non horse...eBay has been hacked

2014-05-21 Thread Frederick Pack
This message is from: Frederick Pack

"eBay's morning just went from bad to worse. The e-commerce site confirmed
Wednesday that its corporate network was hacked and a database with users'
passwords was compromised. While eBay says there is no evidence that users'
financial information was accessed in the hack, the company is telling all
users to change their passwords.

eBay contacted CNET after this story was initially published, saying it
discovered "recently" that it was a victim of "a cyber attack on our
corporate information network, which compromised a database containing eBay
user passwords." The company's spokesperson told CNET there is "no evidence
that any financial information was accessed or compromised."

The statement follows an odd stream of events this morning when eBay-owned
PayPal posted a blog entitled "eBay, Inc. to Ask All eBay users to Change
Passwords." The blog post included nothing but the title, but quickly hit
the Web after it was retweeted dozens of times. The blog post was then
taken
down<https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/PayPal-Forward/eBay-Inc-To-Ask-All-eBay-Users-To-Change-Passwords>
from
PayPal's site, causing even more confusion for users of the online auction
house.

eBay has since posted information about the
hack<https://blog.ebay.com/ebay-inc-ask-ebay-users-change-passwords/>
on
its official blog. The company will ask all users to change their passwords
starting later on Wednesday."

Hi everyone. Jo Wilgus here again.

As you may know, my girlfriend and i have written a children's
book, titled
"Blakely", the Norwegian Fjord Pony. It is a cute little book which
was
written with our Grandchildren in mind. It seems to be a hit with
them. My son

said he has read it to my Grandson (age 3) about 50 times. hee, hee.
Debi says her Grandson took it to school on share day. Debi has
read it to her

Grandkids probably 1000 times. All good news.

Blakely is my mare's (Bryhyl Regn) foal and his sire is Obelisk ( Beth
Beymer). Blakely has gone on to do many fun events with his owner
Christi
Kipple. Most recently the Starfire Farm Quadrille at the Denver
Stock Show.

WOW!

I have placed the book on ebay and i have set up a pay-pal account
( thank you
steve). The link is below. I hope you all will take a look. Even
better,
place an order. It is a sweet and simple book, written with love
and pride for

the Fjord Horse.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

Competition wagon on eBay

2013-04-17 Thread David MCWethy
This message is from: David MCWethy <4nh...@gmail.com>

With the horses gone, I am needing to sell the competition wagon. This was
one of a number built by Lou Thiesen. He is the partner of Nancy Lenhert. He
took an interest in driving her Fjords, and, believing he could build a better
wagon than was on the market, set out to do just that, to fit her Fjords. He
has a background as a designer and builder of race car frames and suspension,
so was highly qualified to build wagons. Anyone who knows him will tell you
he is a perfectionist, and his skills show in this great wagon that is still
going strong. You will see from the pictures that not only is it well built,
but also that it shows elegance of design.

I pulled it with my 13.2 mares and my 15 hand geldings. It went on the great
trip to Equitana where we did the Fjord breed showoff with the 20 horses we
brought. I drove this wagon with a four in hand there. An added highlight
was that John Lyons came aboard and with a bit of coaching drove four in hand
for the first time. Living history!

Anyway, this competition wagon is well scaled for Fjords. It is meant for
pairs and fours - too heavy for single. It is ready to hitch and go.

If it might work for you, ask me all the questions. The listing doesn't say,
but I can help arrange shipping, if needed. If its not for you, have a look
at my white pair pulling it. They were (still are) a great pair, and the
picture shows their spirit.

The listing:

Re: now available on ebay ... fjordhorse hide rug

2012-02-08 Thread coy...@acrec.com

This message is from: "coy...@acrec.com"

Do any of you who are horrified by the Fjord hide rug actually live a
completely vegan lifestyle -- meaning absolutely no animals died to
provide any of the products used in your life? If the answer is "no",
then it is rather disingenuous of you to be offended by this eBay listing.

The Fjord hide rug is no more "sickening" than the seller's springbok
pillow or sheepskin vests -- or any other item made of animal products.
Perhaps you should also send me some rude email as well, since I work
with leather, including horse? I have a roll of beautiful horse hide in
my workshop for custom belts, chaps, and other special projects.

