno...
Maybe it's not even worth trying. It's not like we're conspiring to
overthrow the government or anything. We're just discussing things that the
government would probably prefer that we not even know about.

Thing is, though, if enough people use PGP, the government would spend so
much time straining their computers to crack the codes of e-mails that it
might make e-mail snooping something that's not worth doing anymore.

Might cause a mess, though... Does the list get a PGP key? Do we all share
our keys with each other? Plus we'd have to type in a passphrase for every
e-mail. But is it any more inconvenient than opening an envelope?

Well, it's as sound a theory as many others I've read about. :-)

I can only imagine how many people might be gay if it were not for society
condemning it so and virtually forcing boys to be men and girls to be
ladies. Some countries execute homosexuals.

Oh? And how do you suppose we do that? Apparently whatever we're doing is
not working. Rights are still eroding all the time. There are victories,
like the recent ruling saying that cops can't fly over your house to peek
inside your home with high tech gear to see if you've got lots of grow
lights on in your house. I don't need to remind you of the boiling frog
analogy. The point is, we're all aware of what's happening, but the average
Joe Blow is not. Joe Blow is going to recline in his lazy boy with a beer
in one hand and his sausage in the other until one day he wakes up and
realizes that it's too late. Then there will be an overthrow of the
government.

Abolishing all the current people in office might do the trick. Send in
some people to take over. Of course, conspiring to do this is illegal...
but that's not going to stop it, of course. But it's governments like the
one currently in place that seems to eventually result in beheadings.

I don't know why nobody can agree on a single approach. I think that's one
of the things the powers in place know. Each person is unique, yes... but
at the root of the issue is the need for change. I think eventually, once

Martial law. Tienneman Square. The Holocaust.

Question is...what comes next? What is the segue going to be? I wonder if
we're heading to a time of a major abolishment of the few remaining freedoms
we have. I'm thinking we are. It's one of those rock bottom things, kind
of like alcoholics having to hit "rock bottom" before they can see the light
and turn things around. Probably society will have to hit rock bottom
before the cat is cornered and it starts hissing and fighting. It's just a
matter of compromises. There is a power in place that wants more and more
control, so lawyers battle it out in court and a compromise takes place.
Later there is another compromise as someone, somewhere wants more control,
so we compromise again, each time giving up a little more freedom.

The sad part is that there is little I can do about it by myself. There is
little we can do, even collectively, as members of this mailing list because

If you've never been to Washington DC, there are a few farces I thought you
might like to see. Seeing these things made me angry because it made me
realize that all the monuments and memorials around Washington DC are the
biggest joke in the United States. They might as well tear these things
down because it's awfully depressing to walk through these things. I don't
think the government really holds any of these things true.

The FDR images are from the Franklin Delano Roosevelt section and the MEM
images are from a particular area... I don't remember what it was called,
but in the top right corner of the MEM images I pasted a small picture of
the outside of the building. You will probably recognize it.

There are five images which I compressed a lot to make the file sizes
smaller. If you want higher quality versions of these images, contact me.
They won't be any larger in dimensions, but they will be less compressed.
If you want the full, uncropped and rather large images, please mention it
in the e-mail or I'm sending the smaller, but less compressed copy.

Pictures were taken with a Fuji disposable camera and burned onto CD's by
the photo lab.

[CTRL] Canada Moves Toward Legalizing Pot

2001-06-04 Thread tribalzidane

-Caveat Lector-

Source: aol://4344:30.L100al01.5293796.675534523

Canada Moves Toward Legalizing Pot

By TOM COHEN .c The Associated Press

TORONTO (AP) - The Friendly Stranger used to be up a narrow stairway in
a back room, a crowded little shop offering water pipes, T-shirts and
other products of the cannabis - or marijuana - culture.

Now proprietor Robin Ellins has a prominent storefront on busy Queen
Street and plenty of room to display everything from hempseed oil and
chips to a full line of hemp clothing and elaborate smoking accessories.

The transformation from hidden emporium to thriving commercial venture
is part of Canada's slow but clear shift toward decriminalizing
marijuana.

Justice Minister Anne McLellan says the issue should be studied, and a
new Parliament committee on drug matters will look at decriminalization.
Conservative Party leader Joe Clark is urging the elimination of
criminal penalties for possessing a small amount of pot.

``It's unjust to see someone, because of one decision one night in their
youth, carry the stigma - to be barred from studying medicine, law,
architecture or other fields where a criminal record could present an
obstacle,'' Clark said last week.

The government has proposed expanding medicinal use of marijuana, and
the Canadian Medical Association Journal recently supported full
decriminalization. Canada's Supreme Court will consider a case this
year that contends criminal charges for the personal use of marijuana
violate constitutional rights.

Making possession and use of small amounts of marijuana a civil offense
- akin to a traffic fine- instead of a criminal violation would move
Canadian policy closer to attitudes in The Netherlands and away from the
United States, its neighbor and biggest trade partner.

That worries U.S. anti-drug activists like Robert Maginnis of the Family
Research Council. ``It will have a residual effect in this country of
depressing prices and making marijuana more available,'' he said.

