[Audyssey] Where ar! the pb games?

2008-12-13 Thread dark
Hi.

For the purposes of updating the audio database, and finally! letting this
question rest in piece at last, for ever more, who is! hosting the pb games?
and where! are they?

I thought tom was, but unfortunately his site isn't accessible at the moment so
I can't check (pluss, though I remember him sending me the link to the Tarzan
Jr update file, I couldn't find it, or any other of the pb games on his site).

I've also checked X siteinteractive, but they don't seem to be there either.

If whoever is, and will be hosting them (again, I believed Tom was), will
please send me links to the page with the files, I can update the
audiogames.net database entries and this question need never be asked again!

Beware the Grue!

2008-12-13 Thread Pranav Lal
Hi Zach,

I did see reference to Microsoft's flight simulater 2000. The problem is, I
do not think it is available any more. There is something called FS
commander that gives one the output of the flight simulator in accessible
format or something like that.

Hi,
I know there has been some fairly extensive discussion on the topic of
access to Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2002. That has a lot of detail--more

than you probably want. It is not combat-oriented, nor is it perfectly
accessible. Nevertheless I've played it off and on and I'm sure some folks
on this list with more experience than I will be able to give you some
information on getting started with it. For that matter, I'd like to try it

again myself.
Hope this helps,
Zack.

Re: [Audyssey] Compatibility mode complete in smugglers 4

2008-12-13 Thread dark
That's actually quite sad Che, sinse with hal myself and others have found
the game incredibly fun, and quick and easy to play.

At the moment the only thing which is mildly long winded is traiding, and
I'm in discussion with Niels to get that sorted out.

I don't know a lot about Jaws scripting, but judging by the game is
compatible with Hal, I wouldn't have thought it would've been too difficult
to get it working with Jaws, sinse as I understand it the main issue was
with columnization and layout of the spoken options.

In Hal, the columns of options are read sequensially, and text is read line
by line excluding the informational columns.

I assume this is because Hal's virtual focus correctly interprets the
information as tables.

I would've thought, that getting jaws to interpret the information this wway
would simply be a matter of sticking in correct tabularization marks? though
i could well be wrong sinse I don't know too much about scripting.

all the best,

Dark.

Hi Lindsay,
I'm afraid I'm not really qualified to answer your question. I haven't
played with FS2002 in months, though I want to get back into it. I never
was very good with manual takeoff procedures anyway.

Sorry I'm not of more help.
Best,

Attention Gamers,
This is just a quick message informing everyone that the USA Games web
site, mailing addresses, and USA Games mailing lists will be moving over

 Hi Dark,
I gave up on my scripting for the game, even with scripts, I saw it was
going to be too cumbersome for the casual gamer unless major accomodations
were made for the blind.
I may see where the game is when I get done with my own current projects,
and pick it up from there.

Hi.

Jus thought anyone playing S4 would appreaciate knowing that the program
is now up to 1.1. Included in the various updates is the textifying of the
fleet combat and all screens in the game, which is great.

I'd stil personally like to see the ability to minimize the traide window
so that you can view the prices for the selected commodity on each planet,
but this does mean that essentially the game is entirely now playable
(though trading is a trifle slow for the moment).

Also new in the upgrade is apparently a new battleship class, battlegroup,
comprising a battleship and several escorts, which sounds cool, though
annoyingly my battleship game is saved on my laptop, and sinse the
wireless bit of my dsl internet box isn't currently working, I can't
download onto it at the second.

if you download a fresh copy of the game, it'll be v1.1. But if people
need to upgrade, you can get the upgrade on
http://nbsd.fileburst.com/Smugglers4Patch.zip

Out of interest, how're the scripting efforts for Jaws going with S4?

i know a couple of people such as Che martin were looking into writing
script files to fix the compatibility issues, and imho this would be a
really good thing as there is so much more to the game even than S3. If
script files are written, please let me know. I'll be creating a game page
for S4 for audiogames.net very soon (I was just waiting until the
compatibility mode was finished), and if files are created, obviously I'd
want to put a link to them there.