My grandfather, born in 1900, honored his favorite riding horse by
having its hide tanned when it died. He raised hogs and cattle, hunted
and fished, and used everything he could from the creatures he raised,
except for the squeal and the moo. He saw nothing wrong with being a
responsible, ethical farmer, horse owner, and huntsman ... and neither
do I. --DeeAnna

Oh boy do I feel your pain!! My hubby and I did the exact same thing, although
these people got the hint and left our place before we went to court. We
received no money, have loads of their junk, a yard/pasture full of trash, lots
of repairs, and are much more skeptical of renters with a sob story. Lesson
learned.

The poor kids of people like this!! Our tenants let their kids play in the
waste oil buckets, then fussed when we wouldn't let them wash off in our horse
water tanks. The kids were never in school and certainly weren't learning
vocabulary or behavior that would help them succeed later in life.

Looking back, I'm amazed that they didn't shoot our horses. Although, we
believe their friends stole a bunch of our farm equipment after helping the
tenants move out (thankfully three hours away). None of our equipment was
recovered. G. So much for being kind and trusting.

I posted before the new year about my sometimes infatuation with tracking
down neat fjord horse ephemera on Ebay, (really a winter time habit I
think!)
I bid on and won what I think is one of the nicest post cards in the turn of
the century fjord tourist genre that I've seen in quite some time.
Here is the Ebay item number for the curious. (For those of you who are
fortunate to be ignorant of all things Ebay, simply find the Search area on
any Ebay page, cut + paste this number in, hit enter and you will find it):
370010573251

I particularly like the expression on the horses face, and the horse isn't
too shabby either. I also like the way the sender wrote on the face of the
card and the stamps are canceled on the face too.

Anyway, enjoy!

Saddle on ebay and how I use my breed of choice.

2007-05-09 Thread sam Stanley
This message is from: sam Stanley <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hello all,
I have just posted a saddle on e-bay that might be of interest. (sorry didn't
think of here till after I put up for auction)
It is a 16' wide close contact collegiate. Never ever used. I did add a nice
bridle to go with it.
I thought I might get interested in doing a bit more than the "every other
year" showing, but no.. not really. I Had placed it on 2 horses when I first
got to check for fit and it was just right for the wide tree fjords I have.

It's late I have been bathing ponies all day with various therapeutic
clients.. so please forgive my not putting my own add number in here. A search
on the above description should do the trick.

On that note I do find my Fjords are great for the type of therapeutic work I
offer here. I do have the good fortune to be able to pick and choose which
horses I feel are best suited to what person and what stage of need or goal.
Each one offers something different for me based on the temperment and skills.
I do this well and am fortunate to be finally stating to build a name for my
self in the local counseling and community help agency .

I also offer beginner and intermediate lessons. Some days are better than
others as far using fjords for this LOL they do have opinions of their own ;)
Always ready with a valuable lesson for any young child about just how strong
they are not!!

Off to bed with tired my self,

Saddle on eBay

2006-07-19 Thread coyote

This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

There is a used English saddle for sale on eBay, auction #230009495518.
I happen to be acquainted with the person selling it, and think the
saddle might be a good bet for someone in the market to buy one.

Bird's (the seller's) specialty happens to be sidesaddles, but she works
on regular saddles too, both English and western. Given what I know
about her, I would expect this saddle will have been carefully checked
over by Bird's expert eye and all necessary repairs made.

I thought maybe someone on this list might be interested in the saddle
since it is a wide tree, has a starting bid of $1.00, and is being sold
with no reserve. Shipping is listed at only $20.

Per the auction listing:
"...This is a Rossi y Caruso all purpose saddle, made exclusively for
Simco saddlery. It is a 17 1/2. The billets have been recently replaced
with Sedgwick Chrome middles, the real thing. The saddle was reflocked,
as well. The tree is solid. This is also a Wide tree. This will fit your
Quarter Horse or your wide Arabian"

Just in case anybody is keeping tabs on saddle widths. Our horses are about
14.1-14.2 and we got a couple of the Duett Companion Trail saddles, very nice
saddle. We got the 38cm as they fit our horses very well, but I do notice that
I maybe should have gotten them in 36cm as when we ride the horses and they get
in better shape, the 36 may have been a little better fit, but the 38 works
fine also. Also I noticed that the saddle is about maximum length you would
want to go on our Fjords to keep from interfeering with the rear hip movement.
A couple inches shorter would maybe be ideal, but it is working out fine. We
really like the saddles for the price, you won't be disappointed on the quality.

