[Audyssey] guilds
Hi all how do I join a gild in core exiles? I think i may look at a list, since I really need to do something about getting somewhere. right now I only just have enough to live by. Sooner rather than later I will be running out of things. ip is low, like real low spent most of it well a good chunk of 20k on servey for an extracter which I have placed. I will be in a few missions be low on kits, not to mention I need to get more weaponry at some point. so I think a guild is the next thing I need to get in, being indipendant just doesn't cut it. on that note what do all of you guys use for chatting on the irc server I have a configed build of miranda but couldn't get it working right with irc. My next plan was to get a good irc client. Where do I get a free one that works. the last one I heard about with the bofhnetirc client which was pree freedomchat but thats real old. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Screen Readers and Games
well thats why I like to use hal over jaws, one thing I like is you can turn hotkeys and voice off with a couple keystrokes then go through and process say a game or something yet the speech is there on demand. At 04:59 a.m. 1/12/2009, you wrote: It's not just in games Tom that I find this useful. in winamp or power dvd I can flick Hal's voice on to deal with config, or selecting a new folder to listen to, then flick it off again and just use keyboard commands as normal, without Hal saying X whenever I start Winamp playing etc. Doing this I was able to actually customize power dvd's time skip feature to exactly 91 seconds, which very nicely skips the voyager opening theme, which I'd otherwise have to sit through many times sinse I've been doing a a full watch through of all 7 series (I'm mid way through series six currently). Pluss, I now know the vastly important information that voyager's opening sequence is exactly 92 seconds long, which obviously was invaluable to learn! Beware the Grue! Indeed, there have been occasions when I've played a bit of a game, flicked out of it, turned Hal's voice on to read E-mails or deal with other matters, then gone back to the game. This is especially true of games where I have to wait for some reason, like Che martin's card games waiting for new players, or even waiting for your character to regain health in technoshock (which seems to take ages). I also flick Hal's voice off when watching dvds for the same reason. I'd actually miss this feature quite a lot if it wasn't possible to use. Beware the grue! If he could use the JFW API for the game he could use the same for Window Eyes too. In the end he finally added Window Eyes and Sapi 5 support in version 3.5. However, that might not have happened if there were not enough non-Jaws users to maret such an upgrade. Cases like this sets a president that we can't assume what access technology, if any, is present on the target computer. I also at first had troubles applying changes globally, but as for day to day use (when I'm not digging in the thing) window-eyes was all in all a plezent experience to work with. then when I ended up on vista I started to use jaws daily. it was an easier thing to learn I'll admit and I got used to it quite a lot. dolphin's products, hmm. have these at school. I find them weird. the hot keys are especially confusing, sometimes requiring left, or specifrically, right, control, making me getting hal announcing the key instead of performing the function I expected it to do. I do, however, like its... uh. what was it called. verbosity schemes I think. it allows full modification of just about anything the thing says. for instance I changed it to say checked/unchecked instead of its default selected/unselected on checkboxes, that sort of thing. I wish though they made a seaprate buffer for msaa content instead of using their mouse emulation with some DOM thrown in to do the job. I had to laugh, sinse I stil remember upgrading from version 4 to version 5 9 years ago, and after trying the version four keyset, deciding it'd be more worth my while to get used to the new version 5 keys than persist with the version 4 ones which didn't seem to let me access some of version 5's new features. That's quite scary in a way! Beware the Grue! I wish though they made a seaprate buffer for msaa content instead of using their mouse emulation with some DOM thrown in to do the job. I did also test system access and nvda and I find I don't have to comment, the 2 are really nice readers. sorry if I went off topic at 1 point or another and sorry for the long message, and take care! - Original

hmmm what about the advanced scripting for advanced users and a menu system like addrift, placing objects, moving round to place objects, etc. At 04:15 p.m. 2/12/2009, you wrote: Hi all, I am, as most of you probably already know, working on a scriptable game engine that will allow you to make advanced games without having to learn a real programming language. However, despite all my efforts to make it as simple as possible it is still a scripting language which might still be daunting for some to grasp and understand. Having followed the recent discussions on list I see that there is a lot of interest in something like a sidescroller creation tool, which leads me to the following question. Would you people like to see high level tools such as a sidescroller builder that basically generates Bgt code based on a template? You would have a pretty interface like any other high level tool, and you would be able to adjust tons of parameters after which time you can get your Bgt code written out in a file ready for use in the engine. This way, people who are starting out can use these template builder things to make something that is fairly close to what they want to create, and then as they get more and more familiar with the workings of the language they can go in and actually modify the game that the template program generated for them. Re: [Audyssey] new chapter added to the game night of parasite
thats cool news, I however have never beaten the game. hmph I'll look at both of these files, I may create another multilang installer again with innosetup 3.6 if I know where I may host the file perminantly. hey everyone! i'm just posting this message to inform you that Francis Wolf (the developer of the night of parasite game) as just released the version 3.1, translated to english, with a new chapter added. i'll first send the link to dropbox, without the installer of the game, because it seems to be having problems with some antivirus (avast, avg, etc). but if you prefer to download from the original site, i'll include the link as well. so,here are the links: (game without the installer): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1652003/Night%20of%20Parasite.zip (game with the installer): http://www.xldmrw.cn/up/updown/NOP31.exe enjoy, and happy gaming! --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. [Audyssey] nop3.1 installer
