Re: [Elecraft] elecraft net?
The 20M SSB Net meets on Sunday afternoons at 1800 UTC on 14.3035 MHz The NCS is usually Eric, WB9JNZ, in Illinois and often assisted with relay stations in the NE and SW USA. The 40M SSB Net meets on Sunday afternoons at 1900 UTC on 7.280 MHz The NCS is usually Steve, WM6P, in Georgia. The 80M SSB Net meets on Sunday evenings at 900pm ET on 3.803 MHz The NCS is usually Dave, N8SBE, in SE Michigan. Due to the regional nature of 80M, most check ins are from the NE, E Coast, and Midwest, USA. If someone would like to host a W Coast version of the 80M net say, at 9pm PT, I think it would be most welcome for those that haven't been able to get into the E Coast version of the net. Finally, at 2000 UTC on Sunday afternoons, there is an Elecraft Zoom meeting. If you go to K8NU's QRZ page, you will see information on how to log in to the Zoom meeting. Hope that helps, -- Dave, N8SBE On 2024-05-04 17:08, Fred Jensen wrote: Kevin, KD5ONS, in OR runs a CW net on 20 [14050 +/-] at 2000Z? and another on 7050 or close at 2300Z on Sun. Re: [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Signal strengths as heard in New Hampshire
Thanks Bill, It is nice to know the propagation conditions from the other end. During the last month I have been able to reach the opposite coast each week, on both twenty and forty meters. The QRP operators do make it a challenge but my quiet location helps. I run at 100 watts on my K3 into a homebrew vertical. Check ins range from 1.5 watts to 1500 watts so I have to be quick on the AF gain. The sun has been a great help by waking up and repopulating its surface with spots, some of which have been active. Noise has been lower too, probably due to the season. Enjoy the winter festivals and see you on Sunday, 73, Kevin. Re: [Elecraft] Elecraft Net on 75M
Hi all, I run a 75m Emergency Mgmt regional net Sundays at 21:00 UTC on 3.940 and The Seagull net is active rest of the week here in ME same freq. I find the band goes long shortly after the net is over, around 21:30. Might want to not use 3.940 for a net... I’d be willing to try Elecraft net anytime after 22:00 UTC. BTW, around 20:30 UTC yesterday a friend (N1EP) was trying his Yaesu FT-817 @ 5 watts on 3.940 so I answered him w/my KX3 @ 15 watts. He was coming in 5.3 and I was at 5.7. Distance was only 90 miles. Switched back to my Kenwood TS-830S for the net as I am nervous running a net on 15 watts. 73 de Jose Douglas KB1TCD Mid Coast ME Sent from my iPad > On May 31, 2020, at 8:09 PM, Paul Van Dyke wrote: > > listening on 3.940 > > >> On Sun, May 31, 2020 at 7:48 PM Ken Roberson wrote: >> >> Monitoring 3875 KHZ - Ken K5DNL >> >> On Sunday, May 31, 2020, 5:18:53 PM CDT, Paul Van Dyke < >> pvandyke1...@gmail.com> wrote: >> >> >> Unfortunately, propagation really doesn't start in my area till 2400. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Reports
Good Evening, Here are a few of the net reports lying on my desk waiting to be free. Only a few more left and I am up to date. It was nice to have an antenna Sunday. I think it may be more directional than I would like. More testing is in order. However, being able to hear for miles on 160 meters is very interesting. Maybe one day I should send something on that band :) The unsettled sun has our ionosphere all aquiver so there is a lot of noise and various types of QSB. Some stations went from zero copy to full strength in only a few characters. When the pileups started it was tough to capture a single call due to the QSB. That and the howl when all of the callers are sending at once. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for January 6th and 7th - Minor correction
Kevin - Just a note to congratulate you on being able to hear me on the 7045 KHz net yesterday evening. The band was way down here in TN and the QSB was rapid and deep. The minor correction is that I was on K3 serial # 175 for the net - my K2 (# 5540) was asleep and resting. As usual, 100 watts into my horizontal loop wire antenna. If it were not for the K3 DSP noise reduction I don't think I would have heard anything! Yes, good things come to those who wait - the K3 arrived in kit form on Dec 20th. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for January 28th & 29th, 2007
Good Evening, Both nets went well this evening. There were a few times where I only heard a steady tone though. I need to somehow break up check ins a little so I can hear more call signs instead of the steady howl. Sounds good but it is unproductive. North Dakota is still cold. Not like this is earth shattering news but I still get a kick out of hearing about where I have many relatives. One of these days I need to get back up there again. This report will take a few days to be posted since qth.net is down. I tried both the Elecraft Reflector and QRP-l; both of them bounce my messages. I now know where my announcement ran off to because I was not using this computer to write it. Or rather I did send it from this one only to shut the computer down and go back to the computer in the warm part of the house. One of these days I will move this computer to the new work area but currently it is not to be. I will have to move everything when I rebuild that area when the dry season starts so I keep this computer in a stable area. The tree did not fall on this room. Or rather nothing penetrated the roof over it. One of the few rooms in the house with no damage. On 14050 kHz at 2300z: W3MC - Mike - MD - K2 - 5568 QNI #10! I will keep running the nets as long as you want them. I think they may go on for quite a long time to come. I do appreciate your input.
[Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for February 5th and 6th, 2006
Good Evening Folks, Tonight twenty meters was plagued with QRN and forty was hammered by QRM. RTTY was making it difficult to copy some of the S3 and lower stations. But my friends in the center helped a great deal. Tom and Dave shared NCS duties while working into the SE, West, and South. Then we filled for each other. I did get a note from an op in Marietta, GA who was missed somehow. He is not too miffed at us but I think we'll keep our ears open for his call. No other ops from GA tonight so we have some faint excuse ;) However, it was fun hearing from you all. It got fast and furious but you all seem to be very patient. Thank you, I do appreciate that. I was hearing into the Northeast very well, starting with Maine and New Hampshire. One day I hope to visit the first state. I have very fond memories of a summer spent in Meriden, New Hampshire though. While my dad was in a seminar my mom and I got to hiking and canoeing around the state. We did visit some woolen mills at Queechee Gorge (I hope I spelled that correctly it was around 1968 ;) I did very much want to take Pat to Lobstercon to show off her clogging and singing abilities. Too bad guys, you would have enjoyed her company. You'd probably not even notice I was there after you met Pat! Just ask Carter, N3AO, he seems to remember meeting me only because I was with her! However, on to the lists. Some folks swear by propagation predictions. I've learned it is best to call CQ and see who is able to hear me. With ECN we use each other's ears to make our range a bit greater. Dave and Tom were working folks who were ESP to me. Given my high noise floor this evening it would have been very tough to drag them out with no assistance. Thank you Dave, and thank you Tom. Your help is most appreciated. Any fills or corrections will be happily received and changes made to the database. Thank you all once again for making this an enjoyable Sunday pastime. It is nice to hear all those signals from across the continent. Just wait until the solar cycle starts its upswing in the future. It will be most interesting trying to run this net :) 73 all, Kevin. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for September 18th, 2005
Good Evening, The net was interesting this evening. A little QSB but not all that bad. Maybe I am learning something. Or maybe I am just plain lucky ;) Rounded up a few lost sheep this week: Ken and Ray had been absent for a few weeks but they explained their absences. Jim was trying to tell us all that September in Arkansas is usually dry. Tom agreed by stating Missouri weather is much the same. You guys: I grew up in the Midwest and can see a leg pulling contest a mile off! Enjoy your tall tales and soggy climate ;) Russ checked in running QRP but I never would have known from his signal. N5EBD checked in strong and then faded off. He had slow QSB on his signal. Not like last night into AK. The QSB was so fast it was hard to catch the dits. I also learned something in an email from K1EV that helps me understand why the AK folks are running a voice net on 7093 kHz. To wit: "Phone and image modes are permitted between 7075 and 7100 kHz for FCC licensed stations in ITU Regions 1 and 3 and by FCC licensed stations in ITU Region 2 West of 130 degrees West longitude or South of 20 degrees North latitude. See Sections 97.305(c) and 97.307(f)(11). Novice and Technician Plus licensees outside ITU Region 2 may use CW only between 7050 and 7075 kHz. See Section 97.301(e). These exemptions do not apply to stations in the continental US." Hmmm... I did not know that. Thank you Bill. Good thing I have been using CW to check into the Alaska Bush Net the last few days. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for September 11th, 2005
Good Evening All, The net was successful. Folks checked in mostly from the Eastern realms with one from way down in Abilene. I think Dario was testing my ears with his 3 watts though ;) Then Bill checked in from CT and was gone the next instant. Too bad about the QSB. I was hearing a little on my end but was being told of a lot of it from the other end. I was glad we had any propagation at all after all those flares from the sun. Next week I think I may camp out to watch the aurora here in the Pacific Northwest. Ms. P has never seen them so it would be a treat for her. I am from the Midwest where we were much closer to the magnetic north pole. Aurora were common for us. It appears there will be a few new Elecraft rigs on the air in the not too distant future. Please try them out on the net so we can all copy you and give reports. Mostly it will be a matter of antennas and propagation since the rigs are all the same. It is fun to hear a new one though. If there are any errors in the above list please send me the correction. If you tried to check in but I did not hear you I am sorry. Please try again next week, maybe twenty meters will be recharged after all the flares have ceased. Until then 73, Kevin. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for July 17 & 18th, 2005
