Rebecca, thank you very much for your sweet email - I appreciate it so
very much. When I felt that he might be getting ready to cross the

leave me here without you, Garfunkle and I realized that it was
selfish and cruel thing for me to ask.. so.. I asked him.. no matter
where you are, I will always love you, and think of you.. our souls will
be together.. so if you need to go... don't worry.. I will be ok.. just
remember that everyone loves you so very much.. you are and always will
be my favorite Garfunkle..

I wish he did not suffer too much at the end.. he had a difficult time
breathing at the end.. but now he is free of pain.. and feeling better.

aw, hideyo, i'm so sorry that garfunkle had to leave. but i'm happy
for both of you, that you had some really good memory-making time
together before he left.

i see him racing around at the bridge, big grin on his face, being all
healthy and happy--and carrying all your love with him

the holding them and crying for them not to go--oh, i wish i didn't
know that one so well. i know i have no right to keep them with me FOR
me when it's their time i still can laugh as i remember hugging
one of my darlings, telling her that it was okay for her to go
whenever she needed to, that i loved her and would be fine, thanking
her for being such a good companion--then, five minutes later, crying
into her neck, "mommy's not ready to let you go!" and, the next

that was most important...

reunion with Garfunkle

2005-12-01 Thread Hideyo Yamamoto

Hi, everyone.  I talked to my baby, Garfunkle via
Jasmine who is  my AC last night.

After Jasmine connected with Garfunkle, and before I started
asking questions, she just started expressing how surprised she was as to how
much Garfunkle loves and misses me – she said, oh my gosh, Hideyo, I can’t
believe how full of love Garfunkle is for you, and how much he misses you.
He is sending you so much love to you right now.  And that made me
cry.  He is feeling so wonderfully physically – he just misses me
very much (in a physical sense) – I apologized to Garfunkle that I should
have noticed his illness sooner so I could have saved his life.. and he told me
–not to regret anything I did for a second… he is where he needs to
be right now and before he came into this life, he knew what he was getting
into.. he said that being with me was the best part of his life.. (I rescued
him as a stray boy when he was already an adult) –he got at times
stressed out by all other kitties around.. but he said that it was not too bad..

She told me that he is right there with you, can you feel
him?  He told me that he is not going to anywhere – he is going to
be right here with me – so not to worry.. he also has a couple of kitties
he was closed to.. and he will also connect with him on a spiritual level, he
told me not to worry.. Jasmine thought he is such a special cat! And she couldn’t
believe the strength of the bond we have for each other…

I am feeling much better knowing that Garfunkle is feeling
happy and is right besides me.. he said that he hears my voice all the time (I
call him name still all the time, talking to him) – there was a big hole
in my heart,, now my baby Garfunkle filled it with his love and I feel a whole
again…

hard to purr – I love this boy – he is one of my favorite feral boy
– I am going to spend as much time as possible, and praying that a

Hi Wendy and list,
I heard from Hideyo today, she had wonderful news. Not only is
Garfunkle still with us, but he's improved! His temp is up to, I think
she said 99.6, (still low, but so much better). He's not eating on his
own, but he's moving around more and he doesn't appear to be as
jaundiced. She thinks the subq fluids must be flushing his system, but
she still doesn't know exactly what the problem is. Keep praying and
sending her and Garfunkle good thoughts!

Re: reunion with Garfunkle

2005-12-01 Thread TenHouseCats
wonderful, hideyo--i think that we all HOPE this is what our critters
could/would tell us. (i also think that this is exactly the
reassurance we would get if we were able to hear from them directly--i
know i'll try to remember, next time that one moves on, that they
really ARE fine, that they know that we did the best we could, and
that our love follows them onto the next stage of the journey--and
that only their bodies leave us, not their hearts.)

Hideyo,

Thank you so much for sharing your communication with
Garfunkle with us. It makes me feel better and I am
going to go home tonight and talk to Cricket out loud
while my husband and nephew wonder if I am crazy. But
I don't care. I just want to connect with Cricket
again.

I am starting to think I am seeing things, mainly when
I am in my bed at night. My husband is sick right
now; he has a little cold and last night I woke up
because he was restless and making noises in his
sleep. When I looked his way, I swear I saw these
clear bubbles floating up from his body. It was the
strangest thing and I know I was awake and I'm not
taking any drugs so I know it wasn't a hallucination.
I have no idea what it was but I like to think maybe
it was Cricket's spirit. It's been a little weird in
our house since Cricket died on a weird, kind of
unexplainable level.

