Re: [slim] Rebuffering problems AFTER a Win 10 update
Given that this ppears to be a recurring issue, I thought I would just note how I solved it (for the moment, of course - nothing is absolutely for ever with networking or any software, actually!) The issue started after I had an update for Win10, after a considerable period during which I had two Touchs, plus sometimes a Duet and of course Squeezelite-X running quite perfectly in all respects, so far as I could tell. Having read my way through tons of threads, and having received specific advice from Apesbrain, I also found this from sgmlaw on another thread .. - 'One of the best things you can do in any server-based environment is assign a fixed local IP address to the server machine itself. This will make the clients' job much easier going forward, especially those that NV cache networking settings through reboots and updates. Everything they need is always at the same local address, every time, without fail. LMS is no different in this regard. Our SB clients can always locate the server, with the occasional exception of our Receiver, which occasionally balks at a final connection without intervention from the Controller. While we use DHCP for clients that are constantly logging on and off, all major static network resources (always-on elements such as servers, NAS and other data hubs, printers and switches, etc,) get static addresses. You will have a much more trouble-free network environment if the major pieces are always in the same place. Place these static resources out of the assigned DHCP range, and even the most poorly designed DHCP server can handle it. You will rarely need 'finder' apps to hunt down moving resources again. After decades of networking, this is the best way to do it. ' I already had the server machine assigned a reserved IP address, so I just added reserved addresses for the Touchs (and the printer too) & also updated LMS to the latest overnight build - (7.9.2 - 1545144292 ), noting that there where some possibly siginificant performance efficiency enhancements in 7.9.2 over 7.9.1. One of my Touchs was also extremely closely positioned next to a large soundbar underneath the TV, so that may also have affected the system. Fingers crossed, heavy duty FLACS are now playing everywhere without any rebuffering at all!! Thank you to all the helpers on this forum - your expertise & common sense are absolutely invaluable! Re: [slim] Rebuffering problems AFTER a Win 10 update
Frustrating. Some things I'd try: - Unsynchronize all players and see if better with just one playing - Turn off everything; restart in order starting as far upstream as possible, e.g. ONT/gateway or cable modem. Let each device fully start before moving on. Touches should be last - Re-read the Orbi manual and be sure it's configured properly, i.e. if using it with a gateway, the gateway wireless should be disabled and the Orbi set as "access point" - Change your wireless channel: 1, 6, or 11 - Update to current LMS nightly build - Run System Restore to reset your server to before the recent update. Not sure what a Windows Update would have done to cause this issue. More likely it is something about the Orbi interaction with your network that has now decided to act up. Does your server have a reserved IP address? Always a good idea. Are SqueezeliteX settings (output device and server IP) still good? [slim] Rebuffering problems AFTER a Win 10 update
Has anyone seen this happening?? I have two Touchs synchronized with Squeezelite-X and sometimes Squeezeplay (using USB output to a Modi DAC, thence to an amp etc) .. the Touch's have always worked perfectly on wi-fi through my Orbi + one satellite, so long as I ensure that both Touchs are connected via the Satellite. I also sometimes run a Duet too Much of my library (>50k tracks) are FLAC but absolutely none are high-res at all. All FLACS I rerip to 16/44 through sBpoweramp regardless of what they come as .. but every single FLAC file now rebuffers constantly. Album art is normally set to 1000x1000 in size, always quite low res JPG. LMS Version is: 7.9.1 - 1522157629 & both Touchs firmware are up to date, so far as I know. I have run this set up for ages & ages & have not had any issues at all, so long as the wi-fi connected players are not connected through the base router itself, but through the Satellite. Congestion at the main router can be an issue with the Orbi. Nothing has changed at all in the system apart from the Win 10 update - and it was just a series of 'Quality Updates' - see the image attached. Does anyone have any idea where I can look to sort this out?? Networking always confuses the hell out of me, but I haven't been a techie for many, many years! I thought the LMS server log might be useful but can find nothing at all about wireless conections etc in there .. +---+ |Filename: Win Updates.