[hlds_linux] TF2: client connection problem
We're investigating the problem where clients are unable to join a team or maintain a connection to the server. If your server is experiencing this, can you try running your server with "-NoQueuedPacketThread" in the command line to see if that fixes it? [hlds_linux] TF2 required update released
We've release a required update for TF2. Sorry for the lack of notice ahead of time on this one. The details are below. -Eric Engine -- Fixed Day of Defeat: Source server crash when loading dod_jagd. Team Fortress 2 --- Added a "Discard" button to the item pickup panel. Added a backstab custom death animation to the Heavy. Changed default for tf_arena_use_queue to 1. This was the original behavior prior to the last update. Changed the Dead Ringer so it can be activated while carrying the flag. Increased the Force-A-Nature's damage by 10%. Fixed not being able to reflect arrows with the Flamethrower. Fixed The Huntsman drawing a muzzle flash under lagged conditions. Fixed the background color of the Spy disguise panel not always matching his disguise team. Fixed idle players being kicked when the server has tf_arena_use_queue set to 0. Fixed Spies not being able to sap a building if an enemy player was colliding with the building. Fixed getting a real target ID on an enemy Spy that's disguised as one of your teammates if you are disguised as an enemy. Fixed the Ambassador not shooting enemy sticky bombs. Fixed Spies being able to automatically cloak after uncloaking at the moment of a weapon switch. Fixed Jarate instantly exploding when thrown in some places, like the final area of Badwater. Fixed spectators not having their items removed when they enter spectator mode. Fixed Sniper "civilian" exploit where players could crash the server. Fixed a couple of cases where viable backstabs would fail. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

[hlds_linux] TF2 fix later today
1) We're fixing the problem with mp_maxrounds not correctly counting the number of rounds for Dustbowl after the scoring change. An update for this is coming later today. 2) Yesterday's TF2 release included the ability for servers to have map-specific .cfg files in the cfg folder. It was missed in the release notes. The first three values mirror the behavior in Counter-Strike Source and other Valve games: 0 = spectate all players, all modes 1 = spectate only your team, and only first-person 2 = no spectating when you die The new value is 3, and this is the default value for TF2 (unless you override it in your server.cfg). This behavior is what everyone is used to for TF2: 3 = spectate only your team, first-person or chase-cam mp_forcecamera does not restrict players on team Spectator...only players who are on RED or BLU. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of LouLou Bizou Sent: Friday, February 15, 2008 11:31 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2/Dedicated Server Updated -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Thanks for the fix, can you explain what are the differents values of mp_forcecamera ? 0 for ? 1 for ? 2 for ? and 3 for ? thanks ! 2008/2/15, Eric Smith <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > I think we've found the cause of the "mp_forcecamera 1" crash. We've fixed the problem with > 24 player servers not being listed properly in the Custom tab by the Master Servers. Sorry about that. Servers with increased player limits are being listed as Custom servers because the stated systems specs for TF2 clients are designed around a maximum of 24 players. [hlds_linux] TF2 update coming later today
We're planning to ship a mandatory TF2 server/client update later today. We'll have the list of changes for you when the update is ready. There are a few items (below) we're working on that won't be ready for the release today. We're aware of these issues and are working to have them fixed for the next update. - SourceTV issues (port/connection problems, and servers with maxplayers 32) - mp_timelimit not functioning correctly on custom maps - FCVAR_NOTIFY broken on Linux servers We'll be doing some work to educate players on the new Custom servers tab, using both PR and user interface changes. Now that the Internet/Custom servers system is in place, we'd like server admin to work within it. We'll be delisting servers with custom rule sets that deliberately work around the system. [hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead dedicated servers
We'll be releasing the Left 4 Dead dedicated server files prior to the Left 4 Dead demo being released. More details will be sent to the mailing lists when we have them. There are two things to keep in mind regarding running a Left 4 Dead server: 1) The CPU load for the Left 4 Dead server will be higher than you're used to for games like TF2. Left 4 Dead has a bunch of A.I. for the zombies, etc., that games like TF2 don't have. 2) Left 4 Dead uses a new matchmaking system we're developing. We'll be working with the server admin community to make sure the new system operates as smoothly as possible. [hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead -Matchmaking
Left 4 Dead will use the new matchmaking system we've been working on. The new matchmaking system replaces the traditional server browser. By running a public dedicated server your server will be added to a list of servers available for clients to use when playing. Games are started from a Game Lobby by clients, who are then connected to a dedicated server when they start the game. When they're done, your server is added back to the list of available servers. Clients will be able to "Quick Match", "Play Online", and "Play With Friends" when they want to play a game. You will still have access to the traditional Message of the Day for your server. For Left 4 Dead, we've added a banner ad you can create that will be displayed to clients when they're playing on your server. There is also a ranking system to show the popularity of your server. This is the first version of what we've been working on, and we're going to want feedback from all of you once things start turning up tomorrow. -Eric ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