Hi. subject says it all. Thanks to mathias for shoving me the game I have made an installer with innosetup 3.6 and isstool, after doodling round and hacking bits of the script its ready. Installer features. Should run on any windows version from 95 to whatever. 2. should not have any images, all background tasks are shown not sure about colour. 3. all pages speak, should work on any processer type though not set anything. Due to the fact I don't know all info the author has, and other things I have included the source in the installed program. To successfully compile and edit the iss file you will need isstool and innosetup3.6 get all these from www.innosetup.com get the startup pack to. install the pree processer incription and istool. this program works with all languages or rather a good percentage of them. This system uses lzma internal and external compression at ultra level. It doesn't modify anything bar putting an uninstall in the registry. it does not need any user privilages, yeah anyone can install this program anywhere. Note due to issues with the script I could not configure all the versions etc that it would like. I have also hacked the script so no images are included in the setup. Now where to put it. tom is there space to put it on your site? I'll put it on dropbox for those that care to, but I won't be always online so I will have to find another way. If anyone knows the author, please tell him that his installers are causing all these virus things. However also tell him that I am happy to create installers for his stuff as long as I don't have to modify any system files I am not that advanced I have just used basic wizzard generaters. However i will be more than happy to make the installer for him. he may even use my installer if he wants, the installer is opensource and free to use. the only thing I ask you to do is put the fact the installer was made by using a free program and where to get innosetup from. I don't even want any cash. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. [Audyssey] ok its ready I think
Hi. Ok, the installer works, everything works. Note, in some languages where the program can not register a file you will get the english error because of the language not being defind. these are traditional chinese, japanese and swedish. other than that though the installer is ready to go. I will move it to dropbox, however as I said I don't have a server to put it on, so if I can have it on usagamesinteractive or audiogames then cool. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. [Audyssey] installer for nop uploading
Hi all. Ok this is how its gona work. I am putting the installer on sendspace. thats only going to last for a couple weeks, however it should give people some time to get it and for who ever wants to host it a chance to put it up perminantly, due to my dropbox not always being online and the fact that I am using it for pkb mostly as well as other projects well most of the space is taken. the installer will work and the program will run. Does anyone have an idea how to get passed the cloth man without dieing? this guy is why I eventually quit the game I could basically get passed the major monsters mostly. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Promotion was:Screen Readers and Games
yeah games are secondary, fair enough I suppose. don't lose heart though, we are not out the woods yet. I know for example that mushclient can work direct with jaws and windoweyes and a map exists for lonewolf in hal 5 and later. I think though that expecting the manufacturers to make game scripts just won't happen, however thats no big concern, all readers, hal, jaws and windoweyes have some form of scripting, jaws is scripted and has been for a long time. windoweyes and hal although they had setting and map files respectively have got scripts and people are actively using and developing, true it may cost a bit to get the script adition of the software but at the end of the day you have the tools. nvda was made in python and its an opensource system, you can write modules for it these are scripts by default. At 07:22 a.m. 4/12/2009, you wrote: They'll probably say that it will corrupt the software. Which is a pile of crap as we all know but that will be their argument. Re: [Audyssey] sircus mod for sl
hmmm I like this already, I currently have the game on the max pain mod but when this one comes out I'll switch, a circus manager? hmmm this will be interesting, hmmm there is a thought you die you get booed you win well. ANd ofcause if you get booed the croud can hit you with bottles or tomatoes or something. At 03:12 a.m. 4/12/2009, you wrote: HI all Here is a more detailed sneek preview to my sircus mod I am busy developing. Here is level1's layout for now: Big Spoiler Space All the cut sceens will contain my voice as well as cool sircus music recorded by yours sincerely. Level1: welcome to the boswell wilky sircus tent. Obstacles: Instead of robotic troopers, you will face baby donkeys. They enjoy hot water on their backs, and if you do not splat some hot water on them, they will kick you and you will lose a bit of your health. So instead of shooting the trooppers, you are carrying a self filling container full of warmwater with a host pipe in front. Instead of the robodogs, there will be real dogs, poodles to be exact. Instead of shooting robodogs, you will give a bone to each little sircus poodle approaching you. If you do not give them a bone, they will bite you in your leg and you will lose some health. Of course, in most levels you will hear your footsteps on tent material. It will sound as if you are walking in a huge tent. Instead of the monkeys dropping coconuts, you will find gorillas throughout this level. They sit on chairs hoisted in to the air a little, these chairs are made of silver and the guirillas are in fact tossing coconuts at you and you will lose health if one lands on your head. For now I am not going to tell you what kind of music will be in each level, but it will definitely be sircus music. For each level there will be another kind of sircus music, mainly showtune and march rhythms. The teleporter sound as you are getting closer will be a solo trumpet tune and the music that plays while you are teleporting will be a nice sircus tune. IN this sircus mod only the last part of level7 will be a boss level. The final act of level1 will be a german shepherd riding on a swing high in the air. AS he descends, he will take a munch at your leg and take away some health obviously. The german shepherd does not like warm water, so before he can get too close to the ground to munch your leg, throw warm water at him until he jumps off the swing and runs bark-bark to the sircus boss. Translator stopped working because of changes Google made in it, but everything should be OK now. This release includes also speed improvements in a few places (in media catalog for example) and due to changes in startup code, Klango should start faster on some systems. There are also several other smaller fixes ...so don't wait -- just update your Klango! Klango 3.1 introducing a new service -- available soon For a few weeks we have been working on a new major version of Klango. Klango 3.1 will introduce a new service which will allow you to store your files online and share them with your friends. The Klango Storage service will be also a great feature for groups. The