[Elecraft] Value of a used KPA100

2015-01-28 Thread Michael Walker
I have a friend who is working on an estate sale here in Canada. He is
attempting to price out a used, excellent condition, KPA100 without the
tuner.

For those that have bought a used in recent history, how much did you pay
for it. Or, if you recently sold one, what did you sell it for.

You can send it any info to me personally if you like to keep the noise
down on the reflector.

Thanks, Mike va3mw

[Elecraft] Value of K2 field test unit

2013-08-27 Thread Jim Apple
I'm about to put serial number 0069 up for sale but I'm having a hard time
getting a sense of a fair value for it. It has the auto tuner and battery,
but is has not been used in 6 years so the battery probably needs replaced,
no ssb module. And I have an unbuilt DSP option that will go with it,.

Any help would be great.

Re: [Elecraft] Value of K2 field test unit

2013-08-27 Thread Don Wilhelm

Jim,

If a Field Test K2 is upgraded with all the A to B mods, new firmware
and the IF filter crystals upgraded, its performance will be equal to
those kits currently being shipped.
The parts for that kind of full upgrade will be in the vicinity of $125,
so you need to downgrade the price from a new one by at least that
much. If you also consider that the buyer may want to have someone else
do the upgrade work, the labor will likely be in the $150 to $200 range,
so that might be taken into consideration as well in arriving at your
proposed selling price.

Note that upgrades are not the same thing as the options - some owners
confuse the two.

An early K2 will still perform well even if not upgraded, but I believe
the price of the upgrades will be taken into consideration by any
potential buyer. If you have installed any of the upgrades, that is a
plus in your favor in your pricing - specify the upgrades that have been
installed.

Most recent K2s (SN over 4660 have all upgrades installed) that I have
seen offered for sale are priced at 66% to 75% of the new kit (plus
options) value.

[Elecraft] value of K3/100 with most of the goodies...

2012-01-29 Thread Allan Taylor
I am contemplating a future sale or trade of my K3/100 and need to come up
with an appropriate used value.

It is a somewhat early serial number (~750) and has the following options:

main rx 6.0, 2.7, 1.0, .4, and .25 filters, General coverage BPF, and high
stability TCXO. It has the stock KXV3 (not the 'A')

second rx 2.7, 1.0., .4 and .25 filters.

It does NOT have the ATU.

It has most of the relevant mods to about one year ago including the ALC
mod to drive a Quadra

I have not included the MH2 microphone as it will stay with the K2 and not
with the K3.

I quick pass through the Elecraft site came up with a today's price of
3945. Obviously I paid less than today's price for some of the items

I am rough-guessing a value used of about $3300.

Comments?? (I am not currently soliciting for a sale).

[Elecraft] Value of a K2?

2009-07-07 Thread Stan Jacox
Hello Kx'ers
I have a K2 I built as a kit here on a kitchen table with the ATU, SSB
module, 160/RX module, 10 w version. I return to the US for a few weeks in
early September. If I could sell it, I would love to get the basic K3. My K2
has an early 1900s serial number if I remember( I got it as an older
un-built kit in trade from my pristine TenTec Paragon).
It has most of the mods to date and works fine. It has actually been used
very little, mostly just to listen since I have a poor wire antenna in the
city center of large electrically noisy city. Even with the poor ant.

What is the going price nowadays?

Another question. How large is the un-built kit's box? I would probably want
to assemble it here when I return in come back in mid September.

Thanks

[Elecraft] Value of 500 and 200 hz roofing filters

2008-04-04 Thread Kenneth A. Christiansen
I live on a city lot with lots of electrical noise. For this reason good
noise reduction features are important if I want to be on the air. The
thing that made me order my K3 last summer was the fact that the noise
blanker in the IC-746PRO would work just fine until a strong station
such as W1AW would come on than 15 khz of the band would become
worthless because W1AW would key the noise blanker on and off.

