[Audyssey] fsnavigator

2007-09-24 Thread shaun everiss
Hi all.
Here is my progress with fsnav so far.
After doodling with the configs and such, I have done the following.
managed to install fsuipc.
managed to extract all pdf famuals.
I have an reg code for fsnavigator, and fsuipc, but where to put it
all is my question.
I have not as yet doodled with the fsnav docs, but all I get out of
fsnav is input line in jaws.
speech is slowed a load although jaws can read the menus of fs, and
as long as I make the stupid splashscreen die the system seems to be ok.
The list boxes for flight selection do not read neither do the entire
description field in jaws.
I use hal for some of it but I really can't use it as the menus are
not good with hal, even so jaws does have issues.
If someone could walk me through something, on skype or osomething
I'd really like it.
my skype is shaun_everiss, [EMAIL PROTECTED] is my mail.
and msn.
Can someone thats got fsnav working and reged record a tutorial on
everything, controls, registering, etc.
I've managed to get the pmsounds program to run with the fs nav thing.
However except for all the data installs I really have not started.

[Audyssey] progress with fsnav

2007-09-24 Thread shaun everiss
Hi.
Ok, in hal the mail screen of fsnav works, have not tried this with
jaws, keeps refreshing though.
Can't get access to any options, etc.
I managed to find a string where i could manually enter the reg info
in my program.cfg file which I did.
no idea if it worked at all though.

Re: [Audyssey] Error with Kitchensinc games under Vista.

2007-09-24 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Trouble,

Actually the old dos Meal Master program still performs print jobs for me.
That could be though because I'm still running my 1989, Panasonic KX-P1180, 9
pin, dot matrix printer. I've got to tell you I was plenty pleasantly
surprised when the Windows XP Printer Wizard listed and supported it. And when
I was just recently able to buy the ribbon cartridge for it at our local
Western Reserve Office Supply company. Hey it ain't broke right? grin

I am also still able to play old dos games etc with my 1989 Accent SA external
hardware speech synthesizer.

yeah, you can run dos commands on xp, but not programs that access
hardware. With vista, witch is what ever company and org is giving
the disabled. no its out.
So its pretty much up to you wither you want to tell people that
aren't tech's how to run them or not.
i like your games and don't have a problem playing them. However, I'm
also a tech!

If it ain't broke, I could probably fix it.

Hi Glenna,

Cool, I am very glad that you have gotten hours of fun out of my games. Thank
you for saying so. That is what they are for.

There are allot of games or kinds of games that I am very bad at playing. And
types of games that I just don't like to play. I don't for instance care for
war simulation games and I never played any of the old on line BBS door games.

Oh yeah, I will try to keep up the good work.

Thanks again and BFN

Hi Thomas,

Thank you very much for saying that you also appreciate my games.

I do listen to suggestions from people, however I found out a long time ago
that no matter what you do you can not please everyone. So at some point you
have to make a decision and just go for it. And then there is the keeping true
to your original concept of the game and how you want it.

Hi Jim,
I appreciate your games as well. NFL and Monopoly are two of my favorite

All I have ever asked of you was to listen, and be more flexable to end
user suggestions, input, and or advice. That is all.

Re: [Audyssey] Message to the list.

2007-09-24 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Thomas,

If you can name me one person or a group or company that has produced anywhere
near two dozen accessible games, well then I will believe that you were not
talking about me or my 25 free accessible games for windows.

Yes, I may have a bit of a persecution complex going on, but I think that it is
justified with how much you have been suggesting differences for my games
lately.

I am pretty sure that I heard a moderator say that we can post our different
views about games on the list as long as there is no flaming. So I do believe
that is what you and I have been doing. But it may be best for us to agree to
disagree and just drop it.

- Original Message -
Hi Jim,

Quote
If you are correct and soon no one will be able to play my games, well that
might be a good thing for you.
End quote

Try and see my comments with the intention they were given. They were
not meant as personal attacks, put downs, or flames. They were meant in
the spirit of sharing information, a look into what could be coming, and
suggestions how that could be avoided. Instead you have repeatedly time
and again accused me of saying exactly the reverse of my actual intent.
You have repeatedly treated my emails as though they were attacks, put
downs, and that is just flat out the wrong way to take them.
As a matter of fact had u been more willing to listen without getting so
upset I might have been able to help you solve the issue of multiple
users. Though, it is clear for the angry and upset way you have
responded you don't care if your games work in a multiuser environment
or not. That's your choice of course.