He also knows a shift by Canada would boost the arguments of American
advocates for easing U.S. drug laws. ``We find our allies are piling up
on us and making it more difficult'' to fight drug use, Maginnis said.

Joseph A. Califano Jr., president of the National Center on Addiction
and Substance Abuse at Columbia University, is skeptical about that.

Califano, a former U.S. secretary of health and human services, said
increasing medical evidence on the harm caused by marijuana makes it
unlikely that a change in Canadian law will affect U.S. policy. ``I
don't think it means much,'' he said.

Canada already has a legal industry for hemp - cannabis cultivated with
very low amounts of the chemical that produces the high sought by
marijuana smokers - while the U.S. federal government prohibits hemp
production.

In April, Canadian Health Minister Allan Rock proposed expanding the
medicinal use of marijuana beyond cancer sufferers now allowed to take
the drug to people with AIDS and other terminal illnesses, severe
arthritis, multiple sclerosis, spinal injuries and epilepsy. By
contrast, the U.S. Supreme Court recently upheld a federal ban on
medical marijuana.

Some U.S. states allow hemp production and medical use of marijuana,
despite the federal bans, noted Bill Zimmerman, executive director of
the Campaign for New Drug Policies in California.

Arrest statistics show the disparity in the two nation's approaches.

Richard Garlick of the Canadian Center on Substance Abuse said about
25,000 people were arrested in Canada for simple possession of marijuana
in 1999.

The U.S. figure for that year under the ``zero tolerance'' policy of the
U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration was 24 times higher, exceeding
600,000, says the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws
in Washington. The U.S. population is about eight times that of
Canada's.

``Thank God, I'm in Canada,'' said Ellins, a long-haired entrepreneur
who gives his age as thirtysomething. ``I just can't believe what's
going on down there. ... That's a war against people.''

Believing decriminalization was inevitable in socially liberal Canada,
he moved his store to a larger, more public setting last year. It's
named for the ``friendly stranger'' cited in 1930s anti-marijuana
propaganda as the supplier of ``reefer madness.''

Police leave him alone, because the store avoids anything considered
drug paraphernalia, he said.

``Before it was too compact and tucked away,'' Ellins said. ``There's
definitely been an increase in business. We're more accessible. We're
more in demand.''

[CTRL] Oil Drilling in the National Wildlife Refuge - Who Owns the Mineral Rights?

2001-05-19 Thread tribalzidane

-Caveat Lector-

Who owns the land in the National Wildlife Refuge? More specifically, who
owns the mineral rights (royalties) on the land? Whoever this person (or
corporation (or government)) is stands to make tons of money when oil is
produced. Any knowledge on this? Keep in mind that it's possible for one
person to own the land, while another person owns the stuff that's
underneath, like natural gas, oil and whatnot. The government might own the
land, but an individual or corporation might own the rights to the minerals
underneath.

[CTRL] US Government's View on Ancient Practices?

2001-05-16 Thread tribalzidane

-Caveat Lector-

I just heard a news story about the "energy crisis". Here are the exact
words of one question asked by Brit Hume of Fox News field reporter Jim
Angle, concering how long it's taking to get geothermal plants approved in
northern California:

Brit: What is the reasoning behind those delays in approving the
   renewable plants?

Jim Angle: Well, there aren't many environmental concerns because it's
natural, geothermal energy. One of the problems at one of these sites
was that snowmobilers were complaining that a geothermal energy plant
might cause noise pollution. But one of the main reasons, and the
reason cited by the Clinton Administration energy department in not
approving it was that one tribe of Indians out of three (two gave their
approval) had people who went out for what's called "vision quests" in
this area. Hard to do with snowmobilers. Nevertheless, the Department
of Energy under the Clinton Administration told the geothermal people
that their project was not politically correct because these six
Indians, these six Native Americans, went out on vision quests. Again,
this is in an area where snowmobilers have two permanent camps.

Herbs are often used in vision quests, are they not?

Okay, so now we know that (a) those snowmobilers are hypocrites since
snowmobiles are noisy themselves, and (b) our government laughs at the
practices of the Indians. Nice. :-\

-Caveat Lector-

All times listed are Central Daylight Time.

Programming is only available in America, unless you can get these channels where you
live, basically meaning, check to see if you can get this programming before watching
it. :-/

Channels listed as airing on PBS-X are for Direct Broadcast Satellite, which airs 24
hours after it airs for cable and over-the-air viewers. So check to see if it airs a
day ahead in your listings.

Many of these programs may have multiple airtimes on the same evening. Usually all
the Discovery channels (The Learning Channel, Civilization, Science, Wings, Travel
Channel etc...) and the A&E owned channels (History Channel, History Channel
Interntational, Biography Channel) run the same block of three hours of programming
from 7pm to 10pm CDT, and then again from 10pm to 1am CDT, and some programs repeat
throughout the overnight hours and at times during the following afternoon. Check
your listings for that because since many of these listings are added manually, it
saves a lot of time to just list the prime time airings.