I bought my K3 with the 500 hz filter and noticed with the noise blanker
on and the 2.7 khz filter I saw a less serious problem similar to the
one in my 746 pro over the 2.7 khz of the filter. If I went to the 500
hz filter the problem only covered 500 hz. I ordered the 200 hz filter
and now can get to within 200 hz of W1AW with the noise blanker on
before I see the problem. I feel this is wonderful and sure makes it
possible for me to have many more QSOs. If I do not need to run the
noise blanker than I do not see the problem even with the 2.7 khz
filter. My Hy-Gain Hy-Tower always got out well for me but I could not
use it most of the time due to the high noise level. Now with the K3,
the two noise blankers, the noise reduction and the 50 hz IF DSP filter
plus the 500hz and 200 hz roofing filters I feel as though I am getting
the use out of the Hy-Tower that I had always wanted. I also set the
pitch on the K3 to 300 hz to get maximum help from my ears.

I just thought I would pass this along as several people have asked
about the narrow roofing filters and if there is line noise involved I
feel it makes a big difference.

RE: [Elecraft] Value of used equipment

2008-01-02 Thread Darwin, Keith
The value of used gear can be determined through several means. If the
gear is still being produced you can use the current new price and
figure yours is worth a percentage of new cost. I figure 80% for
top-notch, in demand gear down to maybe 50% for stuff that is a bit
rough (i.e. a mobile rig).

If it is out of productions stuff, then my first stop is eBay where I
check what the item has sold for in the last 30 days (requires login).
One warning though, eBay is it's own market. Values and prices on eBay
may only be correct for eBay. Other places the same gear may be worth a
bit more or less.

The other thing to do is to hit the ham classifieds and see what folks
are asking for their gear. That can be hit or miss since the stuff you
want to sell may not have been listed or may not have actually sold.

One benefit of eBay is the auction style lets the gear rise to its value
without you having to know what it is. The buyers determine what it is
worth.

I've sold thousands of dollars worth of radio equipment

If memory serves me, on eBay, to see prices equipment 'actually' sold
for, you have to login, and thus register.

The other place I look is the eHam classifieds. I actually like that
better than eBay, as I have been screwed too many times there. Not
saying everyone is, I just have that kind of luck. But I digress, I
have enjoyed selling stuff on the eHam classifieds. Sometimes you get a
hit right after it is put up, thus no waiting. If it doesn't work out,
eBay will still be there.

KSB2 - SSB

KNB2 - noise blanketer
KAF2 - audio filter
KAT2 - auto tuner
MH-2 -- mic

Reason I'm considering selling is I need something with 10-20 watts on 432

Jay ...

For the past few months, I have been keeping track of the prices obtained on
Ebay for Elecraft rigs. (I know, too much time on my hands - I need a K3 to
build!) I believe this to be a fair indication of actual value. The
average price of a K2 without the 100W amp has been $746.

For others who may be interested, more complete data is listed below. I did
not include rigs that were partially assembled, non-functional or that
seemed to be in poor condition. There will be a different mix of options,
but I did not account for this.

Rig# sold Ave Price
K1 20$ 319
KX1 9$ 451
K2 20$ 746
K2 100W 8$ 1093

Re: [Elecraft] Value of K2??

2006-07-10 Thread Joe-aa4nn

It would be misleading to average out the price for a K2 because
one knows not of the options installed. In K0GU's offering the
asking price should start with the price of the 4 kits, viz. $776.00.
Buyer pays shipping. Any more than that would be too much.

[Elecraft] Value of K2??

2006-07-09 Thread Jay Kesterson
I have someone interested in buying my much neglected K2. Since I have
only put about two hours on the rig it should go to someone that will
put it to use. But need to get an idea of it's value. I searched the
archives and got few hints. Would appreciate ideas as to the value by
either post or Email.

K2 # 3745
K160RX
KNB2
KSB2
Built by a builder listed on Elecraft site. Keying mod kit and firmware
installed when K2 was built.

Purchased Feb 2004 - Built Aug 2004

thanks,