first version of Klango 3.1 is being tested by Klango Testers. Stable version should be released this month. Older versions of Klango -- end of support We decided to end support for Klango 2.0.x and Klango 3 Beta. That's because those old versions use old Klango server software and it became a little bit difficult and time consuming to maintain it. Klango 2.0.x is already not functional for a week and Klango 3 Beta server software will be deleted on 10th December. If your Klango is still 2.0.x then please download new installer from our website and install K3 it in a fresh folder. If you are on one of Klango 3 Betas, then please update it using Klango menu. Symbian Nokia Klango Terminal news For a few weeks, the Klango Terminal for Symbian Nokia phones includes a basic access to all Klango public community forums. If you haven't tested this software yet, we encourage you to do it. The Terminal is available at http://mim.io/redirects/368b244beb7353df08bb4548482f805c?pa=407680682our website and there is an open group of Klango Terminal Testers where you can ask all your questions. Geo-locations -- a request Only 1000 users have set their geo-locations in Klango menu. It's a small part of our community. The geo-locations are useful tool for finding people you can meet first in Klango and then in real-life. Why do not use them? However, please note that we use an external service for the geo-locations. If you can't find your exact location, please set the closest one. Tutorials -- coming soon We're preparing two short tutorials: about installing Nokia Klango Terminal and about Klango Groups. The tutorials will be

hmmm I can get that side. my brother is a chronic game player. he wastes his days playing poker, or battlefield or something after he mangled his hand doing battlefield and ra2 all the time he went to poker but he now sleeps late gets up later and plays all day. I know that I can get on a role and play with the pc whilst I really should be practicing music, cycling, and other things, people make it out that I am quite slack, and I suppose I am quite slack but I think my brother may be a level lower, I at least semi do stuff which although its not really doing it is better than just slobbing not that at one stage I was like this. I think as blind people we seem to stay with what we know, I like my computer, its my comunication its my plaything especially when its my self thats left at home for most of the day. And its my god, ooops issue is now I really need to manage time, because I am now a lazy prick, I promise I will get it one of these days the question is when. Games can be also a danger. Its when you are plain forbidden from playing games for any reason religious or otherwise, or just bard for using a computer or doing something because you are blind or because you do as you are told. I know my family wish I would do more and will nagg me constantly but they won't bar me I don't think, though they keep warning me I will have a boring life after they go and They keep telling me hoping I will get the message, and I suppose I will eventually have to do something about this. Hmmm this chair is so soft snore later At 12:46 a.m. 5/12/2009, you wrote: Well yes games are secondary nobody is arguing that, that's not even an issue. Although it would be nice though But it's this rather stupid mentality of oh games aren't meant for computers or blind people shouldn't be playing games that's what I think is wrong. I mean we all need some form of enjoyment or stress relief at the end of the day for what ever reason. I mean, what's better, playing games, drinking or smoking yourself to death? Because people will find an outlet somewhere and I think gaming is much more healthy in the long run. -Original Message- From: gamers-boun...@audyssey.org [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of shaun everiss Sent: 04 December 2009 00:59 To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Promotion was:Screen Readers and Games yeah games are secondary, fair enough I suppose. don't lose heart though, we are not out the woods yet. I imagine the agencies are primarily focussed on work and business so devote all of their funding and interests into that endever. They see what they do, trying to get blind people employed by giving them computers for work in school, is more important than telling their clients that developer x has a few accessible games to play. They could, for example, put some free games on the system like Jim Kitchens Casino, Life, Monopoly, Hangman, whatever as a start, but they won't because it doesn't have anything to do with their business software only computers. Charles Rivard wrote: Sighted people have games on their computers, and those games are played. That's why gaming is such a big industry. For the sighted computer user, a computer is not a work only device. Why on earth should this not be so for the blind computer user? Windows comes with free games, even. Isn't this a clue for agencies who buy computers for blind people? Hi. night of parasite 3.1 installer is avalible on dropbox. warning! this is far from perminant. Due to testing with mainly pkb and other things the dropbox is quite full, if the size goes over 2gb I will start deleting things, so be warned the public file is not perminant by any means. I will keep this up as long as I can. however note that since this is a remote system its not going to stay up all day, and its not always going to be up. if the link does not work try again later. note. betwene 9 pm and 8 am I will be sleeping, otherwise it should be up previded the following conditions don't happen. 1. the network is not being used for anything else. therea are 3 systems on the network and they do get used. I can't hog upstream. 2. I am out, since I was hacked a couple years ago generally I do keep the system on whilst in the house. but if not in the house or away for a long time the system goes off. I may be doing repair work on other computers, with no active connection. if someone wants to host this perminantly then go nock yourselves out. The installer is part of the file, so go nuts with the code. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1407689/nop31setup.exe --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. yeah I aggree with you. I like shooting people. ofcause those games where you do that in free stress. would I do it in real life, no I would not. for starters it would ruin my life. and second its just sad and sucky to have to get to that level. However children shouldn't play sod for instance or people that are hmmm well not right in the head. that is why we have a ratings system for most stuff games included. Now thats how far companies need to go. now if someone does this and has been warned its their problem. or should be their problem, but its usually the company thats blamed or something like that. miriani was good when I played but I never got on enough. THe net was slow and well. Things cost to much, once I got lucky, found a friend that got me 20 million bucks straight into my account. however I spent 10 mil on a hauler, and 10 mil on my debt for things and I had a couple mil and got a suite and bag and shirt and a com and a few other things. I never progressed and never made my way. I recreated my char and never got really anywhere, got bored and left. I was hopeless in combat, never was able to fight. Core exiles is a bit better but still I actually have issues, I am now in a guild now, but I still have a ways off before I can get anywhere. Hey if you think that while as a newbie once he newbie flag is removed and you get your ships blown up over and over is fun well then congratulations. I have it set to load with out any privs. I have run this system myself but I have dotnet 1 2 3.5 dx9c nov vc08 and 05 and a host of other libs on all the systems so I can just about run anything i want. does the installer care if you had nop 2.4 or not. does the installer need any extras. is something wrong. I need feedback guys. the game should run on every system from win95 to vista and beyond. on that note is there an issue because on vista it runs in program files. if so I will make a folder where it just installs to the root directory or something. however I'd prefur that I did not have a seperate installer. same again if you need privs then tell me I can say you need to be standard admin, or I could just make the installer without the extra hacks I did to it. I like the installer myself but if anyone has an issue they can try to make their own and shove it up. the game should run, its good to note the installer loaded it all ok. if you need to move the folder somewhere then thats good I guess just move the shortcuts. get back to me. [Audyssey] nop31 installer
Hi all. after some tests I have discovered some bugs with the current installer. the main one is the privilages. If you install the game on your system and you are a limited user, either install as admin or you won't be able to uninstall. if you load it on limited user you will not have any control in another user or admin. though I never tested that part. you will not have access to programm files on limited user. I will be recompiling the installer so it runs with admin privs only. I will also be making an installer for vista users or those that don't want to use program files. the scripts will be included. vista installers for those that have uac will be installed to c:\nop or something like that. I could access the root of the drive, however if you have any issue you should be able to change where things go. I don't know how to detect if you are in an non admin account or not. the installer will be deleted once I have another installer uploaded to the server. keep getting the installer right now I will have a new build of the installer up soon. However there should not be an issue with running the game note that I have not got a system to test uac or anything like that. if anyone knows how to sign an installer that would rock but for now. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. [Audyssey] nop3.1
Hi all. Ok. the old file is being removed. or rather has been. you will need winzip, the file is 60mb or so. in it there are 2 installers. now you will need admin for these installers. installer1. nop31vistasetup.exe this will install in the root of the c drive. you will need admin but you should be able to run it from the menu as normal. nop31xpsetup.exe you will be able to run from the menus but it installs in program files as normal. Other notes. this version has the readme and guide in the files. it also is more complete. The good point is that now when ever a new version is made of nop I will just need the binaries and then I can change the scripts. if anyone that knows innosetup knows how to do the list of things that are below please get back to me. detect os, and what section to put it in. detect account, yeah I know I can have min windows version and allow admin but right now I can't put something in c:\users\ whatever unless its broused to probably not important. how to sign apps and if it is more trouble than worth. the installers will be up in a bit and I will upload a file at that time, I mean a link. I have tried on here on different accounts and in all cases the programs have run. if anyone tries now and even on admin still finds programs don't run then the best bet is getting the author to adjust his installer, his email address is in the program and I may email him with the offer to create the installers for him if he wants to host the files, or give him program links to get things. I would much better have this stuff hosted somewhere. on that note did anyone host nop 2.4 when I asked for it. I think it was on audiogames or maybe another server. brandoncole or something don't know. Forgot. could that person email me if they want to host the stuff? right now the file is about 64mb in size, once I have figured out what is happening I hope to just have 32mb. thanks. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. [Audyssey] game up
Hi. ok guys here is the big scary file. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1407689/nop31.zip remember, that vistasetup will put things in your root drive xpsetup will do as normal. you will need admin rights for both these. I have no idea why the program will not run as I tried another account. I have also emailed the author about the installers, so lets see if I will do this full time. I have a list of other stuff in the pipe I have emailed the author about doing to if he wishes. I have also emailed my source scripts to the author to. You will need to use winzip to get the file extracted. or whatever then select what you want. please send feedback at me, not able to tell you why the game does not run but the installers should work now at least I think they will. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Fwd: Re: Fwd: You have uploaded a file (Description: night of parasite innosetup installer)
weird. I have microsoft security. and although it stopped the installer it did not stop the game. did this happen once you installed and then ran from the program group or directly? are you using vista? looks like windows can't read something, when does this error come, at program run, does music play? do you have issues with sound? do any of the files play? could be a codec problem, get and install the klite mega codec pack in default mode and try again this thing does do mp3s. no one bar you seems to be having issues with the game. Turn avg off and try again. but as I said avg would probably come up. ms has not stopped me running the game. its protection is active just did a scan and nothing is going on. did you install to the default drive and directory uninstall get my installer at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1407689/nop31.zip unzip then run one of the 2 installers, try the vistasetup first and see if it runs. if you installed it to an external device try loading it to the default. do a chkdsk c: /f on the c drive or whatever drive is your os drive reboot and after scan is done try again. defrag your drive. chkdsk should fix this. It looks like either the drive is bad, windows can't find the file or something nothing here is going on and in fact you look to be the only one that has this issue. Its sertainly not my installer thats doing this although I have fixed a few bugs in the code. did you run night of parasite 2.4 ok and did it work. did it ever work? YOu probably have some sort of drive or audio file error or something. I have no idea what could be going wrong. a chkdsk will probably fix any errors if there are any, but if the drive is doing other weird things it may be on the way out. the folder and file should work ok. admin should have all the permitions but then I have no idea what your os is I can not test for vista right now but hmph. if anyone else is having this issue I may have to tell the vista installer to not install on 9x versions, and to only load on vista and up, but that means more checking. do you have the latest updates for your os? service packs, etc. this may be the issue to. have any other programs done this? does anyone else have this issue. if so I will rewrite the vista installer but that means reuploading the entire archive. heck I know it works, I'll do that anyway. but that will be it I think. [Audyssey] test installer
