Thanks for the patch. This was applied long ago.

Bug#431494: fails to install

See the color package documentation for explanation.

This is a duplicate of texlive-base-bin's bug #425803. It's been solved
for new installs or upgrades, but in order to fix your system now that
it's broken, you need to manually reinstall some packages with dpkg
--force-confmiss. Please get the deb files for

texlive-base,
texlive-base-bin,
texlive-latex-base,
texlive-latex-extra
texlive-pictures

(they might already be in /var/cache/apt/archives, but make sure you got
the recent ones) and install each of them with

dpkg -i --force-confmiss name_of_the.deb

Don't care if the configuration of one or more of them fails, just
proceed until the end, that should fix it, and finally all should be
configured. To be sure, call dpkg --configure -a at the end.

Is there any documented way to obtain a stack trace? I found inn to be
incredibly hard to strace or otherwise debug because of the
complicated startup mechanism.

Do you want to co-maintain inn2?

Thanks for the offer. I will accept it if I can directly commit to a
version control system and if I am not the only co-maintainer.

I would also be willing to take over entirely (and build a team to
maintain inn2).

Betreff: Bug#431657: automatic wlan connection at bootprocess on Etch only on

Gesendet: Mo, 16. Jul 2007
Von: Jurij Smakov[EMAIL PROTECTED]

 Hi Michael,

 There is a line

 sleep 3

in the start_daemon() function of the /etc/init.d/ipw3945d script. Can
you try setting the number there to something like 10, and see if it
helps? It will make the script to pause for 10 seconds instead of 3
after starting the daemon, to give it some more time to initialize.

before sending my bug report I read

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=405270

and also tried to set sleep to a higher number.

But this doesn't solve the problem.

May I ask for any further suggestions concerning this problem?

Michael

Bug#419855: qgo: patch used to crash qGo

2007-07-16 Thread Cyril Chaboisseau
Package: qgo
Version: 1.5.4-1
Followup-For: Bug #419855

tags 419855 + wontfix

according to upstream developper, this problem has already been
overlooked and the sleep/usleep code has been taken away because it used
to make qGo crash

cf. http://qgo.cvs.sourceforge.net/qgo/qgo/src/qgtp.cpp?view=log#rev1.12

so it will stay like that for the moment but qGo2 should address this
problem altogether

Bug#425505: pdf2ps: cannnot specify output file when not run with a tty

I don't see the point, and the consequence is that when pdf2ps is
executed without an attached tty, the output file argument is

This problem causes other packages to fail to build (e.g opensp,

 Hi,

I — at least — would like to get an answer on this soon. In the
meanwhile, I would be tempted to bump the severity, so as to reflect the
fact it blocks the resolution of an RC bug.

Agreed ; done.

Bug#433299: backuppc: Conf{RsyncArgs} needs --devices option changed to -D

2007-07-16 Thread Mark
Package: backuppc
Version: backuppc
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

I noticed that servers upgraded to etch started silently failing backups
with fileListReceive failed error. Apparently special files are causing
breakage in the new version. In config.pl, the fix was to modify
Config{RsyncArgs} argument from --devices to -D, in order to instruct it to
do special files. Alternatively, adding the --specials argument also fixed.

In reference please also see the following URL:

BTW, I completely agree with Daniel [1] about the merging of -iwl3945

Bug#417760: GCC 4.2 transition

2007-07-16 Thread Martin Quinson
Hello Martin, this is Martin :)

As for the transition bug concerning widelands, you can proceed and
raise the bug to serious. The package already has a RC bug to prevent
it from going into testing. This is a preliminar version, which is
known to segfault when you attack the headquarter of the enemies, for
example.

As I said, I'm in the process of packaging the current svn release in
the hope that things get fixed quicker here. But unfortunately,
upstream decided that makefiles where not good enough for them (after
deciding the same about the good old working autotools), so they moved
to scons, and most of the traffic on upstream ML right now is about
issues this transition introduced.

So, in summary, despite the high potential of this project, the
corresponding package deserve another RC bug, unfortunately.

Correction: 417760 is about the 4.3 transition, so I may be out of the
topic ;)

Bye, Mt.

On Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 02:47:55PM +0200, Martin Michlmayr wrote:
GCC 4.2 was released on May 13 and has been in unstable since roughly
that time. The default version of gfortran was recently switched to
4.2 and the Debian GCC maintainers would like to move to 4.2 as the
default compiler in unstable for all architectures and for all
languages with the exception of Java (which will follow later).
This message describes the plan to make this transition possible.

