[hlds] HL2DM Update

2006-06-14 Thread Darrel

Wow, thanks for the heads up that this was being released... So far I've
found that health kits and suit chargers on the ground don't pickup, they
play the sound, but don't register. The chargers on the walls work. Of
course it broke Manimod. Sigh, just thought I'd throw this out there, any
bad effects with CSS or was this a HL2DM only update?

[hlds] Working with 3rd party developers

2006-04-19 Thread Darrel

Very well said.

Alfred, the March 8th update somehow changed the log pulling parameters, and
now HLSW cannot pull logs. One of the guys on the HLSW site has said that
his emails to Valve have gone unanswered, is there a way for them to get in
touch with you (anyone really) at all? (Besides this list, which tends to
have, uhh, quite a variety of subjects). It seems that a lot of these guys

I will pass this address on to them. I think part of the problem is that if
you haven't updated your server, then HLSW isn't broke for you. So there's
really only a few of us that are complaining, and if there were any other
alternative I would have thanked HLSW for the time it served me and moved to
the alternative. Thanks for your replies Alfred, I appreciate it.

Oh, is there going to be any new skins or any other updates for HL2DM with
the upcoming Episode One release? Thanks...

Well, I went to do just that and found the forum down... :-( But I think
that more people posting to the (stickied) thread in the problems section
would let them know that it isn't just 5-6 people having the issue. (BTW, I
post as Larred in the HLSW forums.)

Re: [hlds] SiN 1 update released

2006-04-18 Thread Darrel

Alfred,

Is there any work being done regarding the update that broke log pulling
from 3rd party mods? I can't seem to get a straight answer from the HLSW
team, and as I've said, it hamstrings my ability to admin my server
remotely.

Thanks.

PS... I don't care who fixes it on what end, I just want it fixed. They're
claiming no communication from Valve, you guys claim you don't support 3rd
party mods, and it just ends up being extremely frustrating trying to simply
run a server because it seems like you guys randomly break things, sigh.

We have released an update SiN 1. Run the hldsupdatetool to get this
update.

The changes for this update are:
- Added new deathmatch map Spool
- Fixed incorrect game name being reported to Steam
- Fixed French version of the game dropping the player to the console in
the Chemical Plant and Mountain Gorge levels
- Civilian females no longer turn bright red when shot
- Unused map name removed from multiplayer map list

Re: [hlds] source compatible rcon tools

2006-04-15 Thread Darrel

Ok, thanks. Do you know of any other ways to remotely monitor chat in DM?

Hi..

No - it's a command line tool that was primarily designed to be used in
.bat
and script files, to help automate rcon functions as part of scheduled
maintenance etc. Adam was looking for a way to ensure the log files were
closed before bringing game services down - and this allows you do that,
amongst other things. It's not really intended as a console tool, hence
no
nifty UI, like HLSW, for watching chat, etc.. Just a small bit of
kaboodle
for the kit...

[hlds] Server logs

2006-03-23 Thread Darrel

My apologies if this has been brought up, I just rejoined the list to
address this problem. Monday's (near as I can tell) server update killed
the ability to pull server logs with HLSW on HL2DM. (www.hlsw.org) This
is the ONLY program I've found that I can remotely admin my HL2DM server
with. Every other function works, but since I can't pull the logs I can't
see what the players are typing in real time, this basically hamstrings my
admin abilities. Any thoughs or help would be appreciated on this...
