Well, I'm neither a perl or vbs wiz so I just have to rely on begging. A

You don't need to be a perl wiz to get this working. I just meant if you
preferred _not_ to install perl and you were a VB wiz, it would be easy to
rewrite it in the language already installed on your system.

Now, if you feel like giving this a try, download and install perl from
activestate.com.

- Edit the server, player and path settings in feedmyslim.pl to match your
environment.
- edit the path to the script file in the registry file (eg.
"m:\\feedmyslim.pl") - keep the double backslashes!

- double click the registry file to import it
- right click your music folder

[slim] Re: Can't Create "Tracks" Table with MySQL

2006-02-14 Thread indybrett

It complained about these entries:

url text NOT NULL,
multialbumsortkey text,

I changed them as follows:

url varchar(255),
multialbumsortkey varchar(255),

I have no idea if this is going to cause a problem later on, but the
table created successfully, and Slimserver is now working with MySQL.

Edit: I had already done this before reading your replies. I think
I'll create a second database to test your ideas on as well. Thanks.

[slim] Re: Last.fm question

2006-02-14 Thread rme

Insert the following into C:\program
files\slimserver\server\ir\custom.map under the [common] section

# LastFM skp/love/ban
arrow_right.hold= lastfm_skip
arrow_up.hold   = lastfm_love
arrow_down.hold = lastfm_ban

This will allow your remote to do the following lastfm commands:
press and hold right arrow will issue a skip current song
press and hold up arrow will issue a love current song
press and hold down arrow will issue a ban current song

However, I still run into a problem where sometimes (when the
screensaver has not engaged yet), even though I press and hold the
up/down or right button, it will still first issue a single up/down or
right command, then the press and hold command.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to make sure that the single
up/down/right command does not get issued first?

[slim] Edit Playlist needs Cancel

2006-02-14 Thread Millwood

The edit playlist function on the web interface apparently operates as
follows. Each time you select an entry, modify it, and press add, the
change is immediately committed. Similarly when you delete an entry.

This is pretty unfriendly in the face of finger fumbles. I've been
maintaining manual backup files (hidden from slimserver) of my
playlists.

IMHO, a better interface would cache all changes, and offer commit
changes and cancel as two ways to leave edit mode.

[slim] Re: Announce: squeezeslave 0.4

2006-02-14 Thread cookeal

I have been testing various ways of getting my OLD laptop (166Mhz 80Mb
RAM Toshiba 305CDS) to run as a music player from a remote slimserver.

This is where I am at: I have an XP machine running Slimserver - no
probs. I have a DSL Linux running on the laptop. I can play stuff well
using XMMS and a browser - the only exception being the BBC streams
from AlienBBC (incidentally I still dont really understand why these
wont play if they are being encoded to MP3 at the server end?). I
cannot use Softsqueeze with either the GUI or Headless as the machine
grinds to a slow but sure halt - CPU 100% (have tried various
combinations of jLayer, MP3 Plugin and buffer sizes). Frustratingly I
can get snippets of BBC Radio using this method which tells me that Im
close...I have pretty much given up here though as I think the machine
just doesnt have the guts to run Java.

Now along comes SqueezeSlave which I have been testing over the last
few days - playing MP3's from my collection is VERY responsive compared
to any other method (CPU - 30%) so far although occasionally I do seem
to loose the connection or Squeezeslave stops running. Encouragingly I
have also played some non-BBC stations from AlienBBC although I do get
encode errors showing in the terminal. Suppose I just wanted to
encourage the development of this great app and let you know that for
some of us it may be our only hope! :~) If there is any constructive
feedback I can supply please let me know, bearing in mind that I am
pretty new to Linux and the SS world

Thanks

[slim] MusicMagic Mixer: What do you think?

Do many of you think this is the best option?

Also, can it be used UNREGISTERED or should it be

the registration cost as the software page doesn't
indicate this at all.

