Bug#429191: flyspray phpmailer: not relevant for stable
Hi all, A security bug has been discovered in PHPMailer: | PHPMailer 1.7, when configured to use sendmail, allows remote | attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands via shell metacharacters | in the SendmailSend function in class.phpmailer.php http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2007-3215 https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=1734811group_id =26031atid=385707 Your package contains a copy of PHPMailer. I've fixed this for unstable since replacing the copy of phpmailer with a dependency was a good move anyway. For stable I've checked whether it's vulnerable and I believe it's not: the vulnerability is in the SendmailSend() function. That requires for the calling code to actually use the sendmail method, which Flyspray does not allow in any configuration. I suppose the security team does not send advisories for insecure code that is not called? As an additional note: sarge is not vulnerable because it doesn't contain a copy of the phpmailer class at all. Thijs -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#429314: texlive-context: missing dependency on lmodern
Florent Rougon [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I disagree. Putting lmodern in Recommends for context means: unless you know what you are doing, if you install context, then you also have to install lmodern. Consequently, if people follow this policy, they will always install lmodern alongside with context. To clear up the confusion referred to in my original bug report and the first response, how about this? man dosemu now has. in FILES: /etc/dosemu/dosemu.conf or (only if /etc/dosemu.users exists) /etc/dosemu.conf systemwide configuration file Since I don't think the latter is used at all, change to /etc/dosemu/dosemu.conf Ordinarily dosemu uses a compiled-in version of this file and ignores the one on disk. The distributed file simply documents the compiled-in settings. If you wish to customize the file and use it, see the comments at the top of the file. The file dosemu.conf itself is OK as is; it has a good explanation after the initial warning. This is assuming I've understood what's going on. Bug#429386: xdosemu hangs X server
Package: dosemu Version: 1.4.0-2rb Severity: important Justification: Hangs entire X session, though only erratically. Scope of systems affected is unclear; possibly related to proprietary nvidia driver. Sometimes when I start up xdosemu (running under KDE) the system becomes entirely unresponsive. The usual keys for switching virtual terminals do not work, nor do those for aborting or shutting down the session. When I have been able to ssh in to the affected machine, it shows X taking up all the CPU. Today this happened and I killed dosemu. X continued to take all the CPU. xrestop did not show anything striking. After a few minutes (unfortunately, just as I was about to strace) the X session seems to have died. My CPU use went down. However, the system remained unresponsive to keyboard or mouse. A pattern has been that when I upgrade dosemu everything hangs the first time I start up dosemu. After that it hangs only occasionally; I can't detect a pattern. The hang up is usually immediate, i.e., before I have done anything in the window that has opened. However, sometimes for the first 30 seconds or so the system seems slightly responsive (i.e., the mouse tracks when I move it), though very sluggish. I have seen this on two different boxes. This one has a P4 chip, the other a dual processor Athlon. Both boxes have nvidia video chipsets, and both use the proprietary driver (as packaged for Debian). Stock 2.6 kernels. It may be relevant that both systems have 2 CPUs, though in the case of the P4 the 2nd CPU is mostly fictional (it has hyperthreading; the kernel reports this as 2 CPUs). The open source nvidia driver does not work at all on one of the systems (in fact, it too usually hangs the X server with all CPU). The problem first emerged a few months ago with the 1.2 series; I have now seen it with the 1.4 series. This same time has also seen an xorg transition (now at 7.2?). First occurrence was April 25, 2007, coincident with the upgrade to dosemu 1.2.2-9 dosemu-freedos 1:0.0.b9r5a-3 I don't see any other installs or upgrades at the time the look relevant (except perhaps the associated fonts). Since the problem is erratic and possibly related to my use of a proprietary driver I've held off reporting this in hopes it would go away. Since the problem survived the 1.4 upgrade, here's the report. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (990, 'stable'), (50, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages dosemu depends on: ii libasound21.0.13-2 ALSA library ii libc6 2.5-9+b1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgpmg1 1.19.6-25 General Purpose Mouse - shared lib ii libsdl1.2debian 1.2.11-8 Simple DirectMedia Layer ii libslang2 2.0.7-1The S-Lang programming library - r ii libsndfile1 1.0.17-1 Library for reading/writing audio ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-7 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 1:1.0.3-2 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxxf86vm1 1:1.0.1-2 X11 XFree86 video mode extension l dosemu recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#429405: Wrong usage of su in /etc/cron.weekly/popularity-contest (New bug)

Bug#429396: boxbackup: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review