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=26345| +---+ sherington's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2587 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109933 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Yes, I also realized that the 5GHz idea was nonsense, since none of the Squeezeboxes supports that. Ethernet over powerline could be option. Thanks for bringing that up, garym. What I did to day, as a start, was move the SB Touch a couple of metres so that I could connect it to the router via (real) Ethernet, at least temporarily. Turns out that the rebuffering issue is gone. Probably because it SB Touch is now closer to the Router (i.e. Wifi access point). But it could also be that the speakers chose a better frequency, for some reason (perhaps because the Xeo transmitter is now also closer to the access point?). For anybody experiencing more serious issues with this kind of setup, I'd like to point you to 'this addendum to the Xeo manual' (http://www.dynaudio.com/int/xeo/XEO_OwnersManualA.html). It explains how you can set your speakers to use a fixed frequency. Unfortunately, Dynaudio does not tell us exactly what frequencies the speakers are capable of using and how to set them. So if anyone figured that one out, please post. get.amped wrote: > > Edit: on the other hand you can afford those speakers so the cost of the > WAPs is probably just noise... No, I would never buy those speakers at their recommended selling price and not even at the current sale price. I was lucky to get them used for less than half of their original selling price. garym wrote: > Also note that using the 40Mhz bandwidth can sometimes create *more* > problems. Good point. I just followed the advice provided 'here' (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2405996,00.asp). I wonder, though, if setting your router to 40 MHz alone already creates more interference or whether you actually need to fully use it, which is probably only the case at certain critical moments. But since my rebuffering issue seems solved, I'll switch it back, since there are at least 20 wifis in my area. *Server*: LMS 7.7.3 on a ReadyNAS Ultra 2 *Players*: Radio, Touch, Duet (Receiver & Controller), Boom, Squeezeplayer on iPad 2 *Remote control apps*: iPeng (iOS), SqueezePad (iOS), Squeezecontroller (Android) *Important plugins*: Trackstat, Spicefly Sugarcube, Lazy Search Music, Switch Player, SmartMix, Custom Browse chaug's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=47641 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101272 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

In my case I've quite clearly identified wifi interference as the source of the trouble. More specifically, its my new Xeo wireless speakers that are causing the trouble. Also, when getting rebuffering, you might see if if is related to a synched player. I was getting some rebuffering on my transporter, and realized it was caused by my RADIO (wifi connected) which happened to be synched to the Transporter at the time. *Location 1:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Location 2:* VBA 3TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.8 > Squeezelite *Spares:* several Touch, Radio, SB3 *Controllers:* iPhone4S & iPad2 (iPeng7 & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101272 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

My last full rescan is not that long ago (couple of weeks) so I doubt that that will change things. But I'll try anyway. Re: [slim] Rebuffering problem with wireless network....
Thank you for your suggestions. Before I read them I was thinking how odd it was that the second closest player to the router had a signal strength of only 20% and others much further away were much stronger. So I did a little test and turned it off. Violaeverything else worked as it should. I then realised that this Touch player was also connected wirelessly to its speakers. Clearly that was interfering with the router signal. I moved the player from its position to see if I could get a stronger signal. Got it to 75% strength by moving it marginally. That made the difference and I've now had no buffering for about an hour. I might well have fixed the problem. *_Another_issue__*you might be able to help me with is with settings. I have one player that is named 'unnamed controller'. When I choose 'settings' in LMS and choose the 'player' tab I get this message '404 Not Found: playerid=00:04:20:27:0a:d3' and nothing else. I used to be able to change the name of the player by going into this tab. Re: [slim] Rebuffering problem with wireless network....
With such long delay and all the players are synced , I would guess that one player may be the cause (the alternatives could be a server / network overload or dying router) and so you may need only to "fix" one player. I suggest try to get a scenario where rebuffering happens predictably and then run a series of tests, repeating the scenario but taking one player out of the sync group for each test. If rebuffering goes away on one of your tests when a specific player is not in the sync group then check he player to see what is the problem. If rebuffering does not go away - look for some more systemic such as server or network overload. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101768 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Rebuffering problem with wireless network....
Is the NAS wired to the network if not do that you cut the load in half . 20% is not good , as you see when syncing the player with worst wifi would ruin it . There are countless treads on this forum on how to trace wifi problems , read them a lot of good hints . Having many neighbours with wifi ? Re: [slim] Rebuffering problem with wireless network....