[slim] Idle thoughts on multiple users, filtering, etc

2006-02-14 Thread oktup

Hi all

I'm on the verge of ordering my first SB3 (server's built, am now
ripping!) and have been thinking about how to differentiate between my
stuff, my gf's stuff, and the stuff we both have. _'This_thread'
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18164)_ seems to be
along the same lines of what I was thinking... at the risk of
re-treading old ground:

*Collections*. ('Libraries' would work too, but I think 'Collections'
is slightly more appropriate :)

A *collection* is simply a set of songs. I might define:

- "Everything" = All music
- "Oktup's songs" = All music WHERE owner CONTAINS oktup
  (or maybe)
- "Oktup's songs" = All music WHERE filepath CONTAINS music/oktup/

And so on for other users. But there's nothing to stop you creating
collections for other purposes, too, for example:

- "Polite Company" = All music WHERE genre DOESN'T CONTAIN explicit
  AND comments DOESN'T CONTAIN explicit
- "Retroelectro" = All music WHERE year STARTS WITH 198 AND genre IS
  IN electro, synthpop, new-wave
- "So last century" = All music WHERE year BEFORE 2000

So basically, collections are pretty much like Smart Playlists. The
difference being, when you pick one, all songs *not* in that collection
no longer exist (or so it seems). Whereas playlists live 'on top' of
your library, collections 'become' your library.

So, if I go to "Change Collection" on my Squeezebox and select "Oktup's
songs", I can browse around the albums, play random tracks etc, without
ever coming across any of my gf's stuff. If I choose the "Polite
Company" collection, I can hand over the remote and leave the room,
safe in the knowledge that the vicar won't accidentally stumble across
"Killing in the Name Of". And so on.

>From a technical POV, this would be enacted by using views on the
database, eg by issuing a CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW bedroom_squeezebox AS
SELECT * FROM whatever WHERE [my_collection_parameters].

The criteria defined for Collections could also be used to filter
selections at any stage of browsing - in effect, becoming Smart
Playlists. So I might Browse Artists, pick They Might Be Giants, then
choose to 'Filter By' 'So Last Century' (leaving me with all TMBG music
released before 2000), then filter again by 'Polite Company', 'Most
Recently Played' and so on. If I 'over-specify' and end up with no
matching songs, I'll get a notification, and will be backed out a
level. I can obviously step back out manually, if desired, eventually
ending up back with the full set of whatever 'root collection' I had
currently selected.

Similar, but complementary, would be 'ownership' in the security sense,
where every item has an owner(s) and can be made public/shared/private
as appropriate. But I'll stop waffling for now. Does that make sense?
Is it intuitive or rubbish? Any improvements?

At the moment the only functionality is to send tracks to append to the
current playlist on Slimserver, no functionality to see the current
track, pause, skip, move tracks up or down, etc.
However, Musicmagic is so good that even this is an improvement over
the Slimserver web interface - Musicmagic's library can be searched and
sorted much more easily than Slimserver's. It talks to Slimserver via
the CLI, so in time it may have much better functionality.
It can be used unregistered (I forget what restrictions the

Hmm... I'm no DBA neither... I think Berkeley offers advanced methods to
protect your data's integrity in complex transactions where several tables
are used. MyISAM on the other hand is said to be very fast reading its
data (partly because it is lacking the expensive integrity checks?). As I
wouldn't estimate Slimserver a business critical application for me, I
don't care too much about data integrity :-).

Hi NJ,

I've been using Music Magic with slimserver for a couple of months now and &
v. impressed with the results it produces & stability & ease of use within
slimserver.

If like me you like to hear a mix of your music library (nor random), mmm
produces very nice playlists for your, just pic your preffered 'seed song'
press play on you remote for a second, and a mix based on you first song is
generated.

Use it all the time now. Think it cost $30 for the full license, but
theyll give you a trial license to activate the api that's needed to work
with slimserver if you mail them

Re: [slim] Idle thoughts on multiple users, filtering, etc

2006-02-14 Thread ron thigpen
I definitely support your request for some sort of
library/collection/profile system.

In particular, I think the idea of defining collections as some of
filtered specification of the entire database of scanned tracks has
quite a bit of merit.

Whether the filter keys of path, user, or some other attribute such as a
 tag is up for discussion.

I'm not sure there's a clear winner, but I tend to think about this in
terms of paths to music directories. Combine this with the ability to
define profiles(users) and connect profiles to whichever of these paths
they like and I think you've gone a long way to solving this. Some
means of indicating which profile should be active would needed for both
the web and player UI.

Interestingly, these profiles wouldn't need to be defined just for
individuals. They could be defined for moods, styles, periods, party
themes, etc.

There has been discussion of this before, but as the feature is still
pending, I don't think it's out of bounds to continue it.

Some references:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=15651
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=15652

And there are some bugzilla bug IDs for related enhancements mentioned
in those threads.

