[Elecraft] Thank you Elecraft
I wanted to drop a note to the Elecraft folks to thank them for all the good work they did getting ready for the "event". It was good to meet a few folks I had not, and good to get a few answers I needed. The K4 presentation was good, and glad you will have it on YouTube later... So... [Elecraft] Thank you Elecraft!
I just wanted to say thank you to Elecraft. I built / have the KX1, KX3 and K2, all fine rigs. But I relocated m K2 up at our rustic, small, cabin in the high sierras, as my "rig in residence". It had been a while since I used the old K2 as the KX3 has seen daily use in the WA6ARA shack at home. It has been a true pleasure using the K2 up there. Simple to use, quite receiver, nice memories. Just a pleasure to use casually while resting from a hike and drinking a beer. [Elecraft] Thank you Elecraft, Digital Modes
I had no plan to have digital capability, but it's sure nice that the K3 (and KX3) have digital capability. W1AW/9 recently posted to LoTW, three RTTY and one PSK31 QSOs confirmed. [Elecraft] Thank You Elecraft Employees
I would like to share my thanks and appreciation to Elecraft employees for their excellent products and support. I am a relatively new K3 and KPA500 kit owner. I was happy with my purchase during assembly, and have been happy ever since. I have a KAT500 kit on order now too. I shared my equipment with some volunteer radio operator friends during Field Day and SKYWARN Recognition Day this year, at the Fort Worth National Weather Service forecast office. I do not believe any of them had operated Elecraft radios before. They had experience with various other makes and some high-end models. All who had a chance to operate my equipment were impressed. Everything functioned flawlessly. Although I have not worked directly in manufacturing for many years, I started my career at a major commercial 2-way radio manufacturer 36 years ago, introducing, manufacturing and testing radio products. I may have some small idea of the effort it takes to design and manufacture a quality radio product, and exceed customer expectations. You have done so for me. Thank you, and be proud of all that you have accomplished together! I hope you continue to be successful for many, many years to come. -- Sincerely, David McAnally WD5M Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Elecraft] Thank you Elecraft - And Dale
I received my K3 today at 8:00am. I took and hooked my laptop up to it and saved the new configuration file. I thought I would try it as it came from the factory. I was on 30 meters and heard a cw signal. I don't know much about cw, between cw and a hole in the ground, I could tell you which one is the hole. lol I tuned in the cw signal and it was w5vyy calling cq. okay nervous about never having a cw contact I started typing in my untility programs and called him. He responded on the first call. Wow. I had a nice qso with him and he said my signal sounded great. This is with the same antenna that my kenwood would not tune. The k3 tuned it to a 1 to 1 first try. Now I have a lot of learning and exploring to do. I just wanted to thank the Elecraft bunch and especially Dale for helping me get my order and making such a great product. Got to jump off of here and get back to playing radio. Thank you all and I am sure I will have questions that I will need help with so thank to all on the reflector in advance. [Elecraft] Thank You Elecraft
Thanks to Elecraft for providing 50 to 60 hours of great fun and entertainment with some trepidation while building my new K2 transceiver. Everything went well in the first phase of the build, only to be challenged with a few issues in phase II. After about 5 hours of troubleshooting with the help of Don Wilhem, I got the receiver functioning. Phase III was completed today without issue and the transmitter worked as advertised from the moment I turned the transceiver back on. All that was left was to align and calibrate and a few hours later, the basic transceiver was complete. Thanks also goes out Mychael Morohovich, the Tyroidguy for the pre-assembled toroids. I think that buying pre-built toroids really made the whole process a lot easier. So now I'm off to build the options and get them into the radio. What Great Fun and what a great radio. [Elecraft] Thank you Elecraft for the KX1
I just wanted to share my experience with a KX1 that I borrowed from a friend. I took this KX1 rig with me when I went to the Philippines. I did a bit of traveling around the northern part of the country. The rig that I borrowed had 80/40/30 and 20 meters available. However, things were more active on 40 meters. Most of my work was from 6am till about 10AM then again from about 9PM till about 11:30PM local time. After that the bands were DEAD. Im speculating that there are more younger CW guys in Asia than here in the states. And that perhaps they go to work, and that's why the bands were not active during the day time. I found that with a #26awg 28' wire thrown up into a coconut tree, and 3 counterpoise available to me, 33', 23' and 16', which I just threw down on the ground I was able to get a very nice match on all bands but 80 meters. At times I found that using only the 33' or the 23' counterpoise was all that I needed... Here's what I was able to work and hear with that little 2 watt ultra portable KX1: Heard: Argentina England Germany France Russia Korea China Japan Chek Republic Israel Norway Switzerland Trinidad Tabgo Thailand Brunei Vietnam Cambodia Philippines Chagos (VQ9) Singapore USA (oddly I was only able to hear AZ for the most part??) Worked: Russia (3 stations) Korea China Trinidad Tabgo (heard me calling QRP but wasn't able to hear me through the other Asian stations calling him) Japan Chek Republic (2 stations) North Pole (1 station) Thailand Brunei (2 stations) Vietnam Cambodia (2 stations) Philippines Believe it or not, I only heard 2 other Philippine stations on CW! I worked both, yet one was a guy visiting from Germany *Places that I didn't mark with a number I worked more than 3 times. As an owner of a K3, I just wanted to say Thank you to Wayne, Eric, Lyle and everyone else at Elecraft that made the KX1 available. You have no idea how much fun and excitement that you added to my already enjoyable vacation. I know now that I'll be ordering a KX1 kit to build for myself as soon as I can drum up the money. It's also hugely important that the Owners of Elecraft, and principal designers of the radio, regularly read the reflector, pay attention to their customers problems, needs, and desires, and actively respond both with solid answers, and with solutions in the form of the evolution of the radio! This communication is the primary reason why the K3 runs rings around its competitors, and at a fraction of the cost of the best competitve products. And its the reason why most serious contesters and DXers are dumping other radios to buy K3s. 73, Jim Brown K9YC --Original Message Text--- From: James Sarte Date: Wed, 11 Feb 2009 18:28:28 -0500 I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on the reflector list that has taken the time to answer my questions. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Hello All: Just to let you know K2, s/n 6301 is now complete! Final Tuning of filters and Antenna Tuner to be completed this week, when my elmer returns from Orlando. It will be several weeks for me to put up a G5RV and perfect my cw. But I hope to be on the air by March 10. Over the past several months while building my radio, I have read this forum daily. I want you all to know that the support I received from everyone at elecraft and the torroid guy was fantastic. Scott, at elecraft got to know me, well but no mattar how silly my question, I had the help I needed. Coupled with the advice on this forum, I was able to build my K2 and it was my first build. Thank you to all and Thank you to Elecraft for putting out a product that a nontechnical newbie can build. Now I just have to learn how to use it!
