Hi Andrés,

Thank you, I missed this bugreport.
Anyway, I fixed the compiler issue by modifying the code a little bit:
The first problem caused by an additional reference operator ().
The remaining problems caused by that, some .cpp didn't contain the string.h
header file.
And finally, there was a HAVE_FFMPEG_AVUTIL_H or similar contant, which I
had to delete to avoid using postprocessing library, which does not exists.

So, I fixed these issues, I repacked libinstrudeo-1.1.4.tar.gz, regenerate
the manifest and used emerge to compile the lib.
It is ok now.

I will try to make a summary about the modifications and send to the
bugtracker.

My next problem is to compile screenkast itself :)
Now I am installing the complete kde 4.2.0 (metapackage), even I will never
use it to get screenkast working.
The compiling process failed because there are lot of QT missing things.
Ok, this didn't help. After I installed kde 4.2.0 it still has
problems

At this moment that is all.

Cheers,
István

[gentoo-user] Cannot compile libinstrudeo 0.1.4 on ~x86

2009-02-06 Thread Pongracz Istvan
Dear guys,

After a long time, I try to use again screenkast + libinstrudeo.

Ages before I did use it but nowadays (about in the last 6 months or
more) I cannot compile libinstrudeo because there are some compiling
problem.

These packages are in the sunrise overlay.

So, I guess there is a problem between the libinstrudeo and ffmpeg
libraries.
Here is a snippet from the compile problem:

isdffmpegexporter.cpp: In member function ‘virtual void
ISDFFmpegExporter::cleanup()’:
isdffmpegexporter.cpp:208: error: cannot convert ‘ByteIOContext**’ to
‘ByteIOContext*’ for argument ‘1’ to ‘int url_fclose(ByteIOContext*)’
isdffmpegexporter.cpp: In member function ‘void
ISDFFmpegExporter::abortCleanup()’:
isdffmpegexporter.cpp:237: warning: ignoring return value of ‘int
system(const char*)’, declared with attribute warn_unused_result
distcc[28590] ERROR: compile isdffmpegexporter.cpp on localhost failed

Before I write more stupid logs etc. to here, I would like to ask does
anybody succeed to install libinstrudeo for his recent gentoo box?

~x86

Best regards,
István

modules is working for me in kernel 2.6.28 (with vmware-workstation
 6.5).

Hi,

Thank you, now the situation is better :)
Unfortunately the VIX api installation failed.
I have the VIX file, downloaded before, but it seems nobody cares about
this file.

After I installed vmware-server, the
/opt/vmware/server/bin/vmware-config.pl
failed to install vix api.

Anyway, I do not know, what is it.

Other thing, vmware-server-console unable to connect to the server on
localhost.

Unfortunately the web gui has no console, but a stupid message to
install the plugin. When I click to install, I got a more stupid help
how to install.

I got sick about vmware I guess, this is my fault

I have to use this to get my usb scanner working under windows running
from real partition.

Probably I will buy a new scanner soon and drop out all the vmware
stuff...

Ok, I click on the Install plugin and I got the plugin.

Thank you Pauk :)

I think, it is better to get a linux friendly scanner to avoid using
vmware again.
Even they wrote, enjoy vmware, I can't. Not on my desktop to use this
bloody scanner nor on some servers.
We will migrate from vmware to openvz soon. There are some stupid
problems with vmware. For example the clock rate is different in the
same guest on two identical hosts (hardware+os). On one host the
internal clock working well, but on the other host (same hardware/OS)
the clock speed is double. The mentioned solution did not work, of
course.

Anyway, if somebody has a working (but retired) linux friendly scanner
and he/she did not (or will) use it, please send it to me :)

Thank you and Happy New Year,

Epson seems to have an active Linux driver development team with
releases usually every month, and you can check their website for
recently added scanners to the supported list. I have not used any
other scanner in Linux, but so far I am perfectly happy with this
 Epson (especially for $15).

kind of flatbed scanners..

Re: [gentoo-user] OOo 2.4 and Java [SOLVED/WORKAROUND]

I did the following:

sed -i

After this I got Sun JRE working on my ~x86 with OOo.

It is interesting, how the hell should I find out this solution
Thanks for Chris Mayo.

The original post from the gentoo bug site:

For me this has been (not new with the latest OpenOffice or jdk) an
example of:
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11390
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bu ... id=6532373

doing:

sed -i 's/XINERAMA/FAKEEXTN/g'
/opt/sun-jdk-1.6.0.05/jre/lib/amd64/xawt/libmawt.so

fixes it for me, not sure what other damage it does though.