Package: boxbackup Version: N/A Severity: normal Tags: patch Dear Debian maintainer, On Tuesday, May 29, 2007, I notified you of the beginning of a review process concerning debconf templates for boxbackup. The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates, and the proposed changes are attached to this bug report. Please review the suggested changes are suggested, and if you have any objections, let me know in the next 3 days. Please try to avoid uploading boxbackup with these changes right now. The second phase of this process will begin on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, when I will coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates. The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will receive an updated PO file for their language. Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to the debian-i18n mailing list. Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with. The call for translation updates and new translations will run until Monday, July 02, 2007. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or changed debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of course, other changes are safe. On Tuesday, July 03, 2007, I will contact you again and will send a final patch summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates, updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations). Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash --- boxbackup.old/debian/boxbackup-client.templates 2007-05-25 08:09:06.963866340 +0200 +++ boxbackup/debian/boxbackup-client.templates 2007-06-17 20:47:40.785740741 +0200 @@ -1,130 +1,137 @@ +# These templates have been reviewed by the debian-l10n-english +# team +# +# If modifications/additions/rewording are needed, please ask +# for an advice to [EMAIL PROTECTED] +# +# Even minor modifications require translation updates and such +# changes should be coordinated with translators and reviewers. + Template: boxbackup-client/debconf Type: boolean Default: true -_Description: Do you want to handle the boxbackup client configuration with debconf? - Debconf can create the configuration files for boxbackup client. - If you prefer to do this by yourself you will need to use the script - bbackupd-config provided by this package. +_Description: Should the BoxBackup client be configured automatically? + The package configuration scripts can create the configuration files + for the BoxBackup client. . - The server won't start if it isn't configured. + You should choose this option if you are not familiar with BoxBackup's + configuration options. . - Whatever you choose here, you will need to read the README.Debian file - in /usr/share/doc/boxbackup-client. + Please read the /usr/share/doc/boxbackup-client/README.Debian for details + about the configuration of the BoxBackup client. Bug#345476: xserver-xorg: Logitech MX518 scroll mouse stops working with latest upgrade
About 18 months ago, you reported (or replied to) a bug to the Debian BTS regarding the logitech MX518 scroll mouse not working anymore in Xorg. Did you reproduce this problem recently? With Xorg/Etch? With latest xserver-xorg-core and drivers in unstable? If not, I will close this bug in the next weeks. I no longer have a mouse with two scrolls. As far as I remember, the bug was horizontal scroll not working, but I can't remember having Logitech mouse (always sticked to A4). Anyway, I can't really tell now, sorry. -- Greets Adrian -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#425858: radiusd-livingston: General update after the debconf review process
Dear Debian maintainer, On Sunday, June 17, 2007, I sent you a notification about the beginning of a review action on debconf templates for radiusd-livingston. Then, I sent you a bug report with rewritten templates and annoucing the beginning of the second phase of this action: call for translation updates. Translators have been working hard and here is now the result of their efforts. The attached tarball contains: - debian/changelog with the list of changes - debian/templates with all the rewritten templates file(s) - debian/po/*.po with all PO files (existing ones and new ones) It is now safe to upload a new package version with these changes. Please notify me of your intents with regards to this. Bug#429314: texlive-context: missing dependency on lmodern
So, why are you reporting a bug against texlive-context, since you know it is deprecated? To help Debian ConTeXt users, because etch will be used for perhaps two years (and longer by people who then run it as 'oldstable'). 2. Anyway, I fail to see what you want us to do, since the context package currently in unstable *does* depend on lmodern. Please clarify. I suggest that texlive-context depend on lmodern (as the newer 'context' does). But if, as it seems from the later emails, you and Frank think it's okay as just a Recommends, then I won't argue with your much greater Debian (and Debian TeX) packaging experience. Meanwhile I'll switch to aptitude as my command-line tool. -Sanjoy -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It seems to be an issue with Webpy 0.21. But I don't think it's really a bug, just a feature of Apache HTTPD. According to the information you gave per PM I suspect either menu or cdd-common as the source of the package (med-practice depends from med-common and this depends from cdd-common). In cdd-common some code is introduced that creates user menu entries if a user calls update-menus. I would suggest to try sudo apt-get remove cdd-common (which will also deinstall med-common and med-practice but you do not really need these to have gnumed-client installed. Then try update-menus. This should build correct menus. If my suspection is right the bug can either be closed or reassigned to cdd-common - but please make sure to append your previous output (which you posted in private) to the bug report to enable me tracking down this problem (well, it is the same manitainer who has to care about the problem ... ;-)). Bug#412922: please generate win32-loader.ini manifest file
