Here are a few logs from the past few days. I was listening on a Collins R-388, connected to a random longwire. Unfortunately, my R-5000 power cord was being used on the DVD player (gotta get another power cord!) at the time and the PTO on the R-388 varies from on frequency to as much as +2 kHz, so my frequencies in the following logs arent dead on. SWBC Galei Zahal, 6973, 3/27, 0100+ SIO:444 Pop and US music for a while, then a long telephone interview with a woman. The strongest Ive heardem in about a month. (Yoder,PA) ZBC Zimbabwe: 6688, 3/25, 2240+ Pop and reggae songs. I had it on for background music for more than an hour. Mostly music early on, but then went into some talk programming later. I was hoping for Sudan or Somalia, but Ed Rausch got the ZBC ID later on (Thanks, Ed!). On 3/26, they were back to 6612 kHz (Yoder,PA) Europirate Mystery Radio: 6220, 3/26, 0100+ Better-than-normal signal here, prob. about SIO:343. Techno & pop music with rare announcements. (Yoder,PA) NA Pirate Dark Night Radio: 6925U, 3/26, 0400+ Announced e-mail address as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Not too bad at tune in with country music. Mostly faded out after a few min., but occasionally faded up. Announcer talked a lot & he has some echo on his voice...kinda reminds me of the sound of some CBers. (Yoder,PA) KCBM: 6990U, 3/26, 0400+ Think I had the Ken & Barry show here, but I just couldnt tune in the weak SSB with the BFO on the R-388. Very well produced show about different DXers who didnt heed the warnings of the show, kept listening, and later discovered that their car had flat tires or low tire pressure. Awesome signal here. Great show! I listened to the end...and I still have tire pressure! He also didn't mention my name, so the gods of tire pressure must be smiling down on me...Please QSL! Hi, did a lotta listening during the holidays. Here are the most interesting loggings: 7180 kHz, Jan 01 2007, 0223 UTC, AIR Bhopal, heard the AIR Interval Signal under the Voice of Turkey. Quite a rarity to get AIR regionals on 41m! However, it was totally gone by 0250. SINPO at the beginning: 32432 7290 kHz, Jan 01 2007, 0228 UTC, AIR Thiruvananthapuram, another AIR regional station made it after Bhopal showed that it's possible. AIR Interval signal, SINPO 42433. 4824.48 kHz, Jan 01 2007, 0322 UTC, La Voz de la Selva, Peru, with latino music and IDs, SINPO 34333. The only interesting station on 60m, long missed here. 6070 kHz, Jan 01 2007, 0140 UTC, Belarusskoye Radio 1 via Brest, in Russian with dance music. Surprisingly strong signal from a Belarussian lowpower, at SINPO 53443. The only other frequency of BR1 at similar strength was the second Brest frequency, 6010, at SINPO 42432 with IRIB disturbing. 9480 kHz, Dec 31, 2006, 2233 UTC, BBC via WSHB, in English, report about the Taliban. Hi... I am supposed to be studying for an important exam tomorrow but i can't help it... i am addicted to DX, and it seems that tonite in South America there's been a great opening towards Horn of Africa. This is what i got: ETHIOPIA 5499.8 and 6350 V. of Tigray Revolution, Mekele. Checked around 0340 with the anti-Eritrea prgr V. of Peace and Democracy, speechs interspersed with HoA music, until finished at 0355. Dead air until 0356, when continuous IS with typical flute appeared until 0402, ID in Amharic i suppose... Right now at 0405 there's some sort of reading but very emotional. SIO 242 for 6350 and 142 for 5499.8 ETHIOPIA 5990 and 7110 Radio Ethiopia, Gedja. With what it seems news and long speeches. Checked again at 0408 and speeches continue on both frequencies. 