Good Evening, Twenty meters, as usual, was quieter than forty. Folks to the East of me complained a little of QSB while I had QSB on the folks West of me. But, all in all, the signals were quite good. Only N8XE popped up, got recognized, and was gone once again. On forty meters matters were much different. I heard all manner of Q codes thrown at me. Not one of them was good though :( But I did manage to work HI then FL back to back. Then up to NC (I think). Either that or K2HYD was vacationing in NY. But normally he goes down to NC. I may, or may not, have heard a /4 attached to his call but copy was quite difficult. I think I left one person calling but I could not make out a letter above the noise. Some of the others were pop up contacts where I heard them above the noise for a few moments and then they were back under it again. On to the lists. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Announcement
Good Evening RF burners, A long weekend is at hand. Field Day is behind us and the bands are in great shape. 20 meters has been fantastic all week so let's try it again tomorrow. We may be able to work across the continent to that elusive Delaware. No, I was unable to find one of them on FD but I did work quite a number of stations very close: New Jersey (both South and North), Pennsylvania (East and West), and Maryland. So I know the bands (80, 40, 20 and 15) were all open at one time or another to that area of the country. But there is always next year. I hope 40 meters will be as good as it was on FD. That band was simply packed with operators. Twice I worked two contacts simultaneously. Made it a bit tough to copy all the info at the same time but practice on the nets helps a great deal. Now to be able to copy the folks running 50 wpm or more. I did pass a few ops by simply because I could not piece together a call from the blur of dits and dahs. But this was my first long contest experience. I may learn to copy those faster operators given enough practice. Good Evening, I am in the hectic last week of a school term this week. Finals start on Monday and end on Wednesday (for me). I am very busy getting the projects and papers up to snuff and preparing for the examinations. Job hunting has taken its toll on my study time this term. I do not believe I can take the normal four to six hours from my day to run the Elecraft Net twice. But which net I should eliminate? Would anyone care to take a shot at running the net for the evening? If so please reply to me and we can coordinate which one. You must have really dragged me out of the mud. Here in Michigan I could hear you throughout the net, but there was some fading and lots of static that made it hard to hear at times. I had a much harder time hearing the people check in, which surprised me. I could only copy two or three checkins. Thanks for a fun net. I've been trying to catch it for some weeks now. Good Evening, Once again the Elecraft net was not skunked. Conditions were rather weak but a few folks braved them and were recognized. I am sure there were others out there under the noise but I was not able to hear you. But this is not too bad a showing considering the CME which smacked the ionosphere last night. The pictures on http://www.prairiejournal.com/northern_lights/051505.htm are pretty spectacular. Maybe soon I'll be closer to the Magnetic North Pole and will be able to enjoy these sights in the night sky. Tom heard me on the first net and gathered in a new one for us. But then he had his linear cranked up to 100 watts so the ionosphere did not stand a chance! You had a solid signal into my QTH in Jeffersonville (about 8 miles from Carter's in Paoli) when the net opened. But by the time you two finished your exchange, you had pretty much disappeared into a deep QSB as heard from here, about an hour before local sunset. Hope to have my speed up enough to participate soon, this time I was using the CW function of my KAMplus to follow the goings on. 73 de Maggie K3XS editor, The PMRC Blurb http://www.phil-mont.org K2 #1641 -- -/___. _)Margaret Stephanie Leber CCP, SCJP/"The art of progress / /(, /| /| http://voicenet.com/~maggie SCWCD/ is to preserve order/ ---/ / | / | _ _ _` _ AOPA 925383/ amid change and to / --/ ) / |/ |_(_(_(_/_(_/__(__(/_ K3XS / preserve change amid/ -/ (_/ '.-/ .-/ARRL 39280 /order."-A.N.Whitehead/ /(_/_(_/___AMSAT 32844_/<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>/ ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Re: [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for May 8-9th, 2005