 Quote
BTW I am sorry that my 25 free games for windows are not of high enough
quality for some. I have been working on them for 25 years and have done the
best job on them that I can. Really sorry that that is not good enough for
 some.
End quote

Jim, not once in this thread did I mention your name, your games, or
anything to do with you. I did not say your games were good quality or
bad quality. I simply did not even make a reference to you directly or
indirectly. Yet, you are assuming there is some kind of personal attack
here.
Going back to that original post the only thing that might have made you
feel that way is I said:
A developer could write two dozen low to moderate quality games, or a
developer could write two or three high quality games.
That was not a reference to you. That was a simple point which stated
that a developer could choose to write lots of games of lower quality,
or a developer could choose to write a couple really extremely high
quality games. That is not saying that your games or bad, there is
something wrong with them, but only that I have chosen to use higher
standards in what I produce.
Basically, I don't know what your problem is. Everything I say and do on
list any more you attack treating it as some kind of personal slight,
attack, and put down. You are frankly getting to be a bit paranoid. I
have nothing personal against you or your games, and yet it sounds
though you believe that I do.
At the very least let's just agree to disagree about things, and let it
go. Otherwise one of us is going to have to leave this list. This
arguing and disagreement has to stop here and now.

Re: [Audyssey] New RPG and Sound RTS and its potential

2007-09-24 Thread Dark
Hello che.

while I take the point about single player games, what you say does slightly
concern me as regards the Pvp aspect.

cooperative quests, and interactions with other players deffinately appeals
to me, but Pvp isn't quite as much my thing, and I'd be slightly
disappointed if this aspect of the game took things over slightly (as it has
in some other games I've heard of).

will there be some kind of limit on player killing, such as only having
specific areas for it? or choosing account types? (pvp or not).

According to my brother, in world of warcraft, you can choose to either play
on a Pvp enabled or disabled server, - even on the disabled server,
there are battle ground areas specifically for fighting other players if you
want. apparently though, Pvp servers can be a pain, sinse you can basically
be ambushed and attacked by total strangers at almost any point when your
not somewhere safe, my brother says this can be a particular pest when out
of quests.

Of course, other sorts of competitions such as raking, or contests not
involving player killing are apparently encouraged on both servers.

I imagine I'll be more in the minority in wanting slightly less of the Pvp
game aspects, stil, while your at the planning stage I thought I'd put in a
word.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

There simply will not be a single player mode of this game, it would take
a lot of extra programming to do and most of the people playing it
 wouldn't
be playing for the single player experience anyway.
I think we have plenty of single player games out there, and the success
of Rail Racer online racing has shown me there is definately a place for
online competition in the blind gaming community.
Additionally, making it online only releves me of the headache of
 building
in anti piracy code, as the program itself will be completely free to
 download.

As you say, I don't think we can predict what's in the beta. I remember

Judging by that, I'm quite sure of Che's ability to make a litle go a long

interesting (something else we can occupy our time with in the Beta).

Dark: the problem with PvP being optional, at least in the extreme alpha
parts of the game there might not be all that much quests to undertake, so
that's what we might have to do during the beta, asooming you're gonna

Hi Yvonne,
Yeah, that is the down side of paid subscriptions, and one reason I have
as yet not paid for a subscription to play Sryth. I am on so
infrequently that paying for the game would actually be a waist of money
rather than worth it. Yet, I do like the game and perhaps once my work
load lightens up here I'll take a greater interest insome of these
online games like Sryth, and of course Che's RPG game.

would like a single player rpg so that I can pick up the game where I left
off and not feel as though I am wasting money everytime I choose not to play
my game. I am currently subscribed to Sryth. I enjoy th game very much but
it just seems like other things have taken my attention the last few months
and I haven't played much at all.

Hi,
Yeah, online play isn't for everyone. I can't say I am a big online

online and play a game for hours at a time.
Most of the time if I am on a computer I am on my personal laptop which
I take everywhere, and usually is not online. Only the main desktop
computer which is a family computer is online full time.

I realize this is a new model of game play for most, but it is really the

I think you will find, if you are a fan of the online RPG genre at least,
that you will be getting more bang for your buck each month than just about
 any other game out there.
There are tons of features I have not mentioned, because I am hesitant to
discuss possibilities until they are definate additions to the game, but
what I have mentioned here so far in previous posts will be included.
At any rate, we've got a long way to go on this project, and lots of
concepts and decisions to be hammered out.
The next step will be a set of online polls I will be putting up on Blind
Adrenaline soon to get some feedback about the general direction of the
game, so stay tuned to the list for more updates.
  Later all,

Hi jim,
Yes. I understand. And your games are great. Especially monopoly, trucker,
football, and baseball 4! They are great!

