The problem turned out to be the use of 32-bit package on 64-bit Windows.
It doesn't recognize 'chcp' command from 32-bit console if it is started
from 32-bit application for some reason. After installing 64-bit package
all works fine!

[hugin-ptx] Re: [win32] Hugin 2010.1 svn5118 for download

2010-05-04 Thread GaaB

Hello James,

Le 02/05/2010 19:17, James Legg a écrit :

It sounds like you are using cylindrical projection for a spherical
panorama.

Absolutely not : it is a conventional 130° panorama of a room (27
pictures on two rows) for which Projection Cylindrical is the most
logical.

Using the *same* project.
- With 2009.4 the fit button is working correctly (or at least as I
would expect) : the initial field of view is 126 * 60 = after fit 126
* 60.

With 2010.1.svn5118 the initial value 126 * 55.3 becoming after fit
360 * 179.

If you want cylindrical projection, reduce the vertical field of view
manually to an acceptable level. If you want the whole sphere visible,
use a projection which can display 180 degrees vertically, for example
equirectangular.

If your panorama shouldn't cover 180 degrees vertically, you'll have to
centre it vertically so it doesn't cover the poles (straight up or
straight down).

The recent masking feature uses the Multitexture extension, so you need

don't know for certain.

Thanks to Harry link for OpenGL analysis tool, I found that I have
OpenGL 1.1 with some extensions, but GL_ARB_multitexture *not* supported.

*But* when (by chance) I was able to have the fast preview working I was
able to use masking (the rendering was not Ok, but *no crash*).

[hugin-ptx] Re: [win32] Hugin 2010.1 svn5118 for download

2010-05-02 Thread GaaB
I finally found out that the Vista Drivers of Ati were working under
Windows 7 even if ATI is claiming that it is not supported by them.

Updating gave my ATI X300 an OpenGL level of 2.1 - and the OpenGL
Extension Viewer test runed fine (previously it gave an exception error).

And *now Fast Preview is working fine* !

But the fit and center buttons (as well as the calculate field of view
and Optimal Size are giving very strange results.

The initial field of view is 144 * 61.4
The width is 3345 * 1580

After calculate field of view they become 360 * 179 and 3345 * 122008 !
which appears in the preview almost as a thin vertical line.

- graphic card ATI X300 - *now* OpenGL 2.1

It sounds like you are using cylindrical projection for a spherical
panorama.

If you want cylindrical projection, reduce the vertical field of view
manually to an acceptable level. If you want the whole sphere visible,
use a projection which can display 180 degrees vertically, for example
equirectangular.

If your panorama shouldn't cover 180 degrees vertically, you'll have to
centre it vertically so it doesn't cover the poles (straight up or
straight down).

post it on monday.

I will check latest build again with different enblend version.

 Thanks.

As I previously indicated, maybe not clearly enough, it worked 2 or 3
times on my PC, but most of the time the fast preview crashed.

So I suspect a memory initialization problem which may disturb the test

My 2 cents.

Hi windows users,

I'm not on windows but I know there have been issues with OpenGL drivers as
such and OpenGL support in graphics drivers on Windows (Can you remember the
pvqt/panini posts?). Some necessary OpenGL settings/functions might not be
supported.
Check (1) for an analysis tool. This tool also allows you to tweak some
settings as well.

I hope James Legg listens to this thread as he knows a lot about it.

I am reading this. I have had a look for OpenGL errors in Hugin. I found
and fixed two, but they could only reproduced when using various fast
preview features, not when first loading it.

OpenGL will sometimes flag erroneous usage, but you have to check for it
manually with glGetError[0]. OpenGL implementations don't have to flag
errors though, there is a lot of undefined behaviour. This could make
something crash on one system and not report an error on another. I
fixed what I could find with it on a Intel 965/Linux system.

It could be a different problem with Hugin, WxGL, or graphics hardware
or drivers.

I'll add, a few people reported having problem when working in hugin on
multiple projects without closing it. I do remember reproducing some
problems, and the preview windows was on the list.

So, just in case it helps, do you work on multiple projects in a row,
reusing the same running process each time? If you do, try closing hugin
between each project, and starting it over.

If not... then the search must continue.

Zoran, only thing I saw (present in the last 2 builds) is that
celeste_standalone will output the STD_ERR to a message box instead of the
command line, interrupting the process each time.

I just tried celeste from the gui, and is working normally for me.

2010-04-30 Thread Nicolas Pelletier
I don't know why, but some exif\iptc tags on my tifs are not good. Celeste
complains at loading them (tell me if you want one of those). The older
versions does output to the command line, so switched to that one for the
projects I run command line.

For the systems,

One is a Dell Latitude with a Core2Duo T7700 @ 2.4 with 4 gig ram (64 bit)

The other is a Dell Inspiron (I think, not in front of that one) Core2Quad
with 8gig ram (64 bit also).

Thanks for the builds!

[hugin-ptx] Re: [win32] Hugin 2010.1 svn5118 for download

2010-04-30 Thread Zoran Zorkic

I've done some more testing.
Tested building a spherical pano from the original photos to the
rendered equiangular image. Used APSC for CP generation.

Summary:
Core2Duo nVidia 9800gt Win7 64bit: perfect
Turion64 x2 nVidia 6100 Win7 64bit: perfect
Sempron64 nVidia 6800gt WinXP SP2 32bit: perfect *

* On the XP system enblend is not working, but you can substitute
another enblend build.

I have no other graphics cards ATM to test it but it seems that the
trouble with the preview window is directly connected to it. It seems
it mostly affects old cards, so, maybe upgrade the card?

As to the problems with APSC not detecting CPs properly, bug the dev
team as the default settings are not optimal.

Emad, you said you tested on a few systems but got it working only on
one, could you please post the details of the systems: CPU, GFX,
windows version.

2010-04-30 Thread Nicolas Pelletier
If my memory serves me right, both system have the cheap video card (intel
965 for one.. I expect the same for the other).

As for the tags... I don't mind that celeste does not like them, it does not
like them in the old version either. But in the old, the error is shown on
the command line while with the new, it pops a window. Sounds like a flag...

The impact is that I run most of my pano overnight and the process stops
when this window pops until I press ok, then continues.

Thanks

Hello and thank you for your hugin builds.
I do have a problem with 5118 (hugin.win32.5118.rar): it finds, on the
same pictures, and with the same settings (at least I think they are
the same) far less keypoints and hence very few, often unsuitable
control points. I ran it on the same pictures side by side with build
5063, which works fine. I installed both builds in the same way. Any
idea what I'm doing wrong? So far I have used several builds out of
the box without problems.

Check your CP detector settings. For APSC you could use: --maxdim
1600 --maxmatches %p %o %s
