Re: [Audyssey] I beat mission 3 on cast aways!!!

2011-08-24 Thread Willem
Hi. I've also finished mission 3. The key is to send out war parties
early enough before the enemy builds up strength. By the time I build my
12th catapult the enemy was sending 5 soldiers and a knight.

Re: [Audyssey] discoveries in castaways

2011-08-24 Thread Steady Goh
Again, I had some thoughts and questions of what if I do this, what if i do
that, so I try them out and here are more discoveries.
I had save games on mission 1 and 3 just before they are completed and I
closed the ship and last catapult so the game won't end and I can play
around.
Mission 1 on easy: I first make sure my settlement is safe from goblins,
more than enough supply of food and got my population to 100.
Discoveries, I think about 5 knights will do the trick but slightly more
will be better in case of any injurys. If there are no more stones on the
map, stone masons will get stones from outside the territory, but is not the
case for lumberjacks. If all the forests become scattered trees, the
lumberjacks who are out cutting trees will never return, but the cutest
thing is...they can still stretch their hands long enough back to the tavern
to get food. haha! The way I got those people back is to let them die of
starvation and have new children. In such a large population when there are
many things happening on 1 single click, I noticed that the messages showing
is quite behind time.

Mission 3 on easy: Even easy difficulty is hard!!! Hard difficulty...I have
not even attempted. haha!
Ok, I have a population of 32 at the point when my last catapult have enough
resources. I raided with 5 knights, 5 rangers and 5 pikemen a couple of
times.
Discoveries about raiding, There will be 3 to 5 killed and few more injured
each time. I think is worth it at the beginning as the enemy troop raids
are weakened. but towards the later stages, I feel that it hurts more than
help. My raids don't seem to have any effect on them and I weaken my own
power. The enemy will still send their full power of 5 each over. Or
defending is a better strategy? Next thing to try is to also have 5 cavalrys
and 5 soldiers, but...I wonder if I can hold on long enough to get them up.
Somehow, I feel that there are more injuries in this version than the
previous versions especially at the beginning stages of the game. I am
forced to get my hospital and textile up early. haha!

That's a really good idea for mission 2! I'll have to try that myself
next time I play it. It seems like a great way to attack early and
destroy them before they have time to even build their settlement! lol.

Oh...I think that explains why at the
beginning, my doctor and cook is just doing part time job
but towards the end I have 2 or 3 patients queueing and
waiting and the cook almost have to be full time there.
Kelvin, I like your suggestion but think I'm gonna hate you
for suggesting that. haha!

Since the subject here is discoverys I do have 1 just for
fun. I always like to think of different possibilities and
try out different ways of doing something. In mission 2, I
set my starter to defender and created a war tent right at
the start. You should know what to do next. It also does
work on hard difficulty.

Hi Alfredo,

I see the source of your confusion. Normally combat is spelled with a
c, but not in the name Mortal Kombat. For reasons I'll never
understand the game named Mortal Kombat has a k instead of a c in
Kombat. So no its not spelled MOrtal Combat but Mortal Kombat.

Nope, it's a mainstream fighting game series that's been around since
the early 90's on consoles. There have been a few versions released
for PC too, but nothing recent that I'm aware of. Most of the MK games
have been playable to a fairly high extent by blind people, and this
is even more the case with the latest couple of releases due to the
awesome sound design of the games. It's worth pointing out that
playable is different from accessible, so although there are audio
cues of some kind for most forms of action or defence, and it's
possible to tell the location of your character and whoever you're
going up against nowadays from sound alone, none of that has been put
in place specifically to enhance accessibility. There's nothing in
place in the way of talking menus and the like.

Re: [Audyssey] discoveries in castaways

2011-08-24 Thread Jeremy Kaldobsky
Steady, thanks for catching that bug for me. Lumberjacks are Supposed! to act
the same as stone masons once the resources are gone on the map. I've put that
on my list of things to fix.

I believe you have the right idea about raiding the enemy in mission 3. While
their total army is still relatively small, sending your own will mean they
can't send as much to attack you. Once they finally grow large enough, killing
several of their soldiers won't affect their next raid attack if they still
have 5 of everything left after you killed some. Once it reaches that point, I
also switch over to total defense.

Very nicely done sir!