An idea;
You should make a Kitchen's Classics series, with all the classic games in
one. (classics for kitchensinc are monopoly, golf, life, baseball, football,
and on and on! lol.

 Hi Tristan,

Yes, thank you. It does get a bit irritating when people like James
North, Thomas Ward etc try to tell me how I should be writing my games,
running Kitchen's Inc and the rest of what make up my hobby. I am sure
that I don't do things up to their standards, but I do very much still
enjoy writing and sharing my free games. And of course all of the great
feedback that I have gotten from the fine folks over the years just so
much makes my hobby all that much finer.

 Hi,
Tom you have a good point, and Charles I agree and disagree on what you
posted. I wouldn't like my games being singled out, because of debates
 over
newer technology I should upgrade to. Since Jim makes his games as a
hobbiest, and for yourself to play for personal use. People debating over
things like that, asking to replace the sounds you found or made, and
actually telling you to upgrade the game, with features that let you
 replace
the sounds, now that would be maddening.
I have an idea, Thomas. Why don't you make a USA Games Developer list.
 A
programming list for USA Games. That would be a good idea, and take your
programming ideas, development projects, and all of that off list and to
 the
USA Programmers list... If you make the new list. Just a suggestion.

Hi,
When you talk about using Accent SA to play dos games I'd be interrested
if you are doing that using Jaws for Windows or Jaws for Dos under XP.
JFW supports the XP command/Dos Window, and that is the only way I have
to access the command line for dos apps any more.
Though I am interested to know how JFD works in the command prompt.

I'd also like to try my hand at drome, I love rpg games, but mainly
the offline ones.
I was going to buy winfight but I never quite got around to it.
Does anyone know whereabouts I can find these 2 games?

Hello all. I'm hoping that someone on this list can help me out with this
as I'm really up a creek without a paddle. I'm trying to get more
information on fs2002 and making it more accessible. I know there is tons
of more information out there for me to take a look at and probably more
support options as well. There's just one problem, the text is all in
Portuguese. Is there any web page translation software out there or is
there something I can do in windows that will do a rough conversion of the
page to English? Its so frustrating to have the information at your
fingertips and not be able to use it. If anyone can help, I'd be most
 grateful. Thanks much,

Re: [Audyssey] Games under Vista

2007-09-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,
I do understand your point of view, and where you are coming from. /As a
developer myself I have learned as you have there is only so much you or
I can do to please the end users that playour games.
I also understand as game developers we tend to address issues that
effects us personally. For example, the issue with User Account
Control. I understand your hesitation in making changes to your games,
because at this point in time it does not effect you personally. For me
though, I have to deal with it every day. As a result I hit the MSDN
knolege base, found out what changes needed to be made, and had the
issue fixed in Monty in about two hours. Weather anyone else ever
encounters the same situation is mute. I am happy that the game works
the way I want it to work.

Jim Kitchen wrote:
 Hi Thomas,

Thank you very much for saying that you also appreciate my games.

I do listen to suggestions from people, however I found out a long time ago
that no matter what you do you can not please everyone. So at some point you
have to make a decision and just go for it. And then there is the keeping
true to your original concept of the game and how you want it.

Re: [Audyssey] Message to the list.

2007-09-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,
As it happens I can think of a couple accessible game companies that
have produced as many or more games than you have.
The first is 7128.com. John has just showed up on list and they have 12
inspector Cindi games, 12 Puzzle Games, and 12 word games. I have not
had the pleasure to test any of these games yet, but they have allot of
games to check out.
The second is Spoon Bill games. I don't have a current exact listing of
all there games, but it is in the 20 game range. They have everything
from classic Frogger to card Games like Uno.
Basically, you are just going to have to take my word that all I was
trying to say is that quantity does not always mean quality. That was
not directed to you, Spoon Bill, or 7128 Games. If I had said 50 games
rather than two dozen games the point would have been the same.
Just because a dev can make lots of games it doesn't mean they will have
the same quality as a developer that builds a massive FPS game with lots
of levels and puzzles like Sarah. Then again quality here is a totally
personal interpretation.
For example, i happen to like major FPS games like Sarah, and really
love Tank Commander. To me they are of high quality. Board games, card
games are ok, but I don't view them the same. way as FPS and high action
games. I hope this explains things better.

