[l10n-dev] adding new ancoding does not work

2005-04-19 Thread Hristo Simenov Hristov
Hi,
I followed the instructions from
http://l10n.openoffice.org/i18n_framework/HowToAddEncoding.html, and it does
not works. I think that when I choose my encoding in the dialog, it does not
call the method for converting my encoding but calls some default method. The
encoding which I want to add is not official one but it is used here in
Bulgaria for plain text files. A lot of people have files left from old DOS
days.
Can somebody help me to figure it out why it doesn't work. I attached the
patch which I made. If somebody can look at it is there anything wrong.

Best regards

In the Help we have this:
Cell
This command is only available if you have selected a table in your document,
or if the cursor is in a table cell.
To access this command...
Choose Table - Insert/Delete - Cells

But in the Writer I did not find such command in the Table menu.

In the left of OOo Draw we have little pages with strings: Slide 1, Slide 2,

Can we have any solution of that? The user will be also confused of this.

How new language can be added?
We need unique stringid for every string because we have different
translations of one english string. For example in /svx/source/dialog.po for
string: ~Left we have three tranlations denepending of usage of that string.
So, to use such server it have to be fixed po extraction from the source to
prevent such problems.

I think that maybe there is difference in po and en-US.sdf file. I had such
problem when with MIK encoding string. I made a patch for adding MIK encoding
(which didn't worked but this is other story) and there was a string to add
in a combo box. I had en and bg strings in the po file but not in the
en-US.sdf file which was used for tempate to back convert to GSI-bg.sdf file.
When the po2oo reached this string it printed such message. In older version
there was a message that there are string without key. So, I think it has to
be made a check for strings which is not in the template and are in po file
and to print proper message for this.

Yes, the problem is that. I found the string in scalc.po which was not present
in en-US.sdf template. Now left for first one to find. It will be dificult
because swriter.po is bigger file.
So, these two messages are not correct report for strings in po files which
are not in the template.

[l10n-dev] Bulgarian Cyrillic alphabet numbering.

2005-11-15 Thread Hristo Simenov Hristov
Hi,
I made a patch to have Bulgarian Cyrillic alphabet numbering in OOo. Also I
changed the local and they appear in the Numbering tab in Bullets and
Numbering dialog. But in the Options tab in the same dialog they do not
appear. Can somebody to help me how to include it in the combobox Numbering
in Options tab?
I have made 4 numberings.
1. 1=>А, 2=>Б, ..., 30=>Я, 31=>АА, 32=>АБ, ...
2. 1=>а, 2=>б, ..., 30=>я, 31=>аа, 32=>аб, ...
3. 1=>А, 2=>Б, ..., 30=>Я, 31=>АА, 32=>ББ, ...
4. 1=>а, 2=>б, ..., 30=>я, 31=>аа, 32=>бб, ...

regards.

P.S. It will be good if it has a vertical scrollbar in the Numbering tab like
in the Graphics tab.

Sorry, my mistake. The patch can be seen at issue #42198
(http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=42198). It works, I tried
with own build, but there is a little problem. The numberings do not appear

I think that NLC leaders of this languages have to say are they use different
letters in numbering.
In Bulgarian the alpaphabet is this: А, Б, В, Г, Д, Е, Ж, З, И, Й, К, Л, М, Н,
О, П, Р, С, Т, У, Ф, Х, Ц, Ч, Ш, Щ, Ъ, Ь, Ю, Я.
So, if other langueges have no problems to use numbering with this letters
I'll change the variables name to standart name. Let speak others :)

I changed the names of the tables to table_bgCyrillicUpperLetter and
table_bgCyrillicLowerLetter. I left the bg because still not know is this
table will surve to other Cyrillic languages. Also I removed two letters: й
and ь, because because they not used in alphabet numbering in Bulgarian this
was after I have some consultation about this question.
So this is the table letters: А, Б, В, Г, Д, Е, Ж, З, И, К, Л, М, Н, О, П, Р,
С, Т, У, Ф, Х, Ц, Ч, Ш, Щ, Ъ, Ю, Я. If it is good for others I will remove
the bg from the tbles names. Also it appears that when it used capital letter
numbering only the first one is capital, the rest have to be a small one. So
I had to add a new method which I called lcl_formatChars2.
The method is this:
void lcl_formatChars2( sal_Unicode table_capital[], sal_Unicode table_small[],
int tableSize, int n, OUString& s )
{
 // string representation of n is appended to s.
 // if A=='A' then 0=>A, 1=>B, ..., 25=>Z, 26=>Aa, 27=>Bb, ...