Hi. this archive reupload does not apply to everyone. nop31v2setup.exe is a test build with all the win9x and all the nt code stripped out of it. it will only run on vista and up but honestly I don't think this should make any difference. there is no reason for this thing to not work as the xpsetup using it on xp but I may have to make a test build of the file for that to the way things are going. this really shouldn't matter. grrr. if anyone else has any errors please reply to this message. ryan I c I have no idea what is causing this error. but its definately not my code. if you have xp, tell me and I will make a test file for you and you can get it. but really this shouldn't fall over. Ofcause if I do make another test file the archive will become even bigger. I could make another test I suppose and ignore win9x totally but right now everyone seems to be using this. what I may do is try this now, it will be a seperate file, I won't be zipping it up again and then I will just see. however this is the last test build. if all the issues work out I will reduce the setup to the main file and people will have to select their own folders, but hmph. Don't get this last link, its the test program script for innosetup. [Audyssey] last installer
Hi. ok, ok. this is it. I am uploading an installer with no processing, no extra addons and nothing. this is definately it. The game works why it does not run on ryan's system is beyond me but its not my installer. ryan turn off avg shield and try running the game. if that does not work, try a chkdsk on the drive if that does not work. hmmmdo a defrag. do a spybot or other antispyware scan. clear your caches. if that does not work, reformat. If after a reformat that does not work then I think something maybe the main board or hdd is bad. does anything else work? everyone else has virus software and it works. something weird is going on. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Original Message From: Jeff Weiss jnwe...@lwsb.org I just posted a new game to script central Lunar Lander. Some of you may remember this from the Apple II e days. The help text from the script follows: Press Control-Alt-Shift-L to play the LunarLander game. You are landing on the moon and have taken over manual control 500 feet above the surface of the moon. You have a downward velocity of 50 feet per second and you have 120 units of fuel remaining. Your objective is to land softly on the moon and still have fuel remaining. To do this, you must burn fuel at a rate which will slow you down, but not exhaust the fuel too early! Unfortunately, you cannot burn fuel at a constant rate and accomplish your objective. If you burn the same amout of fuel twice in a row, you will forfeit 1 unit of fuel! you can burn from 1 to 30 units of fuel at a time! You need to land with a downward velocity of 10 feet per second or less! Enter letter r alone to repeat your current status. Good luck! Try it out and let me know if there are any problems. well its hard enough, saying that if you get a blade its dead easy. I think it would've been so awesome if you beat super Liam, and the credits rolled as usual. then right in the middle of the credits the boss got right back up, laughed and resumed attacking you right when you were distracted. except this time he was way harder to beat. that would've been so cool. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. tom why don't you put those in a faq somewhere. on that note I thik this list should have a faq if it doesn't have one already most news groups do have a faq. There is simply no way to tell everyone the necessary information at one time, or that the person knows how or were to look for the answers such as mail archives, on line FAQ, whatever. Some, unfortunately, are a bit lazy and don't look up information even though it might be write in the manual on line such and such. It's just that there are about a million simple requests coming in while Thomas clearly and repeatedly stated that he won't be adding new features and he is moving into the final phases of the beta. You could simply say your post was the final straw. In fact the same question about loading and saving was asked two days ago and Thomas then also explained why he won't put it into the demo. It makes logical sense. Have you played any of the audio games, barring entombed, which is a different kind of game, where you could save? This is why it is a demo. You can look at all the gma game engine games, monkey business and many other examples. Well I do do some installers, and a few other things. naturally when I get complaints I do try to solve the issues. Ofcause when these become flames I just don't reply anymore. As long as I have assured myself that at least on my end it works then I am satisfied. Anyway, as far as being able to fix the save/load game problem I realise it is quite easy to solve, but that really was not my point. My over all point to Mike was I have reasons for turningoff the save/load game feature in the beta, and the way he asked for it seamed to me quite rude and insulting. He knows full well it is a beta release, a locked demo, and said features are not there because of that reason. Even if he didn't know he could have reworded his request to me to be a lot nicer about it. Either that or he could have just waited for 1.0 to come out, buy the game, and not even worry about the save/load game feature at all. *Smile* --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. In this game Angela can just pull out an Uzi and hoze the boss down before he closes to attack range. Re: [Audyssey] ending bosses in games