Are all the Squeeze devices wireless? What music format is going over your network, FLAC, WAV, MP3? I think WAV would be most taxing and MP3 would be the least. What about the 7 cameras, are they live video and wireless? If the answer is yes, I'd start shutting off cameras. If you get to where all the cameras are shut down and still have the rebuffering then you know your cameras aren't overloading the network causing the squeezes to be rebuffering. I'm sure others will chime in here too. 2 Duets - 1 for upstairs and 1 for downstairs Rock Solid with LMS 7.8.0 and WHS 2011 w3wilkes's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22973 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101768 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Rebuffering problem with wireless network....
I am running 6 synchronized squeezeboxes (3 Touch, 3 Radio) on a wireless network through LMS on a current (fast) Readynas NAS. I am getting constant rebuffering ( can range from a few seconds to a minute) to the point that its completely unusable. This occurs irrespective of whether I am using my local library or internet radio streaming. Signal strength ranges 100% to 20% (strangely the 20% is second closest to the router). I have tried a complete power cycle of the router and squeezeboxes but that hasn't helped. I am also running 7 Logitech Alert security cameras but my limited understanding is that they should not be causing interference. I have tried to eliminate other issues such as microwave etc but still have the problem. I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions as I need to get it working for a important function next week. Thank you in advance. morthan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30644 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101768 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

It's worth doing every so often when re-buffering starts occurring. After the time when the clocks change you can often get a bit of rebuffering activity with LMS, so do the re-scan and see if things improve. [slim] rebuffering problem
This afternoon I started getting frequent rebuffing on my Touch; this unit is connected via ethernet directly to my main router and there was not any other significant network activity. I tried stopping and starting LMS (I am running 7.8) but the problem persisted. I'm listening to ALAC files; this has not been a problem before. When I have had rebuffering issues in the past it has been temporary, and always with online services over WiFi. I have never had issues playing local music. I'd be grateful for any diagnostic or troubleshooting tips... cjfreitag's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41363 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101272 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Rebuffering nightmare
After years of joy, for a couple of months I have had this problem. Music (wether streaming or local files) plays for two, or five, or even twenty minutes - and then the Sqbox 3 cuts off, goes blank for a couple of seconds and then automatically restarts, showing the Logitech logo, etc., as if it had just been plugged in, and resets automatically, with the screen finally showing whatever was playing - but stopped. If I then press Play it resumes that radio station, or local file, it was playing before cutting off. Now the interesting facts: in happens with both ethernet and wireless connections, and it happens if I take the Squeezebox to a friend's home and connect to the internet through his network!!! So it happens anywhere, frequently and randomly. Right now I am listening to The Penthouse Radio and the last time I had to hit "Play" was 17 minutes ago - I am expecting it to go down any minute now I wonder if it could have something to do with the Sqbox power supply?! I run LMS v. 7.7.3 on a MacBook pro. But again, it happens also with my squeezebox.com. fsoares's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4199 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100272 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Rebuffering nightmare
Hi. I'm going to jump in this thread and share that after several years of stability, I'm getting rebuffering on my system now, mainly streaming services (NPR) but also with Flac files streaming locally. One radio in my bathroom is less than 10 feet away from my router and I get rebuffering of local Flac files and streaming NPR. I'm aware that this means that likely that there is some new Wi-Fi nearby that is interfering. What would be the suggested algorithm for troubleshooting this problem? Re: [slim] Rebuffering nightmare
Not really. too many options. Many NAS units seem to be over priced (particularly ReadyNAS). There are lots of choices these days. Be careful to get one with an x86 chip (the old readynas duo did NOT have x86 chip). And some of the newer readynas units are powerful enough but don't easily run LMS. Search these forms for "NAS Suggestion" or "NAS Recommendation" and you'll see some discussions. Not all NAS units will run LMS. So get some confirmation from the forum before buying. I use vortexbox appliance from "small green computer" as a NAS. Very powerful, very open for tinkering (if one wants). and you could install the free vortexbox operating system on any old desktop or laptop you have sitting around and use that. for the desktop you don't need monitor or keyboard. You access the computer running VB from any other computer on your network via a browser and a webGUI. p.s. Even with my old readynas duo that was way underpowered, I didn't have a buffering problem. It was painfully slow when scanning my music library or browsing by artist or album, etc. But actual *playing* of the files was just fine (although I wasn't playing any 24/96 files). Re: [slim] Rebuffering nightmare