I so glad you got to communicate with Garfunkle, and
that he is happy and sends so much love to you. You
must be relieved!

:)

with Garfunkle

Hi, everyone.  I talked to my
baby, Garfunkle via Jasmine who is  my AC last
night.
After Jasmine connected with
Garfunkle, and before I started asking questions, she just started expressing
how surprised she was as to how much Garfunkle loves and misses me – she said,
oh my gosh, Hideyo, I can’t believe how full of love Garfunkle is for you, and
how much he misses you.  He is sending you so much love to you right
now.  And that made me cry.  He is feeling so wonderfully physically –
he just misses me very much (in a physical sense) – I apologized to Garfunkle
that I should have noticed his illness sooner so I could have saved his life..
and he told me –not to regret anything I did for a second… he is where he needs
to be right now and before he came into this life, he knew what he was getting
into.. he said that being with me was the best part of his life.. (I rescued him
as a stray boy when he was already an adult) –he got at times stressed out by
all other kitties around.. but he said that it was not too bad..

She told me that he is right there
with you, can you feel him?  He told me that he is not going to anywhere –
he is going to be right here with me – so not to worry.. he also has a couple of
kitties he was closed to.. and he will also connect with him on a spiritual
level, he told me not to worry.. Jasmine thought he is such a special cat! And
she couldn’t believe the strength of the bond we have for each other…

I am feeling much better knowing
that Garfunkle is feeling happy and is right besides me.. he said that he hears
my voice all the time (I call him name still all the time, talking to him) –
there was a big hole in my heart,, now my baby Garfunkle filled it with his love
and I feel a whole again…

Dear Wendy, I can so guarantee that Cricket's strong soul is right
besides you, too! Jasmine also shared her experience regarding her
recent lost kitty who died of cancer.. she saw her in her room and all
of sudden, she said, that her emptiness of feeling from losing her went
away, and she was filled with love from her kitty.. yep.. keep talking
to Cricket, he can certainly hear you and sees you..

Much love to you and Cricket.

Part 2: A miracle of Garfunkle

2005-11-16 Thread Hideyo Yamamoto

I cried and cried and told him how sorry I was not to
realize how sick he was sooner – he acted so normal, and the only reason
I decided to take him to a vet a couple of days prior to was because he felt
thinner – when I took him to the vet earlier, I found out that his liver
was compromised from what we could tell from blood work and he had lost 3.5 lb
from 15 months ago.. but again, he acted normal and happy still, and I was
going to keep an eye on him, but never thought that he was going to be
deteriorate so quickly.. I simple couldn’t believe that this was
happening to us.

So, from the time on, I decided to stick by him for the rest
of the time he got, and we had together, I did not sleep, I just kept giving
him warm fluid twice a day so that he won’t be cold when he
crossed,  I prayed for a miracle, but I sensed that it’s probably a
difficult one to get, as his body seems to start shutting down and his body was
cold… still.. and his breathing got really labored on and off. And I
thought of taking him to a vet to put him sleep if it would have continued.. but
it didn’t…

The next day,  a miracle happened.. I touched him, and
he felt a little warmer - so I checked his temperature and it registered!
It was 93 something, It’s still low.  but it registered!  I was
so excited.  I thought first it was because of a warm fluid.. but what the
heck!  It’s registered!!! You will be surprised how much we take for
granted of a normal temperature!  I don’t get scared of high fever
anymore, as it means that a body still has a strength to generate the
temperature.. but when the temp is low.. I know it’s a bad sign…and
I was so excited to have 93 temperature on him!

Anyway, I did not sleep next day, either, I kept doing the
same thing,,, in the middle of night 4 am, I went to Walgreen to get some
laxtone (?) which is supposed to help get rid of toxins in liver.. I told
Garfunkle.. to wait for me while I ran on an errand, and not think about
crossing the bridge.. anyway..he waited for me, the next day came, the temp was
even higher, like 96… and I started thinking that is he feeling
better? I spoke to my AC, Jasmine, a day before, and he did not mind if I
put him sleep then. he felt that he found a way out and he felt that his time
was approaching.. I asked if he was in pain,, and she said not.. just a bit
uncomfortable, he feels some type of blockage on his left side.. so, I thought,
if he is not in pain, I am going to try to see if I can make it better…

And the next day, I talked to jasmine again, as expected, he
was feeling much better.  The problem has not gone away, but he is feeling
much better.

Now, his temperature is back to normal, 101.5 he is not
100% well or anything, he still does not eat, but he is definitely feeling
better and he is definitely alive!!!

