you get sounds... it's working. not broken. :) as i said - in elementary_config
there is an audio section - you can mute those sounds... if they are coming
from efl. so if that is an entry widget in elementary you will get those sounds
unless you mute them.

On 'Enter password for root' panel, I get typing noises.

that's an option in terminology you can turn on and off. also for all entries in
elementary it's also an option - elementary_config has options under audio to
mute sounds (specific types of sounds - you can mute them all if you like).

I use e and efl from git based off here
https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/X11:Enlightenment:Nightly and
everything works fine, I can even send some audio to my laptop speakers
and other apps to my dock if I feel like it.

Hello,

Sorry, for not respondig for a long time.

Because, I thoght, my issue might be caused by openSUSE's security
policy.
So, I posted my issue to openSUSE's users mailing list, then bugzilla.

But, I've not got any answer, still now.

Anyway, I understood, the system sounds works  after installing
enlightenment, just like like  PnP.

Is this right?

Today, I can get the login souns as follows;

  1. winthin settings wigdets,

   I addes 'pulseaudio' to startup application

  2, edited the file 'startup.sh' in /etc/profile.d/ like this;

ogg123 /usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo/service-login.oga

Then, I get the login sound. But, it's the only system sound.

I'm wondering, I've not solved my problem.

Any hints?

oh! it seems something is broken when pulse starts - like where it thinks $HOME
is or wherever it wants to read user config files from. there is something
broken on your system there that should not be. :) i suspect once you figure
that out and fix it it should all magically start working.

syslog, though i don't know why it exits for a failure.
Pavucontrol still works as usually, as i think it connects to the
running daemon when it is launched, but the mixer icon doesn't react. I
can still control volume running the E mixer, which has the playback tab
empty but all other tabs in a normal state.
Is there a way to restart only the mixer, not the entire E session, in
order to connect to the live pulseaudio system?

via a scheduled job. This is what systemd tells about it:

Is this phenomena within your expectations?

again - libpulse handles connecting to and
talking to pulseaudio. the mixer module just uses libpulse to talk to
pulseaudio. loss of connection would suggest pulseaudio is going away and that
closes the connection.

yes, it's a pulseaudio policy, mpv does the same to me and switches to ALSA, 
but works.

oh... this is just aplay's pulse support not liking $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR because you
have inherited that environment variable from the user and that points to the
user (UID 1000) runtime dir. the runtime dir is the "freedesktop standards"
directory to put sockets and other "only used at runtime" files that do not
need to stay after a user has logged out or the system restarts. so this is
where some temporary data and socket and such files goe. it's normally in some
tmpfs or ramdisk so it consumes ram/ to put stuff here, so don't put large
files that stay around unless you like to allocate that ram for that.

I don't know. All I can think of was pulseaduio not running (as your user - not
as root or some other user). All Enlightenment does is talk to the pulseaudio
daemon using libpluse - like you use xlib to talk to the xserver.

I don't know. enlightenment just uses libpulse and pa library functions to talk
to pulseaudio.  this will have nothing to do with efl and it's just
enlightenment doing this directly.

Certainly.
In fact, I could enjoy musics, videos, via audacious, vlc, mpd, etc.

But strangely, after installing the new efl It turn into a failure
like this;

$ systemctl --user start pulseaudio.service 
Job for pulseaudio.service failed because the control process exited with error 
code.
See "systemctl --user status pulseaudio.service" and "journalctl --user -xe" 
for details.

Nevertheless, I can enjoy multimedias, as before.

we no longer support xine. most of the above options are also defaults.

those are the simple options i use when building the arch efl-git package.
ephysics has been disabled now by default (and no one has complained beyond the
only demo of ephysics now not able to run - but it was the demo...).

disabling pdf is probably not going to be good for thumbnailing of pfd's in efm
too - this will be broken now too. and the rest are dwefaults. the only things
you enabled that you should that are not default are that i used above:

1. fb -> this is specific to linux and fb (/dev/fb devices) are being
deprecated in linux in favor of drm/kms
2. drm -> this is linux specific and the newer framebuffer api, but as it's not
"universal" it's not on by default.
3. wl -> wayland is not on by default. it's too new to be considered universal.
4. i switched to lua from luajit because luajit seems to have some bugs on
arm64/aarch64 where it will crash on some workloads. lua is slower but it's
stable.
5. i disabled bindings, examples and tests just to get a faster build.
6. the network backend of connman is what e prefers but it otherwise is not
really that important.

otherwise defaults are pretty good and what you want. also -Dwl=true in
enlightenment will be something you want too if you are enabling it in efl.
otherwise pulseaudio etc. support will be on by default in efl. but this is not
needed for e to make it's mixer work. this audio support in efl enables
ecore_audio lib api that allows edje (and any app using it) to make sounds. e
will by default enable the mixer and pulseaudio support. it uses libpulse to
talk to pulseaudio and what you see int he gui is what pulseaudio tells e to
show (what devices exist - the volume and so on). so my guess is pulseaudio is