Throughout the development of GCC 4.2, we regularly recompiled the
entire Debian archive with development snapshots of GCC to make sure
that we'd end up with a reliable compiler. We have done regular
rebuilds on IA64 and AMD64, and we have tested almost every
architecture at some point during the development phase of 4.2 (the
exception being hppa and m68k, as well as non-Linux platforms). We
now have a compiler with relatively few known issues.

We also filed bugs on packages that don't compile with GCC 4.2 and
 kept track of them at
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=ftbfs-gcc-4.2;[EMAIL
 PROTECTED]
These bugs need to be resolved before GCC 4.2 can be adopted as the
default compiler in unstable. At the moment, we have 66 bugs that
 need to be resolved:

  - 40 bugs that need further investigation and patches.
  - 16 packages with bugs that have patches and need to be NMUed.
  - 6 forwarded bugs: the maintainer should be pinged to see whether
this has already been resolved upstream or needs to be fixed
   in another way.
  - 4 pending bugs: we need to check why these packages haven't been
   uploaded yet.

This message is a call for help for this GCC 4.2 transition. We need:

  - Debian developers who can NMU the affected packages. We can do
0-day NMUs for GCC 4.2 related bugs.
  - C and C++ programmers who can investigate build failures and produce
patches.

If you're interested in helping with this transition, please send me
a message. The current plan is to resolve the majority of these bugs
within the next 10 days so we can move to GCC 4.2 by the end of next
 week.

Finally, here is a brief look ahead to GCC 4.3 (which may find its way
into lenny, depending on the upstream release date). The development
of GCC is divided into 3 stages (see http://gcc.gnu.org/develop.html)
and stage 1 is just about to come to an end. Moving to GCC 4.3 will
involve with major work because C++ header dependencies got cleaned up
 (see http://www.cyrius.com/journal/gcc/gcc-4.3-include). As a
result, C++ applications which don't include headers they need and
rely on them to be included indirectly will no longer build. From
what I've seen so far, the majority of C++ packages in Debian is
buggy in this way. I submitted an initial batch of bugs in April but
since then some more headers got cleaned up. The good news is that
these bugs are trivial to fix. For those interested in trying out a
snapshot of GCC 4.3, we're updating the gcc-snapshot package in
 unstable every 3-4 weeks.

Bug#428043: cupsys-driver-gutenprint: Prefer no broken PPDs

2007-07-16 Thread Barton C Massey
Sorry, meant to drop you a note earlier. Finally got around
to trying it last week, but it still didn't work. It looked
like your fix was to a PPD other than the HP 2500, though,
so that may be all that happened.

 That's probably expected. See #411141.

Not really, screensavers and fullscreen apps generally work fine for me

 Hello!

I tried to reproduce this bug but it works without any problem. I
downgrade the bug now and add tag unreproducible.

As this is not reproducible and the recent archive rebuilds haven't
triggered this issue I assume this was due to some dependency being
broken at that time. we can't really find out what was causing this.
I close this bug therefore. Please reopen if you still think thats an
issue.

Cheers,

Patch attached; this fixes the segmentation fault for me and makes

Agreed. I was exhausted when I filed the report and was trying to get
the facts down. When I'm a bit more rested I can learn or think

On the other hand, if nobody reports a problem, nobody else has an

Somewhat ignorant here. X11 was a lot more monolithic when I last dove in

Here I've copied ut some basic IDs and then later in the log most everything
is prefixed via (and dpkg says xserver-xorg-video-via is installed and

Hmmm, This can happen with GCJ when the native jars are not installed

especially helpful for GCJ.

This is not technically a bug:

This is because:

Note that 'echo' will always output a newline (0x0a). So the body isn't
empty, it contains a single newline / a single empty line.

Of course, this could be special cased, but then, where to stop? Also
special case a single space? And what about other whitespace? Is tab
whitespace? Are the various unicode whitespace characters whitespace?

Note that I'm not the maintainer, so I'm leaving the bug open, but if I

Bug#433304: examples in two places: /usr/share/gnucap and /usr/share/doc/gnucap

2007-07-16 Thread Timo Juhani Lindfors
Package: gnucap
Version: 1:0.35-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi,

gnucap seems to include two copies of each example. Please consider
removing either /usr/share/gnucap/examples or
/usr/share/doc/gnucap/examples. Here's an example also shows that
they are not hardlinks but really different files with the same
contents:

$ dpkg -L gnucap | grep nmos100.ckt|xargs ls -ldi
1599759 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7045 Aug 16 2000
/usr/share/doc/gnucap/examples/nmos100.ckt
1599593 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7045 Sep 22 2006
/usr/share/gnucap/examples/nmos100.ckt

The debian/rules file seems to already remove duplicate doc and
manual directories. Perhaps examples should be treated the same as
in above?