He moves around a bit.. he can even jump on a couch (before
he couldn’t even walk at all .. he would crawl… - he is still
weak.. but if you see him on Friday, you will be shocked how much he
improved!  I just never saw a cat who was that close to death, and made it
through… I am just so proud of my boy.  Everyone, thank you for all
your prayers, but please continue to pray for him as he is going to need
it!  But I have to tell everyone don’t give up to soon, because
a miracle could happen!  And I was this close to give it up!

Also, Ruby-E, my feral girl is doing much better, she is a
happy camper now, she eats better and play more – I am glad that I got
her dental done after all.

And I got all 4 cats out of the pound yesterday whose owners
are in jail as mentioned in the previous email – they got URIs from the
pound, but now they are safe and sound --- I cried to see them again.

Pls read part I: A miracle of Garfunkle

2005-11-16 Thread Hideyo Yamamoto

Hi, everyone – I wanted to first thank you for all
your prayers!  It worked!  A big miracle happened for my baby
Garfunkle –

It was last Friday morning, when I saw him just laying on
the floor, not moving.  Usually, whenever he sees me, he would just stop
whatever he is doing, and come running to me  – this time, he did
not.  I called his name a couple of times, and he did not move – and
I touched his body.  His body was cold as ice, and I started panicking, he
is still breathing, but not moving.  I grabbed a thermometer and tried to
check his temperature,,, and it did not bring any number.  And I remember
thinking.. oh no, it’s broken.  SO I tried a couple of times and
then, I realized that the thermometer was not broken, his temperature was just
too low to be even registered.

And I freaked out, I wrapped him in a blanket and started
driving to a vet – when I picked him up, he made this crying noise that I
never heard before, it sounded so painful.  Then, I started crying.
I felt that I was going to lose him very very quickly here.  I got to the
vet, and the vet looked at him and told me that I should put him sleep.
And I remember keep saying that, this cannot be happening -  I and
Garfunkle are not ready for this – he was just fine until last night, he
was eating normally and playing normally, and we cuddled together like usual
– he is jaundiced and has a liver problem.. but still he was just fine
until this morning…..But the vet thought that he is not going to make
it..but she recommend that I put him on IV – and I said that I would give
him fluid at home, if there is a good chance that he is not going to make it, I
don’t want to leave him here… she said that he is definitely going
to die if I don’t put him on IV - she suggested that she give an
injectable of antibiotics and steroid to calm inflammation of liver if there is
any inflammation present anyway.  So she went back to get them.. and when
she came back with them and was ready to give them to Garfunkle, and
Garfunkle’s breathing got really labored and his head just hang towards
back .. and the vet said, I think he is dying now..and she did not think that
she needs to give them to him anymore –so she asked if I wanted him to
put to sleep.. I say.. I want to take him home because I wanted to cross the
bridge at home and started driving back home.

All I can say to Garfunkle is to wait until he gets home to
cross the bridge, I wanted him to pass at home that he is comfortable.. I
started driving like a maniac and arrived home.  And I called my BF, Greg
to come say good bye to him and he did.  He used to call Garfunkle
“old man” – as Garfunkle loves to sit on a rocking chair and
he was Greg’s favorite cat, too.  As Greg pet Garfunkle, he was trying to
purr as loud as he can possible can ….

2005-11-18 Thread Hideyo Yamamoto
Hi, I am sorry that I have not written back to you about my Tsubomi, as
you know, things have been a bit hectic with the animal control issue,
and of course with unexpected condition of Garfunkle.

Garfunkle is doing good, he still is not back to normal and may take
months before. When I thought I was going to lose him last Friday, I
prayed that I needed more time to spend time with him because I was so
unexpecting of it.. I feel that my wish was listened somehow, and now
God is giving me more time to be with him, I don't know how long it is
going to be to tell you the truth, I am just grateful that I have him
today. I am taking a day by day, enjoying the time I have with him.
His tummy is all extended, probably due to the liver disease and he is
still yellow, and am still assist feeding most of the time since he is
not taking enough calorie on his own. But he moves around a little bit
and does not seem to be in pain. He purrs and loves to be scratched
under his chin. Every moment I have with him and (with any of the
kitties) is such a precious moment. I am going to treasure every
moment..

