I would be happy to test the following. I have an iBook /OS 8.6. Please send any additional information. Steven D. If you select one of those modes, this i-bay will not be available via Macintosh file sharing. Trevor, I am going to be putting a wiressless how-to together. Does anybody have any experience/information with using the Lucent WaveLan (Orinoco) Gold cards that they could contribute. [e-smith-devinfo] SMEServer-5.0_Update2-07 fetchmail bug?
Received this message directly (see below). Appears one fetchmail pop-3 bug may still exist in /etc/xinetd.conf. I believe this drills down to: /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/xinetd.conf/50pop-3 from SMEServer-5.0_Update2-07 e-smith-email-4.6.1-05.noarch.rpm Not sure if 50pop-3 is still required and a 50pop3 should be added or if 50pop-3 may be edited without repercusions. It has been reported to me that editing 50pop-3 worked. Note: I do not use fetchmail personally so I can not confirm. Regards, -- Darrell May Hi Darrell, One thing, I believe that the Blades update #2 still leaves one thing that must be corrected. Specifically, the /etc/xinetd.conf file. (See 3) in: http://www.e-smith.org/bboard/read.php?v=tf=3i=7434t=7434). I changed the relevant line to be pop3 instead of pop-3, because I was receiving startmail error from cron. -- Please report bugs to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] (only) to discuss security issues Support for registered customers and partners to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives by mail and http://www.mail-archive.com/devinfo%40lists.e-smith.org

any chance that the Gold and Silver cards setup the same? We just got wireless internet service from prairie i-net and they provide a silver card. They don't support linux but do say they will provide the driver. I installed in in a windows machine because I am currently using my e-smith for a web site development platform and I have a project a little over half done that I don't want to take any chances with. Trevor, Thanks for the links. Right now, I'm just trying to get the PCI Adapter to be recognized (before working with the PCMCIA Card). Ahh, yes... the PCI Adapter. I could not get it to work with my system and wound up returning it and getting the ISA adapter instead. Gordon did some subsequent research and found out that apparently the Avaya/Lucent PCI adapter will only work on systems that have *ONLY* PCI slots. If there are any ISA slots in your system, the PCI adapter will not work. (Or would not at the time Gordon did his research 6 or so months ago.) FYI, there was nothing I had to do to configure the ISA adapter. Just plugged it in and then plugged a PCMCIA card into it. I was concerned that I was going to have to configure isapnp or some other Linux tool... but others have told me that it just basically works as a bridge to the PCMCIA card... I didn't have to do anything other than just plug it in. If you are interested, I can write a howto for 4.1.2 and additional instructions for SME5. That would be great. Re: [e-smith-devinfo] Wireless Options
Tim, any chance that the Gold and Silver cards setup the same? Setup for the Gold and Silver cards is identical except for the encryption keys. Silver supports 40-bit encryption (or is it 64?), Gold supports 128-bit encryption[1]. That is the difference. So when you are using 'iwconfig' to enter an encryption key, the Gold cards can support a longer encryption key. The setup from the Linux side, though, is the same. Regards, Dan [1] Note that this is the WEP encryption that was cracked incredibly easily recently. If you are concerned about security, you shouldn't trust WEP and instead run an additional layer of ssh or IPSEC on top of the cards. -- Please report bugs to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] (only) to discuss security issues Support for registered customers and partners to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives by mail and http://www.mail-archive.com/devinfo%40lists.e-smith.org

One suggestion I have for the dmc-mitel-samba-2.2.1a-2.noarch.rpm is that I think the custom template 10globals should actually be 11passwordChat with just the information necessary to sync the passwords, since this is the only addition that has been made to the 10globals fragment. RE: [e-smith-devinfo] [DRAFT] Samba update HowTo + rpm
I had the same problem initially, but if you set strict locking = no in smb.conf, it ends this problem. I don't know if it breaks anything else, but I haven't noticed any adverse effects. David M. You need wireless-tools-21-0 for kernel 2.2.19, and that's the one on the SME Server V5 CD. It is not installed by default, but there for people to play with. Graeme Robinson [EMAIL PROTECTED] said: One glitch however - I want to use roaming profiles saved to the users home directory but I get this error when I log the user off/shutdown. Yup, the current profiles template is incomplete (ok read incorrect). This is why this Howto was released as a [DRAFT] with the disclaimer that this was absolutely untested by me. I can confirm from reports (thanks everyone) that the dmc-machine-account- create script and 12adduser fragment works. This we already knew as this was taken from posts on the forums/devinfo etc. However to continue, I need knowledgeable samba people to take a deeper look. See what's right, what's wrong, what needs to be added etc. I've been in touch with Greg Zartman and received some info from him already. As he has stated he's got more coming. Thanks Greg. I'm also looking for more contributors and ideas. I'll gather all the info and create a new rpm release as soon as convenient. But just to say it again, this is a DRAFT for non production, devinfo testing use only. Re: [e-smith-devinfo] intel pro100vm doesn't support e-smith 4.1.2

Hi Daley, devinfo is not a technical support forum. The bulletin boards on www.e-smith.org are more appropriate for this sort of question. This card may be supported under the kernel installed with SME Server V5, and I would advise you to upgrade before looking for drivers for the older kernel.
