Hi Trouble,

Some day when I no longer have any ideas for new games to work on and have
nothing better to do, I might then go back and up date everyone of my games to
use all of the new programming techniques that I have learned over the years.
But when I play the games now they all run bug free when used the way that they
were meant to be used.

Hi Gary,

Ok, I will look into fixing just the alt key thing in Monopoly right after I
get done what I am working on right now.

There is no way that I could write a function for all of my games that would
give them a pause feature that would just trap all keys except for the key to
un pause it. If I had thought of that before I wrote the first game maybe I
could have built that into all of them, but the way that they are written it
just simply would not work at all.

Hi Gary,
Well, there is no way to create a function that will work with all the
games unless he edits them all by hand coding it 25 or 26 times. I can
understand where he is coming from not wanting to update 26 games at
once perhaps put it in the todo file for each game under consideration
for other updates.
As for Raceway there will be a pause feature for those real pit stops
you mentioned. As well as a save game feature. Grin

My suggestion, is to build a function that could fit all your games.
What I see is a Pause function. Gamers who need to pop out of the game

This function usually consists of the keyboard only accepting the toggle

Hi Gary,
Lol! Yeah, big crash. Though, it is very true. The older a program gets
it needs to be updated if the developer wishes it to remain with current
technology trends. Though, we have been down this road before and I
don't have any plans of venturing down it again.

Re: [Audyssey] bug with jim kitchens monopoly

2008-03-03 Thread Gary Whittington
I was thinking of an external pause function. Where each game then would
only have a line or two of code that executes the external program.
Just looking a way to solve Jimmy need to improve all his games.

Those who wanted to upgrade to those improved games could.
Do the games that have the bigger demand like Monopoly, which takes a long
time to play. Small games that
don't can be bypass- Original Message -ed. MOnopoly with its
multiplayers certain is a must as any other Jim's game that may be played by
more then one players.
Playing a game with friends or family members and you as a host of the game
then by mistake you Tab out of the game, it don't look good for you as if
you were trying to abort the game or just could not handle the game
correctly.

My point is not to do the face left on all the games all at once.
But give improvements to the games that really could use a pause feature, so
it don't crash and make the game look shabby workmenship.

There's game again that take time to play and changing windoes is so a
natural thing to do with out thinking, its just easy to tab out of the game
with out saveing.

Jim's older games for DOS may not have the problem and it onlly looks to be
the games for windoes that usings the menu system to play them.
It may be this menu system that is causing the crashes, and if so its the
menu system may be the program only needs to be improved.

This no flare just a friendly suggestions to improve upon will built games.

The worst feeling besides losing a game is winning one and then it crashes
with a lot of time invested.

Hi Alex,

May I suggest, if you need to do something else during a game, use the save
game feature and come back to the game later.

My games do not like it if you use alt f4 to close the game. I did not know
how to solve that problem, so I trapped the alt key. Actually made it an egg.
It pops your cd tray in and out. But apparently it on some computers instead
causes an error.

Again though, just use the save game feature and come back to the game later.

I use free download manager. I love the thing;it doesn't interfeer with
anything I do, so if I'm downloading, say, a 100 mb file, I can just sit

download finishes, but I get no window that appears- which means I can
finish what I'm doing, get the screen reader up, alt tab, and bam, there's

Subject: [Audyssey] bug with jim kitchens monopoly

 Hi list.
Ok i'm running the latest version of jim kitchens monoppoly, and i've
 found
what i think is a bug.
Whenever i alt tab away from it to switch to another window, like msn for
example to talk to someone, the game crashes.
the error i get is as follows
 monopoly
 Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)': Automation error
 Unspecified error
does anyone else have this problem?

Re: [Audyssey] bug with jim kitchens monopoly

2008-02-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Alex,
Yes, I have seen that issue with some of Jim's games. Not exactly sure
what is up with that, but when playing his games it is best to play them
when you aren't going to be alt+tabbing through a bunch of apps.