Implementation of this feature is highly dependent on having a database
that performs well for filtered queries and with multiple concurrent
users. It's likely that some of the delay in getting this out has had
to do with sorting all of those bits first. Getting SS on mySQL should
open up the possibilities.

[slim] Re: MusicMagic Mixer: What do you think?

2006-02-14 Thread Kyle

I think you can use it unregistered for 30 days of unlimited
functionality. It doesn't currently function as a GUI for Slimserver,
but I and others have requested that. What it does best is analyze
your music library and create playlists for you based on tracks you
select. You can choose how varied the playlists will be and whether
transitions will be smooth or jagged. I usually create 100-song
playlists based on a single song or group of songs. It does a very
good job, and I really like the fact that it finds tracks that I would
never think of putting into a particular playlist. It really opens up
your collection for you and allows you to hear things you otherwise
wouldn't. It also automates the time-consuming task of manually
creating playlists.

2006-02-14 Thread Heuer

In the UK we have Sky who actively promote their Sky+ box (basically a
underwhelming version of TiVo), TiVo that has a loyal following and
there are many podcasts and 'listen again' opportunities. The BBC is
heavily promoting DAB radios, all of which include a record function. I
use TiVo for recording radio from the Sky platform and I have a DAB PCI
card in my PC which has programmed record functions.

Basically I do not expect anyone to worry about a few geeks and our

It _would_ be an infringement in some cases. I don't make a habit of
reading terms of use statements, but if you check the one on 'wolfgangs
vault', any saving/copying other than automatic page caching of the
player is expressley prohibited.

I'm not saying don't post your methods, just that the fines for
copyright infringement are extraordinarily high (IIRC 150,000 per

2006-02-14 Thread Pale Blue Ego

There is a nifty, free Windows program called Screamer Radio that
features built-in recording of internet radio streams. It comes with a
bunch of station presets, but it's easy to add your own stations.

It does not do timer recording, but it can record continuously and save
each track as a separate file. For some stations which include the
info, it even correctly names the files for you.

Possibly the best way to use it is to simply hit the record button when
you hear a song you like - even if the song is almost over, you'll get
the full track, due to a large memory buffer.

There is a remote access feature of the API, but it isn't very
practical. For any practical use of most features, you would want
them on the same computer. If MMM detects a slimserver install, you
can right click the play button and choose from a list of slimserver
players. REcent versions have only worked for sending to the first
player in the list, but I believe this is fixed with the released 1.5.

It can be tricky to get these two to play together. As an easy
workaround, I just save the playlist to my playlist folder and then
have Slimserver rescan playlists. Not the quickest method, but it
works if MMM won't send directly to Slimserver.

I believe it is a requirement to have MMM and Slimserver on the same
box. Make sure you are using MMM v1.5, since I think the older version
had problems sending playlists to SB. Also, make sure you have
slimserver running before starting MMM. In MMM, right click on the play
button in gui to select SB. Could also try -slim command line option
when starting MMM.

I am running MMM v1.5a with Slimserver 6.2.1 on Linux and able to send
mixes to two SB3's without any problems. Although, I had no success
with the previous released version of MMM.

BTW, the MMM API service does not have to be running unless you want to
do the mixes from SB remote or gui. I would recommend getting other
pieces working first before running the API service.

Joe :-)

Hm seemingly not. Nevermind, a dirty hack gives me what I need:

Slim/Buttons/BrowseDB.pm line 496 roughly

if (scalar @artists) {

[slim] Can't connect wireless SB on WPA, only WEP!

2006-02-14 Thread dwhitby

Have had couple of SB2's for 6 months or so and love them! Setup on
wireless network was no problem, used WPA security, and been generally
fine since.

Recently the SB displays went black as when Slimserver down or network
connection drops. Usually reboot of router is all it takes.

This time however, I just couldn't re-establish connection. Tried
restart of Slimserver, upgrade to latest release, reboot of router and
upgrade of router firmware - nothing! SB network setup went fine, found
wireless network etc. until they tried to obtain IP addresses. Kept
coming up with IP addresses outside the range usually assigned by
router, and then couldn't 'see' music source or Slimserver.

Trawled through the forums and tried various suggestions, even though
most problems were with connecting to or seeing the network in the
first place, and nothing worked. Only got them to connect correctly
when I change network security from WPA (which I'd been using fine
since I got the SB's) to 128bit WEP. Now working OK, but it's really
bugging me. I use another wireless PC and a tablet, and would prefer to
go back to WPA encryption.