Genie,

Thanks for the info! We'll see about the Laser - as i might of mentioned it is
on trial. I s/b getting next week. It is a 200D, which from what research I did
do, seems to fit the broader backs better. My WB's withers aren't totally
'thoroughbredy' to the point they resemble a keel of a sailboat, but he would
probably do OK in a 32' cm tree, where the weegees are fine in a 35"-36"
depending on how "plush" they are. One thing I am worried about is seeing if
the knee/thigh blocks are a hindrence to me; if they are, back it goes!

I just want to report to the list that today was a spectacular day for riding
here in N Nevada! Like Taffy, we have about 3" minus of snow on the ground, but
we had blue skies w/ lots of clouds, and went riding at a 700 acre ranch about
2 miles away - (we trailer over). Had the place to ourselves, fresh snow, just
bunny + coyote tracks. The dogs never stopped running for 2 hours, and my mares
idelle and Imilie (1/2 sisters) were in the zip mode, so we did alot of work on
transitions and some lateral work, worked over stepover obstacles (downed trees
by the river) plus played the 'leap frog' game to keep their brains intact ;#)
The wierd thing is that even w/ a good long gallop, they never really broke a
sweat, but boy were they huffing + puffing, and still VERY alert! we practiced
riding side by side and I am totally stoked about putting them in a pair
togetherHappy riding all.

 It was the

well and I sold it immediately.

...I am about to try out a Laser adj tree saddle. It is reputed to fit wide
backed horses well, so I am gonna give it a go as it will be nice to have
a saddle I can use on my WB as well as the fjords. Currently I have a
Hubertus 36 cm all purpose/dressage model that fits the fjords
wonderfully and is a joy to sit in but sits too low on the WB w/ his
higher withers.

Hi Karen,

The Wintec Isabell puts one in a much more restricted position than
the Pro Dressage as it has a deeper seat and the front of the flaps
are further back. If one wants a saddle to "assist" you in getting
in the "proper" dressage position, it is good. I found that it
cranked my lower back in an uncomfortable position, gave me no room
to move in the saddle and forced my legs much straighter with a
longer stirrup than I like. The Pro Dressage is more classical with
a flatter seat with more forward flap and knee rolls and room to move
around in the seat. I actually ride in it with the knee rolls
removed. I was the one with the reservation about the gullet channel
width and the wider twist, but I still ride in it and enjoy it (the
price was right!).

I took the most advanced Laser (read expensive) CM Ultimate dressage
saddle on trial. I loved riding in it, but what I didn't like was
the lack of tree points. Instead of gradually dispersing the
pressure across a long area, the points ended abruptly and I didn't
feel that it was as stable on a wide Fjord as other dressage saddles
I had tried, and felt the short ends of the tree points might dig in.
The half panels are nice as they get you closer to the horse. If I
were trying them again, I might try the 747 which has a normal tree
with points, I think. The Prolite panels made very nice contact with
my fjords back. The saddle really did let my legs hang in the
correct position.

It also takes a lot of turns to make a significant change in tree
size and there is no way to easily reproduce your width setting from
time to time, thus it would not be easy to use regularly on two
horses that take different size trees. As you widen the tree, it has
less wither clearance also (just like going to the wider plates in
the Wintec).

I read w/ interest what Beverly had to say about the Duett saddles (I
have always admired them), and when I was surfin' on Ebay I saw this
trail saddle for sale:

http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-Duett-English-Tempo-Trail-Saddle-18-Seat_W0QQitemZ7219331139QQcategoryZ111280QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I totally agree that just because a saddle has a wide gullet, that it
doesn't gaurantee a good fit on a wide backed 'weegee. I forget who
posted about Wintecs being lousy in this respect, but i also found
Wintecs to be pretty lame in the way they it fit behind the gullet; thru
the middle of the back was too narrow, it still perched. It was the
Isabel Werth model, and I found the seat put me in a wierd position as
well and I sold it immediately.

