Hey, this is the App Store. You will get to buy it whenever Apple likes
to approve it, not a lot I can do about it.
Price is $9.99 like the iPhone version and since there are no discounts
on the App Store it's the same for everybody. It's not a free upgrade to
the iPhone version, it's a separate App.

Works for me... enter it under Internet Radio > Tune In URL in the web

Re: [slim] is there a way to push audio to the squeezebox?

2010-10-13 Thread SuperQ

The squeeezbox plays music as directed by squeezebox server. It's free
to download and try before you buy. I suggest you give it a try to see
how it works.

There is no direct way for the squeezebox to play an audio input. It
was simply not designed for this. You can however use software like
shoutcast or VLC to create local audio streams. Or you can use things
like this plugin:

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/WaveInput_plugin

A lot of people want to stream terrestrial radio over the squeezebox,
but almost all radio stations these days online streams that are far
superior to their radio stations.

Yeah Media Monkey is just a audio program. Bad advise to scan it. You
just need to know where you put all your music and have that scanned.
MediaMonkey is nice to organize your music and play on your computer
but that's it. You need to tell Squeeze Center where your actual music
is so that it can find it all.

Oh, sending the UDP packages is the easy part. Getting your head around
the server switching logic, changing IP addresses for same servers and
all of that while the app is running is the hard part. Have fun with
iOS4.2, I could almost bet that in another month or so "Turn WiFi On"

that horrid multitasking-taskbar.

Typical GSM mobile signal: 750-2000 mW. Typical WLAN device signal:
20-80 mW. Mobile phones are typically pressed against the side of the
user's head while in use. The signal strength drops rapidly with
increased distance.

In other words, I think cutting down your mobile phone use by one
minute each day, will have a much greater health benefit than
permanently disabling all WLAN devices in your house. Unless you're
sleeping in a pile of them, that is.

brancher

I didn't say I get no requests, but lets say it's roughly 5 in a month

All of them were able to start their Web-UI (thanks logitech to making

Having said that: of course sending out the needed UDP-packages to find
the servers is on my list as well - as is so many other stuff.

Well, if the playlist is accessible via "Playlists" or "Favourites" on
the WebUI, it will probably work in SqueezeCommander.

If you need to use the "Extras" menu, it will not work yet, but that
should also be supported soon, along with support for most other

Yes, SqueezeCommander will work on this device.
You may need to use SlideME, because Android Market is not available
unless you apply some hacks...

Just make sure to take a look at this device before buying it, I've
heard several comments from disappointed users, because the device was
pretty slow and unstable at that point.
But these comments are some months old, hopefully Archos has improved
the Android integration in the meantime...

[The alarm playlist are loaded from the server, i.e. if you can select
the SQL playlist as alarm through the WebUI (http://yourserver:9000),
it should also work in SqueezeCommander.
(How do you set an SQLPlayList as alarm at the moment?)

By not supported, I mean you cannot access the “Extras” menu in
SqueezeCommander, i.e. you cannot e.g. edit a SQLPlayList within
SqueezeCommander, yet.

I have not tried the app on an Archos 43, but SqueezeCommander should
run fine on this device.

AFAIK, Android Market should support paid apps in Belgium now, but if
it does not work, you may also use SlideME:
https://slideme.org/application/squeeze-commander

Christian]

Dear Christian,

Thanks for the explanations!

To set up a SQL Playlist through SqueezePlayer (I use it for test ) or
Squeeze Touch , I check my SQLPLaylist in
"SQLPLaylist->Setting->Favourites".
After this, it is visible in the Alarm menu -> select song.

I don't need to make/edit a SQL playlist with the remote or the
SqueezeTouch. This will be to complicated ( because, I use the custom
command Line to add more functionalities to the SQL playlist ).
I only need to launch them trough the Main Menu : I suppose, it is
possible ?

Finally, I will buy a ARCHOS 5IT 8 GB ( because the price is good and
bigger screen ).
But, I read Archos don't support Android Market, have a bigger screen
resolution and thus not support all Android application...
Is it true ?
Can I buy it ?

FWIW: one reason why controller might be/look faster is that it's

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2010-10-13 Thread Jan Andersen

Just updated SqueezePad
Great with the new playlist, works very fine and interact great with
the controller (sqbox duo)
And very nice to respect the language from the server, now the menus
are in Danish.. :-)
Great job Bluegaspode...

I have mesured some timings when loading artist and album lists both
for SqueezePad and for the controller.
I have 370 albums, 1000 artists and 7.000 tracks.
Loadtime for SqueezePad: Artist 4 sec. and album 1,5 sec.
For the controller the load time is less than 1 sec. for both artist
and album.
So the controller must cache something...

