Re: [Audyssey] I beat mission 3 on cast aways!!!
Hi. I've also finished mission 3. The key is to send out war parties early enough before the enemy builds up strength. By the time I build my 12th catapult the enemy was sending 5 soldiers and a knight. Re: [Audyssey] discoveries in castaways
Again, I had some thoughts and questions of what if I do this, what if i do that, so I try them out and here are more discoveries. I had save games on mission 1 and 3 just before they are completed and I closed the ship and last catapult so the game won't end and I can play around. Mission 1 on easy: I first make sure my settlement is safe from goblins, more than enough supply of food and got my population to 100. Discoveries, I think about 5 knights will do the trick but slightly more will be better in case of any injurys. If there are no more stones on the map, stone masons will get stones from outside the territory, but is not the case for lumberjacks. If all the forests become scattered trees, the lumberjacks who are out cutting trees will never return, but the cutest thing is...they can still stretch their hands long enough back to the tavern to get food. haha! The way I got those people back is to let them die of starvation and have new children. In such a large population when there are many things happening on 1 single click, I noticed that the messages showing is quite behind time. Mission 3 on easy: Even easy difficulty is hard!!! Hard difficulty...I have not even attempted. haha! Ok, I have a population of 32 at the point when my last catapult have enough resources. I raided with 5 knights, 5 rangers and 5 pikemen a couple of times. Discoveries about raiding, There will be 3 to 5 killed and few more injured each time. I think is worth it at the beginning as the enemy troop raids are weakened. but towards the later stages, I feel that it hurts more than help. My raids don't seem to have any effect on them and I weaken my own power. The enemy will still send their full power of 5 each over. Or defending is a better strategy? Next thing to try is to also have 5 cavalrys and 5 soldiers, but...I wonder if I can hold on long enough to get them up. Somehow, I feel that there are more injuries in this version than the previous versions especially at the beginning stages of the game. I am forced to get my hospital and textile up early. haha! 锦发/Steady Goh - Original Message - From: Jeremy Kaldobsky jer...@kaldobsky.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, August 13, 2011 10:59 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] discoveries in castaways That's a really good idea for mission 2! Lol something like that. I was basically cornered for the entire match hahaha. you hear that you'd be like man! doesn't he know how to use the block button? or jump out the way? thing is, that guy is extremely good at mixups. when I blocked high he'd hit low and vice versa. when I jumped, he'd defeat the jump-ins with something else. and he'd do it in a split second. he really knew Jade's recovery times quite well, as well as scorpion's, and his well timed wake-up attacks meant death. Re: [Audyssey] What is Mk?
Nope, it's a mainstream fighting game series that's been around since the early 90's on consoles. There have been a few versions released for PC too, but nothing recent that I'm aware of. Most of the MK games have been playable to a fairly high extent by blind people, and this is even more the case with the latest couple of releases due to the awesome sound design of the games. It's worth pointing out that playable is different from accessible, so although there are audio cues of some kind for most forms of action or defence, and it's possible to tell the location of your character and whoever you're going up against nowadays from sound alone, none of that has been put in place specifically to enhance accessibility. There's nothing in place in the way of talking menus and the like. Hth Scott On 8/24/11, Christina greensleev...@gmail.com wrote: Hi. Has this game been adapted for blind players? Re: [Audyssey] discoveries in castaways
Steady, thanks for catching that bug for me. Lumberjacks are Supposed! to act the same as stone masons once the resources are gone on the map. I've put that on my list of things to fix. I believe you have the right idea about raiding the enemy in mission 3. While their total army is still relatively small, sending your own will mean they can't send as much to attack you. Once they finally grow large enough, killing several of their soldiers won't affect their next raid attack if they still have 5 of everything left after you killed some. Once it reaches that point, I also switch over to total defense. Very nicely done sir! I am forced to get my hospital and textile up early. haha! 锦发/Steady Goh --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Hi Christina, No, but many blind players have learned to play the MK games on their own by listening to sounds, by practicing, and through simple trial and error. Hi Yohandi, I really don't want to put you down further or something, but this fighting of Jade in the second match was simply awesome. I think the simple answer to the question why you lost so badly is, that she simply didn't give you a chance to fight back. You couldn't even stand up properly after getting hit, she immediately sent you down again! My guess is, that she constantly put in very long combos, possible unblockables or things like that. Just a guess though, since I don't really know the game and the combo system. Re: [Audyssey] 2 new and short MK matches for you guys.