Re: [Audyssey] New RPG and Sound RTS and its potential

2007-09-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Dark,
I think there is allot of room for PVP challenges that doesn't mean
player killing. For example, say your character enters a pub and plays a
card game with another player. You might win gold, a weapon, etc but not
outright kill that player.
Another fun PVP might be a tournament of champions where two players
must engage in hand to hand combat. They will knock out rather than kill
the other player. If you win the challenge you might win gold, hp,
stamina, melee, etc.
So there is room for PVP without slaying the persons involved. The
RPG developer just needs to get creative how it is done.

[Audyssey] Online RPG ideas Re: pvp

2007-09-24 Thread Che
Hi Dark,
This will be dealt with in a way that allows those that want to fight one
on one to do so, while giving the rest immunity. There are many ways to do
this, but the one I am leaning on right now is a fight pit, where players
can enter and fight each other, with all other areas beeing non pk.
What I would really like is the ability for players to organize their own
tournaments, with entry fees paid and divvied out amongst the winners. This
could get a bit sticky however, due to different character levels fighting
each other and the like.
The outline is being tweaked and enhanced as I work on other stuff, and
this is one area that needs some more sculpting before coding gets underway.
  Later,
  Che

[Audyssey] Changes to the Sarah game

2007-09-24 Thread Phil Vlasak
Hi Folks,
This is a short note to keep you up to date on the changes to the FPS Sarah
game.
Yes I change the description from Arcade to FPS in the instructions!
I thought it would take a month to make changes due to the seventh Harry
Potter book but real life and reading the book three times delayed my work
on the game.
I will listthe major changes below:
1. Sound effects now describe the common objects in the game such as the
hats, candy and brooms rather than words.
2. I changed the Hufflepuff common room door and common room to match what
the Author described in one of her interviews.
3. I also change the Ravenclaw common room based on what was in the seventh
book.
4. Added the boys dormitory to the Gryffindore common room.
5. Added two new spells to your spell list.
A Disillusionment Charm that hides you
like a chameleon.
And a spell that Reveals human
presence on a floor.
This will allow you to tell exactly how far Filch is away from you.
6. Added two new fortune telling features to the Divination classroom.
A crystal ball which works a lot like the magic eight ball toy, and a tea
leaf reading system.
7. An extensive walk through document to help you solve the puzzles in the
game.
8. Of course, I have fixed most if not all of the bugs and there are many
minor changes and surprises throughout the game.

I will be sending Sarah the script soon so she can record these changes and
as soon as she gets the recording back to me I will add them to the game and
then make a patch with the changes so you will not have to download the
entire game again.
Stay tuned,
Phil

Re: [Audyssey] New RPG and Sound RTS and its potential

2007-09-24 Thread Raul a. Gallegos
Here we go again. If it's not people trying to tell Jim he should make
it so his games can have their audio files changed, it's these same
people trying to dictate how an online game should be made to not be an
online game. I guess if the thread started by saying: I'm thinking of
making game XXX, what are everyone's opinions on how to make this game?
Should it be online or local? Should it be both? Should we charge a
monthly subscription or not? Then I could see all these messages. Come
on folks, really!

Josh said the following on 9/23/2007 2:55 PM:
ok what you could do is charge a fee or $30 or $20 for the single-player
game, and then if we want the online game we pay you for it, you send us a
key and those features of the game are unlocked when we enter the key or
 something like that.

I can understand that certainly, but it is not cheap hosting a dedicated
server every month, and the bills have to be paid somehow.
I think there will be enough players of an online RPG to sustain the
server cost month to month, but it can only be proven if it is tried, so
 we
 shall see.

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2 was USA Games News

2007-09-24 Thread Dark
well the Tng focus certainly sutes me.

Though my parents have sky, we don't funfortunately get Spike. Sky 1 (where
I first saw most Trek series), occasionally reruns Tng and voyager (though
usually at inconsistant times), but I haven't known them do a consistant Ds9
runthrough. when I first saw Ds9, it was part way through the run, and
though I enjoyed quite a few episodes, I never got the overall plot, which
is why I'd like to buy it some point (sinse it does tie into tng rather
nicely, and Tng is deffinately my favourite series).

I'll look out for the sutherland and other ships in tng, though at the
moment I'm only on the first series, so it might take me a while to get to
them smile!