Yes I'm sure it's an Epson Stylus Color II, and I'm using

Sorry for the delay in replying. A new Gutenprint release, 5.0.1 has

Internet connection stops working after upgrade: dns and ping work,

I also can't connect to the box with either ssh or web client.

Yes, it's times' fault as you found. times.sty is obsolete and
unmaintained, please use mathptmx.sty instead, as described in
psnfss2e.pdf.

Also you should consider to stop using a4.sty. It's also obsolete, and
worse, there are many versions of it floating around on different
systems, each giving a different output. Note that if you simply remove
the line, you'll get much shorter lines from scrbook's defaults, but
that can be changed either with typearea.sty (documented in scrguide) or
with geometry.sty.

These symlinks to fonts in /usr/share/grace6/fonts/type1/

Bug#433305: libsasl2-modules-otp: Performing SASL negotiation: invalid parameter supplied

2007-07-16 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Package: libsasl2-modules-otp
Version: 2.1.22.dfsg1-13
Severity: normal

Hi,

I was just playing a little bit with the sasl-sample-server and
sasl-sample-client programs that come with the
debian packages for sasl2. Running both programs in separate xterm
windows and 'sending' their messages vice versa with mouse cut and paste
works as expected, e.g. for DIGEST-MD5. The sasl-sample-client then asks
for a password.

But when I choose OTP (which is offered by the server), then the client
aborts, and I currently don't see why:

% sasl-sample-client -m OTP
Waiting for mechanism list from server...
S: QU5PTllNT1VTIE9UUCBDUkFNLU1ENSBESUdFU1QtTUQ1IExPR0lOIFBMQUlOIE5UTE0=
recieved 50 byte message
Forcing use of mechanism OTP
Choosing best mechanism from: OTP
Using mechanism OTP
Preparing initial.
Sending initial response...
C: T1RQAGhhZG11dABoYWRtdXQ=
Waiting for server reply...
S: b3RwLW1kNSA0OTggYW42OTQzIGV4dA==
recieved 22 byte message
sasl-sample-client: Performing SASL negotiation: invalid parameter supplied

You should be able to run this just example with the client side.

So the message
S: b3RwLW1kNSA0OTggYW42OTQzIGV4dA==
causes a problem. Decoding it looks like this:

% decode64 b3RwLW1kNSA0OTggYW42OTQzIGV4dA== |xxd
000: 6f74 702d 6d64 3520 3439 3820 616e 3639 otp-md5 498 an69
010: 3433 2065 7874 43 ext

which is

otp-md5 498 an6943 ext

498 and the seed an6943 are correct. But what's wrong with this string
and why does the client abort?

regards

Bug#105666: Why 105666 will not go away soon.

2007-07-16 Thread Bernhard R. Link

package gv
tags 105666 + wontfix
thanks

Some background information about this bug:

It's a consequence of too much abstraction and some limitations in X.
Scrolling lists are implemented by just having a list inside a scrolling
window. That means that there is a (virtual) window containing the whole
list[1]. This becomes a problem as windows in X have dimensions limited by
15 bits (signed short int)[2]. Though together that means only the
beginning of lists is visible.

As this is quite a low-level problem, thus I am tagging this bug
wontfix, not because I think it should behave this way or is not
worth fixing, but because I deem it very unlikely that anyone will
find the time to write a list widget that incorporates the scrolling
anytime soon.

Hochachtungsvoll,
Bernhard R. Link

The Bazaar rebase plugin adds support for rebasing branches to Bazaar.
It adds the command 'rebase' to Bazaar. When conflicts occur when replaying
patches, the user can resolve the conflict and continue the rebase using the
'rebase-continue' command or abort using the 'rebase-abort' command.

You're going to package this within the pkg-bazaar team?

Bug#433311: O: bgoffice -- Bulgarian dictionaries for aspell, ispell, myspell and a word list

2007-07-16 Thread Anton Zinoviev
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2007-07-16
Severity: normal

I have been unable to maintain this package for some time so I should
not delay its orphaning any longer. It is lintian-clean but it has
some old bugs that need a fix.

This is a four-binary package:

aspell-bg -- Bulgarian dictionary for aspell
myspell-bg -- The Bulgarian dictionary for myspell
ibulgarian -- The Bulgarian dictionary for ispell
wbulgarian -- The Bulgarian dictionary words for /usr/share/dict

The upstream (bgoffice.sf.net) provides new restructured package and I
think it is better to use the current Debian package used only as a
reference while packaging the new upstream from scratch.

err, that means your package is uninstallable in sid, as tetex is gone,
and the texlive-latex-base version is 2007-10.