[gentoo-user] pcmcia/usb tv tuner

2008-03-11 Thread Pongracz Istvan
Hi,

Does anybody have a working pcmcia/usb tv tuner card for linux?

I plan to replace our old desktop pc with a laptop and I would like to
complete the TV function with the laptop.
So, it would be nice to find a working pcmcia tv tuner card.

I start to search it using google, but what if somebody already has a
card :)

Cheers,
István

It is necessary for us using less common keyboard layouts. The official
Gentoo CD I used to install over 3 years ago included support for
Swedish keyboard layout. Knoppix left that out to have space for some
cruft, so Knoppix is really just for users with the more common layouts

Hi, thank you for your mail, this is great!

[gentoo-user] Gentoo Install CD 2008.Feb.08. minimal i686

2008-02-08 Thread Pongracz Istvan
Ladies and Gentleman,

Finally I succeed to build a minimal install CD using catalyst.
Unfortunately some bugs of the genkernel package caused some white hair
for me, but the trunk version seems working :)
(Thank you developers and bug reporters for the patches.)

Before somebody starts a new email-war, I want to tell you, I know, this
kind of nearly-official live install CD is not really necessary to
install a new gentoo system.

Just read back some emails in the last few weeks.

Anyway, now I am uploading to my server (slow uplink, sorry :)

Details of my release:
- i686 (mtune)
3 packages:
- the minimal install CD (~55MB)
- portage snapshot 08/02/2008 (~30MB)
- stage3 (probably 110MB, I start to build now)

Anyway, the genkernel ebuild in the portage tree has bad digest, because
I made a new for the trunk version. Simply make an emerge --sync to be
sure about the valid packages.

These will be available in my website (I need some hours):
http://www.osbusiness.hu/?lang=enpage_name=gentoolinux

Please, do not kill my server with overload :)
If somebody has a mirror, drop me a private mail.

If you find a bug or you have feature request or you simply want to
donate my work :) drop me a PM.

Cheers,
István

Sorry, I have only 32 bit systems.
My capacity is not enough to do this (except if I start using qemu to do

I have no idea (yet), how to cross-compile a complete stage.
Maybe later (months, years, I do not know).

The livecd + its digest + portage snapshot is ready to download.
The stage3 is still under construction (22 packages left + upload time -
probably tomorrow morning).

If you plan on using DTC... change distribution. The whole idea of using
 DTC/ISPConfig/etc is to
lift burden off you... maintaining DTC for gentoo might be excessive.

install CD - a CD, which is outdated.
...
hardware where to install it? No. So why do not having an official
 livecd makes it incomplete?

Think it the other way. Gentoo is, among other things, a way to install
Linux from any decent Linux live cd. From this point of view, the fact
that Gentoo sometimes releases an 'official' live cd is more of a luxury
than something it needs to be complete.

 m.

Hi,

As I wrote before, there is a tool, calles catalyst, which is used to
create official and up-to-date gentoo livecd.
Everybody have the chance to create their own.

I did it, that means, it is not really hard to learn :)

By the way, I customized my livecd to support the
rsync-to-the-hard-drive and viola', you have a fresh and running
system :)

The official install CD is a good marketing and reference, but in fact,
it is not necessary.

I think, this issue not really critical.
If somebody needs, create his own or change the distro.
Power of freedom :)

István

If I can give you an advice: don't create a new livecd from scratch.

files added and a Gentoo logo somewhere
 ...

 m.

Hi,

Thank you for your advice, but in this case, where is the fun part? :)

I do not want to create it from scratch, that is why catalyst exists.
The rest depends on the computer which compiles everything.

I agree, every kind of livecd is ready for install gentoo to a computer.
I already made some livecds for my own, so, it is fun (more or less :)

But I will explain the situation in my site later, based on this thread.
Anyway, this is a good marketing to show, how smart I am :)
Ok, I know, I'm stupid, but nobody else ;) Sh, this is a secret :)

Anyway, if somebody needs a fresh gentoo livecd (for psychological
reason) it will be possible to get one.
With a BIG FAT note, this is not official from gentoo-dev and in fact,
this is not necessary to install gentoo etc.

2007-12-05 Thread Pongracz Istvan

Hi,

I have a webserver with a lighttpd proxy and apache2 behind the proxy.

My problem is, in my apache2 log the client IP address is always the
proxy's IP.

I would like to see in my logs the client's real IP, instead of the
proxy's IP.
Just for fun, the proxy and the apache are on two different machines.
lighttpd's IP is 192.168.10.5
apache's IP is 192.168.10.14

I found that, there is an apache stuff, called mod_extract_forwarded,
which is not part of the gentoo's repository (or I only missed
something).

I would like to ask some hints, how to see the real IP forwarded by
lighttpd in my apache's log?