On another list I subscribe to, someone recently "nagged me" about posting a daily

get it." Well, there was only one person who asked to be unsubscribed, and who knew
what the reason was. Far be it for me to terrorize people with my horrid posts. I
decided to create a couple of mailing lists specifically for the purpose of
terrorizing you all with my daily program listings, though I may regret it because as
I said, I may burn out on it one day so the listings may stop coming. Of course, if I
get thousands of subscribers, I may end up with such a large base as to make quiting a
incidence of guilt. Nevertheless, I live in the now, so here goes. You can either
get the listings only, or you can get the listings on a list which is open for others
to post their comments about the programs:

To receive the listings in a forum which is open for discussions about the programs,

To receive the listings on a newsletter list on which there will be no discussions
(only the listings themselves), send a blank e-mail to:

give people a few days to subscribe to the lists unless I'm flamed too much for it.

[CTRL] U.S. loses seat on U.N. drug policy committee

2001-05-08 Thread tribalzidane

-Caveat Lector-

   First, my editorial:

U. S. loses seat on U.N. drug policy committee

The Associated Press

UNITED NATIONS (AP) In another embarrassing blow, the United States lost its
seat on an international drug monitoring body on the same day it was voted
off the U.N. Human Rights Commission, U.S. officials confirmed Monday.

The United States had campaigned for a third term for American
representative Herbert Okun, who has served as vice president on the
International Narcotics Control Board. But he was voted off Thursday in the
same secret-ballot procedure and by the same countries that cost the United
States its seat on the human rights commission.

"That, we find, very regrettable," U.S. State Department spokesman Richard
Boucher said in Washington on Monday. He said the United States would
continue its "strong support" for the U.N. anti-drug programs.

The 13-member International Narcotics Control Board monitors compliance with
U.N. drug conventions on substance abuse and illegal trafficking.

Seven countries Iran, Brazil, India, Peru, France, Netherlands and Austria
were elected to the board Thursday. China, Russia, Nigeria, Turkey, Mexico
and Chile complete their current terms in 2005.

Boucher would not speculate as to why Okun lost re-election but, coupled
with the loss of the human rights seat, he said "there's something happening
out there."

"Clearly, I think it's fair to speculate there may be issues related to how
we handled ourselves, to how we position," he said.

Former U.S. drug policy director Barry McCaffrey said American's absence
would be felt more by other countries than by the United States.

"It's a great loss to the international community to not have us in a
leadership position. We play a dominant role in the research and
development of drug treatment programs in the world," said McCaffrey, who
used to head the Office of National Drug Control Policy in Washington.

"The assistance that we are able to provide the United Nations, the
Europeans and former Soviet Union states could be adversely affected,"
McCaffrey told AP.

The 54-member U.N. Economic and Social Council, the main U.N. body
responsible for economic and social issues, cast secret ballots Thursday
that led to the U.S. ouster from the narcotics board and the Human Rights
Commission. The human rights vote spurred calls by some U.S. lawmakers to
withhold $582 million in back dues for the United Nations and $67 million to
rejoin UNESCO 17 years after the United States left over concerns about
political polarization.

"We've put time and energy and money and leadership into these international
(drug) programs," McCaffrey said, adding that another strike at the United
States could "add to the sentiment in Congress that would say, `Why should
we support regional or multinational U.N. operations?' "

The 70-year-old Okun served as deputy U.S. ambassador to the United Nations
from 1985 to 1989 and has been on the narcotics board since 1992.

In the corridors at the United Nations, diplomats and U.N. officials said
after the human rights defeat that the United States didn't lobby hard
enough. The absence of a U.S. ambassador to the United Nations for nearly
four months has exacerbated the problem.

Many nations including the United States' European allies are angry at the
Bush administration's decision to pull out of an agreement to reduce global
warming and to move ahead with a new missile defense system. President Bush
has also refused to ratify the treaty creating an international criminal
court and the U.S. Senate refused to ratify the nuclear test ban treaty.

U. N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, asked about the U.S. ouster from the
Human Rights Commission, said Monday that "member states, particularily
those who have been very strongly supportive of the international criminal
court, have been disappointed by the U.S. not coming on board."

The drug control board deals with aspects of legal and illegal drug control,
including monitoring government controls over chemicals used in the illicit
manufacture of drugs.

It also assists in preventing diversion of those chemicals into illicit
traffic and identifies weaknesses in drug control systems.

[CTRL] Adding Another Dimension for Every Big Bang that has Ever Happened

2001-04-25 Thread tribalzidane

-Caveat Lector-

Here's a theory I've tossed around. First of all, it's highly possible that
creation is never complete and never will be. My theory accounts for God,
evolution, the big bang and the big crunch, as well as the new age ascension
beliefs.

First of all, the physical universe started as a big bang. The most
powerful force of gravity in the universe still exists at its center and
that gravitational force is still a constant pull on the universe, even at
its farthest reaches, no matter how weak it is.