That's a known upstream issue, btw, targetted to be fixed by September
2007. I'm not sure whether this makes it completely unusable - if not,
I'd rather keep a separate important bug and make it installable with TL
2007 for the time being. If it is unusable, we'll have to wait, anyway.

Bug#433314: Makefile.in.in: Shouldn't itlocaledir use datadir?!

2007-07-16 Thread Pascal Giard

Package: intltool
Version: 0.35.5-4
Severity: normal

FWIW, I encountered the following while working on DeSmuME (http://desmume.org).

I'm using intltoolize to generate the scripts and therefore copies
/usr/share/intltool/Makefile.in.in in po/ .

Building with --datadir=/usr/share/games i noticed that locale files
were installed in /usr/share/locale even though i was expecting it to
be in /usr/share/games/locale.

Looking closer at /usr/share/intltool/Makefile.in.in, i noticed that
unlike /usr/share/gettext/po/Makefile.in.in and $localedir, the
localedir is built using...
$(prefix): /usr
$(DATADIRNAME): /share
locale: /locale

I was expecting $(datadir)/locale ...
Is this a bug are locales should always be in $(prefix)/$(DATADIRNAME)/locale ?

Thanks,

-Pascal

Since the gajim package has not changed recently, this is likely to be a

Bug#433317: RFA: font-arhangai

2007-07-16 Thread Anton Zinoviev
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2007-07-16
Severity: normal

This package requires almost no efforts to maintain. It has no
reported bugs and I wouldn't be surprised if it requires no uploads
for lenny.

However I am offering it for adoption because I want to reduce the
number of packages I maintain.

I have not contacts with the upstream and I suppose there are no new
upstream versions of the font. His former web page redirects here:

Bug#433290: dpkg: /usr/bin/man not found

forcemerge 198220 433290

This is a known wishlist item and should either be closed or merged with

Agreed and merged. My personal opinion is that dpkg -S should follow
symlinks but not display it like a direct match. It should do something
similar to diversions.

For diversions we have:
$ LANG=C dpkg -S /usr/bin/objdump
diversion by binutils-multiarch from: /usr/bin/objdump
diversion by binutils-multiarch to: /usr/bin/objdump.single
binutils-multiarch, binutils: /usr/bin/objdump

For symlinks we could have:
$ dpkg -S /usr/bin/man
non-packaged symlink to /usr/lib/man-db/man: /usr/bin/man
man-db: /usr/lib/man-db/man

It should do symlink resolution one by one. Which means that for
alternatives we should have:
$ dpkg -S /usr/bin/editor
non-packaged symlink to /etc/alternatives/editor: /usr/bin/editor
non-packaged symlink to /usr/bin/vim: /etc/alternatives/editor
non-packaged symlink to /etc/alternatives/vim: /usr/bin/vim
non-packaged symlink to /usr/bin/vim.full: /etc/alternatives/vim
vim-full: /usr/bin/vim.full

When loged user make a switch user and other user log on. After new user

and want to log off he immediately get access to previous loged in user
without need to type a password!

What method do you use to switch user? If it is in the logout menu, the
screen should be locked on the inactive screen.

Is gnome-screensaver or xscreensaver installed?

Hello Pascal

After clicking the system tray icon on my xfce4-desktop I got
the message /bin/bash: evolution: command not found. Before the split
into two packages there was a config option for the preferred mail-reader
application. Do you consider to implement this feature again?

Hello Goran,
i'm unable to reproduce this problem, at least with version 4.1.dfsg.1-1 .

Moreover, it's been possible to use a custom command upon mail
reception for a while now...

Do you still have problems?

Cheers,

'rebase-continue' command or abort using the 'rebase-abort' command.
You're going to package this within the pkg-bazaar team?
Yes, it will team-maintained. It's actually already in the team

If we specify multiple relay hosts while configuring postfix with debconfi,

Summary: segfaults while trying to print moreverb.dvi, read from fifo

 Initial Comment:
 see http://bugs.debian.org/361218

If xdvi is invoked to read from a file descriptor in
/dev/fd/, it segfaults while trying to print. For
 testing,
 http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/debian-tex/tetex-bin/trunk/debian/xdvi-pl?op=filerev=0sc=0

this is the Perl script we use to uncompress gzipped
files on-the fly into a FIFO and open xdvi on it.

Fixed in 22.84.13-CVS16; reason was memory corruption by silently assuming
file had .dvi extension, which the FIFO didn't have. Used new function
 get_extension() to prevent this.