The idea of synthetic saddles really appleal to me, as i too HATE
spending precious horse time cleaning tack (I only have 1 leather harness
now, all the other harnessses are synthetic!) Dagrun really likes the
Griffin wide backed saddles, and I saw hers and it fits nicely.

I am about to try out a Laser adj tree saddle. It is reputed to fit wide

did. Had this item on my mind.

When they asked for account info update, it dawned on me I never do ebaying
from work and ebay doesn't have my email address there, so why would they email
me there? Plus I recalled they never ask this stuff over the net. When I
checked the internet address again, I realized there was one letter different.
I also notified ebay, and changed my password for ebay and my account just
incase they picked it up when typing it in.

Have had the same phone type calls asking to verify password on now defunct aol
acct., mortgage info, etc. You gotta be careful and think it through...I
almost bit as was in a hurry!

harness for sale on eBay

2005-09-10 Thread David McWethy

This message is from: "David McWethy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I think this will be the last thing I have to sell! I listed on eBay the
pair harness I used when I drove cross country. It is Biothane (not Beta)
harness, created before Beta was introduced. It was my first experience
with synthetic harness, and I was very much impressed at how rugged it was.
The only thing that wore on this harness was the holes at the trace buckles.
The traces being sold with the harnesses are not the originals.

The listing on eBay is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:12&item=7182105359

I want to make clear that this is NOT Camptown Harness, although it
influenced harness that followed. It is very well made harness, and as I
say in the description, I have looked closely at each part, and there is no
significant wear or weakness. It is good harness for utility use, for
starting out in pairs, but not for presentation. There are no bridles, but
there are reins and two sets of traces - one set with D's and one set with
slots.

I am selling as is, as far as size. If anyone has questions about fit,
email me before bidding. It is "horse" sized harness. It could fit horses
in a range from 14 hands (drafty) to maybe even 16.

Carolyn,
I sell a lot on Ebay and had similar trouble. Ebay took almost a week
to reply to my
e-mails so, obviously that route is useless.
I can tell you that only the seller can see the bidder(s) e-mail addresses.
To send a second chance offer there's a button that the seller uses to do so
BUT the e-mail will come from Ebay themselves not from the seller's e-mail
address.

The way these bogus sellers do this is: They look up Ebay ID then hit
"contact member"
They don't know their actually e-mail addresses but can send an Ebayer a
question.
SO as usual the scammers find a way around the system.
There is a link on Ebay to report fraudulent sellers but as I said it took
almost a week to get a reply so, to me that wasn't very helpful.

Saddle Scam by way of EBAY

2005-02-12 Thread Fhtrp
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Saw this on another list.

Message: 2
Date: Wed, 09 Feb 2005 16:18:56 -0500
From: "Carolyn Proeber, Publisher, Art Calendar magazine"
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Subject: An amazing eBay saddle-for-sale scam

Hi, friends,

This is the most brazen thing I've heard of in a while. Recently I sold
a couple of no-fit and/or no-like saddles on eBay. One of them, an
Ansur, sold -- as expected -- for well over $1,000. Approx. 14 people
bid on it. I duly shipped off the saddle after receiving payment, and
the happy buyer posted good feedback and I thought the deal was over and
done with.

As it turns out, after an item's auction is over with, any active bidder
OR anyone who has put a "watch this item" onto their eBay page can see
ALL of the bids: who bid, and how much. This little detail will become
pertinent in a minute.

Yesterday, I received an e-mail from one of the "losing" bidders (she
wasn't even the second-highest!) asking for clarification -- she had
received two e-mails from separate e-mail addresses inviting her to take
advantage of a Second Chance offer! (Second Chance offers are sent if
the original "winning" bidder is unable or unwilling to consummate the
purchase.) She had gone WAY into the process of sending one of these
scammers money -- a whole PayPal invoice had been set up and she was
ready to kiss $1,100 good-bye.

I told her OH MY GOSH, NO, I had not sent any Second Chance offer out,
and immediately contacted all of the other bidders to let them know NOT
to "bite" if they were contacted by anyone offering this saddle for sale.

So just be aware -- if you list a high-dollar item on eBay, know that
someone might be out there phishing your "losing" bidders -- and if you
are bidding on a high-dollar item, don't respond to a Second Chance
offer without checking it out thoroughly.