Kevin, I think I heard you around 9:10 PM local time here on 40m. Band conditions were very strange indeed. I had a QSO with a "local" station about a 1 hour drive north of here who was 599 while he was running 100W and he gave me 579 with my 5W. He was amazed with my signal. Suddenly he was barely copiable. Sorry, Kevin, that I didn't even attempt to give you a call when I heard you on 40m. It would have been too painful on both of us! BTW, I think my K2 is about as done as it is going to get. Last weekend I added the DSP filter. This weekend I added the KAT2 but still need to upgrade the firmware from v1.03 to v1.07 (it is on order and I should have it installed by next weekend). Now about all that is left is to solve an RF problem (I think it is coming in on the PTT line) and learn how to better use the DSP filters and just have fun. Next weekend, especially on Saturday, I'll be spending about 10 hours (or more I hope) in the MidAtlantic QSO Party. That will be my second contest with the K2 and a warm-up for Field Day! 72 and hope to work you again next week. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for May 1-2, 2005
Howdy Folks, Working through the pain tonight and a bit of lighting too. The QRN was very strong and I did not even have the radio on or the antennas plugged in. The lightning was acting like I was in the Midwest again. Had not seen it like that up here over the ten years I've been on this mountain. Oregon is not known for thunderstorms but I guess they do happen. The pain is in my right hand from too many hours writing long hand mixed with using a mouse. Paddles simply exacerbate a pre-existing condition. But on with the show. 20 meters seemed a bit muffled but 13 check ins were achieved through the able assistance of N0SS. Then on 40 after the lightning let me hook up antennas again we got another 13. For a while I could not hear my own sidetone over the QRN from the storm moving up the Columbia Gorge. So I passed NCS duty over to Tom again so he could work them and I could log them. There were reports of snow in the upper Midwest from W0QQS and W0CZ. Stay warm guys! But I hear Joplin was none too warm for all those folks lucky enough to get to that ham fest. One of these years I will get there. Must be the most fun ham fest ever from the stories I hear. Is there going to be a CD guys? On to the lists. Now any home remedies for tendons that are just screaming from over use? I think I am going to soak my hand for a while but I can't just stop sending CW or writing. Might just as well shoot me! Must be some way to relieve some of the pain. Aspirin does help but I think a long rest may help too. The Wallowas in June are calling me but I will take at least two radios with me. May wean myself from the computer and from writing long hand but CW is not to be foresworn! Take care folks, 73, Kevin. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for April 24-25, 2005
I did not expect this kind of turnout but it is heartening. The bands seemed to be favorable this evening. Working between the contesters was problematic at times but Tom, N0SS, and I did it. I failed to ask for a serial number however so N7AF is logged without his due. I know we got the particulars but they are not in my notes. Sorry Dave, we will get this worked out I'm sure. Thanks for putting Arizona back on the map! We had great geographical spread. QSB, QRN, and QRM were constant but both 20 and 40 meters netted good totals. Two Alaskan stations checked in from Palmer and Anchorage. They seem to have a pipeline into Oregon as does Ray with his KX1 from Virginia. Those KX1s do yoeman duty. But then the K1s held up their end too from Ontario and New York. The rest of us make do with our K2s ;) On to the lists. We shall be working from a local rail line (extinct that is) for a QRP to the field contest. He is going to show me how a K1 works and I'll bring along another rig to use. Should be fun because we do have a shelter from the outrages Oregon weather may throw at us. Please listen for us on Saturday and give us a holler if you want. Then I shall be QRV on the normal frequencies at the usual times for the Elecraft CW Net the next day. Hope to hear you all then. 73, Kevin. I was unsure of Leigh's rig and state so I will simply let him speak for himself: Kevin, I was in CA, operating portable at the local school with a 24ft wire in a tree and a 16ft radial, a WB6ZQZ balun, Elecraft T1 tuner, K5OOR HFPacker amplifier, KX1 #741, and K5OOR PowerPak. Once again Net Control Operator 5th Class is showing his faults. I did not include WA2DKG on my net report for the 40 meter net. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report December 26-27, 2004