As far as I know, none of the settings on the SB or network had been
changed before the problem ocurred.

Any ideas? Thanks

I am running squeezeslave on gentoo linux, it correctly detects two

I would like to run 2 copies of squeezeslave on one machine, one for

Is this possible?

Also are there any plans for ALSA device support?

If you want the two to integrate (i.e. create a MM mix from within
Slimserver) then I believe they have to be on the same machine.
However, I have the same set up as you (MM on Windows laptop and
Slimserver and music on Linux NAS) and use the following workround:

1. Point MM at network share and let it analyse music.

2. Create and save mix on windows laptop.

3. The problem is that MM sees all the files as "T:/My Music/file" and
Slimserver as "//mnt/share/My Music/file", so the playlists won't work
in Slimserver when I rescan.

4. Answer is to run a quick script that converts the "T:/My Music" bit
to "//mnt/share" and resaves the playlist in the directory that
Slimserver looks for playlists in. I wrote a very basic one, but the
most user friendly I've since discovered is at
http://www.joejaworski.com/m3u/

5. Rescan playlists only in Slimserver, and the MM mix appears there.

A few more clicks for sure, but nothing that bothers me too much. Hope
this helps.

[slim] Re: Can't connect wireless SB on WPA, only WEP!

2006-02-14 Thread dwhitby

Hi

I've got squeezebox 2's, running on a Netgear DG834GT ADSL Router,
Windows XP.

When the SB's stopped working, I wasn't aware of having made ANY
changes any settings, either to the network, SB or slimserver.

In trying to re-establish a connection I upgraded Slimserver to 6.2.2.
When I eventually got them running the SB's automatically upgraded to
firmware version 29.

To be honest, I tried so many steps to get them running again, I'm not
sure which was the most crucial. But when I had finally re-established
connections on WEP, I reset the network and squeezeboxes to the
original WPA setup - I got the same erroneous IP addresses and was
unable to connect to the PC/Slimserver. When I switched back to WEP
everything was OK.

Even when I was trying to solve the problem I was able to check the
network wasn't at fault; my tablet was on the same security settings
and was connecting fine.

[slim] permission problem: opendir failed

2006-02-14 Thread cenzo

it seems that slimserver is unable to use its group privileges.

i start slimserver with an init script, wherein i declare:

--user=slimserver --group=slimserver

in /etc/group i have:

muzak:x:101:slimserver

and in /etc/passwd i have:

slimserver:x:999:999::/usr/local/slimserver:/usr/sbin/nologin

id slimserver yields:

uid=999(slimserver) gid=999(slimserver)
groups=999(slimserver),101(muzak)

and the directory that it fails to open is:

drwxr-x--- 12 tom muzak 296 Feb 14 00:01 muzak

specifically- the log file shows:

2006-02-14 15:43:57.9753 opendir failed: /home/muzak: Permission
denied

Please help. I cannot figure this one out. The server works fine when
the group permission on the directory is changed from muzak to
slimserver. but i really do not want it set that way.

thanks.

Re: [slim] Re: New Videobox version 0.6.2

2006-02-14 Thread Peter van der Landen
I'm afraid it's more of a bug in Windows Media Player or perhaps even in
the ActiveX control.

Videobox basically just does this:

  $wmplayer = Wx::ActiveX::WMPlayer->new( $this , -1 , wxDefaultPosition
  , wxDefaultSize );
  $wmplayer->PropSet("FileName","/movie.mpg") ;
  $wmplayer->Play;

That works for .mpg, .mp3, .avi, etc.

Not much to fix there, me thinks.

I'll probably register MMM soon, but so far I can't figure out how to
use it on Debian. I've grabbed the .tgz file, but I'm unsure where to
extract it, what permissions it needs, and how to run it.

If I extract it to /home/username/Predixis/

then type

/home/userneme/Predixis/MusicMagicMixer/MusicMagicMixer --daemon

I get the message: JAVA_HOME is not set. MusicMagicMixer cannot start

Do I need to run MusicMagicServer or MusicMagicService instead of

I've been using it on XP for some months now and really like it.  It would be nice if it would run as a service rather than an app as i don't use the MMM interface but generate playlists from the slim web interface (or from the SB's).
I've had no issues running it that way.  I tend to generate a pl off a seed song and see what else comes up - it usually points me in the direction of another album.  A great way of getting the most from a large music collection.