You could also attach a switch to the router and all stuff to the switch and then the actual traffic with local files goes trough the switch and router only handle DCHP and Internet . As long as NAS and players got their ip subnet dns etc correct , it will work . Btw check the ip of server and players . It would also be easy to check CPU load on the NAS ,use ssh and run the top command . It could be a pending disc failure . The player and server are truly wired with Ethernet , no power line adapters or similar ? The player. Was it previously on wifi ? Did you redo the network setup after wiring it ? It does not become wired just by putting in the cable you must do the network, setup to use it . If you use LMS web-UI and go to settings - information and player shows its wifi strength it is using wifi . Re: [slim] Rebuffering nightmare
Is the touch connected directly to the router or is it in a different room with ethernet cables in the wall. If the latter, before replacing the router, I'd move the touch temporarily near the router and connect it to the router directly. So you'd have the touch and NAS connected directly to the router. Maybe replace the ethernet cables. cables and cable ends can go bad. And don't sync. Then see if you get buffering then using the Touch. If you do, then the router might be the issue. If you don't then it may be something between the router > ethernet cabling > touch in other room. Also, when you say connected via ethernet, it is actually ethernet connection or is it something like "ethernet over powerline" or MoCa (ethernet over cable)? Are there any intermediate switches involved? then again, if you router is more than 2 or 3 years old, you can likely get a much better router for a cheap price anyhow. *Location 1:* VortexBox (2.2) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Location 2:* VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.8 > SqueezePlay *Spares:* VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100272 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Not really you can easilly convert your 24/192 files to 24/96 with some mouse clicks with suitable software and use those copies on your server and keep the original as backup somewhere . One thing to check in the LMS settings is the file type settings, flac file can either be sent as flac files and the Touch does the decoding, or LMS can do the decoding and send PCM to the touch. Try it both ways and see which works better. I'm on vacation right now so I don't have an LMS handy to tell you exactly what the settings are, but there are others here that can help with that if you can't figure it out on your own. One thing we do know is that many of the online sources compress their files with level 8, the highest compression ratio, which takes more horsepower to decode. And the fact that you've been using them and have no problem points to something else. It seems: 1. only happens with your 24/96 files (more of a strain on network) 2. your NAS and TOUCH players are all wired via ethernet (so no WIFI involved) 3. All worked ok in the past with same files and NAS. This leads me to believe that something is going wrong with your router, any switches you are using, or even an ethernet cable. Switches/routers can have particular jacks go bad. Cables can go bad, etc. And maybe it takes the hires files to "stress" the system and make the problem appear. You can test the readynas, by plugging in a laptop or something to your router. Install LMS on the laptop, put some files on it, including hires, and stream to your touches. Still get buffering? If so, not the readynas fault. No buffering? Then I'm curious about the readynas (although it could still only be the switch, router, cables at that point) *Location 1:* VortexBox (2.2) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Location 2:* VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.8 > SqueezePlay *Spares:* VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100272 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I can see how things might buffer with 24/192 files (as the readynas duo is woefully underpowered (I have one) and it has to do the work to convert the 24/192 to 24/96 so the Touch can play it. I wouldn't expect buffering with the 24/96 given that no conversion is being done (and everything is wired with ethernet). *Location 1:* VortexBox (2.2) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Location 2:* VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.8 > SqueezePlay *Spares:* VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100272 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Some basic information would help. What are you running LMS on (computer, NAS, one of your Touches)? Are any of your connections, particularly the server, wireless? If you're running LMS on a computer, what are the other demands on the computer? If wifi is any part of your equation, note that some things could affect your setup that you may not notice at first, such as a malfunctioning microwave oven, a new wireless router in the neighborhood, etc. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100272 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Hello, I have a Squeezebox system running on wifi thru a Timecapsule with 3 airport express units extending the network. I have a Vortexbox with 1Gb RAM, with almost 2TBs of FLAC files. My 8 clients are a Transporter, a Touch, and 6 Radios. I recently switched Vortexboxes and to a 2TB unit. I am experiencing significant rebuffering issues, about every 10-20 seconds. Occasionally it causes the Transporter to freeze and have to be reset. This only happens when I am streaming my local collection, not on Pandora. I am running the most recent version of LMS on the Linux based system. I posted at the Vortexbox forums and was advised that it was most likely a network issue. I do not think that is the case, as I never experienced any issues before, and do not experience them with Pandora. I realize that Pandora sampling is lower, but it seems that there is some sort of incompatibility or hardware issue. I have reset everything, reloaded LMS and even reset the timecapsule and the Expresses. Sorry for not repling sooner. Neighbours went away the other week and everything got better. As it's a night-time problem I'm blaming their baby listeners :) Doesn't help that my SB Classic is right up against next doors wall I guess. I think the issue was limited to FLAC files, probably just due to their size. Thinking about it, YouTube vids used to hang in the same room on my old laptop as well. Could be related. Still, the WiFi tool was interesting and my router runs Tomato, so I was able to boost the power (but not too much), which I believe has helped. -- Fiddlesticks Fiddlesticks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=26686 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88706 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Rebuffering Problem - Squeezebox Classic
I'd say the most likely cause is wifi interference. It could be a neighbor's new router, or old router switched to a different channel that collides with yours. Or cordless phones, or a baby monitor, or microwave oven. Any of those could easily interfere with one of your wifi devices (eg, the SB3/Classic) and not the other (eg, the Boom). The "80% network" is an average figure that often doesn't capture interference. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88706 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] "Rebuffering" when adding music to Now Playing
Just in process of moving a Squeezebox2 (Firmware 40) from my cottage to my house. Functioned great for many years, in a very straightforward wired/router network, with SBS and MyMusic on a Mac. For my home network, I have a new install of SBS 7.5.2 on a good sized desktop with not much of anything else running on it, XP SP3. The PC is connected to a 4-month-old DSL service-provided 2Wire router via 200 MB Powerline Network Adapters. The adapters' status shows excellent transmission strength. MyMusic is on a Time Capsule attached to the router, which is used as a NAS (and as a WAP). The SB2 is connected to router via ethernet, so the whole stream is essentially wired. Music streams just fine. With player display set to show Buffer, it stays at 99-100%. However, when I add even a single new song, a second or two later the buffer drops way off, and sometimes even stops playing to rebuffer. If I add a whack of songs (say the whole Zeppelin library) it will almost always have stop playing and rebuffer (sometimes several times), as it adds songs. Music is mostly MP3, some AAC. Have tried with various songs/albums/artists to eliminate specific files as an issue. Frustratingly, this appears to happen most times, but not all the time, sometimes adding musinc doesn't seem to affect buffer at all. Between the hardwiring and the buffer status when playing, I don't think it is a network issue. Based on symptoms, I would have suspected an issue with the player (if the buffer can hold a minute or two of music, why would music drop out during the few seconds it takes to add music to Now Playing?) but there has been no changes to the player firmware, etc. SBS version is a possibility I guess, as it was never an issue in old environment. I have cleared cache and reset preferences, and rescanned library (took 4 hrs for ~14,000 songs). Still the issue. I am going to experiment with a couple of things to try to isolate (older SBS version, temporarily replace the powerline leg with cable) but would appreciate any input on other things to look for. Maybe some new Add-ins are causing some issues? Transcoding (I think both MP3 and AAC are set to native). Also very willing to check/provide logs, etc. if told what to look for. A potential workaround is to sync music onto the PC so the server and My Music are on the same computer, but I would then be complicating things, and I think the systems should work as I've described... I had the same problem and the cause was a conflict of wireless channels in my neighbourhood - specifically right next door. Whenever the porn got fired up next door, my transporter would rebuffer ;-). THere is probably an app that came with your wireless card that will do a "site survey" - basically it'll tell you what networks it sees on what channels. Run that program and find a channel that's not used or has low power on it. THen you'll have to log into your wireless router and change the channel to that one. Hopefully you'll also find that the current channel is one that there is one or more strong local interferers on. I'd say try this first anyhow - it can only help, even if it's not the primary cause of your rebuffering issue. You may also have to re-do this occasionally as people who live near you add wifi networks. -- wayne325 wayne325's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29916 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80511 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