On Mon, Jun 04, 2007 at 11:44:10AM +0200, Robert Millan wrote: if the CD is inserted, _increases_ our responsibility if the user should fail to read (or probably more importantly: understand) any of the warnings about erasing your harddisk and losing existing data. The fact that actually starting an install stills involve a reboot, is not a real safeguard as installing almost anything interesting on Windows requires a reboot anyway. The fact that currently the installer needs to be booted completely separately, at least makes absolutely clear to even the most clueless Windows user that Debian is not some Windows proggie that can just be tried (as running random Windows proggies is of course always safe, right?). I could probably be convinced to include this on CD images if the patch would not start your loader, but would open a modified README.html that has an extensive explanation of what Debian is and only contains a link to the loader itself. This would however increase the need for translation of the README.html (which is a worthwhile goal for debian-cd anyway). The same would go for USB keystick, but I am not sure if this should be included in other installation methods. I agree that these concerns are important. Perhaps a good solution would be to add enormous warnings (maybe even interactive warnings similar to the well-known Yes, do as I say!). Anyway, at the moment I'm not yet proposing to put this in the default CD, just to make it easy for users to build their custom CDs with win32-loader (which is currently awkward since you have to know win32-loader.ini format spec). I think for the kind of user who builds her own CD, it's safe to assume when this CD is used in a Windows box, someone who is not completely clueless about what an OS is will be around. So, is win32-loader.ini generation (alone, without generating autorun.inf!) ok at this point ? We can talk about autorun.inf later if you like. -- Robert Millan My spam trap is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Note: this address is only intended for spam harvesters. Bug#415292: libgl1-mesa-glx: assertion failure in libGL.so.1
Hi Nikita, It might be good to test Mesa 6.5.3-1 which has been uploaded to experimental today. The upstream bug that you reported has not been touched, but there are so many changes since 6.5.2 that it's probably worth a try. Hello, and sorry for long delay. I've tried it, and the issue is not fixed. Wine started on Xvnc4 16bpp session still gets same assertion failure. However, I found that wine works OK (at least without assertion failure being discussed) on Xvnc built from fedora sources (which is based on Xorg 7.x, while debian's Xvnc4 is based on Xfree 4.x). pgp745zo0xF7j.pgp Description: PGP signature
Bug#305925: vim-gtk: gvim window cannot be resized back
tag 305925 confirmed thanks On Fri, Apr 22, 2005 at 06:43:42PM -0400, Kamaraju Kusumanchi wrote: I am using kde 3.3.2 provided by Debian Sid. To reproduce the bug open gvim window left click on the middle button in the title bar to maximize the gvim window then clicking again on the same middle button should make the gvim window go back to its original size. But this does not happen. This behaviour is different from other windows managed by KDE (say konsole window). The problem is that vim sizes itself by lines/columns so that it doesn't have partial lines/columns showing. This takes effect after KDE has performed its resize, so vim isn't actually maximized when you click the button again. When you click the button again, KDE tries to maximize the window again, but Vim resizes itself, etc. Your best bet is probably to toggle Vim to/from fullscreen mode via KDE. Bug#405128: About debian bug #405128
Hello. Some time ago, you've reported a bug to Debian BTS against sylpheed-claws-gtk2 package, titled 'Segfault in IMAP code'. Could you please check if the crash described in that bug report can be still reproduced with the backages currently in Debian Unstable (I mean, libetpan11 0.49-3 and claws-mail 2.9.2-1 - note the package rename from sylpheed-claws-gtk2 to claws-mail). If bug is still reproducable, could you please install claws-mail-dbg and libetpan-dbg packages, then run claws-mail under gdb, reproduce the bug (make it to crash), then get the backtrace using 'where' gdb command, and send backtrace to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks for your assistance. pgpPqV04q6Hxh.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#428549: ECMAScript/javascript is disabled, and it is easy to turn it on, so turn it on!
Asheesh Laroia [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Version: 0.11.1-1.2 It's easy to enable JavaScript support for elinks, and basic JS/ECMAScript support would really go a long way given all of the dumb pages on the web that require it (for things like following links or submitting forms). ECMAScript support in ELinks 0.11.1 has several bugs that can cause SIGSEGV. Some of them may be exploitable for running arbitrary code. (If you can prove otherwise, please add your reasoning to the upstream bugs.) Bug#397192: No manpages for all 4 binaries
retitle 397192 Manpages missing thanks Hi, as the bug submitter correctly predicted, the manpages went lost after the last builds. 2.4.2-1.2 currently doesn't ship manpages for the binaries, as lintian correctly reports: W: fontconfig binary: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/fc-cache W: fontconfig binary: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/fc-cat W: fontconfig binary: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/fc-list W: fontconfig binary: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/fc-match The manpages file is wrong: $ cat debian/fontconfig.manpages fc-*/*.1 $ ls fc-*/*.1 ls: fc-*/*.1: No such file or directory $ But: $ find -name *.1 ./debian/fc-cache.1 ./debian/fc-list.1 $ So two binaries actually have manpages in the source packages, but fc-cat and fc-match are missing manpages completely.