 Hi Dark,
Over here in the good old USA we have a cable TV station called Spike.
They play Star Trek all afternoon long Monday-Friday. It includes TNG,
Voyager, and I think they still have DS9 on sometimes.
Anyway, I've had a renewed interest in TNG, and I think STFC 2 will be
more a TNG style game than a DS9 style one.
All of the ships in STFC 2 are based on TNG shows. The Enterprise,
Monitor, Sutherland, Phoenix, etc were all seen on TNG.
For example, my idea for including the Phoenix came from the show, the
Wounded. As it turns out the Phoenix is a Nebula class starship, but
matches the Enterprise in weapons and strength. Great ship to have on
your side when blasting away Romulans, Klingons, Cardassians, and Borg.
The Sutherland has made guest appearances both on TNG and DS9. It was
first mentioned in Redemption II as having not been pressed into
service. the crew of the Enterprise, Data in particular, took over the
unfinished Sutherland to stop Commander Sela's attack. It later showed
up on DS9 during the Dominion War.

Subject: [Audyssey] Changes to the Sarah game

 Hi Folks,
This is a short note to keep you up to date on the changes to the FPS
 Sarah
 3. I also change the Ravenclaw common room based on what was in the
 seventh
 book.

I will be sending Sarah the script soon so she can record these changes
 and
as soon as she gets the recording back to me I will add them to the game
 and
then make a patch with the changes so you will not have to download the
 entire game again.
 Stay tuned,
 Phil

[Audyssey] Moderator's question regarding sega cd!

2007-09-24 Thread Raul a. Gallegos
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Sega games, PS2 games, and the like
all commercial, meaning you have to purchase them? If this is the case,
then discussing where to download illegal copies to burn yourself is not
appropriate for this list. I may need to start pressing those check
boxes on member's accounts to place them on moderated status.

Josh said the following on 9/22/2007 7:34 PM:
 Hello,

Ok you guys I think I found the answer. the best roms on the rom-world.com
site is the sega cd roms. most of those games are at least 300mb or 400mb in
size. there's some games I really want. But can anyone tell me if any of the
sega cd rom emulators are accessible? maybe I'll try some out and let you
guys know this is awesome, and they got some of my favorite games on there!
games of a tv show called power rangers that I loved when i was a kid and
downloaded classic episodes in torrents and made them into mp3s. yes, and
now, if all goes well, I can play the game? oh my this is so cool! I hope an
emulator is accessible with jaws to get to the point of opening the game.
but first, I'm off to go to wikipedia and read up on the history of the sega
cd console. I think power rangers games should be pretty easy to play
because the power rangers genre is a first person fighter genre where you
just fight monsters and stuff like that and then you get big robots called
zords to fight the monsters when the master bad-guy makes them grow really
 huge.
ok I'm off to wikipedia to read about sega cd.

 Hi Jim,
As it happens I can think of a couple accessible game companies that
have produced as many or more games than you have.

 Hi,
When you talk about using Accent SA to play dos games I'd be interrested
if you are doing that using Jaws for Windows or Jaws for Dos under XP.
JFW supports the XP command/Dos Window, and that is the only way I have
to access the command line for dos apps any more.
Though I am interested to know how JFD works in the command prompt.

I am also still able to play old dos games etc with my 1989 Accent SA

Re: [Audyssey] New RPG and Sound RTS and its potential

2007-09-24 Thread Dark
appologies Tom, you are of course right. I was using Pvp in the sense it's
meant in the vast majority of online games, - indiscriminating player
slaughter, often with theft, usually with rankings. This is one of my main
issues with the majority of text rpg's, that they devolve into repetitive
stat grinding just so that your character isn't getting constantly murdered!

I should've thought about my language though. Obviously players challenging
each other in the way you suggest would be an incredibly good thing (and
something I might well engage in myself).

 Hi Dark,
I think there is allot of room for PVP challenges that doesn't mean
player killing.

2007-09-24 Thread Dark
that would deffinately make sense, and not cause the troubles in the game I
was anticipating, and be rather good fun at the same time.

A class system for the various fighting areas, as in Rr would seem to
get around the question very well, either by directly barring lower level
players from high level challenge areas, Eg the doors to the advanced
lounge are locked until the new player either directly reaches minimum level
for the advanced challenges, or is given a task to retrieve the key to the
advanced challenge lounge (a task which requires him/her to be at
appropriate level).

All the best,

Dark.

 Hi Dark,
This will be dealt with in a way that allows those that want to fight one
on one to do so, while giving the rest immunity. There are many ways to
 do
this, but the one I am leaning on right now is a fight pit, where players
can enter and fight each other, with all other areas beeing non pk.
What I would really like is the ability for players to organize their own
tournaments, with entry fees paid and divvied out amongst the winners.
 This
could get a bit sticky however, due to different character levels fighting
 each other and the like.
The outline is being tweaked and enhanced as I work on other stuff, and
this is one area that needs some more sculpting before coding gets
 underway.
  Later,

hi,
Meepmeep makes you run fast.

