Re: [slim] SiriusXM Support Through ickStream
Ickstream forum notes that they are still working on this possibility. But note that they will have a better chance if SiriusXM subscribers contact (or recontact) SiriusXM asking them to work with IckStream to restore streaming to Squeezeboxes. I did this originally and I've just contacted them again asking them to work with IckStream to restore streaming. What I wanted to say is: SiriusXM doesn't seem to be interested at all to get Squeezebox support back. If we ever do a Squeezebox support it will only be because we do it for other projects and as a side effect it would work on Squeezebox as well, not as a dedicated, Squeezebox-targeted functionality. There is a certain chance for the latter to happen but I really can't quantify it or give a time scale. I give up. I had planned on trying my iPad with the Chromecast option then realized: (a) the SiriusXM app isn't supported by Chromecast; and (b) casting from a tab isn't available using the Chrome app on my iPad (I'd have to use the Chrome browser on my laptop). I also had no luck with Airplay bridge (the settings page keeps repeating that the configuration file is missing) and ShairTunes2 (plugin failed to load). Sorry, but we will have to stick to license agreements. This would just get us a C&D and probably also violate DCMA and similar laws in other countries so it's not an option for us. SiriusXM is not likely to go after users who hack access to the stream as long as they pay but they are not going to tolerate someone exploiting this on a large scale. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SiriusXM Support Through ickStream
I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but I was wondering about the possibility of Ickstream using existing information to host individual streams? Currently, I'm using a combination of a third party LMS plugin called "PlayHLS" which allows LMS to play HLS streams (m3u8 streams) along with a python script I found on Github that will successfully stream SiriusXM channels in the HLS format (using an individuals paid subscription login info). I create a favorite for a particular channel in LMS using the appropriate URL that links back to the Raspberry Pi I'm using to run the script. I'm not a python expert so I haven't been able to fix some of the minor issues I've encountered (at least not yet), but it works relatively well. Not too sure of all the potential "TOS" issues, but since I'm a paying user, I'm not too concerned. alnames's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63118 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] SiriusXM Support Through ickStream
Just cancelled my subscription to SiriusXM due to incompatibility with Squeezebox. Advised the agent I would gladly resubscribe if they turned the legacy streams back on, worked with Logitech to again support our devices, or worked with the Ickstream people to add new support for our devices. The agent said she would pass along my feedback to management. Unfortunately, she advised I was her first cancellation due to incompatibility with Squeezebox, so I'm skeptical we have the numbers needed for anyone at XM to notice/care. I would have felt more optimistic if she'd said, "you're my 15th cancellation for this today...this is crazy!" Who would have thought picking the "open" system (Squeezebox) would have been the losing one for ongoing support compared to the proprietary system (Sonos). I bet the Slim guys kick themselves watching Sonos become the 2nd largest speaker manufacturer in the world. They sold a $100 stock for $10 to a company that drove it down to $0. I agree 100% when it comes to music vis SiriusXM. Nothing there I need to replace. But my wife (and me to a much lesser extent) really likes the NPR (mostly) and other news stations on XM. We listen to these in our cars a lot (we have a weekend trip we often make where FM is not reliable and the NPR XM shows are good company). And my wife is very hooked on certain XM NPR shows in the early evening. Since the loss I've managed to replace most of what she missed at home with streamable podcasts of the same shows (albeit a day later). The frustrating thiing to me is that the longer I'm involved in streaming digital music, the more things seem to move backwards rather than forward. I was just playing around with the single Sonos unit I bought last year to see how it worked, and just discovered that among its other limitations it can't even deal with compilation tags in a FLAC file. It seems very bizarre that an old technology squeezebox remains cutting edge! It's like the next models of cars are more like Model T's than 2015 Hondas. Weird. But the market seems to only care about people that want to stream to bluetooth speakers from their smart phones. That's fine, but that doesn't fit my needs. *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.9 > Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng8 & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I've got 2-SB3s, a Duet and a Transporter. I have SiriusXM in my cars so I can listen to some news, NFL and MLB. My wife has a couple of Sirius favorite music channels, but the quality of Sirius is HORRIBLE compared to XM (receiver difference is totally amazing). If I want music in my car, I've got high quality music streams I subscribe to (128kAAC - 320kMP3) that I would rather listen to via USB from my iPhone. Even on the SiriusXM stations that are "all music", there's always commercials for their own shows. I understand what they're doing, but I'm paying for MUSIC ONLY. I have taken time after researching SiriusXM changes (I've been an XM customer since 2003) to determine I DON'T NEED XM on my LMS system (been a Slim user since 2006). There are GREAT STREAMING options that offer a wider variety of music (how many times have you heard the same tunes on XM) at a much higher bitrate, meaning BETTER for EVERYONE. You guys are so welcomed to do what you wish with SiriusXM, but I'm cutting back the plans on my cars and losing all streaming options. Don't need it, and honestly, I may very well lose it in my cars since I have more and BETTER SOUNDING options for less money per year. Happy music hunting... Re: [slim] SiriusXM Support Through ickStream
