What is the worktable, is the head?. Or is it the place where the
piece to be machined is placed?.

Right now the head is mounted, but, I've not made the photograph.

I'll try to put it in a couple of days

The hexagon at the base is intended to put a table to fix the
piece, but we have not still designed/made it.

Thanks for your interest

Hi, Jaime

I have the same trouble like you with axis 2.2.0
Can anybody help us?
What is wrong?

Machined was homed first. It does seem that using end and backspace
clears the problem.
Thanks everyone.

Ohh, you may have to be "homed". Are you homing all your axes?
If not, then EMC can't figure out whether you are within the
software limits on the axes. (I'm not sure why it affects the
touch-off function, as that doesn't involve motion, but I think
there is a problem if you have not homed.)

I think it reinterprets the characters in the window after every
change, not just when you click the enter button. So, when you
are in the middle of wiping out an old number and putting in a
new one, you could have something that has more than one decimal
point, a space between digits, a minus sign in the middle,
whatever, that can't be interpreted as a valid number.

Glad that fixed it, Chris and Jeff write pretty bulletproof
code, so I would have been surprised that a bad entry would
actually kill Axis.

Re: [Emc-users] Touch Off

2007-09-18 Thread Andy Ibbotson
Jon,
Bad entry didn't kill AXIS, I just closed the app and reopened it as a
test. You are correct the text box appears to evaluate each entry so
non numeric characters evaluate to an error. I noted tonight that if I
typed in a space I got the error, I then typed a zero and the form
evaluated the entry as a numeric of value zero. So I last night there
must have been some character left in the text box which caused the
error, I think that, as stated earlier, using the end key and backspace
key is the way to clear things.

Andy

[Emc-users] User Interface

2007-09-18 Thread AKSYS Tech Pty Ltd
Hi,
I have been playing around with the different user interfaces for EMC
and have a couple of questions. I was initially interested in using the
"MINI" interface but I would like to be able to backplot my code before
actually running the machine - is this possible? My other question about
the "MINI" interface is , can it be used for lathe work i.e threading???
If my understanding is correct, "AXIS" seems to be the only one that
will allow lathe threading, but is there a way to edit the tool table
via the user interface, or do you have to manually open the tool file
and edit it there? Also with "AXIS" is there a way to set & store Work
Offsets other than G54?

Thanks again
Andrew

Mini does not have a preview plot feature. AXIS is the only GUI with
this capability.

Yes, the dialect of g-code is exactly the same no matter which GUI you
use.

AXIS doesn't have a tool-table editor built in. In the upcoming EMC 2.2
it will be possible to re-load the tool table and open an external tool
editor (such as the gedit text editor) from the menu in AXIS.

In the upcoming EMC 2.2 it will be possible to set any G5x coordinate
system offset using Touch Off. In 2.1.7 and earlier, only the G54
coordinate system can be set this way.

Ohh, thank you thank you thank you! I just ran into this last
week when rerunning the same code with slightly different
diameters entered in the tool table to correct for tool
deflection, and it was just the slightest bit cumbersome.
With TkEMC, you can always bring up the tool table from the GUI
and at least verify the desired values have indeed been loaded
into EMC. You can't do that with Axis - you can verify the
desired values are in the FILE, but not loaded into EMC (or am I
wrong?)

I already have this loaded from the CVS, again a great improvement!

In EMC 2.2, you could also use G41.1/G42.1 for this kind of
operation; it might be a bit more natural to edit the gcode
instead of the tool table.

[Emc-users] Mazak pulsecoder

2007-09-18 Thread Dave Engvall
Hi,

My Mazak has the orginal pulsecoder like the one that came off the
front panel of the Mazak at Galesburg.

Since I have unused encoder channels on my STG I'm wondering what
hoops I have to jump thru to
get it to drive jogging?

I did take a quick look at the wiki but since my setup will be
different than the Galesburg one it really cannot be used for
an example; at least by me. :-(

Dave

Re: [Emc-users] Install to a USB Key (Peter Todd)

2007-09-18 Thread Marc van Doornik
How about using UnionFS
(http://www.filesystems.org/project-unionfs.html) for this purpose? This
would allow for a RO root system with some directories in a ramdisk, as
well as a /home directory on the USB drive. Check out Slax, Morphix or
even Knoppix (I believe) for an example of this. This way, we can
probably build a reliable and fairly speedy system at the cost of a $25
stick.

Just my EUR. 0.02,

Marc.

If you can test the encoder counter with halmeter and it works with your
wheel then it's a fairly simple thing to hook up the relevant pins to
EMC. Jogging specifically is hooked up to the motioncontroller in EMC,
but some other things you might want to do from a hardware front panel
require halui.

My initial setup is described here:
http://www.anderswallin.net/2006/11/jogging-emc2/

I invite anyone with energy and enthusiasm to take the text and scripts
from my page, make them better, and publish on the wiki!

regards,

Anders
