[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1173571] Re: please change wenquanyi micro hei back with 69-language-selector-zh-tw.conf
Just FYI, one of the reasons why WQY Microhei is not maintained is that, at some time a Droid Sans Fallback update released by Google contains many more characters than in Microhei, while the project's initial goal was to expand the original Droid Sans to get better coverage. It's currently impossible to get the best appearance for character if no hand-crafted hinting is involved for each type face, even WQY project had that pushed forward a large step while making Microhei, the project leader still said that quality of the font will never match those fonts made by commercial companies because of the limited availability of volunteer manpower. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to language-selector in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1173571 Title: please change wenquanyi micro hei back with 69-language-selector-zh- tw.conf Status in Ubuntu Seeds: In Progress Status in “language-selector” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “ttf-wqy-microhei” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: In quantal and previous version of ubuntu, we use WenQuanYi Micro Hei as default Chinese (Traditional) fonts for Sans, Monospace. First, I tried to run: im-switch -s ibus But this did not work because I had a broken link in ~/.xinput.d/en_US After removing this link, I was able to enable ibus. I logged out and back in and tried to use it. It does appear to allow me to input Chinese characters, however, it refuses to show the language panel, which makes Pinyin input completely useless. Changing the setting in ibus-setup to always show it still doesn't cause it to appear. If it makes any difference, I removed all of the hotkeys except Alt- Grave, since I don't have most of them and Ctrl-Space is kind of important for Emacs. Is there any way that I can debug this? I'm mystified as to what program actually runs to show the panel in the first place. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 997620] Re: predictable way to crash other apps via ibus
This is not a problem in IBus, but a problem of how XIM works. If the handler program of XIM is not responsive (died, suspended, or just two slow), then the program that it is used to input to will die without rescue, this is essentially what happened as described predictable way to crash other apps. To avoid such problem, port the application to use any of the IM Modules, or just start IBus using the recommended way. ** Changed in: ibus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997620 Title: predictable way to crash other apps via ibus Status in “ibus” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I can reliably crash third-party apps the following way on an up-to- date lucid system. 1) start ibus-daemon on the command-line 2) start third-party app 3) toggle input via ibus 4) Ctrl-Z on ibus to put it in the background All apps using ibus will essentially lock up at this stage. Typing bg to keep ibus running in the background is not possible. As such this is not supported by the pygobject development team and we encourage you to port your app to Gtk 3 or greater. PyGTK is the recomended python module to use with Gtk 2.0 warnings.warn(warn_msg, RuntimeWarning) Since it is not possible to use ibus without enabling any of the input methods using the setup window, this should be considered a high priority bug for ibus. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1249208] [NEW] Avoid conflicting SuperSpace shortcut with g-s-d
Public bug reported: [Impact] Now we are using SuperSpace as the shortcut of switching IME forward, and the shortcut is handled twice: first in g-s-d and then in ibus. This leads to a conflict and the shortcut does not really work. [Test Case] Old behavior: Press SuperSpace does not have any effect of changing the IME forward. Expected behavior: After installing the updated package, user removes ibus configuration files in ~/.config/ibus and ~/.cache/ibus, and re-login to the system, SuperSpace should work for people who are using Unity or GNOME Shell. [Regression Potential] IBus may still push notification message about SuperSpace as the shortcut for users of other desktop, but the shortcut in effect would be CtrlSpace when there is no other program grabbing the key press (like what g-s-d does). ** Affects: ibus (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Aron Xu (happyaron) Status: In Progress ** Affects: ibus (Ubuntu Saucy) Importance: High Assignee: Aron Xu (happyaron) Status: New ** Changed in: ibus (Ubuntu) Status: New = In Progress ** Changed in: ibus (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Aron Xu (happyaron) ** Also affects: ibus (Ubuntu Saucy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ibus (Ubuntu Saucy) Assignee: (unassigned) = Aron Xu (happyaron) ** Changed in: ibus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: ibus (Ubuntu Saucy) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249208 Title: Avoid conflicting SuperSpace shortcut with g-s-d Status in “ibus” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in “ibus” source package in Saucy: New Bug description: [Impact] Now we are using SuperSpace as the shortcut of switching IME forward, and the shortcut is handled twice: first in g-s-d and then in ibus. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1249208] Re: Avoid conflicting SuperSpace shortcut with g-s-d
I talked with seb128 and wants to re-evaluate the way of shortcuts handling, so this is a transitional solution in trusty. We have a chance to get rid of ibus integration from GNOME in trusty to avoid such odd situation. Also SuperSpace isn't really good UX, and might be reverted later. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249208 Title: Avoid conflicting SuperSpace shortcut with g-s-d Status in “ibus” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “ibus” source package in Saucy: Confirmed Bug description: [Impact] Now we are using SuperSpace as the shortcut of switching IME forward, and the shortcut is handled twice: first in g-s-d and then in ibus. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1241881] Re: gnome-keyring depends on transitional package libgcr-3-1
Dependency on libgcr-3-1 is gone in gnome-keyring/3.8.2-0ubuntu3.1, but it's still not possible to remove libgcr-3-1 because at lease seahorse is still depending on it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241881 Title: gnome-keyring depends on transitional package libgcr-3-1 Status in “gnome-keyring” package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in “gnome-keyring” source package in Saucy: Fix Committed Bug description: According its package description, libgcr-3-1 version 3.8.2-4 in Saucy Salamander is a transitional package that should be safe to remove. However, an attempt to remove the package reveals that gnome-keyring (version 3.8.2-0ubuntu3) depends on it. I cannot tell if removing the dependency from gnome-keyring was forgotten or libgcr-3-1 has been wrongfully marked as transitional, but the latter seems highly unlikely. Either way this is a problem that should be fixed. [Rationale] People should be able to remove transitional packages without removing the packages that depend on their replacements. This is forbidding people from removing libgcr-3-1 without removing gnome-keyring as well. [Test Case] Install the gnome-keyring package, and then try removing the transitional libgcr-3-1 package. I have stated in Software Sources that updates also from raring- proposed shall be installed. Consequenty Ubuntu tried to install version 1.4.3-1 of ibus-chewing. That version is dependent on ibus 1.5, and since a previous version of ibus is and will be included in Raring, ibus-chewing couldn't be installed. Together with the fact that ibus-chewing is one of the language support packages for traditional Chinese, the whole language installation failed.
