OT: Outlook Social Connecter

2010-09-16 Thread Ryan Finnesey
I am having a problem with Outlook that is making me go a bit batty. I
cannot get the People Pane to show. I think it is part of the Outlook
Social Connecter. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Social
Connecter but I cannot get it to show any ideas from the group?

Re: Outlook 2007 - Add Message Sensitivity Button to Ribbon

2010-09-16 Thread Sean Martin
Thanks for the feedback. Further research proved that the only way to
programatically modify the ribbon in Outlook 2007 was via COM Add-in, which
is not something we want to take on at this time.

Out of curiosity, has any one used the Ribbon Customizer?

http://addins.howto-outlook.com/pschmid_ribboncustomizer

It looks like you need the purchased version to create custom Ribbons. I was
wondering what people thought of the product. The free version is pretty
limited

RE: CAS array question

2010-09-16 Thread Robinson, Chuck
Use two different CAS Array FQDN's, one for each site.
In DR, you would change the DNS record to point to the surviving site. Also be
sure you set the database property RPCClientAccessServer depending on where the
active database is.

Subject: CAS array question

I am working on my Exchange 2010 upgrade project and having a issue with the
whole multiple site CAS array naming.

Primary Site:
Redundant CAS, HT, Mailbox servers
Split DAG to replicate to DR site
All users mailbox will be active at this site
DR site:
CAS, HT, Mailbox servers
DAG copy of mailbox databases

So I create a CAS array at each site, CASA-Primary and CASA-DR. What do I use
for the FQDN for each CAS array? Can I use the same FQDN in each array, say
Outlook.company.com, and the DNS entry would point the VIP for primary site and
in the event of site failure I would update the DNS entry to point to the VIP
at the DR site?

How does this change if we decided to have active mailbox databases at each
site, and to make it simple we keep on the 1 DAG?

Good morning ya'll, hope everyone is well.

I'm designing multi-site Exchange 2010 setup and if "DR" site is in receive
mode only via DAG, meaning no active MBX connections from users, do you have to
license Exchange or can it just receive replicated data and the licensing
swings when DR is tested or declared? Licensing would be from our SPLA for the

RE: Outlook 2007 - Add Message Sensitivity Button to Ribbon

Hello all,

Office 2007

Is there a way to add the Sensitivity Option as a button on the Options ribbon
when a user opens a new message? There doesn't appear to be any options in
Group Policy but I was hoping there might be a registry modification that I
could use to create an ADM template.

I know you can add the Message Options button to the Quick Access Toolbar, but
the powers that be would prefer an actual "Sensitivity" button the user can
click on and select the sensitivity. Plus, there's the whole mess with ensuring
QAT settings follow roaming profiles.

Re: FW: Adding new email domain to Exchange 2003

2010-09-16 Thread Don Ely
I'd create a new recipeint policy with the new domain and let it apply to
your users. Then, if you want to consolidate them, go ahead and delete the
policy you created and add the domain to your default policy.

Caveat: If you have any of your users set to not get their update
automatically via recipient policy, this won't work well...

The other option is ldifde and add the new alias to your users...

Recipient Update Service should update it. You can also right-click the policy

been used before and removed. The two AD objects that reference this name have
been removed as well by searching it through AD. Is there another object(s)
that I need to find to remove as well? Is this why it's saying it cannot find
the server within AD?

Thank you,

I'm trying to create a DAG between two E2K10 servers. After I create the DAG
and click on manage the DAG I get the following error.

Task Add-DatabaseAvailabilityGroupServer writing error when processing record

Has anyone seen this error before? I'm stumped at the moment.

Yeah, I figured... looks like I'm manually entering the new email

:(

Would multiple recipient policies help with this?

Won't they get updated to reflect what the recipient policy says should

RE: DAG Creation

2010-09-16 Thread Joseph Heaton
I deleted that template, and used a different one. But in my case, I got an
error when trying to ping when joined to the domain. It messed up the IP
driver. Doesn't sound like your issue. I did see your other post about the
DAG name already being used, and I also ran into that issue while building my
lab environment, but didn't get a real resolution. I ended up using a
different name for the DAG and it worked. Hope you have better luck.

CAS array question

2010-09-16 Thread Senter, John

Licensing would be from our SPLA for the
client...

Good morning ya'll, hope everyone is well.

I'm designing multi-site Exchange 2010 setup and if "DR" site is
in receive mode only via DAG, meaning no active MBX connections from
users, do you have to license Exchange or can it just receive replicated
data and the licensing swings when DR is tested or declared? Licensing
would be from our SPLA for the client...

Shook

Task Add-DatabaseAvailabilityGroupServer writing error when processing record

Has anyone seen this error before? I'm stumped at the moment.

RE: Mobile Phones and Connection to Exchange 2010

2010-09-16 Thread Glen Johnson
I think it depends on the model of the phone, carrier and such.
We have 2 original droid phones with 2.2 on Verizon, both would not connect.
We have one use with an Incredible running 2.2 and it works fine. Not sure
what carrier, but I’m thinking it might be t-mobile.

If the android is running the 2.2 Froyo update, the exchange native client
won’t work, download the trial of the “touchdown” app and see if that connects
fine.

How are you connecting the Blackberry, they only work with exchange push…,
AFAIK there isn’t a local pull / Activesync client

Cheers!

Hello All:

We are trying to connect different types of mobile phones to our Exchange 2010
server OWA secure site (I know that we need to come up with a standard and I am
trying to force that). A couple of types of phones are blackberry’s (not using
the BES server for these connections) that uses the OWA feature to connect and
also one phone running the Android OS. Both of these users can log into their
OWA account just fine from a web browser, but they get authentication failures
when trying to put in the domain\username and password credentials from their
phones to try and sync e-mail. We are following the instructions to type in all
of the necessary info for the OWA on Exchange 2010. Has anyone run into this
issue before with Exchange 2010?

That would be the difference between webdav and ews.

Entourage 2008 EWS edition is available.

RE: Changing domain name

2010-09-16 Thread Peter Johnson
I can fully agree with everyone who has said don't do this.

I used to work for the distributors of one of the original suppliers of 3rd
party migration tools and even with these tools it's not an easy process.
Unless you have legislative or legal reasons to do it I don't see a return on
investment on the exercise.

If the only reason that it's required is to satisfy marketing or some such
requirement i.e. the current name offends someone's sensibilities it certainly
not worth the effort or the expense :)
If they are willing to spend the amount of money mentioned in these e-mails
then rather spend it on newer hardware in my opinion.

Subject: Changing domain name

My company has changed names several times. My boss and I have been asked to
change the netbios domain name so that it matches. We want to go one better to
rename the domain to a generic domain name, so that if and when the company
changes names again, we won't have to go through this again. We have an
exchange 2007 system, with 2 mail servers and 2 hubs. What are my options to
rename the exchange server? Do I have to rebuild?
