Some of your events may have been "low level of volume" but the USB disconnects were real, mainly at startup and they also happened "mid stream". It is also possible vendor has described the problem as experienced by the user and not technically. Whatever the issue, the firmware has been changed and problem may be gone or just minimised ( firmware notes say that it is a h/w issue and the h/w cannot be fixed). If you experience a similar issue again and can see it in the logs/dmesg - I'd report it to vendor - there is a chance you may get a refund/replacement. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115888 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

To me it is a black box plugged into a USB Port. The update notes said the issue was "momentary attenuation of volume" - this is not device disconnecting from USB. The Linux specific note says "Some combinations of LINUX and source hardware configurations may cause SRC-DX to output very low volume". You are suffering a disconnection. It is only LMS' ability to reconnect automagically and continue streams that results in a short gap in audio - other players would stop. Re: [slim] Squeezelite / LMS jumping on playback
I think it is the SRC-DX. In the boot sequence, within 14 secs it takes 6 attempts to bring it online - 5 times the device disconnects. This is not right. If no other device has a problem with that socket - then the SRC-DX is somehow the likely source. It maybe electrical such as a power issue or a physical such as erratic connection in socket. Re: [slim] Squeezelite / LMS jumping on playback
Does the NUC have analog audio out? You could try that which might eliminate Squeezelite as the issue and then try a USB DAC if you have one. If that has issues it would point to a USB issue - perhaps losing power for a microsecond or similar. If a USB DAC works flawlessly then the issue could well be the sbc-dx device. Re: [slim] Squeezelite / LMS jumping on playback
Just being analytical. There are three possible sources. 1. OS - e.g. USB port is being put on power save or something. A really weird possibility is that if you are not using "Localplayer" settings (i.e. squeezelite playing from network and not directly from file) - a network interface issue may possibly affect playback. Any message in Linux log about the USB port such as data errors ? 2. ALSA - various parameters settings are just borderline. 3. LMS/Squeezelite issue For LMS/ Squeezelite issues - I'd check on squeezelite log or console output - depends on how you run it. ALSA settings. The right settings seems to be trial and error but if the files you are playing tend to be high sample rate (e.g. 192kHz) , large sample size (32bit) rather than 48kHz/16bit- then custom settings may be useful. Is the problem anyway predicable (e.g. stop at the same place such as x secs from the end, 5 mins into track etc., after 3 hours playing, after playing files of different sample rates) ? bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115888 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

pkfox wrote: > Im using a USB output into a src-dx bnc converter Sorry, what I meant to ask was how your output device is identified on the squeezelite command line. It's the -o option. For instance, one of my players starts up with this command: Code: squeezelite -z -n LivingRoom -o iec958:CARD=Control,DEV=0 Another one uses this as the output: Code: plughw:CARD=sndrpihifiberry,DEV=0 Again, you can get a list of the available options by running squeezelite -l . The list will probably include several different ways of addressing the same device. For instance, this is the list of options I get for my preferred output device, using the squeezelite -l command on my living room system: Code: sysdefault:CARD=Control- Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - Default Audio Device front:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - Front speakers surround21:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - 2.1 Surround output to Front and Subwoofer speakers surround40:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - 4.0 Surround output to Front and Rear speakers surround41:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - 4.1 Surround output to Front, Rear and Subwoofer speakers surround50:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - 5.0 Surround output to Front, Center and Rear speakers surround51:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - 5.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Rear and Subwoofer speakers surround71:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - 7.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Side, Rear and Woofer speakers iec958:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - IEC958 (S/PDIF) Digital Audio Output dmix:CARD=Control,DEV=0- Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - Direct sample mixing device dsnoop:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - Direct sample snooping device hw:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - Direct hardware device without any conversions plughw:CARD=Control,DEV=0 - Khadas Tone Control, USB Audio - Hardware device with all software conversions usbstream:CARD=Control - Khadas Tone Control - USB Stream Output LMS 8 nightly running on Raspberry Pi OS. I've asked a lot of questions but haven't been able to offer any help. I can only think of two things that might be worth trying: 1. upgrade squeezelite to the latest version from https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/squeezelite/linux/ 2. try a different output. You can list the available outputs with the command squeezelite -l (that's a lower case letter L). Maybe I should ask which output you are currently using? I hope somebody else will have some fresh ideas for you! LMS 8 nightly running on Raspberry Pi OS. Mostly virtual players, occasionally with SB Radio, Boom or Classic. If you have only the one player, there's nothing to check! If you had multiple players, they could be synchronized, playing the same thing at the same time. In that situation, it's sometimes necessary for one to skip ahead in order to stay in sync. But that's clearly not your issue. Is this more likely to happen with very long files? Some of us have occasionally had a problem with music playing from a hard drive, if the hard drive spins down while a long selection is playing, there may be a delay while it wakes up when it's time to read more data. Hi there, thanks for replying, I play flac files, largely it happens near the end of the file - I only have one player - how do I check the sync setting ? Just the one player alone, not synchronized with any others? Does it happen consistently with any specific files, or certain types of files? Does it happen anywhere within the file, or is it usually near the beginning, near the end, or after the file has been playing for some time? LMS 8 nightly running on Raspberry Pi OS.