Tsubomi was confirmed positive on IFA test. But I am not going to be
sad - because she is full of a life and has so much energy and affection
- she is out of crate now and sharing the space with Ginger - they are
not necessarily the best friends, but not enemy either. I am still
considering having you (kerry) be the new mommy of Tsubomi.. but I am
also trying to see if there is anyway I can keep her with ginger and see
if it works out - so if you could give me a bit more time to think about
it, I will be so grateful!

Ginger is in heat again,, and am still assist feeding her.. now she is
with Tsubomi, it's hard to tell how much or if ginger ate anything.. but
I am force feeding her anyway -

Please please pray that my Garfunkle and Ginger will only get better and
will stay with me for a long time.

Thank you!!

Thank you very much for your kindness as always, Kerry. And thank you
for mentioning about Ghandi and Ruby-E. They are doing great. Ruby-E
is doing so much better after dental work and I am so glad - since she
is very feral, I really cannot give any medications (it was very
traumatic to catch her to take her to the vet for a dental work) -
Ghandi is such a sweet baby, he screams at my name (or at least that's
how it sounds to me), everytime, I see him, he just loves me and I love
him! All of the kittens are doing very well.

I wish I could build an extension of the house so that I could provide a
bit bigger place for Ginger and Tsubomi Ginger and Tsubomi actually
shares (alternates) the top portion of the cat condo so that each can
get to see outside resting which makes me very happy!

How are all your babies, Kerry?

Thank you!!

I'm still a bit clumsy with Pookie's subQs---I had thought I had it
straightened out but I went thru 2 needles last night. He's very patient
with me luckily. My other cats are slowly getting used to him. He is
very serene---he simply ignores all the stare-downs, and the occasional
Tiger-swat. He's a real class act. I heard a bit more about his
history---he was living in a car this summer, with his human mom, in the
sweltering heat. She apparently was buying ice bags to keep them both
cool. I don't know how his CRF figured in all this. She has had Pookie
all his life (he's 15) since she was a teen, so she must badly miss him.
It seems she will be in a situation to take him back around Christmas.
I've never fostered for someone before. I know already it will be tough
to give him up, though. He has a home with me as long as he needs.
I'm going to be in touch with Nina re Tiger. I need to figure out what's
going on with him and how to help him. He goes outside the box once
every other week now. My instinct tells me it's stress-related partly
because he doesn't get enough attention to meet his needs (which are
much greater than my other cats)...maybe he really is a cat that needs
to be on his own with no competition.
My positives, Mickey and Momcat seem fine, as do my other two negs,

I'm so glad to hear the news today is good, Hideyo---you and your
furballs, especially Garfunkle, have been through such a lot in recent

Of course, Hideyo---take as much time as you need in deciding about

she would be going to a loving home.) I'm sorry about her IFA result,
and full of admiration for your positive approach. That will be very

Hideyo--thank you for your lovely offer--guess what--it's Terumo/18G that I
use now! (I did have monoject to begin with till a thoughtful shelter
volunteer gave me a box of the "pink" ones). Tonight's a fluid night, so
fingers crossed! I guess it's a case of practice makes perfect but it would
have been better if the practice could have taken place on an inanimate
object, not poor Pookie.
Thanks again tho, Hideyo!

RE: Tsubomi, Ginger and Garfunkle update - To Nina and Kerry

2005-11-21 Thread Hideyo Yamamoto
Hi, Kerry - actually Carol (person in Jail) asked if she should have
euthanized them before. I said "hell no" - I am not sure how dependable
she is going to be as she is a drug addict (sort of) and am not sure how
clean she can stay when she gets out of jail. But I told her not to
worry about the kitties, I will take care of them indefinitely and she
was very grateful. In a way, I am hoping that she never will ask for
them (she was evicted from the apartment so she does not have a place to
live either).

Well, about tiger, I came to realize that some kitties don't like to
touch the litter at all. And it might reinforce the idea now you
mentioned that Tiger does not want to cover the litter box. I have a
cat whose name is narita - she does not want to pee in the litter box,
but does not mind doing so in a town (or any soft place) in a litter
box, she does number 2 in the litter box, but she put all her legs on
the top of the litter box and she does not put her feet in the box at
all (of course, she does not cover the poops either) -

I am not sure if it's the case with Tiger or not. I realized that I
couldn't make her do what I wanted her to do (use a litter box like a
normal kitty), so I accommodate her need or so that she won't keep
peeing on my bed or couch (yikes) ...

I hope it's not the case with Tiger and it might be just temporary.. but
you might want to try a different type of litter --- do you use clay
litter now?
I use wheat kind..

