Removal of Adfinis SyGroup from the consultants list

2024-07-01 Thread David Vogt
Hi there,

I would like to request the removal of Adfinis SyGroup from the consultants
list (assets/bizdev/consultants/consultants.xml).

We do not offer OpenOffice consultancy services to new clients anymore, so
having our company listed there does not benefit anyone. Also, the info
link 404's as well.

Note that we changed our company name from "Adfinis SyGroup" to "Adfinis" a
few years ago along with the domain name, so if you need to authenticate my
message before the removal, freel free to send an email to the address in
the consultants.xml first - it still works :-)

Thanks and best regards,
David

My question is this: Do I simply download 4.1.15 from the Apache

Thank you for all the work you have put into this. I would be willing to help

Very, very happy. Future updates should be much easier. I will follow up with
the Forum sysadmins on these issues:

1. The Italian Forum has a weird display issues. I think that a post will need
to be regenerated.
2. We need to find forum administrators to replace imacat for each forum.
3. I will need to document the process, customizations and migration steps.

But I’ll need a few days away.

Simply by renaming ~/.openoffice/4/user

error on the command line javaldx: invalid settings. User must select a
JRE from options dialog!

followed by a dialog box with the error message The application cannot
be started. exception occurred raising singleton
"/singletons/com.sun.star.deployment.ExtensionManager": loading
component library failed:
file:///opt/openoffice4/program/../program/deployment.uno.so

If I remove my profile the error message on the command line changes to
Exit 77 /opt/openoffice4/program/soffice

followed by the same dialog box error.

I note that a .lock file is left in the top level of the profile structure.

I can roll back to AOO420m2 Build 9821 dated 2019-10-24 with no problems.

Am I missing something simple?

However, if you choose to innstall AOO, please make sure you read the

We do get occasional problems on the EN forum where a stray trailing non

it seems your Internet connection is different when handling such files.
Compared to ASC and KEYS I need to download the MD5 and SHA256 files instead of
seeing them in my browser.

So, can you right click the links and use "Save As" to download and save them
locally? Does it work?

Otherwise I would ask the system admin for help.

I'm pretty sure it would work when you are at home. So, sending the hash values

2017-10-25 Thread David Szott
Hi,

I'm on https://www.openoffice.org/download/ (tried IE 11 and Firefox) and
downloaded the Windows English (US) 4.1.4 full installation executable, but
cannot get to the MD5 page. I can pull up KEYS and ASC, but both MD5 and
SHA256 links pull up a blank page that quickly closes.

Thank you.

Open Office 4.1.3

2016-11-14 Thread David Williams
I am an author and have been using Open Office for many years by using Dragon
Dictate without any problems. The Open Office has coped with the dictation with
no difficulty.
NOW, after upgrading to Open Office 4.1.3 I get the message that it doesn’t
accept dictation and typing. This is something new and will not allow me to
dictate into my favourite word processing program.
Is there a patch that I can download to resolve this?

Will I be notified by open office?

What steps do I need to take to do any updates, as I want to insure I am

When you're putting together a plan for marketing efforts concerning a
Wikipedia article, it may help if you don't leave prima facie evidence
of your coordinated effort on a public mailing list.

Editing with a conflict of interest is not specifically disallowed by
Wikipedia policies, but ideally it should be avoided. Note example on
the talk page, where a list participant properly noted his involvement
when this was brought to his attention.

Relevant guideline: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest

You should note also that a "conflict of interest" does not mean a
differing opinion, and also that improperly founded accusations of COI
are held to constitute personal attacks and should ideally be avoided.

There are those (e.g. Jimmy Wales) who believe public relations
efforts on Wikipedia should work to the "bright line" standard, where
you don't go near the article at all, and certainly don't try to
coordinate an off-site attack on a Wikipedia contributor because you
believe they are not helping your marketing. This is something the
project, and the Foundation in general, should probably consider.

Cheers!

The test to do is check the file in Windows Explorer. Right click
and go to the Properties panel. If it is marked read only there,
with AOO not even running, then it is an OS issue.

There are a number of reported Windows 10 problems, some of which are
being laid at the door of OpenOffice although they may be generic W10
upgrade difficulties and/or user problems with that upgrade.

I list below some of the recent threads.

The most common problem is that the W10 upgrade leaves all OpenOffice
files (and, from other reports, other application files) in read-only
form; this read-only may possibly be removable but there is no clear 100%
effective path to do this (from the reports below)

Other reports are of inability to open OO applications - Calc apparently
being the most commonly affected.

Issues

2014-03-11 Thread David Beanblossom
I have been building a house and have spent way too much time generating
spreadsheets lately since the project is winding down. I have observed what
I believe are defects in your calc program. Such as:

. I haven't found a way to change the default fonts in Calc. They
are always Arial 10. I have change the OpenOffice Writer to what I want,
but not in Calc.

. Spell check does not work in Calc although it tells you everything
is OK and there is no misspelling.

. I have a file with multiple sheets. In one file, sheet #2 shows
data, but it is blank in page preview and will not print. Yet the data is
right in front of me.

. The header and footers drive me nuts. I can't turn off the header
Sheet 1 nor the footer Page 1. I have to go into every sheet and delete
them every time I open a spreadsheet. If you can turn them off or make a
default, your Help button doesn't know it. And, if I do delete them and
later want to add a header, I can't. The header and footer are grayed out
in Edit and cannot be added under Insert. What is the deal???