One day, the physical universe will begin shrinking again. I think that at
the point where the universe reaches its maximum size and begins shriveling
up again, things will start to change more quickly. When this will happen,
or even whether it's already happened is anybody's guess. Astronomers are
claiming that the universe is still expanding and is actually speeding up
instead of slowing down, as they believed it would. But how can they really
know that the universe is expanding at this very moment? They can't. The
data they're receiving about the edge of the known universe have taken eons
to get here. The universe may already be contracting and we simply can't
observe this yet. The universe may have been contracting for hundreds of
thousands of years. Still, it's current state is irrelevant for this
discussion.

There is no doubt that most people believe that there is more to reality
than meets the eye. 95% of the people in the world believe in a superior
entity or force of some kind or another. Some call it God, and others
simply call it the universe, First Cause or universal force. I believe that
there is a force that is playing a passive role in our evolution. I say
passive in that I don't believe a higher force is guiding us or making
decisions about the course of evolution in any way.

I do believe that we slithered out of the swamps as a slimy "thing" who only
knew how to consume and leave behind waste. I believe in chance mutations
which cause evolution to go one way or the other. Conditions on Earth
allowed for humans as we know them today. Our slithering out of the oceans
does not disqualify the fact that we might have been seeded by an alien
race, or that we might be descendants of microbes from an asteroid that hit
the earth. When looking at the universe as a whole, these facts do not
matter.

Now we have progressed far enough to have a real imagination. People have
had experiences in their lives that reach beyond what we see as solid
reality. As schizophrenics, I believe many of us have tapped deeply into
these higher realities, as have many non-schizophrenics on a lighter level.
Already we know that how one thinks about life can affect their health
psychosomatically. Someone can believe so strongly that they're being
wounded by evil spirits that real wounds actually appear on their bodies.
The point is that we know now that our thoughts play a powerful role in our
lives and show that we are than meat and bones -- that our consciousness has
some power over our lives.

The crux of my theory is that these higher dimensions may be previous
universes -- previous creations which started as big bangs and ended in big
crunches, but before the conclusion of the big crunch, the consciousness of
people who lived in the previous universal cycle all ascended lest they be
destroyed, which was probably impossible. This also takes into account the
idea of Hell Fire, and the idea that Hell and Death are swallowed up in
victory as we see the Kingdom of God realized. What better way to swallow
up death and Hell than with a big crunch, and how hot would it be to a soul
in a big crunch, where all the universe is compacted into a space the size
of a pinhead (or a quarter, as some scientists have suggested). Once there
is another big bang, the previous universe will have ceased to exist in the
way we see it today. That universe will then be the fourth dimension and
what is now the fourth dimension will be the fifth.

If it is possible for the fourth dimension to communicate with the third
dimensional world, then naturally, the fourth dimension is aware that they
are nearing the time when they will ascend to the fifth dimension. Perhaps
the reason much of this knowledge is coming out is because they are helping
us ascend so they may ascend. Of course, their ascension from 4D to 5D is
guaranteed, as is our ascension from 3D to 4D. Whether we work feverishly
or relax and let it happen, the results will be the same -- the irresistible
desire to know more will eventually take hold and we will be open to the
experience.

But it seems like there should be some turning point, like perhaps the point
where the universe turns around and starts contracting again. It seems like
that would be the point at which things really start to get interesting. The
ancient Mayans believed that time here was finite and that after a certain
date, there would be no more need for a calendar, since tha

Rep. Blumenauer: SUPPORTS "WAR" ON YOU!
along with gov't abuse and waste

THE WAR ON YOU SCOREBOARD
(as of: 4/20/2001, Oregon)
   Supports Drug War?
US Rep. David Wu YES
US Rep. Earl BlumenauerYES
US Sen. Gordon Smith ?
US Sen. Ron Wyden ?

Now among the drug war fascists, such as David Wu, add US Representative
Earl Blumenauer of the 3rd Congressional District of Oregon. Like Wu, a
friendly fascist who is proud of his determination to protect you from
yourself. Even if it means killing you or stealing your rights, your
freedom and your property. He's happy to keep drugs on playgrounds so your
kids can easily get them. And of course he continues throwing billions of
your tax dollars at a thus far unanalyzed, unjustified prohibition.

That's the bottom line on Earl Blumenauer folks. Yet another crafty
politician but certainly no leader, no friend of the poor or minorities. He
obviously does not want our votes in Nov. 2002.

But we all knew that right? Well you may have thought you knew, but if you
recall it was the League's "Drug Peace Delegation," who 30 days ago was the
first to ask Rep. Blumenauer the central question: DRUG WAR, OR DRUG PEACE?
So it was really never official. Until now. Thanks to JT, Cloi, Crystal,
Cory, Reta and little Codie, brave heroes for "Drug Peace!"

So where were you? Perhaps you may not have been notified? Portland's
press and media could not be bothered with reporting something so
insignificant as law makers encouraging government's "war" on their own
people. For weeks notices have been going out almost daily, to among
others, The Oregonian, The Portland Tribune, Willamette Week, The Rocket,
The Mercury, The Portland Observer, The Skanner, The Alliance, even the
Oregon Peace Worker, radio and TV of course. Please make inquires and find
out why the Drug Peace Vigils are being ignored. (Contact info. follows.)