Good Evening Folks, Well that was interesting! There are some die hards out there who take time from their Scrabble games and feasts to check in with us on ECN. QSB plagued both nets with QRN rising near the end of the 20 meter net. QRN and QSB were strong on 40 the entire time. But we have a few check ins to report and one new person joined the group. WG4S wins the subliminal award however. He was right at the noise floor at his signal peaks but the rest of the time was non-existent. However check in requirements are a bit lax on ECN so Dan has been duly noted on the rolls. Good morning Kevin, 20 metres dead as a Dodo here 2300Z onwards with no recovery by ECN time.Idiot 'alarm clock' pheasant was late, but I got on 7045 kHz around 0400Z hoping to find somebody still around. Nothing except a S5 RTTY and a continuous pulsed signal both from the west, but conditions were good into Central and S.America and the Carrib., so all not lost. Oregon / Washington S. / Calif. good yesterday long path around 1500Z on 40. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for December 6, 2004
Howdy Folks, With a little help from my friends ECN was able to get folks from across the continent to participate this evening. 20 meters was much quieter than 40 but what else is new? KE0X, Rich, in Nebraska responded to our plea for another state and brought NE to the list. Only three more and I will apply for ECN WAS. Delaware, Vermont, and South Dakota. If there are any folks out there from those states who would like to make a net op very happy now is your chance :) Thank you also to Bill for gleaning a few more stations with a call from CT and for Dick catching a few more from CO. Without these two guys the lists below would be shorter. 40 meters was very noisy but a couple ESP stations made it aboard as partials. And Ray, where were you this week? /4? Hmm must have taken that KX1 for a trip. Wayne appreciates your treatment of his rigs. Good care and feeding and a little vacation now and then makes them perform much better. My K2 needs one soon. Maybe Eastern Oregon where the sun is shining :) On 14051 kHz we had: N4SO - Ken - Al - K2 - 3394 K6DGW - Fred - CA - K2 - 4398 KG6HAF - Ward - CA - K2 - 3587 K5JAZ - Jim - LA - K2 - 2535 WG4S - Dan - GA - K2 - 2456 KL0WN - John - AK - K1 - 1456 K1EV - Bill - CT - K2 - 2152 W0QQS - Bruce - MN - K2 - 3646 KE0X - Rich - NE - K2 - 2260 On 7045 kHz: K5GUS - Dan - TX - K2 - 4426 W0CZ - Ken - ND - K2 - 1031 W0NTA - Dick - CO - K2 - 3900 K1EV - Bill - CT - K2 - 2152 N2FQ/6 - Fernando - CA - K2 - 2330 VE3YR - William - ON - ? K2HYD/4 - Ray - VA/? - KX1 - 608 WA7BOC - Roger - WA - K2 - 755 KF1G - Lee - ME - K1 - ?? Thank you all for the fun of the hunt. Ms. Patricia turned on the washer while I was on the air on 40 meters. The preamp was on, the AF fully clockwise, and the RF fully clockwise too. When the relays clicked to cycle the motors my ear drums must have touched! Youch. Normally I don't run with everything on high like that. But the only way to get through the QSB, QRM, and the ubiquitous QRN on 40 was to run maxed out. Youch. I have a few votes for 160 meters, another for 80 meters, and then two votes for 30 meters. Hopefully this loop will tune each of them. Next Spring will bring a larger loop into the fir trees; a two wavelength 160 meter loop at 60+ feet. This smaller version will be lower and a test study for the main event. Stay tuned :) Any fills on the above list would be appreciated as well as any error correction. Thank you for the fun evening and I will see you next week, 73, Kevin. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Announcement
Good Evening, The weather has turned clear and cold after Thanksgiving day. The sun is nice when it pops out from behind the mountain to our south. I hope you all are recovering from the feast on Thursday and are either relaxing or contesting to your heart's content. Last night I listened for a number of hours to all the folks out there. It sounded nice so I copied along for a bit to see who I could hear. I knew a few of them and could copy more than I thought I could. But some of those guys are pretty fast! The bands I listened to last night (160, 80, 40) sounded pretty good. I know 20 meters was doing well on Friday so hopefully after the contest is over at 2400z tomorrow they will have left a bit of the ionosphere intact for us to use. I wandered into Home Depot this evening and purchased a bit of 14 guage wire. I will try to get a loop up for 160 which should tune quite nicely for the higher bands. Now to get some ladder line from HRO this coming week and get it hooked up. Then I can switch around between my various antennas and see if that helps get a few more check ins during ECN. Please join us : Monday z (Sunday 4pm PST) 14050 kHz Monday 0300z (Sunday 7pm PST) 7045 kHz Visit our web site: http://ecn.visionseer.com/ for further details. Thank you for the web space Dan. No special requirements or exchanges necessary on ECN just check in and see what happens from there. Take care all and see you tomorrow evening, Kevin. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for November 14, 2004
