Re: [slim] Squeezebox remote control problem
Look at the remote's LED through a digital camera. You should see the LED glow on the camera's screen when you press a button. If it doesn't glow, try wiggling the batteries & the LED & see if it does. Chances are it's just a duff connection on either the battery terminals or the LED itself. Both easily rectified with basic soldering skills. -- rbz5416 rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89743 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Not only wifi phones, but also non-phone devices like the iPod Touch. I think that Logitech would have a hard time coming (late) to market with a single-purpose device that would likely cost more than multipurpose devices. Look at the cost of the Harmony remotes, which have the touchscreen but don't do wifi. I haven't been following the Logitech Revue developments, but even that new remote (Harmony Link) seems IR-based rather than wifi. The blog post by a Logitech VP saying -"If you have a device that uses a remote control, chances are that it uses IR."- also makes me think Logi's not going to be pushing new wifi remotes soon, touchscreen or otherwise. (see http://blog.logitech.com/2010/06/04/a-peek-under-the-hood-google-tv-and-logitech-harmony-link/) A little further from "home", not long ago Sonos introduced a single-purpose remote that fits your description and also released a free iPhone app. I'd love to know which of those is more popular among Sonos users. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80535 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Squeezebox Remote
I was sitting last night listening to my Touch on my main system thinking about how I would like my Squeezebox Touch to work with my life style. I think that there should be a battery powered remote with the touch screen capabilities of the Touch and the size (or bigger) of the Touch as the wifi remote for a duet style component box that housed all the workings of the Touch. It would also be nice if the box was able to put out video to a display if available. This way you could use it at the listening position or in the backyard as long as your wifi signal was strong enough to control the unit. It could be a nice feature at a party where everyone has access to the music available on the host's computer or wifi system. Just think out loud. Re: [slim] Squeezebox Remote - "Please Wait"
Hello! Yes, the Controller (or SBC for SqueezeBox Controller as it is more familiarly known on the Forum) does go into suspended mode and usually takes a while to recover. You can disable this by going to Settings->Advanced->Factory Test->Power management. Here you can set the Sleep and Suspend timeout somewhat longer than default. The values are seconds, so the maximum Suspend timeout is one hour. It's even possible to disable Suspend altogether. Be aware that the battery will run flat if you leave the Controller outside of the cradle with Suspend disabled. I'd guess most Duet users here have tweaked these settings to get the Controller into an usable state. What you experienced and described clearly isn't quite that. Server performance doesn't affect this behaviour. I'm sure you'll grow to love the SqueezeBox! -Skinny -- Skinny This sentence says less than a list of audio equipment. Re: [slim] Squeezebox Remote - "Please Wait"
A power saving feature in the remote (controller) is that it will sleep after a certain amount of time. This is what is happening. [slim] Squeezebox Remote - "Please Wait"
Hi people, I just bought a Squeezebox Duet, and store my music on a Synology DS210j NAS box. Whenever I pick up my remote (after leaving it down for a while) the diplay says "Please Wait" for about 60-90 seconds, before I can start navigating the menus. Why?? I have tried running Squeezebox Server on a (fast!) PC, and it did not help any. (I was afraid my Synology was maybe too slow). I am running on a wide open wireless network, reception is fine on the remote, around 70-80%. So I'm wondering why the long "wakeup" period. Any ideas for tuning or tweaking my setup? [slim] Squeezebox remote to change the channel on DVB-S satellite radio card?
Does anyone have suggestions as to how I might arrange to have the Squeezebox remote change the channel on my DVB-S satellite radio card? Not having an Onkyo remote I can't say. But make sure the JVC DVD player remote codes are being used through SlimServer by going to Player Settings - Remote and making sure the jvc_dvd box is checked. However, this is its default setting, so that may not help. Does the remote have a learning capability? That's the only other option and one that I had to use for my Marantz RC1400 (incidentally, it's not because the code wouldn't work, it's because the DVD player input was already being used and that manufacturer code could not be applied to other inputs). [slim] Squeezebox Remote Control Question
Hi - I am trying to program a third party remote (onkyo) to use to control basic functions of the SB remtoe. I have tried the JVC DVD code 0623 and the Squeezebox code 0533 and neither work. Can anyone tell me if these are the correct codes? i have only seen them referenced in other posts but could not find them in the faq or other documentation. I have checked player settings and both these remotes are checked under the 'remote' section. I am using 6.2.1 with the latest Squuezebox. Any suggestions?