It uses the file's last modified date/time. Because of the way it
works, it may be valuable to have a program that can set the last
modified time of files. I have one that's a Windows Explorer extension
that I sometimes use after editing tags. Some programs automatically
preserve the modified time. I think metaflac does this, and IIRC
flac.exe also stamps the same modified date/time on flac files as the
original WAV.

One (welcome) quirk of the NAS and tagging program I use is that when I
edit tags in files stored on the NAS, the last modified time doesn't
change, so I don't have to bother resetting them.

I didn't see anything wrong with the original post, but you certainly
do come off as rude. I think they simply wanted an older version of the
software and you ripped them a new one. By the way, I had to down grade
to a more reliable version of the software also. I've read several
posts about people using Mac OS's prior to Panther on which the new
software is buggy if it works at all.

[slim] Old SLiMP3 - New Squeezebox

2006-02-14 Thread Bonesteel

I just had to say here how happy I am with my new Squeezebox 3, and the
6.2.2 release of SlimServer. I have been a vocal critic at times here
in the past, as I was peeved about drop outs and skips in my SLiMP3
player on the 6.1/6.2.1 Slimserver releases. BUT today was a very good
day. Before my "3" showed up, I gave the 6.2.2 bug fix a run and it
seemed to play nice with the SLiMP3. A few drops, but mostly
responsive enough. Then the "3" showed up.

Wonderful design, wonderful display, simple set up.

Bigger buffer = no drops at all.

XM Plug in (Thanks Phil), and I can stream those stations.

And I have more to explore.

You guys ROCK!

Question: Do you have a 770?

- Got it

FYI--I just checked in a bunch of changes to start using CSS positioning
for page layout. Among other things, this should alleviate wacky page
rendering when you are playing tracks with immensely long titles (e.g.,
Fiona Apple's insanely long 'the pawn..' album, any rap track that
involves the ubiquitous "featuring so-and-so" suffix, anything off of
the David Cross "It's not Funny" album, etc.).

Also, a latent affect of this restructuring is that the skin should
work better on Firefox than it has in the past.

My foray into CSS positioning has been a hair puller, but I think this
is an improvement, and besides, it's a web standard, so it's gotta be
good, eh? ;)

Next big one on my TO-DO is AJAX on the 'now playing' and 'playlist'
pages, which will allow those pages to automatically refresh content
without refreshing the whole page. That should keep me occupied for
quite some time.

cheers,
#!/ben

Sometimes you can, but you shouldn't rely on it.

The database can (and usually does) change formats between releases.

How many tracks do you have? It shouldn't take 10 hours to build the
database unless you have a huge library, a very slow CPU and very slow

[slim] SB display: colomn dots left and right? strange...

2006-02-14 Thread WernerT

On the left and right of the dispay, I see a colomn of dimmed dots. [One
or two vertical lines of dots - w] They seem to flicker somewhat, and
only disappear if that vertical line is used to display text.

I tried other walloutlets (also on another fuse), tried it without
other cables and did upgrade to the latest firmware and slimserver
(Mac). That did not matter Is my SB defective? Or is this a known
feature?

Though the SB is a great product, and I'm willing to accept some loose
ends, the price is too high to gladly step over this problem. After
all, having such a high quality display is one of the sellingpoints of
the SB.

[slim] Buffering and live streams

2006-02-14 Thread Millwood

The comments in the server health page seem to imply that there is
little or no buffering of live streams.

IMHO, this is a mistake if its true. It guarantees that small
connection hiccups will be audible.

Of course, there is no way to "get ahead" with a live stream. If you
buffer, you must delay the start.
But I suspect that an adjustable buffer delay would make live audio
more robust for anyone without a perfect set up. I would guess that a
few seconds would do it for most set ups.

Forgive me if I don't know what I'm talking about - I'm just guessing
about the current design.

[slim] PLAY not working well on remote

2006-02-14 Thread Grimm

SB1 Server 6.2.1

The play button seems very unresponsive but not all the time. When
using lastfm or any internet radio for that matters, PLAY works fine.

When adding one song while browsing thru my music folders (I havent had
time to retag everything) PLAY works fine and plays that one song.

However, when I browse my music folder and try to PLAY a group like Led
Zeppelin (as illustrated in the manual on page 11) most of the time
nothing happens. I'll hit the play button repeatedly, still nothing
happens. Once in awhile it will work and all the albums (only 3! So its
not a lot of music like trying to play everything in my rock folder)
from Led Zeppelin will be added to my playlist.