Starting at 2354z with NE5DL there were a number of folks stopping by ECN/1. The band was not too bad because I worked a KX1 from Hawaii. But some of the folks in the Eastern part of the Midwest were tough to extremely tough. I did get a partial on KI8JM until the QSB dragged him up. I am pretty sure I was getting a 9V call but never could complete the exchange. I think he was running a KX1 though so he may have been either Mike AB9V or Russ N9IV. Both of these guys have KX1s and live in 9 land. But maybe this mystery will become resolved when the second net rolls around. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Announcement
Good Evening, Even though the sunspot numbers have been down 20 meters has been good to me this week as has 40 meters. The weather has not been so kind. It has frosted a few times but the greenhousese are still producing the more robust vegetables. The fire is not yet burning all of the time so I need to split some kindling. If I am very lucking a $10/hr job may become available next week sorting mail. No benefits but there is overtime and the prospect of 60 hour weeks. Sure will feel good to be employed in this economy! Tomorrow I hope to meet a few more Elecraft owners and welcome back many of the 235 folks who have checked in previously. Creating and running the Elecraft CW Net has been very enlightening and enjoyable. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Announcement
Good Evening, This week has been very wet up here. The heating season started a few days ago and the fire feels quite nice. It looks like Summer was over a couple of weeks ago but we hope for a return. I'd better get more wood stacked in the shed. My newest crop of ECOM students had their first class this morning. Looks like a good group. I will be training them over the next nine weeks. Hopefully I can follow it with a CW class to train a few more Generals into the ranks. N0SS has given me a few schematics which I will incorporate into my MCW over FM training. Interest is high. A few asked about Elecraft kits too :) Please join us for a little relaxing CW tomorrow on the Elecraft CW Net held at: Sunday 2300z (Sunday 4pm PDT) 14050 kHz Monday 0200z (Sunday 7pm PDT) 7045 kHz Please visit our web site: http://ecn.visionseer.com/ for further details. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for 20 and 40 meters for Sept 5th, 2004
Good Evening, Both 20 and 40 meters were good tonight. Signals were a little weaker on 40 but both of them were easily worked. Tom helped me grab a few weaker ones. The most interesting catch was from Sarasota, Florida. Looking at the weather map at 2400z you'll find they had a bit of a lull then. The eye of tropical storm Frances was passing over. I did not get all of his information since he was sending faster than I could copy and Tom had run off on an errand but I am pretty sure I heard KX1. I did not want to ask him for a repeat because he had other things to worry about. I'll get fill later but this will make an interesting story for Wayne's KX1 files :) We also had a check in on 40 meters from a fellow with a Sierra rig. I'll need a ruling from Wayne on whether we get SNs from them or should I just label it non-Elecraft? Hmmm... I'd think Wayne would want to keep one of his childen as part of the group. On to both lists: => 20 meters on 14049 kHz. N0SS - Tom - MO - K2 - 008 W0NTA - Dick - CO - K2 - 1787 (you rig collector!) VE1RGB - Gary - NS - K2 - 2519 AH6RE - Curt - HI - K1 - 464 K2HYD - Ray - VI - KX1 - 608 W0CZ - Ken - ND - K2 - 1031 N2YC - John - NY - KX1 - 336 KD6MES - Tom - CA - non-Elecraft W0RW - Paul - CO - KX1 - 292 NC1C - Dave - MA - K2 - 3499 WU3L - Frank - PA - non-Elecraft W4BM - Bert - FL - KX1? Please send me any fills or corrections and I will add them to the database and post them to the Reflector. Thank you all very much for a lot of fun. It just gets better. We passed the 800 QNI milestone tonight. We are at 820 QNI from 220 folks. The serial number list should pass 200 soon. Some folks really enjoy racking up their numbers too. There are 5 folks with over 30 QNI, and 15 with over 15 check ins. Seems like something is going right. It can't be me it must be the Elecraft allure :) Take care and have a safe holiday tomorrow. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for 40 meters June 28, 2004