 int repeat_count = n / tableSize + 1;
 s += OUString::valueOf( table_capital[ n%tableSize ] );

 for( int i=1; i

Well, I set LANG_CJK instead LANG_ALL. Here is the hole line:
{style::NumberingType::CHARS_BG_CYRILLIC_UPPER_LETTER, NULL, LANG_CJK},
and it works. So, what I have to do now? To try to remove the condition
(aLangOpt.IsCJKFontEnabled() || aLangOpt.IsCTLFontEnabled())?

I can't undestand this :(
Did you mean to put something instead of NULL here:
{style::NumberingType::CHARS_BG_CYRILLIC_UPPER_LETTER, NULL, LANG_CJK},

I presume that you mean if I put something in Cyrillic instead of NULL?

You were right. I didn't know that there are other two files with such check.
When I removed it from other two files it apears in the combo in Options tab.
Now I have to make a proper name in the combobox.
The name which I decide to use are:
А, Б, ..., Аа, Аб (bg)
а, б, ..., аа, аб (bg)
А, Б, ..., Аа, Бб (bg)
а, б, ..., аа, бб (bg)

For now I do not have success to show Cyrillic in the combobox.
I replaced
return OUString::createFromAscii(aSupportedTypes[index].cSymbol);
with
return OUString(aSupportedTypes[index].cSymbol,
sizeof(aSupportedTypes[index].cSymbol)-1, RTL_TEXTENCODING_UTF8);
in DefaultNumberingProvider::makeNumberingIdentifier method
but without any success. When I use latin letters appears only the first one.
I searched for 8-bit codes and made:
#define C_CYR_A "\xB0"
#define C_CYR_B "\xB1"
#define S_CYR_A "\xD0"
#define S_CYR_B "\xD1"
and I tried this:
{style::NumberingType::CHARS_BG_CYRILLIC_UPPER_LETTER,  C_CYR_A ", "
C_CYR_B ", ..., " C_CYR_A S_CYR_A ", " C_CYR_A S_CYR_B " (bg)",
LANG_ALL}, //Абв
but it didn't work.

Did I do something wrong?
best regards.

Someone proposed the table with letter to be made localizable but I do not
know is it possible and how to do it. I do not know how to take the localized
strings. I supose this I can look in other localization string how is it
done. Is there a variable or object from which to get the current locale? It
is not very good way to connect it with the locale but I do not see other
way.

I'm almost ready with our patch for Bulgarian alphabet numbering.
So, now we have to decide the indexes of numberings because in the future will
be more Cyrilic alphabet numbering.
Eike suggested to create identifiers that contain the difference in usage,
for example, if xx uses J and yy doesn't:
xx: A,B,C,...
yy: A,B,C,...,I,K,...
If this is choosed we have to agree the base index.
Bulgarian alphabet numbering is: А, Б, В, Г, Д, Е, Ж, З, И, К, Л, М, Н, О, П,
Р, С, Т, У, Ф, Х, Ц, Ч, Ш, Щ, Ъ, Ю, Я.
We do not use Й and Ь in the numbering.
So, if we take this for base here is the index: А, Б, ..., Аа, Аб
In other language if have difference, for example letters X and Y, the new
index wll become: А, Б, ..., X, ..., Y, ..., Аа, Аб

One member of our team suggest to make them localizable.
I'll research this thing is it posiible and I'll write back here what is the
result.

best regards

I didn't explain it well :0 My mistake
By localizable I mean the index to be localizable.
here an example:
А, Б, ..., Аа, Аб (Български)
А, Б, ..., Аа, Аб (Bulgarian)

А, Б, ..., Э, ..., Аа, Аб (Руски)
А, Б, ..., Э, ..., Аа, Аб (Russion)

I hope that it is clear now

Ok people. I see that I'm not undestand well.
I'll try to explane more.