Or, how to install mod_extract_forwarded to apache?

Any solution are welcome :)

Regards,
István

Hi,

You should check the egw_pear package inside egroupware.
Login as domain config user and check the 'Manage application' menu
entry.

If you will not see egw_pear, you must download from the egroupware
homepage and install it under egroupware.

And if you have egroupware related questions, you can join to the
Hungarian egw fun club :)

By the way, I recommend to download the lates 1.4.002 version from the
egw website, because there are several bugfixes inside in, beside the
updated Hungarian translation by me.

Could it be your config? Did you re-emerge all your drivers and

I had this problem from the first new i810/xorg-server drivers
released.
When I realized this problem, I downgraded to the latest working
version: i810-1.7.4 driver and xorg-server-1.2.0-r3

Hm, I'm not sure, what should I rebuild..

Using metacity, opengl applications working well.
Changing to compiz/beryl, everything seems fine, except, nothing
refreshes its content.
For example the terminal is only a black box: if I resize, I get a fresh
snapshot of its content (for example a cursor or what I typed
before).

  # /etc/init.d/sshd start

Do this:
# /etc/init.d/net.eth0 stop
# rc

In this case, the system will stop net.eth0 and after the 'rc' command
all services will start normally.

AFAIK this is caused the dependency: for example sshd depends on 'net'
and it is waiting for net.eth0 and not for net.eth1 (or whatever) which
is your wireless interface.

I solved this problem with this in my machine.

[gentoo-user] Disable the access to a defined memory area

[gentoo-user] gnome power manager and gentoo-sources 2.6.21

2007-05-09 Thread Pongracz Istvan

Hi,

Some days ago I upgraded my kernel from gentoo sources 2.6.20-r5 to
2.6.21.

After this, gnome-power-manager could not sense the power source. It
shows always AC connector in, even it is running from battery.

Acpi shows me the fact, is it running from battery, but gnome power
manager cannot.

Switching back to the earlier kernel it is working well.

I recompiled hal/acpi, doesn't matter.

Does anybody know this issue? After googling I did not find solution.

Background:

fujitsu ~ # acpi -V
Battery 1: discharging, 82%, 02:54:15 remaining
Thermal 1: ok, 48.0 degrees C
 AC Adapter 1: off-line

Re: [gentoo-user] font problem after xorg-server upgrade

2007-05-03 Thread Pongracz Istvan
Hi,

I spent some time to solve this kind of issue, but no results.

In the GDM I got at least 400px high characters instead of 12 :)

Using Beryl all windows do not refresh their contents, just a snapshot
visible in the window area.
If I resize the window, I got a new snapshot, but (ab)normally refresh
are never happens: windows, popups, menus etc.

I have this kind of graphics card in my fujitsu siemens amilo pi1505
laptop:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile
945GM/GMS/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML
Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

With metacity seems everything working well, I have no font issues
(except GDM login page).

In xorg.conf the DisplaySize ignored.

Does anybody have any positive results with the new xorg-server/i810
driver?

Regards,
István

2007-04-25 Thread Pongracz Istvan
I had this kind of problem.
I only had this problem with GDM: huge fonts (some thousands of
pixels :)
Other problems caused was beryl+firefox and other application crashes,
cannot change its window etc.

I downgraded to 1.2.x

My personal opinion is that is not a solution if I had to tweak all the
system to get it working.

[gentoo-user] Seems SOLVED: Intel High Definition Audio and its problems and experiences

2007-04-14 Thread Pongracz Istvan
Hi All,

First, thank you all for your help!

Now, I am able to use microphone with skype and arecord also recorded my
beautiful voice :)

The question is, how, right? :)

I modified my /etc/modules.d/alsa based on Elias Probst's and Mauro
Faccenda's settings. Thank you guys!

alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
alias sound-slot-1 snd-card-1
alias /dev/mixer snd-mixer-oss
alias /dev/dsp snd-pcm-oss
alias /dev/midisnd-seq-oss
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=6stack-digout position_fix=1 index=0

This settings seems separate modem and the sound card and the last
option determine the correct type and fixes something :)

I found that, my laptop has two jacks:
one is line-in/microphone, the other one is headphone/spdif output.
My laptop manual says, it has a spdif output: 7.1.
(Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 1505)

From alsa-project, there is a nice document:
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?company=Intelcard=ICH+southbridge+HD-audio+and+modem.chip=ICH6%2C+ICH6M%2C+ICH7%2C+ESB2module=hda-intel

In the local kernel directory everybody must have this document:
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/alsa/ALSA-Configuration.txt

It has a part about snd-hda-intel and its options.

