Re: [Flexradio] Testing
If you've ever operated within a few miles of someone on 160 running full power to a full size vertical, you'll understand what I mean Bill In 1976 I bought a shiny new TS-820S. I used to run mostly 75M in those days usually 3895 or 3898. I had a neighbor who was a ham also who ran 3930. He also ran a TS-820. He ran a pair of 3-500's like a L-4B or something and I was running some un-named ceramic tube with handles. His antenna and my antenna were separated by the width of my driveway plus maybe 15ft and at about the same height. We were both running dipoles broadside to each other since that was the only way we could get the antennas to fit our lots. I am very familiar with strong close by big signals. I redesigned the mixer and the RF amp first in my TS-820, and then in his, and we both could enjoy our time on the radio without any problem. The only thing I couldn't readily solve was the IF strip was poorly designed and had blowby of the filter when you got down around -70dB. I stand by my statement All you need is enough. Can you design a circumstance where the F5K fails? Of course. Can you design a circumstance where the K-3 fails? Of course. That is what the test is all about. Most guys are not going to build a K3LR type operation. Most guys are going to sit on their 130x100 lot and have a blast. vy 73 W9OY Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Re: [Flexradio] Testing
PS I quizzed w8ji about how he set up the SDR-1000 and I am in no way convinced he had a clue what he was doing. I'm sure he got something running but as to it being optimized for his circumstance he didn't do it 73 W9OY Never miss a thing. [Flexradio] Flex 5000 Beta test
Operating on 75 meters for about 4 hours, the receiver locked up once, I also noticed a high SWR warning when transmitting into a known 1 to 1 match, but just one time in 4 hours of operation, then the radio locked up again after further operation and would not receive and would not reset by hitting mox. It would still transmit but no receive. I went back to Firmware 1.1.10 and radio operated normally. I tried 1.1.11 again and the radio locked up after several transmissions. I tried using 1.1.11 again this morning with the receive locking up again. Using a P-4 3.2, L2,2 gig ram computer. Re: [Flexradio] Flex 5000 Beta test/ receive drop out
Also want to add that the receive drop does not occur on CW mode. With delay set anywhere from 50ms to 300ms, always goes back to receive. I have never encountered a failure while operating CW. The receive lock up only happens when using Digi or USB/LSB. The lock up is very random and maybe 5% of the turn overs. Hitting MOX will bring the receive back. This with the latest firmware and latest SVN. 73 John, N3WT -- Original message -- From: David Gardner [EMAIL PROTECTED] Operating on 75 meters for about 4 hours, the receiver locked up once, I also noticed a high SWR warning when transmitting into a known 1 to 1 match, but just one time in 4 hours of operation, then the radio locked up again after further operation and would not receive and would not reset by hitting mox. [Flexradio] One Care anomaly
My system was acting flaky this morning. windows xp sp2 3.2mHz machine Flex5K in my dual logging program system WinWarbler stalled, stopped decoding a PSK signal CPU use rocketed to 90% plus! Task Manager reported that MsMpEng.exe, a component or 'One Care' was running and dramatically hogging cpu. A Google on MsMpEng.exe indicated many comments of it's cpu use stopping programs. MsMpEng is a virus software detection program in OneCare. I had to turn it off manually. I do not know why it started running by itself, as it was scheduled to start Sunday @ 3am. I'm assuming that something in my ham radio programs startup, triggered a suspicion of a virus and activated the Virus program. Normally, One Care runs on all my home network programs in the background and this is the first instance of an anomaly. ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/
[Flexradio] (no subject)
Hi All, I recently lost RF power on my Flex5000A in digital and SSB (CW was OK) modes. With Dudley's help we traced the problem to an upgraded file (msadox.dll v 2.81.1117.0 was changed to v 2.81.1128.0 at the suggestion of a program, Secunia, used to flag old, insecure files). I had successfully used this update for several weeks before I installed updates for all occurrences of this file on my system(total of 8). Then the RF disappeared. I immediately replaced the file with the older version but the RF problem was not cured. I had to register the file with Windoz before PowerSDR would use the old file (via Run, then RegSVR32 (path)\msadox.dll; the file being the older version), just replacing the file did not work. Much of this was thanks to Dudley's analysis. The RF power then returned to normal. I thought this may be of some help to those of you having problems attributed to PowerSDR because PowerSDR is not always the culprit. Make sure to check MS Windoz for any detrimental changes as well. [Flexradio] boy am I dumb!
That's dumb with a capital B. yeah B, that's how dumB I am. We had a very very rare power failure. My UPS's gave me plenty of time to properly power down all my aps modules for dual logging program/Flex PWSDR systems. Butwhen power was restored a half hour later. I could not get Flex to work, kept getting a 'driver error' type message. So...duh and double duh, thinking that I goofed the order of shut down, I reinstalled the driver. Still no go. That's when I realizedmy Flex5K is not on the UPS and the little Blue Light was not shining. Don't think my UPS, even though it's one of the bigger ones, can handle the power supply for the Flex. Will have to remember that one for the futureand as my memory is fading fast Maybe you guys can add a hey stupid, this computer can't communicate with the Radio as its TURNED OFF! message. but, all is back online, still no DX to chase, but at least it's all powered back up. ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/

At least the solution was free. I had to make a computer service call to fix a dead HP scanner that ended up being turn off. [Flexradio] EasyPal, VAC and PowerSDR
Folks: I have been extremely frustrated trying to get EasyPal to work with the SDR and VAC. I use the SDR 1000, the most recent PowerSDR alpha version (or close to it), and an M-Audio soundcard (not the most recent driver). My SDR prints perfectly using MIXW in a variety of modes. I have a DRM decoder and listen to DRM frequently (using the SDR DRM mode). EasyPal is a modification of DRM, I believe. I see the waterfall in EasyPal and I see the patterns of voice. The three major tones of EasyPal show up right under the cursors showing where they should be. Nevertheless, I cannot get EasyPal to the point of MSC lock. The green thermostat climbs up to FAC, but not the final step. It actually moves up and down rather than being steady as it should, I believe. Currently, I am using a sampling rate of 11025, mono, 24 bits per sample, latency of 20. I have tried a number of things, but I could be combining parameters the all day. Does anyone have any suggestions?