5990 with strong interference from France at 0400 in Russian. SIO 243 for 7110 and 221 for 5990. ERITREA 7110 V. of Broad Masses or Eritrea, Asmara. IS from 0327 to 0331, no NA, just ID from the station in what seems Tigrinya. Then readings interspersed with music, even with a song from Sami Berhane (an Eritrean singer i knew of because i downloaded some of his songs from the internet). Later check at 0415 with what it seemed people having a discusion about an issue. SIO 232. UnId 6984.8 Presumed the cland "V. of New Sudan". Military like songs, words not very distinguishable. Better in USB. There's a het that make a continuous noise (jamming?) on LSB. SIO 121 ETHIOPIA 6940 Presumed Radio Fana. Checked at 0426 with conversation and speech. SIO 242. While many of you probably still freeze your butts off, we enjoy about 28C here in Nepal. Soon it'll be too hot though for my taste. Oh well... ;-) 4000.0, R. Nei Menggu, 2155, weak with deep fades but clearly intelligible Mandarin and martial music in the peaks. //4620 presents a much clearer signal. 4785 carries different programing in Mongolian. (Roth-Kathmandu) 4450.0, presumed Korean National Democratic Front, 2210, sign on in Korean with martial music and clearly audible words (or rather names) Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il. Weak to fair with some fading. (Roth-Kathmandu) 4830.0, presumed R. Ulaan Baator, 2225, talk and 'Chinese opera'-style music, fair to good with some occasional deep fades. (Roth-Kathmandu) 5030.2, UNID, 2235, very weak with deep fades but occasional strong peaks and in a language I never heard before. According ILG it could be RTM Sarawak in a language called Bidayuh. Yesterday June 16 around 1700-1810 UT. Checked the remote SDR unit by Victor 4S7VK in Piliyandala Ceylon, now Sri Lanka. His IP Address changed always from day to day, so I have to update my ZoneAlarm firewall-open through list each day. Noise floor signal level is very HIGH these days. In old days in 2011 - 2013 years Victor's Perseus signal was one of the cleanest signals worldwide to mention, in a level of -137dB, a dream value. Yesterday on June 16, 2016 noise level on 21 MHz was -102dB, increased on bands to -90dB in 60mb, -87dB in 75 mb. Notings on Piliyandala remote unit: CHINA special jamming against western broadcaster like BBCWS or VoA etc. Some of these WHITE NOISE and SCRATCHING Metallic sound jammer are 24hrs STILL on air, even when the BBCWS schedule show no service on these channels. These seemingly are local jamming on large metropole cities in China ? like the USSR have done in Moscow and other big cities against Radio Liberty. Jamming signals are visible of mostly 10.2 kHz wide broadband blocks, 13590 at 1755 UT on June 16. 13695 11810 10.2 kHz wide 9410 7375 6195 6080 Two wideband CNR bcast programmes observed in 17-18 UT slot, like CNR17 Lingshi in Kazakh 20 kHz wide on 11630 kHz. [HCDX] Some logs from the past 2 evenings
Report from Bogdan (Alexandru) ChiochiuMark Mohrmann < Rx.: Sanyo MCD-S830 Ant.: Long ferrite bar QTH: PierrefondsEst (Montreal), Quebec, Canada Some logs made on December 25 after mid-night revealed nice signals from Caicos-530 and Guadeloupe-640, but not much else. Still hoping, in some way, that this AU condx would either continue very intense to allow some possible deep-South Americans or come completly to an end to allow CKEC in Nova Scotia to be heard from New Glasgow on 1320 with their nice pop music, alnong with other longer-haul signals from the Canadian Maritimes, south of New England or deep Mid West, other than the short skip signals in Boston, Toronto or NYC wich are weaker or very weak, but are still there, usually, during mildly auroral condx. Until I get a better antenna system or a better radio than my new Sangean ATS-606A, I'm still using the Sanyo radio purchased by my father before 1 month before I comed to Canada. And still, he was purchasing a Hi-Fi chain with tape, CD player and AM/FM radio not knowing that the AM section