Again, I had some thoughts and
questions of what if I do this, what if i do that, so I try
them out and here are more discoveries.
I had save games on mission 1 and 3 just before they are
completed and I closed the ship and last catapult so the
game won't end and I can play around.
Mission 1 on easy: I first make sure my settlement is safe
from goblins, more than enough supply of food and got my
 population to 100.
Discoveries, I think about 5 knights will do the trick but
slightly more will be better in case of any injurys. If
there are no more stones on the map, stone masons will get
stones from outside the territory, but is not the case for
lumberjacks. If all the forests become scattered trees, the
lumberjacks who are out cutting trees will never return, but
the cutest thing is...they can still stretch their hands
long enough back to the tavern to get food. haha! The way I
got those people back is to let them die of starvation and
have new children. In such a large population when there are
many things happening on 1 single click, I noticed that the
messages showing is quite behind time.

Mission 3 on easy: Even easy difficulty is hard!!! Hard
difficulty...I have not even attempted. haha!
Ok, I have a population of 32 at the point when my last
catapult have enough resources. I raided with 5 knights, 5
rangers and 5 pikemen a couple of times.
Discoveries about raiding, There will be 3 to 5 killed and
few more injured each time. I think is worth it at the
beginning as the enemy  troop raids are weakened. but
towards the later stages, I feel that it hurts more than
help. My raids don't seem to have any effect on them and I
weaken my own power. The enemy will still send their full
power of 5 each over. Or defending is a better strategy?
Next thing to try is to also have 5 cavalrys and 5 soldiers,
but...I wonder if I can hold on long enough to get them up.
Somehow, I feel that there are more injuries in this
version than the previous versions especially at the
beginning stages of the game. I am forced to get my hospital
 and textile up early. haha!

2011-08-24 Thread Sarah Haake

Hi Yohandi,

I really don't want to put you down further or something, but this
fighting of Jade in the second match was simply awesome.
I think the simple answer to the question why you lost so badly is, that
she simply didn't give you a chance to fight back. You couldn't even
stand up properly after getting hit, she immediately sent you down
again!
My guess is, that she constantly put in very long combos, possible
unblockables or things like that. Just a guess though, since I don't
really know the game and the combo system.
But I whish I could fight that way, her fingers have to fly over the
controller to put such a constant stream of attacks in. *lol*

precisely. the guy knew his character well and was aware of what he was
doing every step of the way. notice how he'd back dash just enough to
prevent me from retaliating, yet he'd always keep the right distance to
allow him to keep me cornered with some projectiles then follow it up with
some juggles? this proves that not only did he know his character, but it
appears he was aware of scorpion's weaknesses as well. same thing probably
holds true for every other character he's fought. course while I was getting
that sound beating I wasn't exactly thinking of all this, it's after I
listened to the beating that I realized wow, I got owned worse than I
originally thought. hahaha. I should record more of my matches and analyze
them. it's rather fun

Yup, agreed on all fronts dude. Round two was a particularly
impressive display of playing on recovery times I thought, seems like
everytime you got up he was perfectly placed and ready with his next
move. Tbh I listened and thought not sure I would've been able to

Well, they're not unblockables. you don't really have those in this game.
it's just that Jade has a wide range of moves at her disposal. I've fought
jade lots of times online and with friends, but never have I been beaten
that soundly. I compare that beating to the one Poongko gave Daigo. rofl.
also as I mentioned, my brain just sorta shut down. I didn't even try to do
a breaker which is just about the dumbest thing anyone could ever do. I
remember at the time thinking ok I'm gonna just wait for my meter to fill up
and x-ray at random to try and stand a chance. needless to say I didn't even
get a chance to use it. also you saw when I threw my spear and he hit me
with a low jab as soon as it was coming out? that was totally awesome.

Hi,

Well, the only thing I can think of to account for this behavior is
the enemy's min and max attack range. If you are in too close they
can't attack, and if you are too far away they can't attack either.
Plus on the Beginner level their attacks are much fewer than say on
Advanced.

Re: [Audyssey] mota beta 22 thoughts

2011-08-24 Thread Tom Randall

Hi Raul and all.

Here here. I've said it before and I'll say it again I am just darn glad
that Thomas chose to take on this project and chose to honor the purchases
of the original Montezuma's Revenge and the rest of those of us who paid for
the original Montezuma's Revenge should be glad as well or we would have to
just write off that 35 bucks or whatever it was. Sure I work and I can
afford to kiss off 35 bucks if I have to, but I'd rather not.

I can definitely see what you're saying about the betas but I for one really
appreciated them as it at least gave me the assurance that I had paid for
something and that it was being worked on and progress was being made.
Because I've helped on game development myself I haven't minded that it is
slow but it's been real nice to keep up on the progress and actually be able
to play the game as it is being worked on.

