Re: [slim] iPeng, Squidgy or Squeezemote?

I bought an IPOD Touch just for this app. I love it! Thanks.

Future release request - Please utilize amazon or cddb or something to
pull the album art and lyrics for each song. I have most my music
tagged with album art but it would be great to have it pulled off the
net.

A great example of this is the sirius app Starplayr.

I've had reports from somebody using Squeemote complaining of the same
problem (could even be the aforementioned poster). I'm not really sure
how it could be anything to do with my app though unless its something
to do with the persistent CLI socket connection.

Re: [slim] iPeng, Squidgy or Squeezemote?

2009-03-01 Thread nanckekr

Thanks Luke Pippin for your replies.

I have investigated this a bit further. I see the wifi icon
disappearing on the sqeezemote as well as on another remote application
called Touchpad Elite. However, I have no problems running the safari
browser on the iphone for hours and hours. It never looses connection
and the wifi icon remains there at least for the 3 hours I have tried
to stress test it.

I have tested on two different access points, one from linksys and
another from d-link. The behavior is identical - safari works perfect,
but the custom installed applications are victim to drop out of the
wifi icon.

Could it be that there is some system call that the custom build
applications will have to do to prevent this?

BR,
Anders

Not as far as I'm aware; as I said before, the only thing that I can
think would be causing it is the persistent connection it opens to the
CLI.

Have you tried Apple's own Remote app? If not, could you give it a try
(set it to persist the connection to itunes) and see if you see
something similar.

Re: [slim] iPeng, Squidgy or Squeezemote?

2009-02-28 Thread nanckekr

I have an iPhone 3G and purchased the squeezemote application. I like it
very much, but I am experiencing random wifi dropout where the wifi icon
disappears from the iPhone and obviously then I loose connection to the
server.

Hence I am unable to use this as a remote control due to the
unreliability of the wifi connection.

I was wondering if any of the other iPhone remote application users are
experiencing similar problems? My dropouts come randomly, and can be
while I am in fact using the application. It can come 5 minutes after I
start the application, but will appear within 30 minutes for sure. I
have tried with two different wifi access points and two different kind
of remote control applications (squeezemote is one of them).

Could this be a hardware problem on my iPhone 3G?

Typically, it's the AP.
iPhone is quite sensitive about power saving routers, my old LinkSys
gave me lots of trouble, I'm not seeing his whith my newer AVM one
anymore.

If it's the WiFi-Icon it's highly unlikely the app has anything to do
with it.

Receiver is self upgrading, and with the latest bunch of fw for the SB3

The SBR will basically upgrade itself. I installed 7.3.2 yesterday and
one SBR did it by itself. The other was blue and when I unplugged it
and plugged it in again it went through the colors and then started
updating itself (gray flashing light?). After a few minutes it went
dark and when I checked the status on the web it was at the current
release (58).

Kind of.
With your IR remote, you can set an option to automatically download
firmware updates.
I'm not sure (maybe somebody else can tell) but I believe the SBR will
always do FW updates automatically (no IR).

That is the case with my SBR. Actually I would prefer to be able to
disable this (just on principle, I prefer not to have my devices change
their software without asking me) but there is no option for user

Re: [slim] iPeng, Squidgy or Squeezemote?

2009-01-10 Thread Pascal Hibon

I read through the provided links and from all the information I
understand that all three are good applications with their pro and
cons. Since iPeng in the oldest application I guess this is also the
most mature application. It has gone through the initial bug fixing
phase. This is one of the reasons why I choose to purchase iPeng.

The application works very well, is very nice, and has an easy to
understand and use interface. From the couple of days I’ve playing
around with it I found that it would be nice to have some additional
features:

1) Add the capability to shuffle songs. This is the mode I use mostly
with my SB in the living room.
2) Add the capability to configure the alarms. I use that in the
bedroom.
3) Add an option in the settings to disable auto lock. This way the
remote won’t switch off all the times.

Are these already on the roadmap or do you think you could implement
them in one of the next releases?

The shuffle mode is there today, you can select it from the

NowPlaying - just like in the iPod application.
Random Mix will be in 1.1

I don't yet know whether Alarms will be in 1.1 or 1.2 since I don't yet
know how much own code they will require.

taken for them to actually apply.

The current policy is that I will not rule out anything for the future
since that would not be honest (you never know) but foreseeable updates
will be free.
I have one specific update in mind that would require an additional
payment since this would involve purchasing a certain license which I
can not stem myself, but that's probably a while off if it comes at
all.

This is also the general policy on the App Store. Currently you can NOT
take additional money for upgrades, if you want to do such, you will
have to sell the update as a different product.

So, for short: the next iPeng updates will be free, I committed to all
1.x versions.