I'm preparing a patch which adds Cyrillic alphabet numbering in OOo.
Because other Cyrillic languages uses more or less letter it is not possible
to be done one numbering for all Cyrillic languages. For example you can see
how many numberings are wen you enable CTL.
The patch adds 4 Cyrillic numberings:
1. А, Б, ..., Аа, Аб
2. а, б, ..., аа, аб
3. А, Б, ..., Аа, Бб
4. а, а, ..., аа, бб

So, when I'm ready with the patch and it is integrated, other NLPs can made
own patches using my. Then they can add changes in their xx_XX.xml locale
file to add a couple their Cyrillic numberings in Numbering tab of Bullets &
Numbering Dialog.
In this dialog has tab Options where in a combobox Numbering are listed all
available numberings.
So, in this combobox you will se these 4 strings, which I mantioned above, at
the end of the list.
These strings are made by DefaultNumberingProvider::makeNumberingIdentifier in
defaultnumberingprovider.cxx file in i18npool module.
There is a switch where are listed all available numberings.
Here is the first of my numberings
{style::NumberingType::CHARS_BG_CYRILLIC_UPPER_LETTER,  C_CYR_A ", "
C_CYR_B ", ..., " C_CYR_A S_CYR_A ", " C_CYR_A S_CYR_B, LANG_ALL}, //Абв
The stuff before LANG_ALL is А, Б, ..., Аа, Аб string which will appear in the
combobox.
C_CYR_A, C_CYR_B, S_CYR_A, S_CYR_B are А, Б, а and б their 8-bit code

#define C_CYR_A "\xD0\x90"
#define C_CYR_B "\xD0\x91"
#define S_CYR_A "\xD0\xB0"
#define S_CYR_B "\xD0\xB1"

So, when other NLP creates their patch to add their Cyrillic alphabet
numbering, they have to change this to something unique.
And there is two proposal how to do it this.

The first one made Eike and he proposed to add the difference letters for the
other language than Bulgarian Cyrillic.
For example for Russion Cyrillic alphabet numbering to be: А, Б, ..., Э, ...,
Аа, Аб. If they want all to be capital leter then it has to be: А, Б, ...,
Э, ..., АА, АБ

The second proposal made by Misho (member of our team) is to add the language
at the end and because this numberings will be available for all languages,
this string to be localizable.
So, for Bulgarian numbering in Bulgarian it will be: А, Б, ..., Аа, Аб
(Български), in English it will be А, Б, ..., Аа, Аб (Bulgarian) and in other
language how it translates
For Russion nubering in English to be: А, Б, ..., Аа, Аб (Russian), in
Bulgarian: А, Б, ..., Аа, Аб (Руски), in other language how it translates
If for capital letter is used all capitals it have to be А, Б, ..., АА, АБ
(Russian), А, Б, ..., АА, АБ (Български) and etc.
Only the language have to be translated, the letters stays the same.
This variant I'm investigate is it possible to be done.

So in general, my question was, which variant do you think is better for these
numbering indexes. The first one or the second one (if it is possible).

I hope now to be more clear. :)

best regards.

I want to make this filter is custom. Is very popular in Bulgaria but it is
not an official standart. I made a patch which should work, but it doesn't
work. Here is the patch:

I need help if I missed someting or where I can put dumps to see what is

I will be very gratefull if somebody help me to finish this patch.

Or it is never mind which?

Yes, I checked. This MIK encoding is a big misundestanding of our scientist
whos didn't have any idea of what they done. With some existing encoding have
some success but missing letters are a lot and the text is unreadable at all.
With GUI programs there are no problems, because we use cp1251 or UTF-8, but
there still have DOS text files which used MIK encoding. That why I'm tring
to make this filter, to help people with such files to transfer easy their
files to OOo.
