[Dx4win] Power cut problem when running DX4WIN

2006-10-18 Thread 5B4AGC
I was doing a QSL print the other day when we had a power cut.

There was no lost QSOs just the QSLs to print info. Which was easily sorted
OK.

The problem I have since then has been that I have lost all of my USA county
info.
When I do an F1 with my cursor in the county field there are no counties
displayed in the drop down window.
Also when I try to display my counties in the award menu it displays US
states instead.
Even when I display any USA QSO from my log the county info is missing.

Maybe I have currupted my county file list or something, anybody have a
suggestion, what file to I need to install to sort this.
Or should I do a complete new installation?
I am running the very latest version.

Sorry to hear that, George.

Try re-installing DX4WIN.CTY first.

   http://dx4win.ad1c.us/

DX4WIN.CTY and 5B4AGC.DXL are the only important files that DX4WIN writes (not
counting the .PUT spots file, etc.). I can't imagine any of the other files
getting corrupted.

Hi George,

It should just work "out of the box" if DX4WIN was installed properly.

Only Writelog seems to have a problem the the LPT port, even CT supports it!

The bands follow the DX4WIN Station Preferences. There are no
Separate band preferences for the county window.

The ADIF filter isn't configurable like the other import/export filters. You
can only do what's on Filter -> Edit window.

If you're using Writelog, I may have something to help you.

I'm using N1MM, then exporting as an ADIF.

Paul... ole buddy ole pal... any chance I can twist your arm into adding a
filter for "CONTEST_ID" which is a standard ADIF field, to allow a choice
on whether to bring that field into the "Notes For This QSO" field. Just
like you have that filter for whether to bring the Frequency into that field?

Plese?

[Dx4win] DX4WIN County Window

2006-06-13 Thread 5B4AGC
Can anyone tell me how to change the length of the county window please?

Currently it shows all bands from 160m to 3cm + Sat.

I have set the preferences to show just the HF bands in all the awards shown
but there is nothing there to set up
the counties.

I looked in the DX4WIN.INI file and also see no reference to counties.

Maybe I have to enter my own, anyone have a clue?

Subject: [Dx4win] Microsoft Vista Beta 2 - Impressions
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I installed Vista Beta 2 last night in a dual-boot configuration. It
went fairly smoothly:

http://www.lifehacker.com/software/top/windows-vista-beta-how-to-dual-boot-windows-xp-and-windows-vista-179906.php

I had to manually download and install Vista drivers for my Creative
Audigy 2 soundcard, but could not get the USB drivers for my
PowerWare UPS to install.

I could not get DX4WIN to run, however. It asked me to copy the
vichw11.sys file to my Vista windows\system32\drivers directory,
which I did (from Windows XP, Vista would not let me copy files into
the system32\drivers directory, even though my account had
administrator privileges) but I got the same message again and could
not start DX4WIN. NOTE: I did not install DX4WIN 7.02, but tried to
run my existing installation in-place.

I also had various permission problems running my E-mail
client. Because the user ID of the Eudora files did not match my
Vista user ID, it wasn't working very well. Yes, I did install
Eudora, but told it to use the data files that were located
separately from the program.

Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4 seemed OK, however.

Other than a fancier user interface ("see-through windows, ooohhh,
aaahhh"), I didn't see anything that compelled me to switch to Vista.

[Dx4win] QSL Card Wastage

2006-06-06 Thread 5B4AGC
Well I have to say that I am very disappointed about the move backwards in
the latest version of DX4WIN. One of it's strongest points was the excellent
QSL card routine.

I have been printing directly to cards for several years now and it has
always been so easy.

Now the QSLMethod, QSL Manager and Group are defaulted exactly the way I don
t want them.
I just wasted another 12 QSL cards because DX4WIN no longer remembers my
last settings on these, Why? It always worked fine in all of the older
versions.

PLEASE, please put it back the way it was.

I have over 250,000 QSOs in my log and I do a lot of QSLing.

[Dx4win] VE7CC - DX4WIN

2006-02-03 Thread 5B4AGC
OK I gave up!
Whatever combination I tried they would never talk to each other.

I have gone back to DX4WIN - DXTelnet and it works perfectly.
Just one "hotKey" and everything is go.

Maybe when I get to Windows Vista and DX4WIN version 8 I'll give it another
try.

My thanks to everyone who tried to help and offered suggestions.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN-VE7CC Interface

2006-01-31 Thread 5B4AGC
Thanks for the replies.
I still cannot make it work as it did with DXTelnet.

I used one hotkey before and this started DX4WIN and DXTelnet with an auto
login.

I can see that I have the handshake message wrong in DX4WIN for a start, so
can someone tell me what that should be?

Maybe then I can make some changes to the batchfile.

Hi!

I have RTTY working in MMTTY stand-alone and also the MMTTY engine working
with WriteLog. However, in DX4Win using the same comport etc. I get an
"Exception, comport in use" when I hit the F11 key to transmit.

I can use the keyboard to type and I can use the escape key to un-key the
transmitter but it will not allow me to use the F-key stored text.

Any clues please?

Hi Bill,

A few of things to try:

1. Copy your 5.03 log to your 7.01 directory and open it. Search
for a QSO you know you have already submitted. Use F5 on the QSO
window until you can see the award flags at the bottom. Is this QSO
marked SUBMITTED or APPROVED? It should be.

2. Remember that after you receive award credits from the ARRL, you
must change the Submitted flags to Approved. From the QSO window,
Reports -> Change Award Flags

3. DX4WIN will try to submit QSOs for every DXCC award that you have
checked off in your preferences, even if you have less than 100
confirmations. It may be trying to re-submit QSLs you have already
sent in order to get the band/mode confirmation for these QSOs. Go
to Preferences and the DXCC tab. Check off ONLY the boxes you have
active DXCC awards on. Save the preferences, then try the DXCC
submission again.