This evenings ECN netted another two operators: VE3XL - Ric - ON - K1 - 968 and AA3WF - Mychael - PA - K2 - 1025 It was good to hear from both of them. I hadn't heard Mychael in quite some time and it was very nice. Ric's K1 is doing well as always. He was recovering from a fun FD. I hope you all got to use your Elecraft rigs for FD this year. I know mine did a very fine job for me on 10, 15, 20, 40 and I am sure it would have worked on 80 meters if I would have stayed up late enough :) I attacked FD with less vigour than some but had a good time. I set a goal and doubled it. Maybe next year Ms Patricia and I will staff a couple of rigs and work FD on the top of our mountain. She may just find time in her busy schedule to get her General license and work a little CW. If not she can always work SSB or AM. Nothing wrong with that. Please support the Elecraft CW Net in your part of the world. There is one springing up around the North Sea and another in Southwest Asia. The new greenhouse is being a bit obstinate so it is taking more time than I would like. Also more sweat and slivers ;) The QSB was slow but very deep. I would get one or two exchanges and then the folks would be gone. I got AB9V twice. He wanted to make sure his K2 was listed instead of the KX1. He tried to QSP Dan but I am unsure which one: WG4S or N7CQR, GA or OR? Then I got a fellow partially: N D S Z OK . I think UD would be BUD but I got his K2 4115 just fine. So I'll dig to see if I have that NR listed in my database. Yes, he's Bud in OK with K2 4115. The number got through the QSB better than your name did :) Then I got one fellow asking for CQ ECN and he just went away. But now the list: AB9V - Mike - IN - K2 - 3993 KD5SZ - Bud - OK - K2 - 4115 AL7N - Ed - AK - NTS traffic backbone for the upper 1. There were a couple of other very light stations but I could not dig you out. I am sorry my ears are not better. I dream of a stack of Yagi-Udas up on my 100 foot tower but for now two G5RVs do the work. Thank you all for checking in or trying. The Eurasian and North Sea Elecraft Nets are in their formative stages. Please support them if you get the chance. We'll spread this net around the world if need be. Then all you folks can have fun with a chat and propagation reports and just plain stuff. There is no copyright on fun :) 73, Kevin. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Announcement.
It may be late but I am game for running the Elecraft CW Net tomorrow. I am learning a bit about Field Day today and got my quota. Then I had to run errands. Came back home and worked my quota again. 10 meter, 15 meters, 20 meters, 40 meters but none on 80 meters; yet! I am going to try to get to bed this evening but I want to run ECN/1 and ECN/2 tomorrow at their standard times and frequencies. If any of you are feeling up to it after this evenings' (night and next morning) fun please join us. The bands seem very happy supporting contacts across the US. I worked from Coast to Coast and from North to South today and this evening. Sunday 2300z (Sunday 4pm PDT) 14050 kHz Monday 0200z (Sunday 7pm PDT) 7045 kHz If you have any questions please read what has been posted on our web site http://ecn.visionseer.com/ Thanks for the space Dan. I really need to work on this in my copious spare time :) I have a few additions, updates, and corrections to make. 73, Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class) I may even try working my quota again tomorrow ;) ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for 20 meters June 20, 2004
Howdy Folks, Very strange propagation today. I was told there was QSB but I heard none. Signals were fairly weak but once in a while they just popped out at me. KL0WN and VE1RGB just got their call signs recognized before they disappeared. WB8UFA was also lost after the second contact. The oddest thing was I got an AK and a few seconds later I got Nova Scotia. The list for the afternoon net: AL7N - Lake - AK - nonE W7QHD - Kurt - AZ - K2/100 - 1538 WB8UFA - John - AZ - K1 - 1883 KL0WN - John - AK - K1 - 1456 VE1RGB - Gary - NS - K2 - 2519 I may have missed a signal but the propagation was so odd you may have gone straight past me. Thank you one and all for checking in today. It was quite interesting hopping across the country like we did. 73, Kevin. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for May 10th 2004
The twenty meter net was run but no one showed up this evening. The 40 meter net was a bit better with Tom and John showing up. The list: Tom - N0SS - MO - K2 - 008 John - N2YC - NY - KX1 - 336 Thank you very much for your support. The band was very, very noisy and the SSB folks were all over the place. I finally got a spot at 7042 kHz and ran the net from 0155z to 0218z. I am debating whether to drop 20 meters and start an 80 meter net instead later in the evening. This week may have been especially lousy so I'll keep my options open. June 6th marks the one year anniversary of the Elecraft CW Net. If you have any suggestions for what we can do to celebrate please feel free to email me. 73, Kevin. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for June 14, 2004