would bring some 18 countries for me and some 20 states (could bring even more than that if I had been more into domestic DX) and the FM section 4 or 5 mid-west states on E-skip until the antenna broked last year. Logs: 530 Turks and Caicos,Radio Vision Cristiana Internacíonal DEC 26 0547 - Excellent with up-beat SS gospel (Chiochiu-PQ) 640 Guadeloupe, Radio Guadeloupe, Pointe-à-Pitre DEC 25 0145 - atop with Caribbean music + DEC 25 2319 - fading in with man talking; extremely weak, but the earliest evidence of a Caribbean/South American station on the dial + DEC 25 2341 - to poor peak with interval signal followed by man talking in french creole + DEC 26 0331 - good, but soon overtaked by the Cuban and by WNNZ somewhat later; playing up-beat zouk music (Chiochiu-PQ) 640 Cuba, Radio Progreso DEC 26 0446 - quite rapidly faded atop WNNZ and stayed for at least 4 minutes with a very good signal, playing a nice salsa song (sounded somewhat similar to Oscar D'Léon wich is a sonera YV singer). Put 40 minutes of a barely recorded tape on 640 to wait for signs of brazilian Radio Bandeirantes of Porto Alegre to show. 640 is one of my favorites for Brasil because WNNZ is never above the "good" signal strenght, and I had possibly logged Ecuador in October (still have to review that tape to clear out if radio nationale was mentioned on Guadeloupe or HCXE2 Ecuador (Quito), but there was a station fighting with Guadeloupe at the time; did Radio Bandeirantes in on 24 hours a day ?). (Chiochiu-PQ) 670 Cuba, Radio Rebelde, CMQ, Arroyo Arrenas DEC 25 0246 - tentative this time; bits of music under overspills from local 690 while using the new Sangean ATS-606A receiver my mother gived to this Christmas. She din't want to buy a Radio Shack loop today. They didn't find, my mother (Chiochiu-PQ) 750 Venezuela, RCR, YVKS, Caracas DEC 25 0216 - to fair-good peak with woman in spanish talking about "Navidad" then singed it's self a X-mas song about "Isus" (Jesus in spanish) (Chiochiu-PQ) 760 Colombia, RCN, HJAJ, Barranquilia DEC 25 00308 - Very strong with talk program about Colombian music. Mention of "colombiano" and talk on several HJ singers, such as Shakira. Played bits of several Shakira songs; the only one familiar to me was "Whenever, Wherever". (Chiochiu-PQ) 890 Cuba, Radio Progreso, CMDZ, Chambas DEC 25 0228 - to excellent peak with a mixture of american pops and SS tropical/ pop mx. (Chiochiu-PQ) 1130 Venezuela, R. Ideal, YVRL ?? or domestic, DEC 23 0130 - American X-mas music under WBBR. Are they are any other domestics on 1130 or did YVRL play some music in EE too?; heard before the walk with Tom (my dog) and Aurel Chiochiu (my father) on the evening of December 22 (Chiochiu-PQ) 1150 UNITED STATES, La Mega, Boston, MA, WMAG, DEC 26 0238 - fair with minor fadings some QRM from remaints of nulled CJRC Gâtineau, albeit much weaker than with their terrific sky-wave present when it's not auroral, and no evidence of CKOC . A mixture of salsa, meringue and mexican cumbias; with two "La Mega" mentions at 0243. New domestic catche; however this might be a nuisance for any LA DX'er who want to hear YVMV "Ondas del Caribe". I was trying to hear the Venezuelan, Montreal-area dx'er Sheldon Harvey has heard maybe 20 years ago, but heard this instead - thanks for Bruce Conti for the tip. Presumably the same SS tropical-er heard several times since the automn of 2001. Now with an ID on WAMG, I wonder if the new Circuito AM Digital network of Venezuela who has an out-let on this frequency will make it to Montreal or not. Sheldon Harvey has heard it some time ago when the band wasn't that crowded, so why I couldn't heard them. YVMV-1150 used to be heard by Veteran DX'er years ago 9before I wasn't even born), and they are surely still possible during the optimum auroral conditions.
