I run Enlightenment on my main machine. I also have
Gnome and KDE installed, so that I can use/explore
their programs when I so desire. Enlightenment is the
core of my system. I have been using it since I
discovered it running under gnome in 2000.

I run Fluxbox on my laptop computer; it is has a

speed and to try out something new. Fluxbox is very
quick, but I would never want to be without E (it's so
smooth).

I regularily run the following apps:

gkrellm system monitors, sticky
Eterm terminal (used to use aterm)
gqview images collection
firefox web browsing
xmmsaudio
konqueror file manager (might switch to a gtk one)
[g]vim text, code
gimp2d graphics
openoffice spreadsheets, documents
gaiminstant messenger

... etc

To all those who have contributed to E, thank you.

Question: Do you use a desktop enviroment such as KDE and/or GNOME
with Enlightenment DR16?
I use E with all of GNOME 2.4 The only thing I've changed is to configure
Nautilus not to draw the desktop (A hidden gconf key) so that multiple
desktops work as I like them to.

The only thing that metacity etc.do better is maximising of windows. I have
a feeling this can be configured in the Theme as well, but have yet to
fathom it.

In my opinion, ideal behaviour is for the maximise button to cause the
window to fill the entire screen bar the panel. Not just to expand into the
available free space like it does at the moment.

Any help with that greatly appreciated.

Simon

Hello,

I only use enlightenment (0.16.6-1.rh9) to control my desktop.

I need to switch to WindowMaker (wmaker) when I'm running the
PalmOS emulator (POSE) however, as it's use of FLTK or some other
factor, causes me to lose my desktop (X or e16) frequently, when
installing apps into the emulator. I never tracked down the cause.
If it was not for that glitch, I would run e16 100% of the time. I
have never found anything that comes close to the coolness
and power of enlightenment.

2004-02-09 Thread Viktor Kojouharov

Pure E here, with only xfrun4 bound to alt+f2 for quick launches. For apps, I try to
stay clear of Qt based apps.

as for the keyboard, you can change it using X itself. Look at how I've configured it:

Option XkbRules xfree86
Option XkbModel pc104
Option XkbLayout us,bg
Option XkbVariant ,phonetic
Option XkbOptions grp:ctrl_shift_toggle,lv3:win_switch,grp_led:scroll

that changes the keyboard with the ctrl+shift combo, and indicates it by lighting the
scroll led on the keyboard.
