Re: [ilugd] mounting problems
Hi Hemant, This may be too late a reply, (you might have already found out the solution) but still here it is man page for mount says Normally, only the superuser can mount file systems. However, when *fstab* contains the *user* option on a line, anybody can mount the corresponding system. Thus, given a line */dev/cdrom /cd iso9660 ro,user, noauto, unhide* any user can mount the iso9660 file system found on his CDROM using the command *mount /dev/cdrom* So in your case, you may want to add the following entry to /etc/fstab /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbdrive vfat user, noauto post this, you can plug in the USB device and issue mount /mnt/usbdrive as any normal user. Please check the man page for mount for a better explanation of all the options. Regards Subhasis On 4/26/07, Sharad Birmiwal [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: You don't mount /dev/sda but /dev/sda1 (see dmesg output for list of partitions available on sda). Re: [ilugd] Mysql backup prob
Fine Manish. Can u check the following? 1. Whether there is a /tmp/mysql.sock file when your mysql server is running. 2. run the mysqldump command under strace and see where is the command looking for the socket file. You should get the answer. And by the way, /etc/my.cnf is functional even when you are installing from the tar ball. Re: [ilugd] mysqldump problem plz help
To backup tables in MySQL, you can also use the sql query backup table tablename to 'directory name' This query will copy the .frm and .MYD files to directory name. Remember that this directory should be writable by the mysql user. To restore the backup, you can use restore table tablename from 'directoryname' This query will recreate the .MYI file. This is much faster than mysqldump, and very effective incase of a huge production database. Re: [ilugd] Load Balancing Apache Servers
mod_backhand is an apache module and can run without much resource requirements. We configured mod_backhand on a dual PIII with 2GB of ram and this was also serving dynamic pages apart from running a MySQL server and some other in-house tools. Hence, in your case, a moderately good hardware will suffice since you will use that h/w specifically for load balancing. Compile apache with the least number of modules and with ofcourse mod_backhand or if your apache is compiled with DSO support, just do AddModule and LoadModule. -Subhasis On 9/14/05, ankush grover [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On 9/14/05, Mithun Bhattacharya [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: --- ankush grover [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On 9/14/05, Mithun Bhattacharya [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: http://www.backhand.org/ Thanks everybody for ur replies. backhand only supports Apache1.x not Apache 2.x. Did you try doing a nslookup on any website, for eg yahoo.comhttp://yahoo.com? and try a traceroute to that website using the IP Address returned from nslookup. This will tell you if the DNS lookups are slow or the reliance network is having problems. For the former, u can modify your /etc/resolv.conf and add other DNS servers before the reliance ones. U can use the vsnl(202.54.15.1 http://202.54.15.1) or the spectranet( 203.122.63.152 http://203.122.63.152) ones.. both are good. further, Bimal, this 202.138.103.100 http://202.138.103.100 nameserver is the secondary nameserver for reliance and is mostly having problems ( This I know was the case about 10 months back) and believe that they are still having issues. Hence, incase 202.138.103.100 http://202.138.103.100appears first in /etc/resolv.conf, move it below 202.138.96.2... Re: [ilugd] Apache server cann't start after enabling SSL
Hi Abhishek, Apart from setting SSLEngine on, u will also have to define the ports to listen, like 80 for HTTP requests and 443 for HTTPS requests. Also u need to mention the ports in the VirtualHost declaration. Refer to the default httpd.conf file, and u will be able to do it.