Hi Bryan,
I would venture a guess that they have the same lexical problems seeing
as Neospeech probably are using the same lexicon dictionary for Kate and
Paul. Never-the-less the may have an updated version of the voices by
now, and neither of us own them. I doubt that the version I own and the
current one are the same.

Hi Pranav, from Ron and Boz. I too enjoy Jim's puppy one and wish that there
were more accessable fly sims. But the only other project that I know of at
this time is at
www.bpcprograms.com
Check out the demo of TDV which is short for Three D Velocity. It is a cross
between iron eagles and top guy. It is full of short cut keystrokes. I've
only mastered the racing part and the demo gives you ten minutes of flight
time.
Hope this helps you out.

Hi Ron,
I definitely agree with you about Puppy1, Blast Chamber, Troopanum and
Hunter, as I have all of those here. I haven't tried 3D Velocity, but from
the sounds of it, it might be similar to the Top Gun table in ESP Pinball
Xtreme.

Hi to my fellow gamers, from Ron Kolesar and Leader Dog Boz.
Especially for those new subscribers. Check out Jim Kitchen's puppy one
airial airplane dog fighting game. From a blind person's point of view
this
is a must if you're a true flying nut like myself. Jim's web page address
is

www.kitchensinc.net
Then go down to the sapi five games and smack your enter key. Then down
load

until you find the puppy one game or the casino game which is wincas2.zip.
Now for my next recommendation which is a demo. Go to
www.bpcprograms.com
Go to their demo and down load the demo to the TDV or Three D Velocity
flying game. The best way to describe this game is a cross between the
movie
iron eagles and the movie top gun. I so far have figured out the racing
part

of the game. But I welcome all advice and assistance on figuring out the
fighting part of the game.
Also for a Christmas present. Check out BSC Games at
www.bscgames.com
My three picks from this company is
Blast Chamber, then its a toss up between hunter than troopanum or
troopanum

than hunter.
So that is my gaming recommendations for today and for that christmas
present. If you have a sighted friend or relative that don't know what to
get you for Christmas? If you're into games and who isn't? GRIN.
Then throw some hints and twist some arms. The games have demos so that
you

can try before you buy.
So Merry Merry Christmas from fellow gamers Ron and that four paw hand to
ear game cheater Leader Dog Boz who said that having four paws constantly
beats only having two hand all of the time when it comes to playing these
games.
Merry Christmas.
Matt & Ron Kolesar & there great Dogs!

Re: [Audyssey] Neospeech Kate?

2008-12-13 Thread dark
i must admit, probably out of all Jim's games, monopoly is the one I'd most
like to see multiple computer opponents in, exactly for that reason.

Game of life is quite playable on your own, sinse reading the square text
and seeing what fortunes or misfortunes happen in the game is quite fun in
itself, but monopoly against one opponent just doesn't seem to work imho.

This is really sad, given all the great work jim's put into the creation of
board files and the customization of the game.

If this is not possible, I have had a thought.

Perhaps if Jim created an option in the game that let you in put one
player's turn manually, instead of having random dice rolls, it'd be
possible to play over skype or via forum post, by each player just saying
how many squares they moved, and what property etc they wish to buy?

This would let people have games against others who weren't physically
present, via mailing list, forums or skype, and thus would be a more
interesting option for those people who don't often have others physically
around to play monopoly with.

I know that internet multiplayer code has it's own complications, but maybe
for games like monopoly, battleships or the game of life which is turn
based, this could be a handy work around.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

[Audyssey] Jim's Monopoly question

2008-12-13 Thread ari

Hi
I know this has probably been asked before, but I don't know in what post.
My question is, why can't monopoly be made so that you can have a computer
player even if you don't choose a one-player game, or even, why can't you
choose for the fun to have multiple computer oponents, example, a
four-player game made up of you and a pal, plus two computers? I'm asking
because I've installed monopoly for a friend, and, because she often plays
by herself, she finds it boring to always just play against one computer.