I would try enabling the cheat code, pla a game, and press space bar
while pressing right arrow causing you to run. If it works, you run
much faster than normal.

In JudgmentDay, you must have 10 trophys and a text file will be
generated with with the cheat codes in it. this file should be in:
c:\program files\lowkrs\judgment day
but remember you must have earned at least 10 trophys to see this
file, so ensure you have the full version and 10 trophs are unlocked.

To do this, start judgmentday. at the main menu press t. if it says,
10 or something higher, the file should be in that directory.
Without 10 trophys, the cheats won't even work, so if I were to post
it, the cheats wouldn't work anyway for you, because you have to have
unlocked 10 trophys.

 Hi.

I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by the meepmeep. If you mean the
beeping sound before an enemy attacks, well there could be
several
reasons why things are going wrong, anything from game slowdown to the

 fact
that some obstacles in the game need to be jumped over rather than
shot.

there used to be a rather good superliam walkthrough by Raul Gallegos,
but
unfortunately I think it's down now and am not sure where to get it.

 Hi Dark,
Over here in the good old USA we have a cable TV station called Spike.

Hello Bryan.

This e-mail has had a surprising effect! you've finally got me to get up and
star playing sryth once again! there's so many new features, it's almost
like a brand new game, but at the moment, sinse I haven't been playing for a
long time, Ekitrina is slightly overwhelmed, and in need of more Ag tocans
and Xp, I also need to renew my subscription, which is a pain, sinse at the
moment my creddit card appears to have stopped working, I'll have to go to
the bank tomorrow and see what I can do. then I'll probably be donating to
Sryth, in order for Ekitrina to at least stand her own again, even if she's
not going to be quite up at the end of the rankings she occupied previously
(as I said, it's the questing i enjoy anyway).

Oh, and as to the forum, my account seems to have auto deleted itself, and I
had to ask Havoc of the Sryth forum to create a new one for me (which he has
now done).

Beware the Greu!

Re: [Audyssey] football score

2007-09-24 Thread jason
Hello Thomas I probably would have picked the same plays as well run it from
the 5 yard line not a pass and I would have done a blitz on that play as
well to intercept the ball or sack him for a good loss.
Anyway I will report here how the eagles do in week 6 so far they are 5 and
0 and they beat the red skins in week 5 37 to3.
Anyway that's all for now.

 Hi Jason,
Now, that would rule. An online football game would rock between two
players like us. I really enjoy a game when it is challenging. Sometimes
the AI games don't have enough inteligence to really do the right plays
 or learn from mistakes.
For example, in a couple of games back the other team's quarterback
tried to do a pass at the 5 yard line. I never would have called a play
like that, and I thought then as I do now that was a stupid play. Well,
for that team it was faital. The ball was intercepted with in 10 yards
of the end zone, and I drove the ball home for a winning touch down.
In a game I played in a previous season the quarterback was around the
same place when he tried a pass and I sacked his rear back into the end
zone for a safety. Hardy har har har.

Hi Hunter,
The correct installation method is this.
If it is not installed first install .Net Framework.
Then, upgrade DirectX 9.0C.
Finally, install the game or games.
If the install is not done in exactly this order you will get runtime
errors.
Cheers.

Subject: [Audyssey] Changes to the Sarah game

 Hi Folks,
This is a short note to keep you up to date on the changes to the FPS
 Sarah
 3. I also change the Ravenclaw common room based on what was in the
 seventh
 book.

I will be sending Sarah the script soon so she can record these changes
 and
as soon as she gets the recording back to me I will add them to the game
 and
then make a patch with the changes so you will not have to download the
 entire game again.
 Stay tuned,
 Phil

 Hello che.

while I take the point about single player games, what you say does
 slightly
concern me as regards the Pvp aspect.

cooperative quests, and interactions with other players deffinately
 appeals
to me, but Pvp isn't quite as much my thing, and I'd be slightly
disappointed if this aspect of the game took things over slightly (as it
 has
in some other games I've heard of).

will there be some kind of limit on player killing, such as only having
specific areas for it? or choosing account types? (pvp or not).

According to my brother, in world of warcraft, you can choose to either
 play
on a Pvp enabled or disabled server, - even on the disabled server,
there are battle ground areas specifically for fighting other players if
 you
want. apparently though, Pvp servers can be a pain, sinse you can
 basically
be ambushed and attacked by total strangers at almost any point when your
not somewhere safe, my brother says this can be a particular pest when out
 of quests.