true but you will have to make sure that we can find at least one bladed weapon in level1. if you put that in. you will have to make sure the sword appears in level1 somewhere all the time. if you don't well. At 05:52 p.m. 11/12/2009, you wrote: Hi Dark, Personally, I like the suggestion of limiting the ability to kill a boss to the sword. Since the sword is an enchanted sword it only stands to reason it would be the only weapon powerful enough to slay Kerberos, a cyclops, a minotaur, a hydra, and other such powerful creatures of Greek mythology. Plus the ending battle is going to be a sword duel anyway. Not only that, but besides the bosses mentioned above I've been thinking of making up some new bosses. Say a warrior in heavy armour and sword who will challenge Angela to pass a certain point like cross a bridge or something. Perhaps some ancient Greek mage/sorceror who would be powerful enough to cast fireballs, perhaps create an ice storm, or something cool like that. Perhaps a massive skeleton warrior on horse back. Lots of cool ideas here. dark wrote: Hi Tom. as I said, environmental factors, and tactical advantage! suppose, as happened with certain sword wielding bosses in castlevania, the minertaur's weight when swinging it's sword caused rocks to fall from the cieling which angela had to doge, thus making mow down at a distance a lot harder. a cheaper (but possibly tougher and more dramatic option), might be to have the minertau's thick skin imune to bullets, however the magic sword angela finds in the temple is just the thing, though that might make bosses tough indeed! You could also considder arming the beast with some sort of long distance weapon, spears to throw, a ball and chain etc. I've even seen games where big stationary bosses had magic weapons which they could throw, and then have boomerang back to them! there are mythical counterpoints for such, and those attacks could be a real pest because they would often hit you twice, once on the way out, and once coming back! well I think you should do what you can to at least get the registered version going even if this is just adding the reg support in the game so that those that are waiting for the game due to the pree orders and such don't whine at you, they have been waiting long enough. However since I didn't do the preorder thing when it was mont I say go for it man. I have seen wh what your work is nice and if its going to be better than it actually is which by the way actually is quite good then go nock yourself out. At 02:39 p.m. 13/12/2009, you wrote: Hi everyone, Over the passed few months many of you have reported to me a problem with Mysteries of the Ancients where it crashes suddenly and often times without warning. Some times an error will come up stating that a certain *.wav file could not be found, DirectX passes an illegal argument exception, and so on all of which seam to be related to Managed DirectX. I've confirmed this problem is related to Managed DirectX itself, not my games, from various sources so it is quite apparent that the Managed DirectX API for .NET programs needs to be taken out of the game and be replaced with something else much more stable and reliable. I agree that this should be done before Mysteries of the Ancients 1.0 is released. Obviously this will take some time, but there are various options and alternatives open to me at this point. There is a somewhat short term solution I could use where I simply upgrade the existing Genesis Engine written in C# .NET with alternative sound and input APIs. Just off the top of my head there is FMOD,Earclang, the XNA Framework, and SlimDX just to name a few options here. While upgrading the engine to use one or more of these APIs wouldn't take too long I do wonder if that is the better solution for the project long term. A better long term solution is to simply move away from C# .NET altogether and begin converting the code over to C++ now. Two of my projects STFC and USA Raceway are already in the process of being written in C++, and it would be in my long term interests to go ahead and switch the Genesis Engine and Mysteries of the Ancients to c++ now rather than wait to do it later on. For one thing I've been in the process of converting the Genesis Engine over to C++ anyway as well as some on going projects like the new STFC and USA Raceway. Rather than go through the trouble of removing Managed DirectX from the .NET based engine, upgrading it for this one game, it makes more practical sense to save myself the time and work by completing the C++ version of the Genesis Engine. Once that task is completed I could conceivably produce a better more stable version of Mysteries of the Ancients by using the newer and hopefully better C++ based game engine. Another reason why I think Mysteries of the Ancients should be converted to C++ has to do with long term technical support on my end of things. Ever since I began releasing games based on Microsoft's .NET technology my number one technical support issue has been related to downloading, installing, and upgrading the various .NET components you need such as the .NET Framework and Managed DirectX. Were i to switch to C++ I could save both you and I a lot of work downloading, installing, and upgrading libraries as I would primarily use standard Windows libraries that would be found on any XP, Vista, or Windows 7 system. You should be able to just install and go without wondering if you have the absolutely latest DirectX or .NET Framework on your system. I think this is a much better user friendly setup and hopefully would require a lot less tech support from me. Those are just some of the advantages of switching to C++ now. Others would include better system performance, better security, a wider availability of game related APIs, etc. Basically, C++ can't be beat when it comes to game programming, and now is clearly the time to strongly consider using it for this project as well as my on going and pending projects. The one question I know many of you are asking is, how long will all of this take? That is a difficult question to answer. Anything I would say here would be simply a guess at best. Do to the fact C# .NET is a C-Style language it obviously has a lot in common with C++, and much of the code could be converted pretty easily from C# to C++. That would obviously save time. Still there would be quite a lot of manual coding by hand to fully convert the engine from one language to the other. How long that would actually take is anyone's guess. However, if I had to make an educated guess say three or four months for the conversion process if everything goes well. Anyway, the point I want to make is that there are lots of ways of resolving our Managed DirectX issue. In the short term I certainly could upgrade the .NET based Genesis Engine, finish Mysteries of the Ancients, and have 1.0 out fairly quickly. However, I believe the long term

I'm not such a person. if someone has a system to get hacked or something can they varify this is a lagit thing? The email was not in good english but then emails from the author of night of parasite are not fully in good english either so then again no way to varify. I think there should be a sound at least in easy level. I have slowed down the target factor by a couple notches but even on easy mode its still semi hard. Re: [Audyssey] Triple J Shooter