It was not my intention to sound like a butt head or be too harsh with folks
in my last message, but I think that many of the people in this little
community of ours simply do not have a clue as to how good we have it with
these developers who actually come on this list and listen to us and who
seem to feel that just because they have purchased a game the developer is
their slave for life. Try going to Capcom or Namco or one of the other big
mainstream developers and see how far you get telling them you don't like
this or that about their game or you want this or that. You'll get laughed
off the phone assuming you are actually able to talk to a live person at
all. I am not saying there is not a little room for constructive criticism
or input particularly if the developer asks for it but folks need to
remember this is the developer's project and not theirs whether they have
paid anything for it or not. If you want a game done exactly your way then
sit down and learn to program and write one. Me I am too lazy to do that
even if I had the time which I don't so I'll offer feedback if it is wanted
and check out whatever the developers put out and if I like it enough I'll
buy it and if I don't I won't, as a consumer you absolutely have the right
to do that.

Game on.

Thomas, this is one reason why I have often wondered why you have released
so many public betas. People should just be patient and wait for the final
release with maybe 1, or 2 public betas, but that should be it. The idea

I am very sure you just wanna get this off your shoulders and move onto

Re: [Audyssey] mota beta 22 thoughts

2011-08-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Tom,

Thanks for pointing that out. I don't think everyone on list or in
this community fully realises how good they have it. That i would not
only work on a game that wasn't my own to begin with, but allow a
certain amount of input, testing, etc as well. I could have just not
bothered taking over Montezuma's revenge or Raceway and we'd all be
out the $35 or whatever it cost.

Plus I've always tried to be open with the public. Letting people know
when I'm releasing an update, telling them of things I'm going to try
in advance, and being as transparent about the process as possible.
Unfortunately, though, not everyone is going to be happy with what I
do no matter what. That's why I have to make final decisions on things
that maybe certain people aren't going to like. That's ok, because as
you say if a person isn't happy with the product they can spend the
time and energy learning to program their own game their way.

Cheers!

Me I am too lazy to do that
even if I had the time which I don't so I'll offer feedback if it is wanted
and check out whatever the developers put out and if I like it enough I'll
buy it and if I don't I won't, as a consumer you absolutely have the right
 to do that.

 Game on.

 Tom

 Hi Yohandi,

I really don't want to put you down further or something, but this
fighting of Jade in the second match was simply awesome.
I think the simple answer to the question why you lost so badly is, that
she simply didn't give you a chance to fight back. You couldn't even stand

up properly after getting hit, she immediately sent you down again!
My guess is, that she constantly put in very long combos, possible
unblockables or things like that. Just a guess though, since I don't
really know the game and the combo system.
But I whish I could fight that way, her fingers have to fly over the
controller to put such a constant stream of attacks in. *lol*

Hi Lenron,

To my knoledge the latest MK game is only for the game consoles like
Play Station III, XBox 360, etc. I haven't heard of a PC version. As
for it working with Jaws its a mainstream console game so it doesn't
work with Jaws or any screen reader. You have to memorize the
placement of items in the menus in order to play it.

Hi all,
I wanted to ask you guys some questions about abandoned games. First
of all, does anyone have hunter1.0 and troopanum1.0? Also, do you have
the jump game from pb-games? I have all of them except the jump game.
Also, does anyone have the older version of alien outback from ESP?
Don't worry it's not cracking, all I want is the demo version, in
fact, since I have a reg code I am most likely able to use the same
key to register the game. And finally, I have the super mario brothers
game from dragon slayer games. It might be a concept demo, but anyway,
I unzipped it and didn't see a .exe file to start the game, but I
found mario.tkn and thaught that had something to do with starting the
game but it didn't. Really, it would be better if they compiled it so
you wouldn't have to unzip it and go hunting for the game.
Thanks.
best regards,
jack

has been a lot of fun, and the finished product will be a lot more fun.
Thanks, Thomas.

Hi Raul and all.

Here here. I've said it before and I'll say it again I am just darn glad
that Thomas chose to take on this project and chose to honor the purchases
of the original Montezuma's Revenge and the rest of those of us who paid
for the original Montezuma's Revenge should be glad as well or we would
have to just write off that 35 bucks or whatever it was. Sure I work and
I can afford to kiss off 35 bucks if I have to, but I'd rather not.