The Squeezebox server (7.5.1) is running on an NAS, ReadyNAS Duo with 1
Gb ram.
Some buffersizes in MySql are changed to speed up things (found another
place in this great forum)

At least when I checked the SqueezePlay code I didn't find any
menu-caching in there.
I also regularly get reports that SqueezePad is faster than the
Controller which wouldn't be the case if the Controller did any caching
of the menus.

> What do you get most questions in e-mails about?
The 'biggest' issue SqueezePad is this one (getting about one or two
mails about it in a week)
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=576983
Though in the meantime it only happens with a Classic on MySB.com, and
only once in the lifetime of SqueezePad as far as I know.

But I'm sure this is not what you were talking about.

If you were thinking of automatic server detection: this doesn't seem
to be a very big problem. Some people struggle with it on their first
time setup but it's rare.

You might be a special case as you have more than one server, where the
current solution indeed is not the most convenient one.
(along with BetaTesters who need to reenter the data if they deleted
SqueezePad before).

Une connexion filaire me
semble préférable. (I am not sure wifi will always offer sufficient
bandwidth to play WAV or FLAC files. I'd prefer a wired connection if
possible.)
optimal. (An amp equipped with remote control and an IR jack plug
allows to control the amp from the Squeezebox. This brings joint power
on/off control and more importantly optimal audio quality, setting the
Squeezebox output to 100% and using the volume control on the amp.)

(In English)
Do not buy a NAS (or other sever) just yet.

1. Install SqueezeBox Server (SBS) on an existing computer, Windows,
Mac or Linux which has a collection of music on it that you want to
play. Set up a MySqueezebox account, and let SBS scan your music
collection (it will ask where you save your music).

2. For the player, I would recommend the Squeezebox "Touch" which has a
colour touch screen and a remote control, as well as the best audio
output. You can add a "Controller" or an iPod Touch with iPeng later if
you need to.

3. The wireless router will be the hub of your system. Make sure you
know the SSID, wireless encryption method and password for wi-fi
connections. However, for best performance, you need to use Ethernet
cable to connect the router to the computer that has SqueeboxServer and
your music collection.

Connect the analogue audio output sockets on the Touch to a set of
analogue inputs on your amplifier. Turn on the amp and the Touch.

The touch will prompt for the SSID and password for your music
collection and you will be up and running!

Once you have got all that working OK, you can then give consideration
to a dedicated SBS server or NAS.

So in brief, for a wireless system, the router connects to the server
using Ethernet and to the player by wireless. You can, of course, also
connect the player to the router using Ethernet cable, which would be
the preferred method if it is possible.

Good luck!

(Google Translation)

Bonne chance!

Hi Sebastian

No problem! I don't get notifications anymore either!

SlimControl seems to work correctly with Triode's Spotify plug-in,
everything just works except that the cover art for the track playing

I've tried the suggestions made buy others in this thread but nothing
helped.

If you want to look into it I'd be happy to help in any way that I

It's still a nightmare, I agree, but there are thousands of people out

Now that's interesting. 12.000 Tracks is about what I have and I would
regard this a small to medium library.
My albums list takes about 10s to load in SqueezePlug. I agree 60s for
artists (which is faster than albums) sounds too long for that.
But there are people with >100.000 track collections out there. I know
of people who run that kind of library from a ResdyNAS.

Good choice. I wonder when you will tackle the other big, big issue
SqueezePlay IMHO has (and which makes me use it almost never due to

This will be a nightmare on any SqueezeBox Device as well, as
SqueezePlay isn't caching as well (to my knowledge).

This particular user says it takes 60secs to load the artist list for a
12.000 track collection. This is 3x the size of my collection and I wait
less than a second and I'm only running on a SheevaPlug.
As this is a huge mismatch for me it looks like he runs on a hopeless
undersized NAS for his collection.

Anyway - enough grumbling.
As said caching was the next thing to do anyway.

I've never measured the temperature but would say it's around about

On a NAS with a big collection loading the albums list can easily take
30min or longer.
You need to cache or to do paging if you want to support these kind of
devices.

As for speed and caching: v 1.5 seems to be considerably quicker than v
1.4, so my former request for caching is not important anymore. I have a
collection of 150,000 songs, 20,000+ artists etc and the artist list
comes very quicly. The 2 star US rating is unbelievable, he must have a
very slow computer! I use a mac mini server and this is much quicker
than even a higher spec'ed windows machine.