Well I mannaged to get one perfect round and get one almost. enough to get into the bonus round I got betwene 700 and 850 in that round correct. well 500 points in bonus, and thats it. I think something should happen if you finnish the bonus round though depending on your score also if you get everything correct which is a challange itself. Interestingly I find this game quite good in the way I need to concerntrate. I often play mota first thing in the morning and others to wake up and wind down or if I am sleeping so I sertainly appreciate small games like this one. Nothing special really but then when you need to be awake you need a small piece of crud to get going not a huge double wopper with cheese. hmmm that dnd thing would be hard dark though not impossible as long as it all came in text if the player wished but you are right we can't have it all. At 04:36 a.m. 19/12/2009, you wrote: Hi John. I've checked the site, and as far as blog and review sites go it seemed okay with Hal, - usual shortcuts seemed to work, and ctrl down arrow got me to the site content. As to the favourites thing Phil mentioned, -well like Wikipedia pages the site does seem to have pre set link hotkeys for alt f etc, but there's a symple work around I've used on wikipedia for years, alt T for tools, then left into favourites and add. I did read an artical about hereing impared gamers and tabletop which I found interesting, however I do wonder if the focus of that site, being more on motion imparement, deafness and colour blindness makes it a good place for discussion of games without vision, or with extremely limited vision. On retroremakes.com I remember posting a topic about how dissatisfied I was with the Wiimote menue system, sinse it actually precludes me from accessing any of the console functions or learning where menue items are, the way I would in a standard console game, and wishing there was an alternative to have a one press menue system of the classic type. I was given some very hard answers, and told that the Wiimote system was great for motion impared gamers. This is one case where an accommodation for one disability actually precludes another, in fact one of the articals I read was an interesting one about a deaf player playing tabletop wargames, talking about the visual appeal and nature of the game making it accessible. Yet, such a game would be virtually impossible for a blind person, given the non-stratified piece movement and necessity to review the table with many objects. By the same tocan though, standard dice roleplay such as DD, where the Gm speaks what is happening and players' communicate their characters movement is incredibly accessible for someone with a visual imparement, --- -but would I guess be severely difficult for a deaf player due to the communication issues and the necessity to listen to the Gm. the only language I have used is pascal. free pascal with dev pascal compiler. it was part of my uni class. now if any resource is avalible for gaming I actually may pull out my programming books from those early days. I have also wondered if C++ is a derivative of COBOL. It would be cool to program in C++ because it has been there forever and doesn't seem to change. Of course the ultimate would be to program in what is it assembler or assembly. Now that is some manly programming right? But I do like that Basic does allot of stuff for you in the background and that Jaws works so well with BB6. I have just always worked in the programming environment and then test run the code that I just added. You know in VB6 you just press the f5 key to run the code. its free to register with msn and the dropbox system for a basic 2gb account. just email piter and he will tell you what you need. If you do not have an msn account you will need to get one, you can get this free. Either by using your isp email address or a hotmail. in theory you need to see a varification for this to work but I have a friend that never got hers. I registered when xtra was using msn and not yahoo as its platform so my address is registered on yahoo as well as msn. though I only use the msn. You will either need windows messenger 5.1 which is what I use. or windows live messenger which is what microsoft wants you to use but I don't. or go to ftp.onj1.andrelouis.com and go to programs and tget the preconfigured miranda. Groupsim is free as far as I know. if you need the dropbox account email me and I will send you an invite. after that send a message to piter to ask for shares on the test folder. YOu will also need autoit. you may download it from www.autoit.com or you can run it from the tools folder inside the shared autoit folder in your dropbox folder. I have also stored innosetup 5.36 a script maker and a startup pack of goodies in the innosetup folder. Most of the stuff is semi complete but some aint and some stuff can do some dammage. read all documentation, notice you may have to edit some of the source files to find out what things are. look for the hotkey keywords and remember the strokes. Note to that the folder will change from day to day. At 11:48 p.m. 21/12/2009, you wrote: Is it free to register with msn? Re: [Audyssey] new game idea: teddy bear machines
yes I have once. although it was a gift not necessarily a teddy. we also have a game where you put a coin in a slot and click a trigger. you only have around 30 seconds to click that trigger because after that the coin will drop back in the basket. even if you hit the trigger there is a 50-50 chance the coin will not come back out. these game ideas are simple ones. I think pkb or anyone here that has time can probably do it. they don't need much effert. the music for the bear machine may be a bit copywrited so it couldn't be the same but I don't see any issue. one thing though is the machines themselves don't make much of a racket at least the ones I saw. Its very tricky, most of the times the teddy bear falls off the arm into the bucket before one can retrieve it. Basically one have to move the arm forward somewhat like in a sidescroller, till the arm riches a teddybear, then one have to try and pick up the bear with this arm and bring it to the side of the bucket and lift it high enough so that the machine releases it. The machine will try its best to drop the bear again. So how would you guys feel about a game similar to these teddy bear machines ?Of course, I am not the potential developer, I just wish that a game like these teddy bear machines can be made. Nice game indeed! I'm not sure if developement is finished yet or not, but if you were planning to add anything, an extra sample when santa's got a full load of three presents would help, so that you don't need to press the C key, as I did rather find myself sometimes running around trying to pick things up even with a full load. then, you might considder having difficulty modes, not anything drastic, just playing around with the total of presents needed to collect, and the amount of time required to collect them. Re: [Audyssey] new game idea: teddy bear machines
I was thinking of this type to be a casino style. you gamble some cash, then draw a card or something. I know its not correct but that would make it interesting. As to making it an audio game, well I'm personally not sure about that, sinse it'd be a rather symple one even for a basic arcade game, and would need a good few extra features to be interesting to play, and by the time you'd added those features, your probably talking about a completely different game entirely. Re: [Audyssey] Giftanum?