I will write more when I remember the other irritations of Calc.

That's ridiculously wrong, to the point of warranting formal messages

RE: EXTERNAL: Re: Building comphelper

2013-12-11 Thread Meffe, David K
Raymond and Herbet,

I found out where the make file was including the stlport libraries. It was in
solaris.mk in the gb_Library_FILENAMES and gb_Library_LAYER. I commented out
the STLLIBS in both of these sections and it was able to build comphelper.
While I'm not sure this is the best solution, it was where the LinkTarget.mk
was getting the location for the libcomphelperC52.so.

For select1st, we noticed that the functional header delivered with
 stdcxx4 did not define select1st,

Select1st didn't make it into the C++ standard, so good standard compliant

but the aoo delivered functional located in systemstl/tr1 did. Our
Makefile flags are set to include the stdcxx4 functional instead of the
systemstl/tr1 functional. To get around this we modified
 namedvaluecollection.cxx:

 #if defined(__SUNPRO_CC)
 #include ../systemstl/tr1/functional
 #esle
#include functional
 #endif

Let us know if you think there is a better way to address this.

The systemstl/tr1/functional header is a wrapper around good standard compliant
functional headers. Many parts of the AOO codebase still expect the obsoleted
stlport4 semantics and the wrapper provides them.
The AOO codebase is being adjusted (e.g. [1],[2],[3]) to be more standard
compliant, so obsolete parts will be replaced. When the emulation of an
obsoleted construct is no longer needed by the codebase then that emulation can
be removed from the wrappers. So the wrappers will become smaller and smaller
until they can finally disappear.

[1] https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123755
[2] https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123770
[3] https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123754

So in short: please make sure that systemstl/tr1/functional wrapper around the
good standard compliant functional header can work.

Now we are on to figuring out why comphelper's having a linking error. It is
trying to build libcomphelperC52.so, but it cannot find -lstlport_sunpro.

lstlport_sunpro is no longer needed. If the header wrappers were used then the
TR1 standard compliant C++ libraries cover everything that stlport was used
for. Just find the Makefile that is responsible for the -lstlport_sunpro option
and remove it.

I have been using Apache Open Office for a couple of years now.
The I ran a program that would supposed to delete duplicate programs and it
wiped the program off my disk.

Now when I try re-loading Open Office from your site, the thing progresses
to the point of the green bar almost but not quite filling on PREPARING

it or the disk icon in the Windows 7 system tray can be removed unless I

Awful. I wish I could reload it. The program is really competing with

In-between: how well does it work for other open source projects? We
use it at work; Jira as a service is quite fast. But I regard it as
clocking up things that will be used for bogus metrics; I have no idea
if it's actually useful to users or developers.

Here's a ranty blog post about bug trackers and Wikimedia (by a WMF
staffer): http://old.ironholds.org/?p=714

tl;dr all bug trackers suck, because the expectations of developers
and the expectations of users are almost impossible to reconcile; the
workable compromise is something where you have all the data and can
do maintenance if you have to.

A question

2013-09-13 Thread David Stang
For the last several years I have had a need to blast messages to a group of
people. An example might be, A canoe broke loose from its mooring in a
windstorm. And with a database of around 500 property owners a notice needs
to be sent advising this issue.

From the tone of messages, it appears to me that this could be something that
could be easily done with the database AOO has in their package.

I have searched for solutions but have found no way to achieve this outcome.

Is there any possibly someone could develop an application to fill this need?
Might it be something that already exists?

Any thoughts or suggestions/

affiliated with the Apache OpenOffice project., which is surely
nominative use.

Reporting a problem with the OpenOffice website

Hi

Just gone to the main download page for Version 4
(http://www.openoffice.org/download/) and I cannot find the download link. The
links for downloading Extensions Templates takes you to a download page but I
am unable to find the OO4 download.

Here is a screen shot of what I see.

Nice one! Though OpenOffice on its own is someone else's trademark,
so care should be taken in abusing it.

Open Office in England

2013-08-29 Thread David Aherne
Dear Sir,

Is there a version of Open Office 4 with a UK English dictionary, one which
will spell traveller with two Ls, not try to tell me it is spelled with only
one L

There are dozens of words it spells differently, which if I do not spot them
make me look ignorant or worse still American. |:)

Thanking you in anticipation,

Yours sincerely,

David Aherne.

Re: Regarding Rtf to PDF conversion using openoffice

2013-08-28 Thread David Gerard
We actually do DOC to PDF conversion at my work. This involves running
the DOC through OOo 3.2 on the Ubuntu 10.04 server in question. (OOo
3.2 is the Ubuntu distro version, so actually Go-oo; we previously did
the same thing in OOo 3.1 on a Solaris server using Sun OOo.)

We wanted to go directly from RTF to PDF, but the RTF import filter in
any of OOo, AOO or LO was not up to the task of reading the broken RTF
generated by Apache FOP.

The way we do it is to shell out to soffice from a Perl CGI. This is
pretty heavyweight, but the conversion doesn't run very often.

(Apparently you can set up OOo and descendants to work as a daemon,
but we could never get that to work properly.)

know that you have a server problem.
