Re: [slim] is there a way to push audio to the squeezebox?
The squeeezbox plays music as directed by squeezebox server. It's free to download and try before you buy. I suggest you give it a try to see how it works. There is no direct way for the squeezebox to play an audio input. It was simply not designed for this. You can however use software like shoutcast or VLC to create local audio streams. Or you can use things like this plugin: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/WaveInput_plugin A lot of people want to stream terrestrial radio over the squeezebox, but almost all radio stations these days online streams that are far superior to their radio stations. -- SuperQ SuperQ's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2139 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82636 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Une connexion filaire me semble préférable. (I am not sure wifi will always offer sufficient bandwidth to play WAV or FLAC files. I'd prefer a wired connection if possible.) (An amp equipped with remote control and an IR jack plug allows to control the amp from the Squeezebox. This brings joint power on/off control and more importantly optimal audio quality, setting the Squeezebox output to 100% and using the volume control on the amp.) (In English) Do not buy a NAS (or other sever) just yet. 1. Install SqueezeBox Server (SBS) on an existing computer, Windows, Mac or Linux which has a collection of music on it that you want to play. Set up a MySqueezebox account, and let SBS scan your music collection (it will ask where you save your music). 2. For the player, I would recommend the Squeezebox "Touch" which has a colour touch screen and a remote control, as well as the best audio output. You can add a "Controller" or an iPod Touch with iPeng later if you need to. 3. The wireless router will be the hub of your system. Make sure you know the SSID, wireless encryption method and password for wi-fi connections. However, for best performance, you need to use Ethernet cable to connect the router to the computer that has SqueeboxServer and your music collection. Connect the analogue audio output sockets on the Touch to a set of analogue inputs on your amplifier. Turn on the amp and the Touch. The touch will prompt for the SSID and password for your music collection and you will be up and running! Once you have got all that working OK, you can then give consideration to a dedicated SBS server or NAS. So in brief, for a wireless system, the router connects to the server using Ethernet and to the player by wireless. You can, of course, also connect the player to the router using Ethernet cable, which would be the preferred method if it is possible. Good luck! Hi Sebastian No problem! I don't get notifications anymore either! Yes I am still interested in this. SlimControl seems to work correctly with Triode's Spotify plug-in, everything just works except that the cover art for the track playing doesn't show up (actually I see a distorted SlimControl logo where the cover art should be).