precisely. the guy knew his character well and was aware of what he was doing every step of the way. notice how he'd back dash just enough to prevent me from retaliating, yet he'd always keep the right distance to allow him to keep me cornered with some projectiles then follow it up with some juggles? this proves that not only did he know his character, but it appears he was aware of scorpion's weaknesses as well. same thing probably holds true for every other character he's fought. course while I was getting that sound beating I wasn't exactly thinking of all this, it's after I listened to the beating that I realized wow, I got owned worse than I originally thought. hahaha. Hi, Well, the only thing I can think of to account for this behavior is the enemy's min and max attack range. Hi Jack - you wanted the 7-128 Software demo to use Dark Keyboard. I'm not sure that the old demo will work - that is the reason we removed the demo from our latest version of the GameBook - we were having problems with the demos. However, any stand-alone GameBook game listed on our website will work as well. So if you purchase a $5.00 game it will provide the engine for dark keyboard as well as the GameBook would. Hi Raul and all. Here here. I've said it before and I'll say it again I am just darn glad that Thomas chose to take on this project and chose to honor the purchases of the original Montezuma's Revenge and the rest of those of us who paid for the original Montezuma's Revenge should be glad as well or we would have to just write off that 35 bucks or whatever it was. It was not my intention to sound like a butt head or be too harsh with folks in my last message, but I think that many of the people in this little community of ours simply do not have a clue as to how good we have it with these developers who actually come on this list and listen to us and who seem to feel that just because they have purchased a game the developer is their slave for life. Re: [Audyssey] mota beta 22 thoughts
Hi Tom, Thanks for pointing that out. I don't think everyone on list or in this community fully realises how good they have it. That i would not only work on a game that wasn't my own to begin with, but allow a certain amount of input, testing, etc as well. I could have just not bothered taking over Montezuma's revenge or Raceway and we'd all be out the $35 or whatever it cost. Plus I've always tried to be open with the public. Letting people know when I'm releasing an update, telling them of things I'm going to try in advance, and being as transparent about the process as possible. Unfortunately, though, not everyone is going to be happy with what I do no matter what. That's why I have to make final decisions on things that maybe certain people aren't going to like. That's ok, because as you say if a person isn't happy with the product they can spend the time and energy learning to program their own game their way. Cheers! Hi Lenron, To my knoledge the latest MK game is only for the game consoles like Play Station III, XBox 360, etc. I haven't heard of a PC version. As for it working with Jaws its a mainstream console game so it doesn't work with Jaws or any screen reader. You have to memorize the placement of items in the menus in order to play it. Also, does anyone have the older version of alien outback from ESP? Don't worry it's not cracking, all I want is the demo version, in fact, since I have a reg code I am most likely able to use the same key to register the game. And finally, I have the super mario brothers game from dragon slayer games. It might be a concept demo, but anyway, I unzipped it and didn't see a .exe file to start the game, but I found mario.tkn and thaught that had something to do with starting the game but it didn't. You first need to climb down said rope and explore the several rooms to the left of it and pulling the lever you'll find before making your way back up the rope. Re: [Audyssey] mota beta 22 thoughts
Tom: You hit it right on the head with this post! I really appreciate the progress of MOTA, the fact that we have input into how the game comes out because Thomas Ward is allowing it, and his dedication to see the project he took over to fruition. You're right, also, about the fact that if people don't like what he's developing, they don't have to buy it. Then again, if people who bought Montezuma's revenge from James North, and they don't like how MOTA turns out, then they can hunt for James North and get their money back from the one who took it, or they can chalk the experience of preordering up to a lesson in what not to do in the future. Testing MOTA has been a lot of fun, and the finished product will be a lot more fun. Thanks, Thomas. --- Security is not the absence of danger. Sure I work and I can afford to kiss off 35 bucks if I have to, but I'd rather not. I can definitely see what you're saying about the betas but I for one really appreciated them as it at least gave me the assurance that I had paid for something and that it was being worked on and progress was being made. Because I've helped on game development myself I haven't minded that it is slow but it's been real nice to keep up on the progress and actually be able to play the game as it is being worked on. Try going to Capcom or Namco or one of the other big mainstream developers and see how far you get telling them you don't like this or that about their game or you want this or that. You'll get laughed off the phone assuming you are actually able to talk to a live person at all. I am not saying there is not a little room for constructive criticism or input particularly if the developer asks for it but folks need to remember this is the developer's project and not theirs whether they have paid anything for it or not. If you want a game done exactly your way then sit down and learn to program and write one. Me I am too lazy to do that even if I had the time which I don't so I'll offer feedback if it is wanted and check out whatever the developers put out and if I like it enough I'll buy it and if I don't I won't, as a consumer you absolutely have the right to do that. [Audyssey] question about raiding enemy
Hi Jeremy, got a question...If enemy raid with 3 soldiers and 1 knight, I believe this is their full force and is quite weak. I launch an attack with 3 types of army and 5 of each, how is it that i suffer so much losts? Is a challenge to rebuilt again and is ok...just like to be clear about it. Btw, did you notice that when you released the last version, the discussions of this game seems much lesser? I guess mission 3 is too difficult for many of them. They feel that is unbeatable and have given up. Looking forward to your new version and I know it won't take you long. haha! And we can always expect something new added in the new release and not just minor changes here and there but is actually still the same thing. Thanks for your cool work and...thanks for giving me a hard time. haha! 锦发/Steady Goh - Original Message - From: Jeremy Kaldobsky jer...@kaldobsky.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Wednesday, August 24, 2011 11:30 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] discoveries in castaways Steady, thanks for catching that bug for me. I am forced to get my hospital and textile up early. haha! 锦发/Steady Goh --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org.