Of course, other sorts of competitions such as raking, or contests not
involving player killing are apparently encouraged on both servers.

I imagine I'll be more in the minority in wanting slightly less of the Pvp
game aspects, stil, while your at the planning stage I thought I'd put in
 a
 word.

 Beware the Grue!

 Dark.

There simply will not be a single player mode of this game, it would
 take
a lot of extra programming to do and most of the people playing it
 wouldn't
be playing for the single player experience anyway.
I think we have plenty of single player games out there, and the success
of Rail Racer online racing has shown me there is definately a place for
online competition in the blind gaming community.
Additionally, making it online only releves me of the headache of
 building
in anti piracy code, as the program itself will be completely free to
 download.
  Later,
  Che

Re: [Audyssey] football score

2007-09-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jason,
Well, ifyou are really pushed back to your own 5 yard line sometimes you
need to begin thinking defense not offence.
If I am back that far sometimes I figure it is best to get the ball as
far away from the end zone as possible. I'll puntt the ball in hopes of
pushing the team back. Yeah, they will have control of the ball, but at
worst they might score a field goal, but there is less than a touch down
if you fumble or were intercepted.
I am still playing week 8, and so far the score is 3 to 0 in the third
quarter, and 7 minuts are on the clock. So this is going to be a tight
game. Fortunately the Cowboys are in the lead, but just barely.

[Audyssey] Raceway tracks.

2007-09-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi list,
Sometime next week I plan to take up work on Raceway again, and before I
do I'd like to have some good discussion on the kinds of tracks the game
will support.
Obviously, it wouldn't be Nascar-like without 2 mile, half mile, and 1
mile oval tracks. However, I'm thinking the game could be more
interesting if there were some unusual shaped tracks like s shapes,
figure 8 tracks, and so on. What do you racers think?
Also Nascar tracks tend to always move counter clockwise. Yet some games
like Poll Position had clockwise movement as well. Any preference here?
Thanks.

Subject: [Audyssey] I'm vary vary frustrated

If anyone can help, I'd be most
  grateful. Thanks much,
  Scott

[Audyssey] Message to the list

2007-09-24 Thread John Bannick
Jim and Thomas,

Sorry to butt in on what sounds like a personal misunderstanding.

But our Marketing research indicates that Jim has indeed shipped more
accessible games than either us or Spoonbill.

Thomas is correct that our Game Book will contain 12 Inspector Cyndi, 12
Puzzle, and 12 Word games.

However, we've actually shipped only 6 of the Inspector Cyndi mysteries,
all blind accessible.
Only 2 of the 9 puzzle games shipped so far are blind accessible.
And only 1 of the 3 word games shipped so far are blind accessible.
Even if you throw in the 5 blind accessible free Popcorn word games, that's
only 14 accessible games.

Spoonbill is similar.
Ian has shipped a bunch of fine looking games, but our count is that only
13 of them are on his blind accessible page.

With guidance from you, Thomas, as well as some other knowledgeable people,
our Marketing folks have just about finished surveying what seems to be all
the sources of blind accessible games. And Jim seems to be the top dog
among us, in numbers of games shipped. Woof!

BTW. As a programmer with no known social skills, I just die over any
critiques, even primarily technical ones like I'm getting from a fellow in
Finland. At the same time, as a user interface specialist, I can't do my
job without their critique. Scotch and soda help.

Apologies for butting in.

Hi Ian,
I will update the full Sarah install only after the patch has been out a

This way if I missed anything it is a lot easier to update the patch than
re-do the entire game.
It takes a lot longer to up load a file than download one.
I will let the list know when the patch is ready and then when the updated
full download is ready.

Subject: [Audyssey] Changes to the Sarah game

 Hi Folks,
This is a short note to keep you up to date on the changes to the FPS
 Sarah
 game.
Yes I change the description from Arcade to FPS in the instructions!
I thought it would take a month to make changes due to the seventh Harry
Potter book but real life and reading the book three times delayed my
 work
 on the game.
I will listthe major changes below:
 1. Sound effects now describe the common objects in the game such as the
hats, candy and brooms rather than words.
 2. I changed the Hufflepuff common room door and common room to match
 what
the Author described in one of her interviews.
 3. I also change the Ravenclaw common room based on what was in the
 seventh
 book.
 7. An extensive walk through document to help you solve the puzzles in
 the
 game.
 8. Of course, I have fixed most if not all of the bugs and there are many
minor changes and surprises throughout the game.

