Since they haven't announced it, you still have more than a week, a day or an hour to prepare. if you wait, you have less time. Right now you have the most notice about it you will ever get. Not the most notice you had. That was earlier. If you read this sentence and type some reply to it you're just wasting time you could be preparing. If you read this sentence you're wasting even more time. What are you doing Frank? You're still reading? C'mon, the penny will drop in a minute. Seriously, close the message! TIME IS RUNNING OUT! Ok, you're still here reading. So you need it spelling out. If you find out what you need to do and prepare, and do it as soon as from now, then you will have it done before it happens. CentOS is a bad choice for a game server anyway. It's already known to have issues with srcds, this is probably yet another. I'm running on 64bit Ubuntu 10.04, with no problems to speak of, both on my regular TF2 server, and the TF2 Beta server install. Re: [hlds_linux] Mandatory TF2 Beta Update Released
Just to update this for others. I had a friend trying to get the beta running. he was having the same problems as everyone else. He had done a netinstall of centos, 64 bit. after removing the 64 bit and installing 32 bit he was able to get the beta running but with same issues with bots crashing on some maps. Point is, he converted to 32 bit and it works for him. I was doing more testing with this, and these are my results. First off i notice there are only 11 beta servers. I find putting these cvars in the server.cfg: > tf_bot_kick all > tf_bot_quota 0 > Then add these to a .cfg file: > tf_bot_add > tf_bot_quota 9 > tf_bot_join_after_player 0 > I noticed after a few maps load with the bots, the server could crash on a certain map while the bots are loading. Re: [hlds_linux] Mandatory TF2 Beta Update Released
yes, when i posted that about 14 hr's ago, i had just installed a new beta server, which came with alot of nav files. if bots were loaded on some maps it would crash. i spent a few hours making .navs for maps, and noticed even if it was some i made or some that came from valve. certain maps would still crash on the server. These are some that crashed with me, even after me trying to make navs for them. OR the bots do not move so i made a cfg file for the map. cp_degrootkeep cp_dustbowl cp_egypt_final cp_granary cp_gravelpit cp_junction_final cp_manor_event cp_mountainlab cp_steel ctf_2fort plr_nightfall_final plr_pipeline @ ICE the server does not start making the nav by it's self. I have to invoke it. Here is the command i use. "tf_bot_kick all;sv_cheats 1;bot_kick all;nav_max_view_distance 6000;nav_generate" nav_view_distance is 6000 by default, i added it incase i want to change it. Server is installed on Ubuntu 9.10 If you want to see the server, 72.187.1.27:27022 -MCG- TF2 Beta ServeR 5 bots autoload with server.cfg The maps listed above causes the server crash, so i made a cfg for that map with tf_bot_quota 0 tc_hydro cp_well cp_granary cp_dustbowl cp_gravelpit ctf_2fort ctf_well cp_badlands pl_goldrush cp_fastlane ctf_turbine pl_badwater cp_steel cp_egypt_final cp_junction_final plr_pipeline pl_hoodoo_final koth_sawmill koth_nucleus koth_viaduct ctf_sawmill cp_yukon_final koth_harvest_final koth_harvest_event ctf_doublecross cp_freight_final1 pl_upward plr_hightower pl_thundermountain cp_coldfront cp_mountainlab cp_manor_event cp_degrootkeep cp_5gorge pl_frontier_final plr_nightfall_final koth_lakeside_final koth_badlands On Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 3:36 PM, Nikolay Shopik wrote: > On 25.03.2011 22:02, D3vilfish - Simiancage.org wrote: > >> Are you confirming you have a Linux install of tf2 beta running as I have >> installed from scratch a default install to a new directory and still no >> joy. >> > > I'm having clean install and got crash on start. > > > > ___ > To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, > please visit: > http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux > ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

Re: [hlds_linux] Mandatory TF2 Beta Update Released
That .nav is actually required to make bots work in the first place. Unless valve has implemented engine built-in solution. If .nav does not exist, server will start analyzing map and do it itself but if you look at server console, it wil reveal this. If it does not do the nav, then tf2 does not support it on the fly yet. -ics - Alkuperäinen viesti - > sorry for posting so quick, but this only effects some maps. > Bot will run on some maps. > I just did a fresh install of the beta and notice they added a few > .nav's in the download. > > On Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 7:51 AM, clad iron wrote: > > > Hey you guys that are having server crashes. > > look in the maps folder and see if you have .nav files for your maps. > > if you do not run bot's and you have .nav files, try deleting those. > > I was messing with nav files earlier and noticed the map would load, > > and bots would join(from server.cfg). > > after i ran the command to create a nav, and the map changes. once the > > bots start joining the server would crash. > > Delete the nav file and all was ok. > > > > > > On Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 6:27 AM, clad iron wrote: > > > > > only issue i have seen is some maps will crash on start if the > > > server has bots running. > > > > > > On Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 3:03 AM, D3vilfish - Simiancage.org < > > > priv...@caterhamhill.net> wrote: > > > > > > > Confirmed, since recently we are unable to run Meta Mod and now as > > > > you say > > > > since a couple of days ago they just insta crash on start. > > > > > > > > -Original Message- > > > > From: hlds_linux-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com > > > > [mailto:hlds_linux-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of > > > > Ross Bemrose > > > > Sent: 25 March 2011 02:59 > > > > To: Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list > > > > Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Mandatory TF2 Beta Update Released > > > > > > > > My Linux TF2 Beta servers still crash on start, and have since > > > > yesterday's first update yesterday. > > > > > > > > Seeing as how there are only 7 Beta servers online, and none of > > > > them are official Valve servers, I'm guessing this problem is > > > > widespread. > > > > > > > > On 3/24/2011 8:00 PM, Eric Smith wrote: > > > > > We've released a mandatory TF2 Beta update. Re: [hlds_linux] Mandatory TF2 Beta Update Released
sorry for posting so quick, but this only effects some maps. Bot will run on some maps. I just did a fresh install of the beta and notice they added a few .nav's in the download. Re: [hlds_linux] Mandatory TF2 Beta Update Released
Hey you guys that are having server crashes. look in the maps folder and see if you have .nav files for your maps. if you do not run bot's and you have .nav files, try deleting those. I was messing with nav files earlier and noticed the map would load, and bots would join(from server.cfg). after i ran the command to create a nav, and the map changes. once the bots start joining the server would crash. Delete the nav file and all was ok. Confirmed, since recently we are unable to run Meta Mod and now as you say since a couple of days ago they just insta crash on start. -Original Message- From: hlds_linux-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:hlds_linux-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of Ross Bemrose Sent: 25 March 2011 02:59 To: Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Mandatory TF2 Beta Update Released My Linux TF2 Beta servers still crash on start, and have since yesterday's first update yesterday. My Linux TF2 Beta servers still crash on start, and have since yesterday's first update yesterday. Seeing as how there are only 7 Beta servers online, and none of them are official Valve servers, I'm guessing this problem is widespread.
