working! The Server log is not diplaying anything related to last.fm.
Perhaps someone can tell me how to enable some last.fm-logging.

Or how can i find out whats wrong?

Settings - Advanced - Logging - (plugin.audioscrobbler) - Last.fm
Audioscrobbler set it to debug.

I moved from 7.7.3. to 7.8 and Last FM scrobbling is still working fine.

Are you using the server software on the PC? There is builtin plugin
that scrobbles? On browse interface go to settings \ advanced \ last.fm
audioscrobbler and enter your details there. Then go to the settings of
each player and make sure that scrobbling is enabled. It does seem
that there is no last.fm app on mysqueezebox, and therefore not
available on the player directly.

But is the Scrobbling part of Last.fm not freely available? I can
already use this on my other squeezeboxes including the Touch when it

I am not looking to set up a Last.fm subscription but to scrobble my
played tracks to Last.fm when I use the Touch server (USB)

I have scrobbled for over 4 years now (66000+ tracks)
I've recently started using the Touch (USB) as a server which I can
attach my other squeezeboxes to and I don't need to run my pc at all.
I can leave this on 24/7 without feeling that I am contributing to
global warming.
Brilliant, apart from the frustrating bit that the tracks played do not
scrobble to Last.fm
As garym pointed out, it just may not be possible to do

Yes you should definitely install this plugin. Sorry, I assumed you had
this. Not sure why you don't see last.fm in your app gallery but it
could be your country.

Ps. I'm a big fan of using SbS on a computer, NAS, etc that is on 24/7.
Too many low power use options for this now not to be a good option for
many folks. Your computer could be the size of a paperback book
sitting next to your router without the need for a monitor or keyboard.

I guess I'm really confused at this point.

1. In SbSSettingsplugins tab, you can install a PLUGIN (not an
applet). This is called last.fm audioscrobbler (v. 1.0). Once this is
installed, you click to the right of the plugin on settings Plugins
tab and enter your last.fm account name and password. And within SbS
Settings Player tab you can set each player to scrobble or not.

2. In mysqueezebox.com, there is a last.fm app in app gallery (at
least for me). I can add this to my apps. I'm not even sure if this
is what gives me last.fm scrobbling in mysb.com because I don't actually
ever use mysb.com. But within mysb.com, if I look at players, there is
an option to scrobble or not for each player, and I just assumed this
is because I've added the app for last.fm to my apps. I could be
wrong about this.

3. I have no knowledge about any applets related to last.fm. They may
very well exist, but I haven't had to use them to get scrobbling with
last.fm. But again, I use SbS on 24/7. Likewise, I don't know how any
of this works or doesn't work with using tinySbS within the Touch
itself. I view tinySbS as a stripped down server and I suspect many
things don't work with TinySbS by design. last.fm scrobbling may be one
of these. I don't really know.

Good luck. I do like my scrobbling too. Fun to see what I play over
time (or what I played at our party for 7 hours last Friday night, on
random play..., which looks interesting in the cold light of day on
Saturday)

Re: [slim] Scrobbling from Squeezebox Touch server ?

2011-10-27 Thread Lambchop

Apologies for the confusion, I am doing a great job confusing myself
too.
I found this on the Mysqueezebox.com website under What's new

Player menus have changed
If you’re an existing Squeezebox user you may have noticed that some of
your player menus have changed. We’ve eliminated the Music Services
category and introduced the App Gallery and My Apps. Go to the App
Gallery to see the entire list of music and other services. If you have
previously entered login credentials for a service, you don’t need to do
a thing—just go to My Apps and select the service you want to use.

As I cannot choose Last.fm from the App Gallery or MyApps, I think I
may be be right in thinking that I will not be able to adjust my
credentials because I can't install the service. As both MyNb and you
have said, Last.fm (service)is unavailable in certain countries,
Ireland obviousley being one.

I have searched TinySbS but I cannot find a Plug-in tab in any of the
menu's. I've looked in every menu and sub menu for it.
I assumed that the applelet installer was just a different name for the
plug-in installer.

I agree about the scrobbling, I find it fascinating to see how I fell
in love with some artists, played them to death and then fell out of
love with them. And then do it all again six months later.

I really don't care about the tags or what they recommend but what I
like is to see what I've listened to over the last week, month, 6mths,
year and etc. It amazes me on how much I play my Squeezebox and also
how much I listen to certain artists. My son also influences mine as he
uses the SB3 when I'm not around. All in all it's pretty cool to see
the breakdown of your listening habits.

Re: [slim] Scrobbling

it will scrobble from many streaming services including online radio.
There is however an option in Squeezecenter/Squeezebox Server to disable
scrobbling from online radio (I find that option very useful and online
radio can be varied and unpredictable).

I can't speak for all the Squeezebox streaming services but I know it
scrobbles from Napster and I'm sure it scrobbled from Pandora when I was
able to use it (before access was removed from UK users).

Re: [slim] Scrobbling

2009-12-03 Thread MikeekiM

I find that all of my MP3/FLAC listening from my library gets scrobbled,
as do tracks from most of the Rhapsody and Pandora tracks...

For some reason, some stuff just doesn't get scrobbled correctly... As
an example, when I listen to Rhapsody channels, the song will show up as
being listened to...but when the song is over, it won't log it in my
permanent history... Other sources do this as well...