In the next 2 weeks the delegation shall conclude this first phase of the
Drug Peace Vigil. On Friday we return to Senator Gordon Smith, followed by
Sen. Ron Wyden the week after. The question to both remains: DRUG WAR, OR
DRUG PEACE?

Recently it has been suggested by one influential Oregon activist that she
does not believe these vigils are "effective." Perhaps she is right and as
I have stated repeatedly it all depends on YOU. Understand that for
everyone who participates in these actions the Congressman and Senators know
it means there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of their constituents who
agree with us. Can you imagine the impact of 100 peaceful people descending
upon Sen. Gordon Smith, silently yet clearly demanding Drug Peace? In the
end even that may not change his mind, but it will certainly give him and
his cohorts pause for thought come Nov. 2002. Remember WE can not create a
movement without moving. It is much easier to dismiss 5 or 6 anti-drug war
zealots such as myself. But if we can put 100 or more citizens on their
doorstep, then these guys will know we are influencing thousands of voters.
Please keep that in mind. Please do something to help end the drug war as
often as you can until we achieve a real and lasting "Drug Peace!" Accept
no substitutes, everything else are symptomatic by-products.

-Caveat Lector-

The first internet-vote, ever, on the question of legalization of
cannabis use in prohibiton-ridden Iceland, is running at:

http://www.strik.is/frettir/pressan/

You find the voting box at the right of the side, with the word kannabis
in the text, Já = Yes, nei = no. The prohibitionists are over for the
moment (about 42% Yes and 58% no)

Please help our friends of cannabis in Iceland! :-)

We really shouldn't think of ourselves as interfering in the politics of
other countries. If they want globalization, let's give it to them.
Besides, with more countries softening the laws or legalizing marijuana,
more pressure will be put on the USA to change its ways.

[CTRL] How The US Government Created The 'Drug Problem' In The USA

2001-04-21 Thread tribalzidane

-Caveat Lector-

Bibliography is at the end of the document...where it belongs, naturally...

   How The US Government Created
The 'Drug Problem' In The USA
By Michael E. Kreca
http://www.lewrockwell.com/or ig/kreca1.html
  4-20-1

"The bottom line on this whole business has not yet been written."

--Dr. Sidney Gottlieb CIA Technical Services Staff director for the
MK-ULTRA program

Eighteenth-century German philosopher Georg Friedrich Hegel long ago
developed, among other things, what he called the principle of "thesis,
antithesis, synthesis" to explain the process of deliberately enacted social
disorder and change as a road to power. To achieve a desired result, one
deliberately creates a situation ("thesis,") devises a "solution," to solve
the "problems" created by that situation ("antithesis,") with the final
result being the ultimate goal of more power and control ("synthesis.") It
is unsurprising Karl Marx and his disciples like Lenin and Trotsky, as well
as the US government in its so-called War On Drugs, made this process a
keystone of their drive for total control of all individual actions that, in
their views, were not, in Mussolini s terms, "inside the state" and thus
controllable by the same.

In September 1942, OSS director and Army Maj. Gen. William "Wild Bill"
Donovan began his search for an effective "truth serum" to be used on POWs
and captured spies. Beginning with a budget of $5,000 and the blessing of
President Franklin Roosevelt, he enlisted the aid of a few prominent
physicians and psychiatrists like George Estabrooks and Harry Murray as well
as former Prohibition agent and notorious Federal Bureau of Narcotics (FBN)
director Harry Anslinger.

The OSS/FBN team first tested a potent marijuana extract,
tetrahydrocannabinol acetate (THCA), a colorless, odorless substance, lacing
cigarettes or food items with it, and administering them to volunteer US
Army and OSS personnel, all who eventually acquired the nickname "Donovanís
Dreamers." Testing was also conducted under the guise of treatment for
shell shock.

Donovanís team found that THCA, which they termed "TD," for "truth drug,"
induced "a great loquacity and hilarity," and even, in cases where the
subject didnít feel physically threatened, some useable "reefer madness."
Peyote, morphine and scopolamine were judged too powerful to be used in
effective interrogation. In light of all this, Donovan concluded, "The drug
defies all but the most expert and search analysis, and for all practical
purposes can be considered beyond analysis." The OSS did not, however, end
the program. By that time, faced with the terrifying ship losses the USA
was suffering from German U-boats, Donovan pressed on, hoping to find some
effective chemical means to help interrogate captured U-boat sailors.

In May 1943, George Hunter White, an Army captain, OSS officer and former
FBN agent, gave standard cigarettes laced with THCA to an unwitting August
"Augie Dallas" Del Grazio, an influential New York City gangster. Del
Grazio, who had by then had done prison stretches for assault and murder,
had been one of the Mafiaís most notorious enforcers and narcotics
smugglers. He operated an opium alkaloid factory in Turkey and was a key
participant in the long-running Istanbul/Marsellies/NYC heroin pipeline
commonly known as the "French Connection." Influenced by the THC, Del
Grazio (who was also helping to smuggle spies and Mafiosi into
German-occupied Italy) revealed volumes of vital information about
underworld operations, including the names of several high ranking city and
state officials who took bribes from the Mob. Donovan was encouraged by the
results of Whiteís tests when he wrote, "Cigarette experiments indicated
that we had a mechanism offering promise in relaxing prisoners to be
interrogated."