Every other button works fine and quick and the play button does work
great when wanting to play a single song, internet radio, etc but when
trying to play a group it continues to be unresponsive.

I did a quick search and read about some other folks having a slow
response with their remotes with the newer server software but mines
really not responsive in all aspects, just with the PLAY button and
dealing with adding a whole album or a few albums to the playlist.

It also seems that the + button is just as unresponsive as the play
button under the circumstances stated above.

Any ideas?

Thanks :)

I guess I'm in way over my head. I don't know enough about Linux to do
this. Every answer leads to 6 more questions. I found how to set
environment variables on Google, but there are java directories in
several places and I keep getting "not a valid identifier" when I try
them. What's the $ for, do I put the path in (), space or no space
after the $? I'm sure there's a book that covers this, but the answers
are probably in different chapters!

I know you're trying to create a kind of minimalist skin. But may I

replies to the last few posts:

1. yes, pick up the next nightly build that's made and it will have my
changes

2. I would consider this a very non-essential 'upgrade'. The most
notable improvement is with handling long track names on the 'now
playing' page.

3. it's all good now (thanks, KDF). I had a page called footer.html
that I'd added to the trunk but not committed. pagefooter.html is what
I should have been using anyway. Do an svn update and it should work
fine now.

2006-02-14 Thread Pale Blue Ego

OK after more searching and studying, I finally got the variable set (at
least I'm not getting errors about JAVA_HOME anymore).

But when I start the MusicMagicMixer executable, nothing happens. It's
supposed to launch a GUI, right? I get no errors, but neither does
anything show up the process list as running.

Have been using 0.24 for many hours now and it is all going very
smoothly, no major problems to speak of except not being able to add
various artist CDs easily.

Any chance you could add an album browsing view to it? That would
solve all my problems and I could quit bugging you!! :)

2006-02-14 Thread MeSue

Well, I fooled with it for a while and didn't get anywhere. Can you be
more specific about what I'm supposed to edit in the feedmyslim.pl
file? I assume these lines...
my $localFolder = "d:"; # the folder where the file is stored
from
the client's view
my $serverFolder= "d:"; # dito. from the server's point of view

...but I don't know what is meant by "the file." Anything else besides
that?

And assuming I get the script figured out… will I be able to use it in
the send to menu of MC?

Just wanted to post that the eventual resolution to this was to not run

I take it rhapsody.exe connects to a service on the Internet? If
you're running the SlimServer service under the local SYSTEM account
instead of a user account, that would probably be the reason
rhapsody.exe fails to work. When you launch the executable it runs
under the same account, with the same permissions and same restrictions
as SlimServer.

Re: [slim] newbie question upgrading Slimserver

2006-02-14 Thread Michael Herger

I am a new user of slimbox. When up grading to new versions of
slimserver is it ok to copy the SQL file to a temp location then
replacing it after the new install?

Slimserver will only rescan your collection if there have been changes to
the database structure. It's in these cases where you can't just copy and
replace the file.

But taking backups is still a good idea ;-).

2006-02-14 Thread Fred

MeSue Wrote:

Yes, using the same command that is in the .reg file, i.e.

wperl m:\\feedmyslim.pl --file=\"%L\"

(Of course you should replace m:\\ with the path to the changed version
of feedmyslim.pm (c:/slim/stuff/feedbmzslim.pl), and \"%L\" with
"[FILENAME]" I think from your post.

MeSue Wrote:
> Can you be more specific about what I'm supposed to edit...

First question: is Slim Server running on the same machine that will
execute the script (the media center) ? If yes, then case A, otherwise
B.

my $szServerIP  = "127.0.0.1";

A: no change
B: change to the IP address of the computer running slimserver

my $serverFolder= "d:";

A&B: change to the location of your music library as configured in Slim
Server

my $localFolder = "d:";

A: same as $serverFolder

B: the idea here is that you will send the path to the song file as
seen by your PC, but since SlimServer is running on ANOTHER machine,
the path may be different between the two. That is, if slim server runs
on server with music library on D: but that your local PC mounts this
using U:, when you want to play U:/abba.mp3, the script will change it
to D:/abba.mp3.
In the above example the value here would be "u:".

my $szPlayerName= "mySqueezebox";

A&B: set this to the name of your player.

HTH