Love.

terumo -- it's so smooth that you don't even know that you are poking...
with Monoject.. I had to use a couple of needles when Papa needed fluid
(he is my FIV boy who had a very thick skin) because it took so much to
poke -

Wow, it will be hard to give up Pookie, won't it? I have 4 cats that I
reclaimed from the pound the other day (the owner is in jail) and am
going to have a hard time to return them to her once she gets out of
jail, because she is sort of drug addict and she has some other mental
illness and am worried that their safety might be at risk.. they are
just so scared right now.. but started coming out a little bit --- I
love them very much, too!

As for Tiger, have you tried to add another box in a separate place or
put a litter box not filled with litter, but with a towel or something..
your instinct is probably right and maybe there is something that can
fix with homeopathy, which I will ask with my doctor.. the mean time,
you might want to try to add another litter box with different litter or
but old rug in the litter box (it works very well with a couple of my
non-litter box user kitties)

Love,

Hideyo

Mine are doing well; no one is sick just now, knock on wood, thanks,
Hideyo.
I heard a bit more about his
history---he was living in a car this summer, wi

Hideyo,

I have a kitty that does not use the litte box
regularly, much to our dislike, and I am so going to
try that towel in a kitty box thing because everytime
I have clothes on the floor to put into the wash, she
tinkles on them! I will let you know how this goes
and thanks so much for the tip!

Carrie,

Kitty urine washes out quite nicely in the wash I've
learned, so just throw the rug in the wash if you
don't think it would become too unraveled. A towel
would be a better choice because those can be washed
over and over. If this works for Pepper, I will buy
several cheap towels for her and wash them only with
each other. I am so excited because it's been a
problem!

2005-11-23 Thread Hideyo Yamamoto
Oh.. I know what you mean... but not everyone will prefer to use towel..
trust me, I have got a couple of dozens at home... you are right, some
may decide to pee on towel instead of regular litter box (some of mine
do), but others just like to use normal litter box.. I guess my
alternative was for them to pee on the bed or on couch (which happens
still).. good luck!

Please do.. they basically like the concept of a "box" to pee.. just
some don't like the feeling/texture of litter to be walking on.. if you
know what I mean..I hope it will work on your kitties.. let me know how
it goes..

Hideyo,

I have a kitty that does not use the litte box
regularly, much to our dislike, and I am so going to
try that towel in a kitty box thing because everytime
I have clothes on the floor to put into the wash, she
tinkles on them! I will let you know how this goes
and thanks so much for the tip!

And I remember keep saying that, this cannot be happening -  I and
Garfunkle are not ready for this – he was just fine until last night, he
was eating normally and playing normally, and we cuddled together like usual –
he is jaundiced and has a liver problem.. but still he was just fine until this
morning…..But the vet thought that he is not going to make it..but she
recommend that I put him on IV – and I said that I would give him fluid
at home, if there is a good chance that he is not going to make it, I don’t
want to leave him here… she said that he is definitely going to die if I
don’t put him on IV - she suggested that she give an injectable of antibiotics
and steroid to calm inflammation of liver if there is any inflammation present
anyway.  So she went back to get them.. and when she came back with them
and was ready to give them to Garfunkle, and Garfunkle’s breathing got
really labored and his head just hang towards back .. and the vet said, I think
he is dying now..and she did not think that she needs to give them to him
anymore –so she asked if I wanted him to put to sleep.. I say.. I want to
take him home because I wanted to cross the bridge at home and started driving
back home.

All I can say to Garfunkle is to wait until he gets home to
cross the bridge, I wanted him to pass at home that he is comfortable.. I started
driving like a maniac and arrived home.  And I called my BF, Greg to come
say good bye to him and he did.  He used to call Garfunkle “old man”
– as Garfunkle loves to sit on a rocking chair and he was Greg’s
favorite cat, too.

I cried and cried and told him how sorry I was not to realize
how sick he was sooner – he acted so normal, and the only reason I
decided to take him to a vet a couple of days prior to was because he felt
thinner – when I took him to the vet earlier, I found out that his liver
was compromised from what we could tell from blood work and he had lost 3.5 lb
from 15 months ago.. but again, he acted normal and happy still, and I was
going to keep an eye on him, but never thought that he was going to be deteriorate
so quickly.. I simple couldn’t believe that this was happening to us.