I will be sending Sarah the script soon so she can record these changes
 and
as soon as she gets the recording back to me I will add them to the game
 and
then make a patch with the changes so you will not have to download the
 entire game again.
 Stay tuned,
 Phil

Raul,
I am not telling the dev how to make his game. I wouldn't presume to do
that since I know next to nothing about programming. I am however adding in
my two cents worth on what I would like to see in a game. I thought that is
what this list is for. The developer can take it or leave it. It is

Josh said the following on 9/23/2007 2:55 PM:
ok what you could do is charge a fee or $30 or $20 for the single-player
game, and then if we want the online game we pay you for it, you send us
 a

 something like that.

I can understand that certainly, but it is not cheap hosting a
 dedicated
server every month, and the bills have to be paid somehow.
I think there will be enough players of an online RPG to sustain the
server cost month to month, but it can only be proven if it is tried, so
 we
 shall see.

Re: [Audyssey] Raceway tracks.

2007-09-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Brandon,
I'm trying to shoot for a more triditional paved track surface and
making the tracks level. The reason for this is Raceway is going to be
complex enough as it is. Adding different track variables like variable
elivation etc is way more complexity than I hope to design in 1.0.
Though, I'll keep it in mind for a possible update someday.

Re: [Audyssey] Raceway tracks.

2007-09-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
For 1.0 I am not sure I am ready to include different terrains. It is
possible, but there is a whole lot of extra work that goes in to
designing the engine and even the cars just to run on a variable
terrain. As you might realise different terrains require slightly
different physics calculations.
A dirt or gravel track would supply some friction or force acting
against the car. Also the car would require a tredded tire which also
slows the car down. Where as a flat paved surface and a bald tire allows
a car to move much faster and smoother. That's why Nascar stock cars
always have a bald tire. A bald tire cuts down on friction allowing the
car to reach speeds up to 215 MPH on the track.
It is not imposible to have a variable surface and different equasions
to handle this, but I am more interested in just getting the engine
working before I begin adding more complex variables into the mix.
Though if a variable surface is really in demand I will certainly look
into what I need to make it happen.

Re: [Audyssey] Message to the list

2007-09-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi John,
No, that is quite alright. I was going by what was on your page, and had
assumed the listings were all shipping. I wasn't aware not all 12
Inspector Cindi mysteries had been released yet, etc... Though, I think
they sound interesting.
If possible I'd like to have a copy of your marketing research. It
sounds interesting, and may prove useful for my own marketing in the future.
Anyway, I think Jim and I have agreed to disagree, and things are back
to somewhat normal.
Thanks.

John Bannick wrote:

Hi,
I agree that different tracks would make the game not only more
interesting, but challenging as well. A basic oval track is fun as far
as it goes, but gets to be pretty much the same after a while.
As for force feedback that is definitely on the project list to do. I
want to support force feedback racing wheels and peddles.

2007-09-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
As for a track editor I am still undecided about that point. I know it
would be a big selling point, but making one user friendly could prove
very challenging for me. I'm good in certain areas of programming, but
writing a track editor is something I have to read up on and experiment
with.
With the game so far behind production schedule already I'd say it would
have to be something added in at a later date. I'm not ruling out the
possability, but just uncertain weather I can put it into 1.0 or not.

Josh said the following on 9/23/2007 2:55 PM:
ok what you could do is charge a fee or $30 or $20 for the single-player
game, and then if we want the online game we pay you for it, you send us

 something like that.

I think there will be enough players of an online RPG to sustain the

Hi Shaun,
At this point the best answer I can give for a time table is it is ready
when it is ready. I have no official time table when testing is going to
begin, when a demo is released, etc...
One thing I can tell you is that starting with Raceway to make testing
fair for everyone I want to go to a paid testing setup. Microsoft does
this, Che does this, and that tends to be more productive than just
giving the games away for free.
Also during the testing cycle money will be coming in to fund the

Hi,
For 1.0 I am not sure I am ready to include different terrains. It is
possible, but there is a whole lot of extra work that goes in to
designing the engine and even the cars just to run on a variable
terrain. As you might realise different terrains require slightly
different physics calculations.
A dirt or gravel track would supply some friction or force acting
against the car. Also the car would require a tredded tire which also
slows the car down. Where as a flat paved surface and a bald tire allows

Meaning. After you have created the data base, started fs 2002 I am not sure
if you have to load pm sounds first then fs 2002 or if pm sounds will run
once fs 2002 run. I have to get a keyboard to see if it will work. I will