Howdy Folks, Another scratchy, noisy night on 40 meters. But we had some fun. Unfortunately my K2/100 decided it was time for a break and would not stay running on 40 meters. I employed my lesser transceiver and muddled through. Who ever would have thought they would use mechanical relays for full QSK? What ever were they thinking? After learning how to run CW on my K2 I am spoiled for all other gear. Wayne please train the folks at Yaecomwood on how to build a QSK circuit. The big three seem to be unable to get your smooth action and velvet sound. Even though the bands were not as happy as they could be we did quite well for checking in 10 folks on 40 meters this evening. The lessor rig's filter and adjustments may not be up to Elecraft's vaunted standards but somehow the other ops got their info across to me. And, best of all, I have one more volunteer for the Elecraft Booth at SeaPac (Thanks Roger :) And congratulations go out to Ken, W0CZ for his volunteer work for the Salvation Army in balmy North Dakota. Send me some of that sun Ken! I am freezing my patoots off down here in the mountains of western Oregon. My greenhouse seems to be the only warm place up here now days. 'Nuff jawin' here's the list: KL7V/5 - Sam - OK - K2 - 3158 VE3XL - Ric - ON - K1 - 968 W0CZ - Ken - ND - K2 - 1031 AB9V - Mike - IN - K2 - 3993 K8DD - Henry - MI - non Elecraft N7NLU - Karl - OR - K2 - 4227 AA0NI - Dan - OK - K2 - 3421 K6ATT - Jeff - CA - K1 - 1805 WD5EWA - Stan - TX - K2 - 4216 WA7BOC - Roger - WA - K2 - 755 As alway any mistakes on this list will be fixed as soon as I receive the corrections with my abject apologies for my unskilled ways and fumbling fingers. 73 to all, Kevin. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for June 13, 2004
Sometimes I need a little help so I call upon one or more of you to act as relay stations. I never know what is going to happen but this afternoon it appears I put Bob Feller on the mound for a no hitter! Tony, W7GO, was the first check in this evening also for his first time on ECN. I got his vitals and then sent out the net preamble. I called CQ a bit with no luck. So I asked him if he would like to try his hand. Politely he gives a call and hands it back to me. I tried again and asked him to give another shot. Sometime around 40 minutes later I get another call from Tony. He's managed a very nice list of checkins and gotten over whatever jitters he may have felt. A big thank you to W7GO for working NCS/QSP. GREAT JOB!! I did hear some of these but without Tony the list would have been much shorter. QNS: W7GO Tony , NV, K2 #4049 S9 down to S6 or less at the end AB9V Mike, IN, KX1 #718 S1-2 VE3JPW - Warren - ON - non Elecraft rig W0QQS Bruce, MN, K2 #3646 S3 to me. If there are any errors in the list above please don't hesitate to correct me. I'll get it right one of these days. 73 to all, Kevin. I also missed N7NLU - Karl - OR - K2 - 4227 A brand new rig for him. That brings my number of checkins for the two nets up to an all time high of 30! Now who else did I miss? [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for June 7th 2004
Howdy Folks, It got a bit rough this evening between the QSB, the QRN, and later the QRM of the packet folks but we had a handy number of check ins. I am sorry we did not get back to Bob in New Jersey to see if we could dig in more information out of the muck. We shall try again a bit latter down the log book. I did try moving the net up a kc but moving an aircraft carrier would be easier. I am not Jack La Lanne! 12 check ins on 40 m is a pretty fair number. That plus the 16 on 20 meters totals a whopping 28, the most in quite some time. Thank you very much for supporting our first anniversary net. [Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for June 6th 2004 -- One Year !!!

Time for Kevin to be promoted to at least NCS 4th Class... heheh! 73, Tom << And a note from the Elecraft CW Net's first ever check in: Well, Kevin, I gave it my best shot -- wanted to check in on my first anniversary of ECN and the net. But, not a peep. Nil. Nuthin' Just W2SR and W0QQS, and they couldn't hear you either. The propagation gods are not kind. GL with continued operation of the net. As a rule, I am unable to make the 40M net, but I'll continue to try for future 20M. 73, GaryVE1RGB Thank you Tom and all the other QSPers out there. I heard the net run across the US and Canada and back again. I didn't hear all of you very well but I got most as you were checking in with whomever was acting as NCS at the moment. It appears we are on our way to a bang up check in list for this evening. If 40 meters gleans as many we will have set a new record for a single day. In a day or so I will post a few numbers covering the first year's operation. It has been a great learning experience as well as being fun. I'll keep doing this as long as I can. That's the rules for the WPX (World-wide Prefix) contest. Okay, I'll promise never to try to understand the mind of a contester. It's easy. It's just part of the rules. The same guys calling you in WPX would be ignoring you in CQ WW or in ARRL DX. Each contest has its own set of rules, which makes the strategy different (and fun!) in each case. Next contest (except for the occasional Field Day outing), I'll be chewing the rag with someone on 30 meters. That's fine. Just remember that for any WPX contest, you could likely generate a pileup from Oregon by calling CQ.