Unsurprisingly, the extensive wartime German experiments with various
hallucinogenic drugs at the Dachau concentration camp, directed by one Dr.
Hubertus Strughold, later honored as "the father of aviation medicine,"
aroused great interest in the USA especially after an October 1945 Navy
technical mission to Dachau reported in detail on Strugholdís work. So
great, in fact, that when the OSS and its successor, the CIA, imported 800
German scientists of various specialties under the auspices of the infamous
"Project Paperclip" during 1945-55, it made sure to include Dr. Strughold.

Dr. Strugholdís barbaric "medical experiments," for which his subordinates
were tried and convicted as war criminals at Nuremburg, were nothing more
than a series of bizarre and unspeakably brutal tortures. Even so, he
learned a lot about human behavior and a natural alkaloid in the peyote
cactus called mescaline (a substance long central to many Native American
and Australian aborigine religious rituals.) What is little known to many
is that mescaline (first isolated in 1896) is but one naturall

All times listed are Central Daylight Time.

Programming is only available in America, unless you can get these channels where you
live, basically meaning, check to see if you can get this programming before watching
it. :-/ I don't know why I included that, but I felt like I should.

Channels listed as airing on PBS-X are for Direct Broadcast Satellite, which airs 24
hours after it airs for cable and over-the-air viewers. So check to see if it airs a
day ahead in your listings. Always check your local listings to verify the date and
time.

Many of these programs have multiple airtimes on the same evening. To save space (and
time), only one listing has been provided. Check your listings for additional
airtimes.

Finally, this list may be incomplete. I don't have every channel in existence in the
electronic program guide I use to generate this list. Namely, I don't have any of the
Discovery Digital channels (Discovery Wings, Discovery Civilization, Discovery
Science, Discovery Home & Leisure). The only reason any of the Discovery Digital
listings are included today is because I took the time to look for a few programs, but
I know I missed many of them as I don't have time to manually scour the guides looking
for every single program that will be airing.

Yes... Imminent -- like they need to finalize their nanoprobe production
facility so they can stick a few of those in the vaccines.

I'm no biologist or pharmacist, but aren't vaccines typically made from the
very material that causes the disease in the first place? When you get a
flu shot, for example, you're actually being injected with a mild dose of
the flu in hopes that your immune system will trigger the proper T-cells and
build up your immunity to the flu. Of course, sometimes people have
horrible flus after having their flu shot, I presume because their immune
systems are out of whack to begin with.

[CTRL] Solar Flares and Sunspots - Satellite Outages

2001-04-13 Thread tribalzidane

-Caveat Lector-

It seems that at least one satellite may have been damaged by recent solar
activity on the sun. I subscribe to Echostar's Dish Network and we lost
several channels on the satellite located at 119º. Each satellite has 32
transponders and Dish has licenses to operate 21 of those 32 transponders.
The other 11 licenses belong to Dish's competitor, DirecTV. The status of
their satellite is unknown.

Dish has licenses for transponders 1 through 21. These transponders are no
longer operating:

   2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21

Since the content is MPEG compressed, each transponder can carry
approximately 8 to 12 channels, depending on how much motion is in the
content.

As a result, as of now these channels are offline, not including audio-only
channels or international channels:

it. :-/ I don't know why I included that, but I felt like I should.

Channels listed as airing on PBS-X are for Direct Broadcast Satellite, which airs 24
hours after it airs for cable and over-the-air viewers. So check to see if it airs a
day ahead in your listings. Always check your local listings to verify the date and
time.

I would think that the statements quoted below would preserve individualism
and protect it. It seems to revere the right to belong to the religion of
your choice without experiencing the persecution some like to throw around
if you belong to "the wrong religion". It's a matter of rights. And
anytime we discuss rights, someone always chimes in and says, "You have the
right to do anything you want to do as long as it does not infringe on MY
rights!" < continued below >

...Well, does using free speech to criticize members of another religion
infringe on that person's right to practice that religion? Or does the
right to free speech have precedence over the freedom to choose your
religion?

I don't see anything wrong with tolerating or appreciating all the world's
religions and lifestyles. I think it's a good thing. Apparently some
people can't handle having both freedom of religion and freedom of speech at
the same time because it causes too much unrest. Perhap laws against
condemning religions and the people who practice them would be something
that promotes peace, falling back on the old adage, "If you can't say
something nice, don't say anything at all."

Some might say that once free speech is limited, the arts would certainly
suffer since film makers and authors could no longer openly attack things
they might personally disagree with. However, other artists would come
forward to glorify what was once condemned. I would welcome that with open
arms. I enjoy films that show the beauty of different cultures and
religions, rather than exploiting and judging their faults, as if ours are
superior in some way.