I can definitely see what you're saying about the betas but I for one
really appreciated them as it at least gave me the assurance that I had
paid for something and that it was being worked on and progress was being
made. Because I've helped on game development myself I haven't minded that
it is slow but it's been real nice to keep up on the progress and actually
be able to play the game as it is being worked on.

It was not my intention to sound like a butt head or be too harsh with
folks in my last message, but I think that many of the people in this
little community of ours simply do not have a clue as to how good we have
it with these developers who actually come on this list and listen to us
and who seem to feel that just because they have purchased a game the
developer is their slave for life. Try going to Capcom or Namco or one of
the other big mainstream developers and see how far you get telling them
you don't like this or that about their game or you want this or that.
You'll get laughed off the phone assuming you are actually able to talk to
a live person at all. I am not saying there is not a little room for
constructive criticism or input particularly if the developer asks for it
but folks need to remember this is the developer's project and not theirs
whether they have paid anything for it or not. If you want a game done
exactly your way then sit down and learn to program and write one. Me I
am too lazy to do that even if I had the time which I don't so I'll offer
feedback if it is wanted and check out whatever the developers put out and
if I like it enough I'll buy it and if I don't I won't, as a consumer you
absolutely have the right to do that.

Game on.

Thomas, this is one reason why I have often wondered why you have
released so many public betas. People should just be patient and wait for
the final release with maybe 1, or 2 public betas, but that should be it.
The idea of, I'm blind and I want things my way or else I'll throw a fit
is for children, not adults.

I am very sure you just wanna get this off your shoulders and move onto
other things, and I for one can't wait to see the final project and I
know I will enjoy it regardless.

Thanks.

Hi Yohandy,

That's a very valid point. I think I've been far too liberal in the
past, too willing to change things based on suggestions in the past,

this or that at the drop of a hat. What some gamers here forget is no
mainstream developer commercial, independant, or otherwise is going to
just change such and such because one or two gamers grumble about it.
What I've done in terms of beta 22 which I wanted to do clear back as
early as beta 20 is freeze the development of the game. That is to say
stop adding features, changes, whatever and actually focus on adding
new levels, cutscenes, and whatever has to be done to get this 1.0
ready. That is primarily what I'm doing right now, and I'm sticking to
that. I've closed out the suggestions and changes portion

2011-08-24 Thread john
The only problem with this theory I see is that the enemies don't attack me
when I *walk* away from them, and don't try to chase me either. I've been
able to leave the room, and then come back and shoot them without them
moving. If you'd like, I could try to record a demo of this, but I'm not
sure how much luck I'll have, as it does seem to be rather random.

Hi,

Well, the only thing I can think of to account for this behavior is
the enemy's min and max attack range. If you are in too close they
can't attack, and if you are too far away they can't attack either.
Plus on the Beginner level their attacks are much fewer than say on
Advanced.

right now) but it may have happened with skeletons as well.

[Audyssey] another question

2011-08-24 Thread Curt Taubert
Okay, I can make it up stairs. Here's another problem. How do I remove the
Trofee a few steps to the right of the stairs? I guess that's a trofee.
Anyway, I thought you could hit enter on it, but when I do, nothing happens.

[Audyssey] question about raiding enemy

2011-08-24 Thread Steady Goh
Hi Jeremy, got a question...If enemy raid with 3 soldiers and 1 knight, I
believe this is their full force and is quite weak. I launch an attack with
3 types of army and 5 of each, how is it that i suffer so much losts? Is a
challenge to rebuilt again and is ok...just like to be clear about it.
Btw, did you notice that when you released the last version, the discussions
of this game seems much lesser? I guess mission 3 is too difficult for many
of them. They feel that is unbeatable and have given up.
Looking forward to your new version and I know it won't take you long. haha!
And we can always expect something new added in the new release and not just
minor changes here and there but is actually still the same thing. Thanks
for your cool work and...thanks for giving me a hard time. haha!

Subject: Re: [Audyssey] discoveries in castaways

Steady, thanks for catching that bug for me. Lumberjacks are Supposed! to
act the same as stone masons once the resources are gone on the map. I've
put that on my list of things to fix.

I believe you have the right idea about raiding the enemy in mission 3.
While their total army is still relatively small, sending your own will
mean they can't send as much to attack you. Once they finally grow large
enough, killing several of their soldiers won't affect their next raid
attack if they still have 5 of everything left after you killed some.
Once it reaches that point, I also switch over to total defense.

I am forced to get my hospital
and textile up early. haha!