well jim kitchen has admitted some years back his code is not prity either. not sure if this is true still or not. I programmed in javascript and pascal. and in pascal I would go nice and fast forget to put capitals on var or something or forget somethingelse and my program was locking up, restart, restart, oh man where is that code, where is it. This is already an hour, oh man I need to smash something. eventually I found it but yeah. Actually I think javascript is teaching bad programming practice as you can store variables etc anywhere you want and it really couldn't give a stuff. so if you then go pascal or other languages and try to do that well. At 05:53 a.m. 25/12/2009, you wrote: Hi Damien, Smile. Yes, we all need to start somewhere. As it happens a while back I found some cds with some very old source code on it, code from my college days, and I was horrified when reading the source for some of those programs. It was obvious I didn't have a clue what I was doing, or I had an idea of what I was doing, but not quite sure how to write programs professionally yet. So we all have had our amateur days. I also understand what you are going through with C++. Although, I took C++ in college and have programmed in it off and on for 10 years or so I don't have an extremely strong grasp of the language myself. When .NET came out around 2003 most of the contract jobs I was looking into wanted VB .NET or C# .NET, so I learned those languages, and that is mainly what has been in high demand ever since. The end result was even though I knew the basics of C++ I never got to grow into the language and get a lot of hands on experience with it, because I'm working with VB and C# .NET professionally. Now, that I've decided to begin using C++ for games I'm finding myself looking up tutorials and refreshing my skills to get back into the swing of things. It isn't that hard for me since I basically know what I'm doing, but I also know my skills and experience aren't as good as they should be. I'm making mistakes and doing things a more skilled C++ developer wouldn't. So it could be some time even for me to get back into using C++ with any degree of skill and experience. Damien C. Sadler wrote: Hi Thomas, Well, to be honest everyone starts somewhere. I dread to think if I went back 5 years what my code looked like. Even now I am not very experienced with games programming. Yes I can make the odd utility in VB, but even then I've been having reports left right and centre regarding bugs that I can't seem to replicate. However, learning C++, I am right back to novice state. I feel humiliated to say that so far, after almost a month of trying to learn, I still can't even write a clean hello world program. Probably because of its extensive nature. In VB, I had to write it as a message box simply because I wasn't practising coding by drawing a window and saving an executable. So as you can imagine, writing a 3 liner in a message box to writing an 85 line version creating a window is a large jump. Re: [Audyssey] OT: Need help ergently!
weird. maybe a virus. I have had the same issue with an old system my grandpa has. all his stuff is on an unsecured system because we didn't have the equipment or software to do anything about it. due to it dieing mainly because of all the spyware and viruses and the fact that one of the fans in the power unit has been on the blink for some months, i actually looked at recovery. However because of the condition it was not possible. So just reformat and lose your stuff. All I can suggest, I almost lost everything with my wd 500gb elements exploding. Thanks to a couple lucky breaks, a drive with a dieing power switch my dad's system and my cell, part of the net and a couple other things I mannaged to lose vary little. did your virus checker or something give any warning? if not then it may not be a virus. no virus does this anyway. at least I don't know one. Ok so it aint a virus. get someone to look in bios. most new systems have smart detection which is internal monitoring of some hardware, cpus, fans main board hdd etc. if something is failing or has failed then someone sighted should probably help you on this. Ofcause not sure if you are blind or not, but if not using del or whatever key gets you in the bios settings will help and have a look at bits of stuff. Remove the power wait for 20 mins open the system check the cards are all in their slots. turn on the system and listen with the case open. if a fan or something is not working you should at least be able to hear it and see it if you can. NOt sure but people say you can see spinning components so it must do. If you have a external hard drive caddy you could try connecting the drive to your system, and transfering stuff off. you probably can scan the hdd on that system to and fix any virus, etc. however not windows. Should be ok as long as you don't autorun the drive. How in the basic terms of your problem I suggest some hardware is dead, check the power supply and replace the battery, have a real good listen to the system. I say this because one day a friend of mine paniced and shut down his system during a disk scan with norton disk docter because he was not used to the noise and got scared. this resulted in destruction of his boot record and required an reinstall of the os only, which was fortunate. Also fortunate for him because he was running dos 5.0 and I had 6.22 however that was long time ago you can't do that with windows based system. I am not sure how to answer your issue. If you are able to fix this issue or even not I strongly recomend you buy an external hard drive and then another to back it up. I have 2 here. the 640gb which is my main data drive and workhorse and a 1tb mybook which stores backups. every few months I manually sink the drive this can take half a day or so but it means that in most cases I do have a coppy of the drive if not exact, well almost. If the drive does die I can change drives, till I can buy another, and then transfer stuff over to it. I left today, and shut down my system, things were working fine then, however, when I came back, something went horribly wrong, I turned on the system, and it booted up like normal. The windows logon screen came up, but it took forever to do anything. Here is the real puzzling part, the window went away, and the desktop never loaded, however, if I push the power button on my PC, the logoff screen shows up, and it shuts down like normal. I've tried rebooting, I've tried to reboot even in safe mode, nothing works, it just keeps doing the same thing. I've even tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, although that really probably served no perpose. As it stands, right now I'm still having this issue, and am at a loss as to what to do. Any help would be appriciated, as all my stuff is on that system, I am having to write this message from my laptop. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org.