And even though I have the option to scrobble online internet radio, I
haven't gotten this to work at all... Even when I see that the song
information is being passed to the display, it still won't even show up
as being listened to...forget about recording it in the history...

I'll need to sort out a list:

1. Sources that scrobble and record into history
2. Sources that last.fm seems to recognize I am listening to realtime,
but no log into history
3. Sources that don't scrobble at all

That's some mysterious Last.fm feature, as I recall.

They -get- the data (obviously), but since it is flagged as radio, they
don't show it as part of your usual play history. It is supposed to be
stored there and used as part of the recommendation process, though I
would assume with a lower 'priority' than local music.

http://www.last.fm/api/submissions lists this as the 'source' type to
be sent as part of the scrobbling submission:

The source of the track. Required, must be one of the following codes:

Code:

P Chosen by the user (the most common value, unless you have a reason for
choosing otherwise, use this).

  RNon-personalised broadcast (e.g. Shoutcast, BBC Radio 1).

EPersonalised recommendation except Last.fm (e.g. Pandora, Launchcast).

LLast.fm (any mode). In this case, the 5-digit Last.fm recommendation key
must be appended to this source ID to prove the validity of the submission (for
example, o[0]=L1b48a).

  USource unknown.

So, clearly, according to last.fm docs, Pandora and such should be type
E...

But they seem to behave badly with that.

Rhapsody 'channels' (and slacker, radioio, etc) would be 'R', I would
think.. they may be unique randomly generated lists, but it's still not
that specifically tuned to your tastes, and much closer to broadcast...
but then they handle that oddly, too..

Re: [slim] Scrobbling

2009-12-03 Thread MikeekiM

Thanks for this clarification SnarlyDwarf! I wish last.fm and/or
logitech would make this more clear in their documentation/FAQs...

I think it is clearly more a last.fm issue than it is a logitech
one...but since so many of us are into our music, I think logitech
would benefit a lot by putting this information in a scrobbing FAQ
section...

This explains a lot... But it doesn't explain why my broadcast radio
listening through squeezebox is not recognized at all... Not even when
the info is clearly being passed to the squeezebox display, and I have
the option to scrobble radio flipped on... It doesn't even show up
while the song is being played, nevermind logging it into permanent
history...

I have mixed feelings about how last.fm handles scrobbles... On the
one hand, it appears that they are trying to be thoughtful on what
should and shouldn't count... at the same time, what is a scrobble
worth if it disappears... I see the playcount on last.fm as my
listening odometer of sorts... And sometimes you are on roads you
like...and other times you are not on a great road at all...but you are
still accumulating miles...

Not sure how I feel about it all (not that anyone cares how I feel
about it!!!) :)

The scrobbler tells lastfm whether each track is local, lastfm radio,
other personalised radio, or other radio. Everything appears on your
charts, but lastfm treat those sources differently when calculating your
recommendations to avoid feedback from one recommendations system into
another.

Can someone explain to me what it means to scrobble? (I'm assuming it's

What can scrobbling do for me?

Scrobbling is send what I listen to off to Last.fm in mostly
realtime.

What that does is lets last.fm track what you listen to.

They they can combine what you listen to with what other people listen
to: and match you, like a dating service. But instead of some scary
people, they will match your tastes and assume that if you listen to
Artist A, and a lot of people that listen to Artist A also like Artist
B, they can recommend that you listen to Artist B.

From that, you get some online stations made up based on your tastes:
You can listen to your library (ie, songs you have played), your
recommendations (songs their software thinks you may like based on prior
listening habits), songs your 'neighbors' (people with similar tastes)
listen to, songs your 'friends' (ie, like myspace/facebook/etc) listen
to, etc.

Some stations need payment (which is all of $3 or so a month, I think),
some are free in US/UK/DE.. not sure about Canada), etc.

But think of it as, I guess, Amazon's recommendations but based on
music you actually listen to, not just what you've purchased recently.

You can also play 'similar artists'.

Sometimes I will do recommended radio, and then hear something
interesting... and then choose play artists similar to this and go
wandering down a tangent.

It is similar to Pandora, but Pandora is human selected in that
humans studied the music and added specific tags to each track, latin
rhythm or female vocalist. Last.fm's grouping is MUCH more
computer-driven.

Local files definitely. Not sure about Rhapsody\Pandora\Other online
sources as I don't really listen to these.

You can also download their software on your PC so songs you listen on
itunes\media player are also tracked. It also would add plays from your

Re: [slim] Scrobbling Deezer

2009-05-07 Thread Dingostrategy

It's a good question, and I've found it because I am asking the same
one!

There is a 'native' scrobbler for lastfm in later versions of SC. We
used to have to add a plugin but then it got bundled in.

I've only recently discovered deezer and I like it's approach. I'm
finding it works beautifully with iPeng and even gives album art. Nice
touch. But that's not the only good part.

I'd like to scrobble as well, but it would require a plugin to SC. In
fact unless something is wrong with mine, Deezer doesnt even appear in
the SC interface (yet?) so I imagine a plugin to scrobble has to come
after that (but i'm just a punter and that technical stuff eludes me.

Hopefully this happens!