Both the almost-victim of fraud, and I, contacted eBay several times to
report this. Neither of us has heard a word. It's a shame when we
citizens have to stick together and be vigilantes but that's the way it
is. I sent the lady links to online complaint agencies (FBI, Secret
Service, online fraud reporting agencies, etc., etc.) and will be happy
to share these links to anyone here who needs it.

I apologize if this is a little off-topic but I know that we wide-body
owners get awfully passionate about our saddles and are often looking
for specialty saddles.

Horse hugs,
Carolyn

Hello ALL,

Oregon Fjord Club has listed a beautiful framed photographic print of a

This print was donated to us by Marsha Jo Hannah and we are offering it to
the highest bidder on eBay in order to help raise money for our EXPO in

As many of you know it is up to the individuals and groups to come up with
the funds to promote our wonderful breed at all the expos. We need all the
help we can get in coming up with funds for this Expo. Cost each year go up
and it is getting hard to compete with the other breeds unless we raise
funds.

Please consider bidding on this item for yourself or for your SECRET SANTA
(I will ship directly to your SS if you want me to, Just tell me).

I appreciate if you can pass this information out and if you can / try to
bid on it. 100% of the money will go to the Oregon Fjord Club to help pay
for the EXPO.

We hope to have more items donated so that we can raise the money that we
need to do the EXPO correctly.

Interesting Ebay Item....& Turlock Award

2002-09-01 Thread Karen McCarthy
This message is from: "Karen McCarthy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Right now there is a beautiful cast bronze, 3"x3" fjordhorse plaque on
Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1854345026&rd=1

I have purcahsed one of these of the same size, (it is also available in
a smaller 2"x2" size), and I have had it professionally mounted on a
wooden trophy plaque, to be donated by Great Basin Fjords to the
Skandifest Nordic Horse Show, for a Fjord Sportsmanship Award. To be
awarded based on the judges choice, for the Fjordhorse/rider combination,
that in the judges opinion, has exhibited their horse(s), and interacted
with other exhibitors & their horses and show staff in the most
Sportsmanlike manner..The recipient will have their name/year added to
the plaque & be awarded a special ribbon .Just another reason to come
check out & be part of the FUN of Skandifest! (Sept. 27-29, Turlock,
Calif. Judge: Sarah Runyan )

Cheers!

This IS a great book, it is the one I bought directly from Norway! It is
translated into English as well. And no exchange problems paying for it!
Hey, Fjord Folks, I highly recommend it!

Jean in Fairbanks, Alaska, with showers and thunderstorms, and I got the
first rain at my place in three weeks! Maybe the forest fires will die
down now!

This is a really neat old vintage mens sweater from Norway - with what
only can be a fjordhorse smack dab in the middle.

Mike you could wear this at an Eval & we could see ya coming from a mile away!

Hmmm, unless we are planning one up at Jean's place in January I don't
think I would be wearing that at a summer Eval! You would need the EMT's
for me in no time!

;-)

Nice sweater though.

Re: Wide Wintec Dressage Saddle -Ebay

2001-12-21 Thread Karen McCarthy

This message is from: "Karen McCarthy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Saw this while browsing on Ebay:

Wintec 500 Dressage saddle,pad & bridle amNEW
Item # 1050454143

Seller is listing for 359.00 w/ no takers yet, and a day remaining.
It is nearly new synthetic saddle w/ 18" seat, wide gullet. It comes w/ pad,
Millers bridle, girth, leathers & irons...+ $25.00S&H
Not a bad deal considering Dover & Stateline chg. $359.00 for the saddle
alone.
Saddles too big for me, but I am sure it would suit someone out there in
FjordLand who wants a good, basic dressage saddle.

Carol just look under harness, or horse harness, or wagons etc. You can see
more of what is available that way. I buy horse bits and just search "bit"
Brings up about 2000 items but the I just check for items being bid on by at
least three people. Works for me. Jean

Hmmm,

Reminds me an awful lot of the opening picture on the nfhr.com web

Jean,

I thought the same exact thing. I hope Julie Wills was asked permission! I
know if it were me, I would be very upset if I was not asked, regardless of
the reasoning behind it or not. I do not know the legalities of artwork, but
I know from a writer's prospective, we always have to gain permission.

And again, no, this person is not connected with our farm! We do not even
know her.