So, from the time on, I decided to stick by him for the rest
of the time he got, and we had together, I did not sleep, I just kept giving
him warm fluid twice a day so that he won’t be cold when he
crossed,  I prayed for a miracle, but I sensed that it’s probably a difficult
one to get, as his body seems to start shutting down and his body was cold…
still.. and his breathing got really labored on and off. And I thought of
taking him to a vet to put him sleep if it would have continued.. but it didn’t…

I don’t get scared of high fever
anymore, as it means that a body still has a strength to generate the temperature..
but when the temp is low.. I know it’s a bad sign…and I was so
excited to have 93 temperature on him!

Anyway, I did not sleep next day, either, I kept doing the
same thing,,, in the middle of night 4 am, I went to Walgreen to get some
laxtone (?) which is supposed to help get rid of toxins in liver.. I told
Garfunkle.. to wait for me while I ran on an errand, and not think about
crossing the bridge.. anyway..he waited for me, the next day came, the temp was
even higher, like 96… and I started thinking that is he feeling
better? I spoke to my AC, Jasmine, a day before, and he did not mind if I
put him sleep then. he felt that he found a way out and he felt

Hideyo,     I'm glad to hear that Garfunkle is improving.  That truly is a miracle!  I don't know how you do all you do girlfriend.  I worry about you.  I LOVE that you are saving more cats, but I worry about you taking on more than you can handle.  I hate to lecture, and I know you probably hear it all the time anyway, but be careful not to take on more than you can handle.  As always you are in my thoughts and prayers.     tonyaHideyo Yamamoto <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:Hi, everyone – I wanted to first thank you for all your prayers!  It worked!  A big miracle happened for my baby Garfunkle – It was last Friday morning, when I saw him just laying on the floor, not moving.  Usually, whenever he sees me, he would just stop whatever he is doing, and come running to me  –

I simple couldn’t believe that this was happening to us.     So, from
the time on, I decided to stick by him for the rest of the time he got, and we had together, I did not sleep, I just kept giving him warm fluid twice a day so that he won’t be cold when he crossed,  I prayed for a miracle, but I sensed that it’s probably a difficult one to get, as his body seems to start shutting down and his body was cold… still.. and his breathing got really labored on and off. And I thought of taking him to a vet to put him sleep if it would have continued.. but it didn’t…     The next day,  a miracle happened.. I touched him, and he felt a little warmer - so I checked his temperature and it registered!  It was 93 something, It’s still low.  but it registered!  I was so excited.  I
thought first it was because of a warm fluid.. but what the heck!  It’s registered!!! You will be surprised how much we take for granted of a normal temperature!  I don’t get scared of high fever anymore, as it means that a body still has a strength to generate the temperature.. but when the temp is low.. I know it’s a bad sign…and I was so excited to have 93 temperature on him!     Anyway, I did not sleep next day, either, I kept doing the same

Hideyo,

I don't know if you were on the list when my Simon was sick, but he
was so close to death that I and everyone else was sure he would die within
hours-- could not even stand, had not eaten or drunk in days, jaundiced and with
lymphoma not responding to chemo.  I gave him steroids but they did not
seem to help.  I just stayed with him and held him, expecting him to die at
any point.  And then in the middle of the night he sat up and wanted water,
and then food, and then was running around the next day and able to get more
chemo and he lived another month feeling pretty good.  I do not tell you
this to scare you-- Garfunkel as far as I know does not have cancer so he may
heal entirely and have much more than a month, God-willing.  But I am
telling you this because everyone thought I should euthanize him when it seemed
so obvious he would die, and I am glad I didn't and he got that extra
month.  It really is impossible to know what will happen, and sometimes
miracles do.

Hideyo,

What a wonderful story! I can't believe Garfunkle
made it after being so sick! Wow! Your story made me
choke up and then laugh out loud at the wonderful turn
around. Miracles do happen and I believe in them.
Even if they don't happen for everyone, they do
happen. Your vigil and your belief in a miracle
brought him through. And I hope that everyone reading
your post realizes not to give up until after you just
have to.

So happy for you and Garfunkle-
:)
Wendy

Thank you, Wendy, very much. Garfunkle actually started eating last
night on his own! I brought the food to all the kitties and I did not
see Garfunkle where he usually rests and I was worried as to where he
went ---and he was right in front of me, waiting to be fed! I cried..
so unexpected. I know he has a long way to recover, and this does not
guarantee anything.. but at least, I have one more day with him that I
thought I did

Thank you for sharing the story of Simon –
I so agree, Michelle – you must have cried so hard when he stood up all
of sudden and eating and drinking… I am so glad that you had more time to
spend time with Simon after such a crisis --- it’s sort of like.. you are
giving a second chance to appreciate them even more.. huh?