Sounds like a wise statement to me. Have you watched the business news
lately? We are referred to as "consumers". They expect us to consume, and
when you consume, some finite resource gets used, whether it be electricity
produced by coal and oil, gasoline, or whatever. When "consumers" stop
spending their money, capitalists start wrenching their hands in panic and
"the economy" is plastered all over the news with politicians and
businessmen yelling at each other to do something about it. It IS suicidal!
We have a society in America that thrives on the consumption of natural
resources, and now the destruction of natural resources, since Bush decided
that the economy is more important than the environment. Everyone breathes
a sigh of relief when the Dow Jones Industrial Average rebounds and closes
400 points up because it means the gravy train hasn't come to an end yet.

Heh... My aunt was hit by that one. I told them what it was and it took my
dad forever to talk his sister into cleaning her system and changing her
password.

My sister ran a virus once on her computer and started getting phone calls at
all hours of the night. This virus can be used for more purposes than just
pranks. This guy logged in to my sister's account and got her address, phone
number and everything, then said he was going to be in the area, and said he
was going to stop by the house since he had her address. Some people are just
plain sick.

The last mail I posted was about the very strange Juno service agreement.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see the relationship between Juno claiming the right
to take over your computer with the US missile plan.

> if anything if someone posted more info about a subject

So would I. And I would be somewhat less than pleased if someone posted a
message in the same thread that is so far off from the original topic.

I've got no problem with people posting articles. That's what the list is
for. I just hate it when I see that messages have been added to the thread,
then I open the thread expecting to see a discussion about what Juno could be
thinking by enacting such a service agreement, and then I end up disappointed
because none of the messages in the thread have anything to do with Juno.

Perhaps your mail program doesn't thread mail messages, but mine does. It
makes it easier to follow discussions. So if your mail program doesn't thread
messages, of course you wouldn't be able to tell any difference if you simply
hit reply to post a message, then just changed the subject. But the Reference
header will still point back to my message, causing yours to be threaded
underneath.

Well, I've seen it all now. I wonder how many service agreements say things
like this, and how many Juno users are aware of it? And no, I'm not the one

If they're done by satellites (which I find more plausible than a couple of
geysers with two-by-fours) then the purpose would be to gain ultimate control
of the people. Create a hoax, let the suspense build, then say it's aliens
doing it, and if we don't do as they say, the aliens have threatened to
destroy us in probably more words than that. I imagine that most people
in the world would be gullible enough to believe such a story. Then the real
scientists and intellectuals would become what UFOlogists are now -- that wild
and crazy bunch that can't get a grip on reality.

Hey, some of these crop circles are simply too elaborate and detailed for a
couple of old geyzers to go out stomping around the fields with two by fours
and twine. I'm sorry, but I don't believe that all of these circles were done
by old men. I've seen some crop circles that were poorly done and I beleived
them to be hoaxes, but some of these cirlces are simple too beautiful and too
symmetrical to have been done with boards and string. To do these kinds of
circles, men would need aerial surveyors and weeks, if not months of work to
complete some of these designs so perfectly, if they could do it at all.

I used to have this state of mind in which every time I saw something about
the possibility of alien contact and more proof thereof, I thought that "they"
were preparing to spill the beans. I have always been disappointed. I've
always found that these programs never reveal as much as I've already surmised
about the situation, or read elsewhere. These programs are geared toward
people who don't participate in CTRL or other similar mailing lists. The top
priority in most people's minds is the economy, education, health care and
what they're having for supper each night. Unless a space ship drops out of
the sky and lands in their back yard, they aren't going to be too concerned
about it. The government and the media surely wonder why they should rock the
boat during times when the economy is growing and people are making money.

Of course, there are still many who have seen something in the sky, but
they're still too afraid to come out with it for fear of being laughed at by
their friends or colleagues. Luckily the internet is helping to bring these
kinds of people together so they can realize that they're not so strange.
Then again, we often reveal things online that we would never tell our
next-door neighbor, much less our relatives. The unfortunate thing is that
chances are I've probably spilled the beans to people I've talked to
face-to-face--perhaps even some good friends, and I've almost certainly been
read by a friend of one of my friends, and if we connected the dots, we'd
surely find some consensus and bring these topics out of the internet and into
face-to-face conversations.

My God! At first I thought I must have misunderstood the opening page. I
thought at first that it was a FASHION model site, then upon reading the job
description, I thought I must have misunderstood the purpose and figured maybe
it was some sort of technology modeling info site.

Maybe anybody who has a history of working at McDonald's should apply for the
job. :-D

Anyway, I asked my sister about it and she thinks that perhaps the applicant
needs that clearance in order to interact in some way with the software used
for uniform selection for military personnel. Models would model the
uniforms, of course, so that could explain why they need such a person on
their team. Of course, the only caveat to that is that a degree in math,
physics or computer science is required. :-/ I dunno.

You know, that's interesting because, even though I'm a male, those are the
hours I've always felt safest outside. :-/ I've always felt like I was
roaming through the boogeys between midnight and 5am. But I guess rapists go
to work every day, too, so they just get up an hour early and walk around
finding somebody to take advantage of.

Heh... and those are the three places I always watch myself.

too. :-)

I think I saw some woman on Jerry Springer trying to use those tactics on her
ex-boyfriend and it didn't work.