And finaly this one also could give some information:
localhost ~ # modinfo snd-hda-intel
filename:
/lib/modules/2.6.20-gentoo-r5pongi/alsa-driver/pci/hda/snd-hda-intel.ko
description:Intel HDA driver
license:GPL
..
parm: index:Index value for Intel HD audio interface. (int)
parm: id:ID string for Intel HD audio interface. (charp)
parm: model:Use the given board model. (charp)
parm: position_fix:Fix DMA pointer (0 = auto, 1 = none, 2 =
POSBUF, 3 = FIFO size). (int)
parm: probe_mask:Bitmask to probe codecs (default = -1). (int)
parm: single_cmd:Use single command to communicate with codecs
(for debugging only). (bool)
parm: enable_msi:Enable Message Signaled Interrupt (MSI) (int)
parm: enable:bool

Now I have only Front, IEC958 (???), Caller ID, Off-hook switches in the
Alsa device. Only Front turned on.
Input source is Mic, Capture enabled and setup around 20%, on playback
the Microphone muted.

I did not use the modem itself, but I plan to try it out in the future.
I think, I will start a new thread about Si3054 kind of modem and how to
use it :)
I installed slmodem package, seems working (I mean, slamr module loaded
without problem) :

Thank you again :)
Regards and have a nice weekend!

Good news! I mean, there are somebody there with a similar problem :)

So, I got this new machine just some weeks ago, so, I started with the
latest kernel+alsa.

I will try 2.6.19-x this evening to see, what is the situation.

By the way, one annoying thing is: there is no master volume.

The other one, even I can hear my voice, I cannot record it with skype.
And I failed with arecord too:
it gives me a blank (only header) file.

I have no idea yet.

Hi,

Try out catalyst, which is part of portage.
It is easy to create a custom own livecd.

From livecd, you can rsync its content (from /mnt/livecd/) to hdd and
you can customize.
For example my distribution is a customized livecd, which is capable
to install it to hdd (i686 optimized) and focused to server
functionalities.
ftp://ftp.linuxforum.hu/magenta/releases/x86/livecd
here you can see glivecd.0.0.1.iso

The learning curve is funny ;)
With catalyst, you can make uptodate stages etc.
It is a really great tool. Everybody able to make an own release :)

[gentoo-user] (OT) LiveCD server edition and some stage packages for i686

2007-04-04 Thread Pongracz Istvan
Hi,

I created a livecd with some server and other applications:
mysql, postgresql, dovecot, postfix, sendmail, mailman, apache,
webalizer, php, perl, cvs, ftp, subversion, webmin, virtualmin(gpl),
spammassism, clamav, samba etc.
X is not installed (yet).
It is i686 optimized (via 'march' option).

It is ready to install from CD to harddisk, like an install livecd.
It is based on portage snapshot made on 1st of April.

I can make a package list, USE flag list, some beautification, some
additional documents etc.

I used catalyst (thank you for this great tool :) for making this
livecd.

If anybody interesting about it, I can share it.

Details later.
I also created stage1, stage2, stage3 for i686, based on 2006.1 profile.

Please remember, this is not an official gentoo release, and it is not
yet published.

Any comment are welcome :)

Re: [gentoo-user] nvidia and X

2006-02-01 Thread Pongracz Istvan

You have to check your /usr/src/linux point to the current used kernel.
You have to emerge nvidia-kernel ebuild to.
This will provide you the missing nvidia kernel module.
You have to write it to the /etc/modules.autoload/2.6blah-blah-blah to
load it every system start.

Hello List!

I have a videocard of this type:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV5M64 [RIVA TNT2
Model 64/Model 64 Pro] (rev 15)

I installed nvidia-glx as it is described in the Gentoo Linux nVidia
Guide ( http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/nvidia-guide.xml )
When I start X, I get the following error:
Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module!

If I change the Diver section in the X config file from nvidia to nv, X
starts up, but without 3D support.

Thank you for your help in advance,

Re: [gentoo-user] unkillable processes

2005-11-29 Thread Pongracz Istvan

Hi,

As far as I know, this happens, when a process waiting for a hardware
resource.

Maybe something happened, which blocks the hardware, that means, the
kernel process never returns to the userspace.

This can be caused by bad/buggy hardware or buggy driver.

So, Richard is right, check your hardware, does everything work fine or not.

Regards,
István

Nope. Usually this means something went terribly wrong in hardware.
Pullling a hard drive out of the system while it is running is an easy

way to duplicate this problem, as it will cause the kernel to enter an
interminable reset loop to try and recover. Problems with network
filesystems could also cause something similar.

You should check dmesg output to see if the kernel is complaining
about something.