Hi - I don't have a Squeezebox, just the successor UE Smart Radio from Logitech. I'm also quite the noob in discussing this topic. Just for my information, would the proposed plug-in also work with the UE Smart Radio? Or is my environment too proprietary/closed for this to help me restore my SiriusXM service? I think pippin mentioned that ickStream will require a plugin to run on a server. You would have to run this server on your own. But you'd first have to convirt your SmartRadio into a Squeezebox (which can be done on-device, somewhere in Settings/Advanced). -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] SiriusXM Support Through ickStream
This is what I sent to SiriusXM via the contact email link Pippin posted. (Note, I did NOT have to fill in the RadioID number in the form to submit the email). I am a long time SiriusXM subscriber (2 autos plus internet streaming). Effective 9/30/15, Logitech Squeezebox devices no longer can stream SiriusXM. This is disappointing. However, a 3rd party provider to Squeezebox, "IckStream" is interested in developing a plugin for squeezeboxes that can return this functionality. The company, ickStream, already has success in doing this and has plugins that enable squeezeboxes to work with TIDAL and others. They are a quality organization. A review of the Logitech forums on this streaming issue will confirm that there is a great demand for such a plugin (and lots of disappointment if something can't be done to return SiruisXM to our Squeezebox players). I support this. However, before anyone contacts Sirius, a laymen like myself needs to be able to know what to tell them. In terms of showing support how about someone start a facebook group and let's get everyone here to join it. Or maybe start a petition and get people to sign it. There is a reason why SiriusXM sent letters to everyone who has a Logitech device.because obviously alot of people were using it. jojopuppyfish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] SiriusXM now works on Squeezebox radio with lifetime subscriptions
Not directly related to a lifetime subscription, but has anyone else suddenly started experiencing problems with XM/Sirius streams? What I'm experiencing is that some streams continue to work fine, while others that have worked for ages now fail to connect.(Problem: can't connect to server for is the error that displays on my Touch) An example that doesn't work is The Loft, while Real Jazz, Deep Tracks and Classic Vinyl all work reliably. I haven't verified this will extensive testing, but the Loft url has a numeric channel id (8207) while all 3 that work referenced above have alpha channel ids (thevault, realjazz etc) which strikes me as a bit suspicious. Listening online via the SiriusXm site/web player works fine, so the streams themselves are still there. Re: [slim] SiriusXM now works on Squeezebox radio with lifetime subscriptions
I was using the "(not so) Sirius Plugin" because it had support for lifetime subscriptions with internet. Sirius had 2 seperate internet feeds. If you purchased internet it was something like 128 bit If you had the lifetime subscription it came with internet but it was 64 bit. The official sirius app made by logitech only permitted internet accounts with 128 bit per specific instructions by Sirius. Now that Mel Karmazan is gone, most likely the new ceo made a change where all internet feeds are the same. Because this is the first time I used the offical sirius app from Logitech where I was able to connect and use it. jojopuppyfish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99349 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Curiouswhich 3rd party app are you referring to? I'm only aware of the official app (installed at mysqueezebox.com as well as the SiriusXM plugin for LMS, which is official logitech). Is there another 3rd party app? (Note, I use the official apps above, and have had no problems with siriusXM on my players, which include a Radio). Then again, I don't have the "lifetime" subscription. *Location 1:* VortexBox Appliance 4TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet) *Location 2:* VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.8 > SqueezePlay *Spares:* VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99349 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SiriusXM - GlobalServiceFailedLogin
Thank you all for your notes. It appears it was some sort of password glitch and not related to Squeezebox. I'm good to go again. Re: [slim] SiriusXM Canada account on mysqueezebox.com
I had problems too, until I followed this tip - change your country from Canada to US. Re: [slim] SiriusXM Canada account on mysqueezebox.com
I don't use Sirius/XM, but I seem to remember comments about the free trial type subscription not working. Might need a paid and/or even a Premium subscription? For Canada might also need to use the Sirius plugin on LMS, might not work connecting player to MySB.com online? toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98262 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SiriusXM Canada account on mysqueezebox.com
I have no problem here with Canadian Sirius account on mysqueezebox. I live in Canada. However my US Sirius account has never worked. But I don't have the add on web radio so maybe that's why. dxintel's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=54699 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98262 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SiriusXM Not Working
Happened to me a few days ago, but only on one player (a Boom in one of the guest rooms). Other players in the house were fine. "Rebooted" the Boom (i.e. unplugged it), and then it worked. Pretty weird.