Yes, as a male, I can personally testify that it does hurt and it not take
much force behind the slap to send a male into agony. If I was a rapist and
knew that a woman had the strength to rip my muscle fibers through the skin, I
would in no way, shape, form or fashion, want her anywhere near my magic
nodules.

One thing I recommend, however, is after you kick him in the nuts, he'll
probably lean forward and start bouncing around. That makes his face a
perfect target. Drop your ladyhood and kick him in the face. Then when he
flies back, kick him in the nuts a few times more just to drive the point
home. Then send me your description so I'll know to remain at least eight
feet away from you should we meet in a parking lot.

It's extremely painful to the forearm as the tendons are stretched, too. I
just did it to myself without much pressure and oddly it resembles a mild
"kicked in the nuts" pain. Combine that with an intense feeling of diarrhea
cramps crawling from your gnads to your guts and that would be what being
kicked down below feels like. Well, I've never actually been kicked down
there. I jumped to catch a football I thought was coming with a high pass,
but it was a low pass. With my whole body flying through the air like a giant
X, (and I might say that what normally would have been hanging in front was
pointed up) the football caught me square in the crotch. I instantly morphed
from an X to a @. I was in constant pain for a good two minutes, but it was
another three minutes before I was willing to stand up. My only happy thought
was, "I'm glad that was a Nerf football."

Yeah, and think of it like this: A lot of disabled people are actually
offended if you try to help them accomplish something they've learned to do
just fine with their handicap, temporary or whatnot. I remember giving a guy
a total at a retail store I worked at. The guy had a problem with one of his
hands -- like it was still an infant's hand even though he was around 20 years
old. Anyway, I took the cap off the pen befor

I don't think they can derail private investigations unless they actually make

Some have theorized that the globe isn't ultimately warming, but stabilizing;
that the equatorial temperatures will cool and the pole temperatures will
warm. This may result in less available land mass, but a higher percentage of
land that we do have will be suitable for farming. Countries like Ethiopia
will no longer be desert-ridden and farming will become much easier so that
people will not starve to death. Such global changes are necessary, given the
increasing population. Imagine that. Less desert at the equator and less ice
at the poles means a greener planet overall. It also means that seasons would
be less extreme. We may have a growing season that never ends.

This article discusses it in part:

Not to worry. I'm sure that with money and secured income in the form of
patents as an incentive, some corporation will surely come up with a way to
feed us all...for a price. I wonder what those toothpick-like supermodels
will do. Dom DeLuise will be around for a long time after food supplies come
up short. And if food runs short, I guess I should be happy that I put a

It's no wonder that the government has failed in its mission AND become more
fascistic in the process. It tries to keep the peace. If two men (or two
women for that matter, hehe) want to duke it out in the street, shouldn't they
be allowed to? Maybe so. If the police catch it, however, they will try to
put a stop to it. If guns are involved, innocent bystanders may be injured,
and that ain't cool. Oops? Where did that come from? Must be this CD I'm
listening too. Anyway, if the government was created to keep peace between
the people, it only stands to reason that acceptions would be made to give the
government more and more power to keep the peace as different situations arise
that create grey areas that seem to fall outside the canvas of the
Constitution. In short, we were doomed from the start.

Aren't we only delaying the inevitable by doing this? I think until America
experiences a police state, perhaps they will be unable to imagine such a
thing ever happening. How long will citizens themselves demand new laws to
control the behavior of "other people", not realizing that at the very same
moment, someone else is pushing for a law to control "their" behavior? I
often doubt the ability of the people to have any perception beyond what
they're fed on the tube every night. "The world is what it is, and the world
is what's shown on the evening news and that has to stop, so make more laws to
control these things." America is really not in that bad a shape, criminally
speaking, yet the push for more laws seems as high as ever because the
illusion of America being a war zone is so strong. The illusion is brought on
by the digest format of the evening news -- a daily collection of the
highlights of "newsworthy events" in America and the rest of the world.

I think it's a good mission, if they can get airtime. Remember that the
mainstream media is controlled by six major companies and they're all in bed
with organized crime; and yes, I consider the US Government to be a major
player in organized crime. But the very outlet needed by CCOPS is the very
one they're least likely to get. Their audience will most likely be their own
cheerleading squad, such as the members of CTRL, Illusions and SearchNet News.
Hopefully they will create affiliations with other factions which have similar
missions to make their collective voice louder.

> CCOPS changes the way people see the problem. Most Americans don't
> know anything about the Bill of Rights.

And the government uses this to their advantage. When I was in school,
knowing the Bill of Rights and the Constitution was part of American History.
But that was one thing that wasn't reviewed from one year to the next. I only
remember learning once. I wonder how it's taught these days. Anybody in
their teens or early 20's want to relay their experience?

> Showing that government edict or program violates the Bill of Rights
> doesn't seem to excite too many Americans.

They probably don't realize what their rights afford them. They probably
can't imagine what their lives would be like without those rights. And do you
know what I see? I see a world mesmerized by watching television shows
depicting people who live their lives with far more rights than any American
has. Yes, it is makebelieve, but movie characters have far more courage than
the average American because it's all scripted for sensationalism.
